Chapter 1
The Bad Beginning
The Bad Beginning
A girl the age of six rushed to her village in Kirigakure, two necklaces made of seashells inside her small palms. She held a bright smile on her face, happy about what she had accomplished. The young female went by the name of Hikari Maeko.
Her hair was an ebony black and it held a bland shine. Hikari had piercing turquoise orbs, otherwise known as her eyes. She inherited this from her mother's side of the family.
Hikari had went to a nearby lake that held many shells. With this, she created two necklaces especially made for her mother and father. Now at the Maeko Compound, she rushed to her family's home.
In the house, there lived her father, mother, older sister, grandmother, and Hikari herself.
The very first thing she saw was her sister, Aiko, sitting at the dining room table reading the local newspaper. Hikari then ran up to Aiko, ready to tramatize her with two annoying questions.
"Aiko-chan, where is grandmother?" she asked. Aiko peered her chocolate brown eyes from the newspaper, "Oh, she said she went to go get groceries. We're low on food supply. And call me Onee-chan, for respect." Hikari nodded, she knew her family wasn't the richest, but they certainly weren't poor. "Where is mother and father?" Hikari wondered.
"Hm....they should be in their rooms." Aiko answered, yawning right after. Hikari smiled again and took off to her parent's room. As soon as she entered she put on a small smile, shutting the door gently behind her.
"They're sleeping," she thought. But little did the girl know that her parents weren't alseep. Hikari went to go wake her mother first. "Mom!! I have something to give you, please wake up!" Hikari gently shook her mother's arm, trying to awaken her. She pouted a little before waking her father next. "Father! I have a surprise for you. Will you wake up?" Hikari groaned when she didn't recieve a reply.
She hopped downstairs to her older sister. "Aiko! Mom and dad won't move a muscle!" Hikari exclaimed. Aiko raised an eyebrow at the frustrated Hikari, "Fine, fine. If I check on them, will you let me read peacefully?" Hikari nodded obediently.
Aiko sighed before setting down the newspaper onto the table and heading upstairs. She knocked on their parent's door mutiple time, ending up with no answer. "Mother, Father?" Aiko said as she slightly turned the knob to push their door open.
Aiko went to her father's side and touch his massively pale skin. Though she quickly pulled back as she felt the freezing skin of her father, "....he isn't breathing." Aiko whispered, hoping Hikari wouldn't hear. "Hikari, get on my back, now." Aiko commanded. Hikari smiled brightly again and jumped on her sister's back, causing Aiko to growl as the weight came upon her.
"Hikari, I want to know something."
"And what is that, Onee-chan?"
"What ever happens to me, will you run and get help?" Aiko said quietly. "W-what do you mean?" Hikari said, worry showing in her aqua eyes. Aiko didn't answer, instead she leaped out the window, searching for their grandmother. Surprised at her sudden actions, Hikari's petite hand had dropped the necklaces, the seashells shaddering over the wooden floors.
Hikari didn't have time to react, her sister was already jumping through the forest. Hikari wasn't in the Kirigakure academy, but she already knew how to use chakra to jump quickly. But her speed can't even compare to Aiko's.
Soon they landed in the marketing district of Kirigakure. Aiko rushed through the crowd, clutching Hikari so she wouldn't fall off. They didn't have time to stop. Aiko was panting and weezing, panicing to search for their only guardian. Hikari was very confused and didn't know what was going on. Her parents were just alseep, right?
Wrong.
Aiko soon saw they person she was looking for, she came to a sudden stop. "Obaa-chan!!!" Hikari shouted gleefully, Aiko sneered at Hikari's cheerful attitude in the stituation they were in. Though Aiko knew that Hikari was only six, and didn't know what was going on. Their grandmother's attention snapped from the peddler to her grandchildren. "Ah, Aiko, Hikari. What are you doing outside from the Compound? Are your parents with you?" she spoke.
Aiko whispered something in their grandmother's ear, but she spoke oh-so softly that Hikari couldn't hear. As soon her whispering fest was finished, their granny had dropped the packs and bags and retreated back to the Maeko Compound.
At the Maeko Compound
Eleven year old Aiko had put down Hikari, racing into their parent's room again. "...Oh...No...", their grandmother moaned. "W-what's going on? How come nobodies telling me anything!?" young Hikari exclaimed, demanding an answer. "...Hikari...You're too young. It's best if we tell you as you get older..." Hikari was already bursting into tears, letting the streams streak down her face. Aiko had an apologetic look and kneeled in front of Hikari, holding out her hand. "Hikari, it's okay. It's good that you don't know."
"B-but w-why!!" Hikari sniffled through each word. Aiko looked away, and so did her grandmother; they decided not to answer. "Like I said....Hikari....your too young."
Days after their parent's death, they were buried and a schelded their funeral a week later.
For the past months, Hikari and Aiko trained with their grandmother, getting ready for the academy.
