It had taken some time for the mercenary to arrive in this land, and even longer for him to track down a master. Honda Rai was, in Lightnings mind, an excellent master, and they had started training in his dojo swiftly, along with a number of other students.
Having already been trained in two sword styles, Lightning was quite familiar with the wooden practice sword he had been given, and was far more advanced then the dimwits surrounding him. He gave a sigh as two simply dropped their weapons, for no apparent reason. Allowing his mind to wander as the master disciplined them, he snapped back to attention as the lesson began.
It was a simple stance, quite similar to some of the ones he knew. Holding a blade with two hands, one held the long blade diagonally, with the point resting between your eyes and the center of your opponents neck. Scrutinizing the master of the dojo carefully, Lightning attempted to mimic the footing most of all. Grasping the blade was a simple task that took him no time at all to accomplish: you simply held the blade at a certain angle. Your footing was important: resting on the balls of your feet, dominant leg forward. The white-robed assassin edged himself into the position and held it, waiting for the approval of the master; a master who was currently berating another idiot.
