Other items were also thrown as in the fashion of bo-shuriken, such as kogai (ornamental hairpin), kogata (utility knife) and hashi (chopsticks), although these items were not associated with any particular school of shurikenjutsu, rather they were more likely just thrown at opportune moments by a skilled practitioner who was skilled in a particular method or school.

Character Depth
Personality:
A mixture of introspection and curiosity, Shiro constantly looks towards the world in search of new wonders. It is this that propels him on his quest to become a doctor, constantly looking for sources of increased knowledge. Shiro’s intellect however remains the young man’s most infallible quality as he begins to move forward in life. It appeared in his early childhood, noted to be exceptionally bright. It has since stuck with, having been his guiding light for some time. It became a form of insurance almost, being able to think his way through any uncertainty. The young man takes great pride in this ability, a little much even.
Shiro is for better or worse a tried and true optimist. He constantly looks towards the good in others, seemingly finding shreds of humanity, where none were thought before. At times this crosses over into the world of naivety which many are quick to point out, to the young man’s detriment. He’s quick to trust, even when there’d be no logical reason to do so. As he puts it, everyone is capable of being trusted unless proven otherwise. This has on more than one occasion gotten him into a bit of hot water, but he simply shrugs them off and continues on his merry way.
Often times he feels like the weight of the world is upon him, mostly due to the immense expectations placed on him from such a young age. This causes him to respond very negatively to criticism and failure, beating himself up mercilessly over it. The lens of subjectivity is far reaching; it makes one feel helpless almost. He wished more than anything for his naysayers to disappear, but to no avail they never do. His parents, one of the reasons for his anxiety, brush it off as a simple phase. Time and time again he’s noticed this, irking him to no end.
This anxiety is quick to fade in the company of others however, replaced by an energetic, playful demeanor. Shiro would consider himself a pretty big sports fan, jumping to play them at every opportunity. They serve as his primary stress release from the monotony of everyday life. On the flipside of this, he isn’t all that fond of traditional board games such as Go, Shogi, and Sugoroku. Shiro enjoys little meditation and chat however he finds long talks boring and unnecessary.
When it comes to medical training, Shiro prefers hands on learning to the more routine lecture or scheduled reading. This extends to dealing with people as well, though his patience has limits. He doesn’t take lightly to obnoxious or otherwise rude patients, and would rather relegate them onto someone else. Shiro takes most cases very personally, which in many ways is a blessing as well as a curse.
Appearance:
Shiro thus aptly named, has long flowing white hair reaching down to the base of his neck. It is often times unkempt, branching off into many snowy colored bangs. The young man’s hair does well to shape his slender, tanned face accenting it quite nicely. A little lower down from his forehead lie two large gems, one blue one green. These have often been the subject of much speculation, though Shiro simply chalks it up to genetic diversity. They are often shadowed by many short, light eyelashes. His eyebrows themselves are neither pencil thin nor overly bushy, shapely being the best way to describe them.
Shiro has a tall nose which cleaves his face nicely into halves, reaching down towards his mouth. It’s deceptively small; though no in way does it restrict his ability to smile they being often times very large and warming. His chin is narrower than most, meeting his jaw line very squarely. His cheekbones are fairly normal, keeping in line with the rest of his jaw. His small ears remain a mystery to most, obscured by his flowing locks.
His body much like his face is long and slender, though compact hiding a decent amount of muscle. Shiro’s weight often times is misleading, due to the complexity of his musculature and bone structure. Kaguya bone has been noted to weigh much more than the normal variety. Shiro’s skin has been noted to be absolutely flawless lacking even the smallest of scars, most unaware of his unique disposition.
In battle Shiro normally wears a dark colored jacket, leaving it open the majority of the time. Its collar he leaves up in order to make room for an undershirt. These undershirts of his are noted to be very colorful in contrast to the jacket, wearing them more traditionally. Shiro likes shirts with buttons, though he will on occasion wear t-shirts as well. Using his clan’s techniques render his clothing unusable, so when need be he will simply fight shirtless. His pants are for the most part the same color as his jacket, though this will vary from time to time. On his hands he wears tan leather gloves, with circular bands that protrude from their wrists. Shiro also prefers to wear boots over the standard ninja sandal.
When simply lounging around, Shiro tends to wear baggy clothing, something like a t-shirt and jeans perhaps, unless of course he’s working. When working he tends to wear the standard uniform of Kirigakure, with the village’s insignia imprinted somewhere upon the back. Many have tried to get him to wear the hat, but he won’t for the life of him. It doesn’t suit him or so he claims.
Background:
Shiro lived a relatively normal existence up until he joined the Ninja Academy years back. His parents were typical nurturing, loving parents, though they would be unable to shelter him the harshness of reality much longer. Shiro was bullied relentlessly for a period of a couple years, due to his disposition. Why should he’ve had to suffer, he didn’t choose to be born after all. The other kids just didn’t understand, there was no use in trying to help them. It wasn’t until he began to mature did the bullying finally stop. He had proven to be quite sharp, his parents fostering in him an ideal of goodness that would remain with him. His self-esteem grew shortly thereafter, using his newfound gifts to win people over to his side.
They soon began to appreciate him, Shiro having become more popular than ever before. From then on he lived a good life, although he disliked his parents’ incessant nagging. Because of his he had begun to save for his own space, which he desperately needed. His pad isn’t all that glamorous now, but at least it was something he could call his own. Shiro also got a job at the Mist Village’s hospital, which to his chagrin wasn’t anything like what he expected it to be. Cleaning diapers and shaving old hairy men was pretty gross, hopefully he’d get used to it. The job did have its perks though, Shiro got to wake up late and he had an hour lunch. He surmised it would get better with the continued training he could now afford, someday inching his way up to a half-competent doctor.
Medical training for Shiro took place at night, allowing him to work during the day. Homework wasn’t too bad, most of the assignments entailed taking up time at the nearby clinic which was pretty simple. Shiro just had to answer a few questions here and there, questions that most people should just know the answer to. And then there were the hypochondriacs which frequented the clinic far too often for their own good. They quite honestly were gigantic pains in his ass, but all he really had to do was, “yes them to death.” Then finally they’d leave him alone.
After about his sixteenth birthday, he noticed an oddity. He began to get sick much more frequently, until it dawned on him. He was dying albeit slowly as a result of his clan’s characteristic illness. For the time being it could be managed with a combination of medication and the occasional checkup, but he had to be sure not to overdo things. The treatments were excruciatingly painful, something Shiro didn’t look forward to in the slightest. It was surely an eye-opener, something that really woke him up to his own mortality. He realized he wasn’t as invincible as he once thought himself to be.
Shiro went through a period of intense depression, only to come out of it much stronger than he was previously. This was due to the immense amount of struggle in the eyes of cases he saw every day. Many of them had it worse off than he, and they were just as vibrant as always, so why should he have the right to complain? This along with talks from his parents led way towards acceptance, and finally a modicum of hope. Hope for a bright and shining future.
