"I thought you were better than this,"
Embarrassments come in a lot of different forms, from something like a stumble, to forgetting someone's name, to pissing off some sort of Non-Ninja, Samurai team. Turns out they don't take kindly to ninja, and definitely don't take kindly to knives in the eye. It also turns out that none of them could be considered beginners in Gyakusatsu; Every one of them was Koushou at the last.
Siobhan chuckled a little through the pain at the thought of stabbing that little blonde shithead in the eyeball with one of the two kunai kept in her utility belt. She would have used one of the six throwing knives, but the positions of the kunai on both sides of the buckle made them easy to grab, and the triangular, wedge shaped tip had just enough stabbing power to mangle the bastard's eye without killing him.
His friends weren't to happy about that, and neither was he, so their decision to try and kill her didn't come as a shock. What was shocking was the sudden appearance of Chakra Swords in their hands. The dockside bar, one of several, was usually home to a wide variety of individuals, some ninja and some not, but it was her luck that on that day a ship called The St. Seiya came to Yuki no Kuni's ports, and on this ship was 14 men, led by a captain with intense dark eyes and golden hair; all of them skilled swordsman and, apparently, chakra users.
She -had- three small cases filled with Makibishi on her belt, but her escape from the bar required her to drop the handful during her escape. The two fragmentation grenades weren't ideal for the location either, too many people. The two smoke grenades that sat just parallel to the explosives were probably a better choice, but once the beams of blue light exploded into their hands, she was out of the bar faster than she could have drawn one of those grenades. Didn't get a chance to use the shuriken hidden in the buckle either, nor the three sets of them on her left side just under her arm, because one of the swordsman shot their sword like a missile, and it put a hole right through the door she was running through, inches from her face.
"You fucking whore get back here! You lot, fucking kill her! Go! Go!" Frantic screams leaded with curses rang from the captain, and his troops leaped up like frogs to follow his commands. They chased her from the bar, and into the small port town, and right out the other side with the blonde pulling up the rear.
Siobhan had quickly veered off the road that led into Yuki no Kuni proper, and took shelter in a burned out home, half collapsed by some old tragedy. She slid through a broken window on the shack's wider side and kept one eye open to watch the road. She was only really 15 or so meters from the path, and with the only thing between the sailors now marching down the road and herself being a foot of wood, her chances of getting out unscratched were looking slim.
Her left hand gripped the handle of the crossbow at her thigh, but before she even pulled the weapon free, she remembered it was useless; she hadn't bought any bolts after the last time. Her eyes closed for a second as she sighed at her own stupidity. Guess it's the old fashioned way. Her hood went up and she went still, and to untrained or unfocused eyes, it would begin to look as though her silhouette was fading into the shadows cast by the wall, the dark streamlined fabrics left no jagged or jarring edges, nor vertexes to attract the eyes, and with long sleeves, pants, and boots as black as the rest of her clothing she essentially became a singular form; a dark patch on a dark patch.
Her fingers tapped the compartments near the back of her belt, the less used ones, and moved over the flint container, Flashlight, and glass cutters to come to the thin, light goggles she owned. The lenses were tinted, and when worn, served to continue the darkening effect on her face to further shroud her appearance. Not to mention it allowed her to zoom into her targets without her dojutsu.
Ready now, she waited as the Sailors began to trickle into the bordering treeline; the pines were smaller and more spaced out so close to the shoreline, leaving varying gaps of 10 and 15 meters between them, filled only with soft grass warmed by Yuki's summer sun. 9 of them had chased her, including the captain, and they were all beginning to spread and search for her; three of them going to check the burnt out ruin she was hiding in.
"I really thought you were better than this,"
Apparently she thought wrong.
