How many years had it been since Aimi had last set foot in this land? It had to be at least eight, though he was sure it was more than that somehow. He couldn't remember, his time away had been so long and he had been so distracted with so many things. Being back in the land of snow, the yuki no kuni, was a strange feeling for him. He felt at once at home and a stranger, come home changed and yet the place was exactly the same. It was just as snowy as he remembered it being, and the mountains were and tall and proud as ever in the distance. Before, when he was smaller, they had seemed impossibly big. Now that he was older, he knew better. They weren't impossible at all, and he didn't feel so tiny looking at them.
Behind him, Sasuke of the Tsubasa and Hiriluk, the doctor that had agreed to come along with them, were just getting off of the ship. The dock was a bit crowded with locals and visitors alike, buying this and that and interacting with one another. Aimi looked at them all, a bit bewildered, feeling as if he were returning to family even though he had never seen any of them before. Maybe he was just tired, he had been a long journey after all. It had taken them seven days to get to the small island nation Yuki no Kuni. Starting from the kusagakure, they had made their way to the waterfall country on the first day. They would have gotten further, except that Hiriluk wasn't a ninja nor did he have wings. To solve this dilemma, Sasuke bought Hiriluk a horse to ride. He was reluctant at first, but after seeing the logic of it he agreed and rode the horse for the rest of the journey. They made their way across neutral territories after that and then cut across the oto no kuni and then across the land of hot springs and into the country of lightning. It took them a day to reach the dock that would eventually take them to the yuki no kuni and another day to arrive, bringing them to the present.
"So Aimi, how common is this bird we're looking for?" Sasuke asked, walking up beside Aimi. Responding quickly, Aimi said, "It's fairly common, arctic terns can be found anywhere it's cold really so we should have a quick time about it." Sasuke nodded and looked around the dock, thinking of how to make this quicker. It would take them another week to get back from there, so he wanted this to be done as quickly as possible. From behind the two, Hiriluk spoke up for the first time in a couple of days, saying, "Aimi, shouldn't you be wearing something over those wrappings...? Could be very damaging for your feet if you get frostbite..."
Aimi turned around and smiled at Hiriluk. Leave it tot he doctor to think up a medical concern and mention it. He couldn't have known that Aimi had lived here for years and knew just how to deal with frostbite, both from experience and from his own medical know how. "Don't worry. My feet are tough and I know how to avoid frostbite in these kinds of environment. You don't need to worry about me, but judging by the way you're shivering I'd worry about yourselves..." In testament to Aimi's claim, both Hiriluk and Sasuke began to shiver violently, wrapping their arms around their chests. Neither of them were used to such temperatures, but Aimi had lived this snowy life for years before moving inland. The body remembers, and his knew how to be cold. Chuckling, he walked past Sasuke and waved his hand forward, the sign for the two of them to follow. Reluctantly they did, following Aimi's lead into the snowy wilds.

They didn't have to go too far from the harbor before finding exactly what Aimi was looking for, or rather the first part to it. On their way there, Aimi and Sasuke had studied up on the habits and likely locations of arctic terns and their nests. They kept their nests on the ground as it turned out with camouflaged nests and eggs. So when they came across a small rock bay not thirty minutes away from the dock, Aimi's hopes rose as did Sasuke's. They both were thinking that they might be going home sooner than expected. Hiriluk, on the other hand, was just thinking of the temperature out there and how quickly frostbite could set in for them. Aimi and Sasuke agreed to go their separate ways in search for a nest. They didn't see any terns around, but that didn't mean they weren't nested here. It just meant that they were out. Hiriluk just sat at the edge of the rock bay and hugged himself to fight off the cold.
The two hunters leaned down, their heads low, looking for any sign of the baby terns they were looking for. After about five minutes, Sasuke was able to locate a small group of eggs that he could identify as the terns', but no luck on the birds themselves. He called this out to Aimi who took it as a good sign and kept looking. Then, out of the corner of his eye, something caught his eye. It was small an grey and he could have swore it moved... could it be...?
