Truth be told, Kiyoshi didn’t know jack shit about animals, he just knew that they could be useful for poisons or treatments or even good for companions. All around they were useful, and he was currently looking for some sort of bird companion, just a small thing that he could use for scouting. And if he could learn more about other animals while he did it, then that would certainly be a bonus.

For the moment he was merely walking down a path in the rural countryside, keeping his eyes looking up towards the canopies of trees because he figured that was where birds would be. And he did figure that he could use the binoculars in his utility belt, as they had zooming vision S rank, night vision, thermal vision, camera vision, x-ray vision, condition-viewing, and lie-detector lenses. He also had a wireless radio, six blood clot pills, and a metal mateki in a special holder on his hip, but those probably wouldn’t be useful. Perhaps the seventy-five butterflies attracted to the fifteen blue petunias underneath his blue and white kimono could help him search, but he wasn’t sure. And he certainly didn’t want any birds trying to eat them.

As a shinobi he should never be caught off guard, but as he concentrated on trying to find this bird he simply didn’t notice the one coming up from behind him until he felt another body pressing against his own. Startled, he quickly whipped around and dropped one of his hands down to his flute, but as he saw that the other didn’t seem to harbor any ill intentions, he visibly relaxed. Though he was certainly still prepared in case something else was to happen, keeping an eye on this stranger. And when he had turned around the village symbol on his headband was revealed, the etched metal piece attached to a blue cloth.

“Kiyoshi, and so am I,” the genjutsu master introduced himself warmly, a kind grin on his face that he managed to make look genuine from practice, even though it wasn’t. And he offered his right hand out to the fallen alleged ninja, and with how the other was sitting on the ground there was a fairly good possibility that the other could see the various butterflies and flowers that were underneath the dark shadows of his sleeve. “So what’re you doing out here, anyway? I came out to look for animals myself and learn more about the, but I’m not having the best of luck,” he admitted with a sheepish grin, almost nervous grin along with a sort of awkward chuckle. Again both masterfully faked as part of his façade.

When the other mentioned being out here with a couple animals, Kiyoshi looked around for them curiously, blinking in surprise when he spotted the giant beetle and wolf. It was mostly the large bug that was strange, never before had he seen one that large. “Not really, I haven’t researched any regions really, I just figured it’d be easy enough to just come out and look for things. It hasn’t been quite that easy, though,” he admitted with a light chuckle, keeping up his light hearted demeanor with ease.

A smirk pulled at his lips at the other’s words, amusement dancing in his deep blue orbs. “I don’t mind,” he said as his smirk turned into an apparently genuine smile instead, and he was able to withhold any teasing comments with ease for now. “Do you travel outside of the village often, to look for herbs?” Kiyoshi would honestly probably like it if the other did stare a little more, but he wasn’t about to start trying to draw more attention to himself.

Effect: User gains the knowledge of Animals found in a Region. User understands and knows what the Animal is and if the Animal is dangerous or not for the certain Region.

Drawback: User must learn this technique multiple times. User must learn this technique once per Region.
Description: Every human is capable of learning types of herbs in regions found in the countries they are from. A user may only learn three regions before going into Animalist Specialist. The Regions a user may learn are regions they were brought up in which are the countries they are from, or the Hidden Village that their country is in. By knowing this technique the user knows and has basic knowledge of all Animals found in one Region.
Limit: Anyone is capable of learning unless they reach their limit, then user must be an Animal. Must learn off of the Animaru Narejji Bukku (Animal Knowledge Book).

Dark blue eyes blinked when the other man suddenly produced a book, certainly not having expected it. “Really now? That’s convenient,” he said as he reached out to accept the offered tome, glancing over the cover to briefly make sure it was the right book before he flipped it open and skimmed the table of contents. Though he was distracted, catching a glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye and turning to watch as the other shinobi jumped up into a tree. Just when he was about to ask what the other was doing, the man descended and was right by his side once more. “Oh no, don’t bother apologizing,” he assured with his usual smile, the one that almost always seemed to be pulling at his lips.

“Thanks,” Kiyoshi’s smile turned a little softer when his butterflies and flowers were complemented, his gaze dropping affectionately to one of his sleeves, where he knew they were just underneath. “I suppose my clan is kind of widespread, huh? I grew up in an estate full of Kitateha members, ended up here eventually,” he said as looked back down to his book, opening up to the first chapter. “Just keep looking for your herbs for a few minutes, this shouldn’t take me long,” the blonde sounded sort of distracted as he muttered that, starting to pour himself into these studies as he barely even paid any mind to what was in front of him.

As the genjutsu master had been looking over the table of contents, he noticed that there really weren’t many animals in rural regions. At the very least that meant this should be easy for him, especially since he knew that he was a fast reader. In the first chapter there were the mammals, and he spent time reading over brief descriptions of each one. It made sense to him that there would be wild cattle out here as he read about them, thinking that some had probably escaped from farms and then survived in the wilderness on their own. Same with the horses, which there were two different types of: light and heavy. All three of the hooved species would be good for carry heavy loads, he noted as he continued reading through.

The last mammals mentioned were the rodents, pesky little things that were quite common indeed. It seemed as if rats were most prominent within the rural region, and the thought of running into a swarm of them sent a shiver down his spine. Flipping the page, he found himself on the next chapter, this one dealing with the birds of the region. There were quite a lot of different ones, but they were all basically the same. They were all kind of small; the largest seeming to be the hawks and chickens, but the more common ones certainly caught his attention more. Just the little small birds, he couldn’t help but think of how useful they would be for gathering information because of how common they were and their small size.

Chapter three was on reptiles, and it seemed to be the shortest one out of the bunch. The main thing that was worth noting, in his opinion, would be the crop lurker. It was stated that it hid within crop rows and preyed on humans, attacking poor unsuspecting farmers. He made a mental note to look out for them if he was ever to walk near a farm, just in case. They were nasty things it seemed, and never had he even known that they existed until now. The text mentioned nothing of how to calm them down or keep from aggravating them either, so he figured that it’d be best to just try avoiding the beasts completely, if he could manage it. And if not, well, at least he would be aware of what was attacking him from the crop line.

Next were the amphibians, which only seemed to live near the rivers and ponds and lakes, of course. The giant frogs were certainly interesting, the things being able to grow from two to six feet in diameter, and it seemed as if they attacked humans on sight as well. While they weren’t quite as menacing as the crop lurkers, the book did warn of their hind legs being particularly powerful and that they attacked seemingly weaker areas. When he turned the page he blinked in surprise, not really even having known that things called fire toads even existed. For a moment he thought that maybe they could breathe fire themselves, but it turned out that wasn’t in the case. They seemed to have just been named that by their color and resistence to heat, at least that was his best guess.

The last chapter was on the insects of the region, and he couldn’t help but glance over towards Hunter’s giant beetle before he kept reading. Fire ants he certainly knew of, those damned things were a real pain in the ass from what he had heard, and what he read only confirmed the stories. Not only were they bright red, but their bites left behind an incredibly painful burning sensation as well, and not only that but they hunted by basically stinging its prey to death. It’d be a painful end, no doubt. The last noteworthy bug he read about was the dire firefly, and they were actually kind of pretty in Kiyoshi’s opinion. Two foot long dragonflies, and they glowed as well, he couldn’t help but imagine that they’d be an incredible sight to catch at night. After that he reached the end of the book, and he then flipped back to the beginning and started skimming through for anything he may have missed.
