As Baek trudged along the winding roads feathered with leaning willows and stubborn jungle shrubs that bled out into grasslands housing any number of predators seeking to do him harm he remained vigilant. Hand ever ready at his sword’s side his stoic expression was a mixture of concentration and sanguinity; the sort of combination bred in one who knew his way around a sword, yet was never satisfied with his ability to use it.
His travel took time and energy, both of which he had willingly given up since he wished to see other lands, but as his journey continued his equipment began to grow heavy on him and where he had once been attentive and prepared for any necessary adjustments his readiness began to wane. Finally giving over to exhaustion Baek took a break, taking time to thumb through his belongings while also wondering what awaited him in Taki no Kuni. Truthfully he had no map; it was not something he could have asked his kage for given the woman seemed to be busy at all hours of the day. He’d never been anywhere except Kusa no Kuni his place of birth and even then he was certain there were parts that were beyond his viewing. Given perspective by how unworldly he was Baek gathered his cloak about him with defiant firmness, determined to make his destination in time to aid in the disturbance plaguing the land.
“Some direction or an aid might have been nice to have been given along with the information…” Baek complained to no one in particular as he surveyed the familiar landscape of his country. Not having much sense for direction he settled for closing his eyes and sensing the direction of the wind. To the best of his judgment he found his cloak billowing northward, the largest water-logged region of the country. Here, swamps were commonplace and any number of meat-eating lizards could have their way with a unwary traveler at a moment’s notice.
He had only managed to gather that much from his classes at the ninja academy---which of course were limited in the detail they could have extrapolated upon during class making the entire exercise of calling upon lessons an exercise in futility. Cursing himself for not being more inquisitive about geography he headed in the direction of the wind which held the familiar scents of sweat, grass, and freshness in the air not knowing where it would carry him. Only the sudden interjection of rushing water gave him any direction after that and Baek could do nothing other than follow the small tributaries until they bled into larger rivers which continued to snake through the land. Time passed irreverently. Each second sapping of him of his constitution until he was breathing heavily with each step. Several times Baek was forced to stop, to work out cramps that had built up and stubbornly refused to go away. His skin became calloused from constantly remaining in the sun and his muscles strained against his skin as new cells built over the torn shredded ones. Slowly, his body adjusted to the sparse feedings and general hardships to be endured until the task became somewhat manageable.
The going was never easy especially since the sulfurous swamps took their toll on him, forcing him to use chakra to leap from tree to tree and expend precious energy needed to continue on.
Truly the swamps weren’t nearly quite so bad. It was simply that as the course of the voyage went on he became increasingly aware of his body’s limitations. His state of mind became a matter of import for without this he would have surely collapsed. By the time the land began to level off and the volume of water began to grow his bones ached with the bitter sweetness of sleep deprivation, he was certain he would collapse where his stood. He might have had he not spared a glance over a plateau where he had paused to fill his lungs with air. A waterfall… He had never seen one in his life, but immediately the expression fitted itself to logic as he watched the curtain of liquid simply ‘fall’ over the edge of the cliff he perched upon. Lifting his gaze to the rest of the land he saw that this was the case in many places. Rainbows sparkled in numerous places were the cascade lapped up the liquid several feet from the pooling bodies of water.
“This must be Taki no Kuni,” Baek murmured breathlessly. The magnificence of the place swatted his tiredness away leaving him invigorated and eager to continue his course. If the general landscape was this beautiful then there was no telling what Takigakure would look like.
[OOC: I was uncertain if I could actually train a tech while traveling. If can't then please just do the move and I'll forget about the tech until a later date. If possible I would like to receive the TP for this.]
