Shooting at US Cinema Screening of Batman 3

FROM BBC: At least 14 people have been killed in a shooting at a Batman film premiere in the US city of Denver, police say.

About 50 people have been injured in the incident, police say.

Witnesses say a gunman wearing a gas mask opened fire at the cinema complex in Aurora, at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

There are reports the gunman released a smoke bomb during the incident. Police say they have one suspect in custody. Many ambulances are at the scene.

The Swedish Medical Center, not the area's main hospital, told the BBC it had received three gunshot victims.

A witness told 9News that during a shooting scene in the film he heard loud bangs and a lot of smoke and initially thought they were live special effects put on by the cinema.

Projectiles came through the wall from the neighboring theater screening, the witness said.

CNN quoted one witness saying: "A guy slowly making his way up the stairs and firing - picking random people."

Hearing about this on my local morning news. Serious, WTF is wrong with people these days? What? Couldn't he get a ticket? Think he's the RL Joker or something? Or just in the midst of a psychotic break? I can't fathom what this guy's motivation was.

But yeah, I also heard a bit about that today. It was on the channel when I turned on the tv. At the moment I saw, they were just going on and on and on about the kids. I think they said non were hurt I think, but yeah they were still going on about that in particular.

Man, I didn`t know it was during the premiere of the batman movie though. Ya know, it`ll be fucked up if the movie actually makes more money because of that news story. Which I know people will think about it when they remember about that shooting.

This is so sad. Im very much hoping that they DONT root the reason why he did this to video games. There was a shooting in sweden or norway a few months back and the shooter did it because of Modern warfare game.


I hope this guy goes to jail big time. Than again american law system in a bit wonky. I'm still waiting for zimmerman to get his ass hauled to jail for something he's guilty of.

The guy in Norway didn't do it because of Modern Warfare. He did it because he was a racist and just wanted to shoot a bunch of kids.

Either way its just a matter nof time before this sick freak goes to jail. I just looked it up and Colorado does have the death penalty. Do you think he will get it? Whether or not he does im sure justice will be served.


Apparently this guy was wearing a bullet proof vest and gas mask like Bane does in the movie. Anybody else thinks this is a case of fanboy gone demented? I can only hope that the families in this are alright. You go to see a fun movie and than this happens.I can only hope really that the rest of their summer goes well after this.

My question is how did he get into the cinema? There's no way he could have hid an AK-47 and the other things I heard he had on him that easily. I hope the police figure out how he did this because this tragedy I believe was something that could have been prevented.

He had tear gas and he went into the place using the emergency door, so it's not like he was waiting in line like a chump with a semi-automatic tucked into his pants. Also, how the fuck do you prevent psychotics from deciding they want to go murder a roomful of people? They're psychotic, the best chance you have is figuring out if their posts on /b/ saying they're going to do it are real or not.

Edit: Not to detract from the severity of the whole thing, it sucks pretty hard for the families of the dead.

He didn't come in through the front doors of the theater. ironically he came in from the exit doors theaters have near the screen. Its been reported that he"crashed" through the exit door and than everything went from there. Not sure how he crashed through the exit door but he did,

I'm not usually an advocate for gun control. Hell, I love guns. Still, I feel like selling people assault rifles is complete bogus. No one should ever need one. I wouldn't go hunting with an AK-47, nor would I use it to defend my home (unless an army of robbers came?). So either the news is lying about the guns being bought legally or... yeah.

You can buy an AK-47. It's legal. However it can't be an automatic.

I dont understand guns. Does that mean it will be able to repeatedly fire? because thats what that guy did. Whole bunch of sites are starting to update with info about the incident. More info from the people in the theater like that article there.

Yea it's legal to own all sorts of ridiculous weapons like rocket launchers and flamethrowers.

I find it odd that you can have a knife that can also shoot bullets (a knife/pistol)... but you can't own a ballistic knife.

I don't know where it says AK-47, but he went in with a rifle, 2 handguns, and a knife. The thing that ticks me off the most though, is that there was this couple, Jessica and Brent. She was shot in the leg and she was pleading people to call the police. Brent was applying pressure while calling the police. Then he realized she wasn't screaming because of the gunshot wound and saw that she was shot in the head. Then to make matters worse come to find out that Jessica was involved in another shooting a month ago in Toronto. She survived one, to die in another.

Now politicians of both aspects of the coin are coming out. Liberals saying he was Conservative and attacking Conservatives saying he was Liberal and was attacking Christian beliefs. Texan politicians saying this wouldn't have happened if people were allowed to carry guns in the theater. Politicians saying remove all gun laws and make it completely illegal and this wouldn't have happened. Enough of this. People died that's a state of life. Whether we remove all the gun laws or not people will still get their hands on guns. I live next to the worst city in the northern hemisphere called Juarez Mexico. It's illegal for citizens to carry guns, but there are more gun related deaths in that one city than the whole Northern Hemisphere put together.

Then to allow everyone and everything to own a gun is also stupid because there's a lot of mentally unstable people. This guy is one of them. The man even had a freaking Phd.

Oh, I was just using an AK-47 as an example assault rifle. That being said, I think I've heard news reporters say AK-47 or AR-15. Pretty sure they have no idea what they're talking about. That being said, I kind of assumed he had an automatic. Now I take that back and I'll probably say he had a semi-auto rifle.

Regardless of fire rate, I'd say a standard assault rifle magazine is too large for just personal use. I'd have to look at Colorado gun laws to see if they put limits or not. I know my state, California, magazines are capped at ten rounds. Gonna guess that Colorado has a similar limit, but if not, that's a little foolish.

I agree that the media has no idea what it's talking about when it comes to guns. If they said it was an M16 or an AK47 that just means it wasn't a pistol lol.

Media is gonna be the media is gonna be the media. There are some tactics and methods how the media goes about things. Other places with a story that`s too different from one another is no surprise to me. But I guess this thread is going a too deep for me to post anymore after this one.
