Personality:
A major aspect of Takeshi’s personality is his determination. He has gone through his life having to fight his own battles, without support from friends or family. This has made Takeshi resilient, and completely unwilling to give up. Under no circumstances will Takeshi allow himself, or those around him to surrender. Through sheer force of will, he is able to stand alone against overwhelming odds.
This gift also comes with drawbacks, however. Takeshi's resiliency is a trait he holds himself to, but he also holds others to his own codes as well. If he sees anyone giving up, he completely loses respect for that person, and to lose Takeshi's respect is to lose his support. His determination unfortunately can turn into stubbornness, and it’s nearly impossible to change his mind once he’s made it.
Years of emotional neglect without any friends or family to seek for interaction has left Takeshi unable and unwilling to connect with anyone. Although it is not unheard of for him to crack a smile or offer an opinion every now and then, Takeshi spends the majority of his time silent and stone faced, staring into space or watching a seemingly insignificant event in nature.
Those around Takeshi tend to describe him as aloof or uncaring, but that is not the case. He just has a shell that protects his emotions from the rest of the world. He does this so he no longer needs to rely on others to help him, and can instead rely on himself. Takeshi believes his detachment is necessary so he can become strong, and that through dependence on others one becomes weak.
Takeshi is a very morally strict person. He holds himself to a standard that he will not break for any reason. He values honor, but not by the terms of others. He believes the only true honor is that which comes from oneself. According to Takeshi, it is not up to others to decide your actions, you must make the way for yourself. Despite this, he cannot bear to support anyone who he sees as breaking a moral code.
Appearance:
Hair: It’s hard to care about what your hair looks like when you live in a country of rain. The constant precipitation is a bane to any hairstyle, turning even the most well groomed mane into a frizzy, damp, mess. Not only that, but it is also a chore to have to tie it up every time you wish to do anything active, or else risk your hair getting in the way. Hair can also be detrimental in battle, giving your opponent an extra target for grabbing. It is for these reasons that Takeshi, as well as the rest of his family, cut their hair short. The men, including Takeshi, have crew cuts, and the women favor pixie haircuts (think Emma Watson). Takeshi's hair is a deep, almost black, chestnut, and his facial hair is limited to an adolescent stubble that grows on his chin and upper lip.
Face: Takeshi has a square-shaped face with a strong jaw that, if you ignore his height, makes him look older than he really is. His eyes are an icy sky blue that borders on white, and they have a constant determination to them that tells of an unwaivering spirit. Takeshi and his family have the Sansutomu's trademark tan skin. One could describe them as having olive skin. Takeshi has thin lips and rarely seen smile. When he does smile, the expression doesn't reach his eyes, giving him a cold appearance.
Body: Takeshi is short, but with wide shoulders and and well built limbs. He looks like someone who does manual labor on a regular basis. His arms are lean, ending with worn, calloused hands and bitten fingernails. His torso is well defined, but not exactly the bodybuilder type. Takeshi’s legs are sturdy looking, with powerful calf muscles. His body type is built for an all-around combination of power, agility, and endurance.
Clothes: When on official shinobi business, Takeshi wears a simple, practical uniform. Around his head he wears a headband with a forehead protector bearing the Amegakure symbol. He also wears a black hooded parka designed not to soak up water, as to stay light in the rain. The parka reaches Takeshi’s mid-thigh, and can be buttoned closed, but when it is open it reveals a stone-gray linen shirt underneath. This shirt has a high neck and long sleeves, and the material is comfortable and stays dry due the parka. Takeshi wears long, loose-fitting black pants of cloth, thick enough to protect the wearer’s legs from stray scratches, but thin enough for the wearer to be maneuverable in a fight. The pants don't offer much protection in a fight, but they are useful when walking through the wilderness, and they are quick drying. Strapped to his belt is he 15-slot butt bag along with his unnamed short sword.
When Takeshi isn't on business, he wears a tight, sleeveless, grey shirt with a wide blue line running vertically up the middle on both the front and back. In addition, the back of the shirt bears a yellow Sansutomu clan logo. His headband can usually be found hanging around his neck, or off his belt, and he doesn't wear his butt bag. Takeshi never goes anywhere without his sword, regardless of the occasion, so his casual outfit comes with a sword strapped to his belt. as well.
Background:
Takeshi was born in Amegakure, during a time when internal conflict and corruption ran rampant, despite the kage’s attempts at reform. The streets ran wild with muggers and bandits, and false ninjas only added to village’s many problems. In the midst of all this, a family from the first house of Sansutomu (those descendant of Aeolus' firstborn son) arrived in the city. This family consisted of a stern and salty Grandfather, still in astounding shape; an easygoing father and his fiery-tempered wife; a caring and extremely bright young daughter, eager to become a medical ninja; and an infant son, Takeshi.
The family gave no details as to their specific origins, only revealing that they came from deeper within Ame No Kumi. While the Kage was curious about the newcomers, his curiosity soon changed to eager delight as the family of bloodlimit users offered their talents as shinobi for the village. The Amekage accepted the family into his ranks at once, giving the adults full shinobi ranks, and sending the the young daughter to the academy. Under the kage, the Sansutomu family utilized their talents to help restore Amegakure as best as they could. The gangs and bandits were reluctant to give up the power they held over the village, so the kage’s battle to reclaim Amegakure was long and hard, fraught with strife.
It was in this time of unrest and social tension that Takeshi grew up. He was forced to learn at an early age to stay on his toes. In the streets of Amegakure, it was easy to get injured or even killed if one wasn’t careful. As the son of a high ranking shinobi and the owner of a bloodlimit, Takeshi was anything but a welcome friend to the other kids of the village. The children resented Takeshi’s lucky birth, never passed up an opportunity to show it. Takeshi was a constant target for bullying and persecution by others. The one time he tried to tell his parents about his treatment, his grandfather quickly punished him for showing weakness. “I will not have my grandson crying to his mother with every problem he faces!” the old man growled as treated Takeshi with a chakra shock. “You carry the legacy of our family. You will be strong, or I will not suffer you to live.”
Needless to say this event is what in part shaped Takeshi’s mind set in the following years. Rather than go to anyone else for help, he relied on himself, turning inward and focusing on his training and his studies to tune out his ridicule and alienation. He became sullen and serious, his only hobby sitting at a window and watching the rain. He couldn’t talk to his family due to interference from his grandfather, and he couldn’t talk to his peers do to their general hatred towards him. Fortunately things would get better.
As Takeshi entered the academy and began showing real promise, the kids around slowly stopped seeing him as a lucky brat, and more as a useful ally. He began finding himself surrounded by people wanting to be his “friend,” usually only for their own gain. Despite their obvious ulterior motives, Takeshi was grateful for the change in attitude, as it finally allowed him to have the real social interaction he had been lacking. The damage, however, had already been done. Takeshi was unable to connect with anyone around him, even those who’s intentions were sincere. The neglect and mistreatment he was shown as a child created a shell that protected Takeshi from true feelings, while at the same time keeping everyone else out.
Takeshi graduated from the academy with honors. It was around this time that a new Amekage stepped up to the mantle, under the promise of change. It was this Kage, Enzo Kakuhiro, that Takeshi would be serving as a shinobi. Before he was ready to take on any missions, however, Takeshi had to learn the basics of the Sansutomu bloodlimit. Under the tutelage of his mother, father, and grandfather, Takeshi learned the keiro release channeling techniques, the basis for his bloodlimit jutsu. The rest, he was told, he would have to learn on his own.
