۞ ZEPHYR ROTH ۞
]Nothing gold can stay -Robert Frost;[
The true meaning of a beautiful mind, isn't one that excels academically. It is not one that contains a larger capacity to house creativity. If we assume the only true purpose in life is to enjoy every experience within it, then a truly majestic mind would be one who remained forever in bliss. There is nothing other than joy filled in a child's life, specifically that of one; Zephyr Roth, child of the snow and successor to the ice. His mother was an exceptionally well-kept woman, every corner of every pore would gleam with a radiant shine of cleanliness mirrored by having a quaint, pale-white complexion. Alyce was a good wife, and better yet, graceful ninja. The father played a prominent role too, Felix Roth was a somewhat nurturing father with an overprotective but warranted desire to shelter his son away from the Shinobi World. Born of men who built themselves like bears, Felix stood over men like a giant.
Both parents were born with the rare Kekkei Genkai of Ice Manipulation, unique to those of Kaishin descent. As such the origins of Zephyr's people reside in Kirigakure and it's cold environment. But here the story begins in Otokagure, on the outskirts of the central area, neatly tucked away by river and bush, this was the house of Roth. Occasionally strangers would pass by, to be met with what some considered miracles. A miracle born from peaceful Shinobi who wanted to provide a serene but familiar atmosphere for their beloved son, the miracle of winter. All season round the ground would remain a glass-like sheet of ice, it would even snow on a weekend day. This fondest memory, one of many examples that would continue to ensure that Zephyr remained a truly beautiful being.
To their dismay, but not surprise, Zephyr had inherited their grandiose abilities. While it was neither's intentions to encourage this growth, the boy was made to understand exactly the whats and whys about his parents choice. He would be allowed to practice with his father, but over their dead bodies would he have a career in the Shinobi world. Life can be cruel when you least expect it, such is a fact and as the years passed, seasoned Shinobi like both Alyce and Felix were not unduly shocked when tragedy struck. Both had obtained their Kage's leave and were not in hiding, but their presence was urgently demanded, back home in the Mist. Alyce was not amused, she had always enjoyed the beauty of winter, but the depressing cold of Kirikagure was no place to raise a child.
Resisting the urge to flee their responsibilities, both Shinobi return ed to Mist, and left their son in the care of his grandfather. Felix Senior, a man who views life as a glass half empty, a stickler to and proud supporter of the 'noble Kiri-Regime'! War was his answer to anything posited, but lucky for him Zephyr was short on choices. Opting to go against his sons wishes, Felix Sr resolved to teach the boy Ninjutsu and after hard graft from both his Clan members and his grandfather, he had achieved the prestigious ability of Water Release. Remarkably, this had no impact on Zephyr's purity. Whether it was training for a test or simply playing ninja-games with the other children in the snow, his boundless supply of good-cheer and no-worry continued to thrive.
It was around this time in his life that the Mist Government were having problems with the current Mizukage. Uchiha Anotsu, 'Tsukuyomi' carried the burden of being Mists's Kyudaime Mizukage, one of his own ideals and beliefs that somewhat disagreed with the officials. Both Alyce and Felix remain to this day, casualties of the selfish decisions made by either one. Their death was untimely and entirely accidental, the circumstances of which weren't revealed to little Zephyr. They were mourned, but their teachings never left the boys mind, to be happy is the only purpose he was obligated to serve.
Zephyr expressed a desire to leave Kirigakure and return to the place he considered his true home, that little house where it was always winter, a small piece of magic in Otogakure. Felix Sr disagreed strongly with this decision as the Kaishin ability was very much sought after in the Mist, his future as a ninja would be jump-started if he continued to perform as such. With his parents no longer alive to appeal against his enrollment, Felix Sr would be able to place Zephyr into the academy. And Zephyr would be afraid, afraid that his parents ideals and wishes would die on the whim of a stubborn old man. Continuing along the path of obedience, Zephyr awaited his chance.
Indeed it came, the Mizukage had seemingly come to the conclusion that justice must be taken into his own hands. Whoever's justice was right didn't matter much the Zephyr, only that in the confusion and commotion they caused, Zephyr was allowed an opportunity to flee this miserable land. What was not accounted for was the spiteful nature of his grandfather. After Zephyr's plot was found, Felix Sr imposed his previous stature upon a now weakened and confused Kirigakure, within his own Kaishin clan, and attempted to forced Zephyr's name to be synonymous with one; Exile.
Zephyr had striven to return to Sound, the possibility of a normal life now dashed by his grandfather, seeking refuge in a place that he felt most safe seemed like the logical thing to do. However returning to Otogakure was no easy feat. With a minor ability in Ninjutsu coupled with several basic Kaishin maneuvers, Zephyr was subject to a fierce journey. Traveling through waters on boats that weren't aware of his presence, crossing the foreign lands of Claw and Fire which all culminated in his final arrival, back at Sound.
So what was the plan now? Zephyr feared that the Mist would try to locate him, being of Kaishin ancestry made him slightly useful as military might, while technically he was still of their village. If he were to be a ninja, he would not allow himself to be forced to do anything other than what he was taught. To seek joy from everything. The conclusion was made that Zephyr would attempt to seek refugee and citizenship in Otogakure, as one of their official Genin. But first he returned to the house of his memories, so he could live in the snow.
A little time passed, and Zephyr had proceeded to approach the Kage of Otogakure. Explaining his situation at length, and how his desire to follow a path of ninjahood despite his parents wishes, the Otokage had in turn agreed to allow Zephyr in through the academy. It was here that Zephyr spent time honing his craft as a ninja, until eventually the second landmark in his Clan's learning curve arrived, the acquisition of Ice Release. Eventually Zephyr was promoted to Genin, his first desire upon achieving this title was simple; to his house feel like home once more. The fields of ice and everlasting snow would rest here.
