Appearance
How something looks is very important to a certain artist, and that sure as hell includes his own looks. Kyo takes good care of himself if he can help it, tries to keep his look clean and attractive. For himself and others, as if his own body is just another piece of art he has created over the years. Though he's strictly against putting any ink in his skin, tattoo art something he frowns upon. Instead he attempts to keep himself as flawless as possible, even avoids getting scars if he can.To start at the top: a patch of dark hair, a shade that can be called black, sits atop his head. His hair is straight, lays flat against his head- any unruly strands dealt with accordingly, with a brush or comb. Washes it daily, sometimes more often if he gets dirty, keeping it soft and feeling clean to the touch. Smells of mint too, as that is the scent of the hair wash he uses. Because he has to smell good, along with look good. Actually, his skin smells fresh and of mint too, as that is also the scent of his favorite soap. Besides, he can't have the two scents clashing, now can he? No flaws wanted in the masterpiece he sees himself as.
Just below that luscious head of hair there is, of course, a face. And what a face it is- no pimples or blemishes in sight, not to mention naturally handsome. His secret? Well, he was born with the handsome bit, but he also uses a face wash daily and a cream to both keep it moisturized and, hopefully, blemish-free. The face itself is oval-shaped, everything just about where it should be and not largely out of proportion. A set of dark blue eyes set under black brows, almond in shape. His lips are a tad on the thin side, but it's not all that deterring from his, as he would like to say, handsome appearance. Behind those lips are his pearly whites, not surprisingly taken care of with three brushings a day, mint flavored paste used. Facial features are a bit sharp, defined.
In general, Kyo's body is well toned, but not particularly muscular. He hasn't trained his body extensively because he doesn't plan on becoming any sort of taijutsu specialist, knowing that the mouth-hands are unable to withstand powerful blows. Though he hasn't let himself loose either, not by a long shot. Because not only would that negatively affect his abilities as a ninja, but, more importantly, fat isn't pretty. Almost treats his body like one of his sculptures, keeping it well in shape and carefully taken care of. Weighs about one hundred fifty-nine pounds, not having much muscle mass or fat. From top to bottom, he stands at five feet, eleven inches. Isn't too tall or too short, in his opinion.
The man's skin is clean and soft, not really that much of a surprise there. Regularly washes it, as previously stated with that mint soap, and uses a scentless moisturizer as well. As much as he hates it, he has accumulated some scars over the years. Unfortunately that's unavoidable, even if he hadn't chosen such a dangerous profession. Most of the scars are nothing too large or noticeable, littered across his body from various little mishaps. Besides, most of them are easy enough to cover up with clothing. The skin itself is fair, burns red if he's out in the sun for too long, which he tries to avoid. Usually wears sunblock, just in case.
His attire consists of rather simple clothing, appealing and practical. Mostly wears solid colors to keep patterns from clashing, darker shades so he can easily mix and match. Usually wears thin, cotton, and almost tight clothing. Makes it easy for him to move around and not loose enough to get in the way. Plus it shows off his carefully maintained body as a bonus. Simple pants and a T-shirt and flexible black shoes are what he wears, if the weather allows for it. Of course he'll have a jacket if it's cold, maybe a tank-top and shorts if it's hot. And he has an assortment of beautiful silk kimonos to choose from should he go to an event that calls for it.
Personality
Kyo can seem very indifferent, like he doesn't really care for one side or the other. And that's because, well, he doesn't. True neutral seems to fit him best because he's truly selfish. Doesn't really care which side he's on, long as it benefits him somehow. Doesn't feel strongly one way or the other on some things, but he does have a sort of twisted sense of morals. Honestly, he sometimes doesn't even understand why some things are considered 'bad' while others are considered 'good'. Although that's with the things that get very close to line between the two, as it's easy for him to see the extremes, such as meaninglessly murdering an entire family. But something small like stealing something that he needs? Well... Why not?Although the usual line between good and evil is horribly blurred for him, there's another line he draws himself that's very defined. And it's between those who appreciate art and those who do not. For someone to say they dislike his works of art puts them on the side of the line he considers 'bad', and it would be hard as hell for them to convince him to change his views about them. Not to say it's impossible, but very unlikely. On the other side, if someone praises his work, he'll take an instant liking to them.
If this artist likes someone, he can be quite a reasonable and sociable guy. Might rant a bit about his art, but he usually doesn't get too bad with it... Usually. Sometimes. He just likes talking about what masterpieces he can create, or bash some types of art he doesn't think deserves to be called art. Can be very well mannered when he wants to be, too. Shows respect to those who deserve it, acts friendly towards those art-appreciators. He does seem a bit more stuck-up usually, like he's better than everyone else and only other artists are on the same level as him. Because, well, that's how things work in his sort of twisted mind.
On the flip side of things, if he doesn't like someone... Kyo can be quite nasty. Treats those who don't like his art like dirt, as if they aren't worth the time of day. Usually ignores them. Unless they really piss him off, maybe practice a type of art he doesn't deem worthy. Many insults and verbal, rarely physical battery would surly take place. Doesn't have any patience for those he doesn't like. It would be very rare for him to force himself to tolerate such a person, an example being if said person was a superior and he had to show respect. But even then he would keep contact to a minimum, avoid that person as much as possible.
Far as battle is concerned, this boy has trained as a shinobi. Can keep himself calm and collected enough to deal with threats. Although he does have a bit of a weak spot and it is, of course, his art. Quick to anger if his creations are ridiculed, most of the time. May lose a bit of his focus, but he's generally still able to function properly, still able to fight effectively- more or less. Anger can help sometimes just as it can hinder. Tries to shut out personal issues during a fight, but it doesn't always work out that way.
History
Like most of those of the Toujitakuma bloodlimit, Kyo Maeda was born within the Earth Country, in the very village where the two branches of the clan fought so many years ago… Unfortunately. When he was young, he was told of how the Tanrans and the Sankuchi fought so many years ago, how a part of their very own clan would turn against them and destroy art for money. It was unforgivable in his eyes- Hell, just destroying art was bad enough, but their motives and the fact that they turned on their own family? Even though he hadn’t even been alive at the time, it was more than enough for him to hold a grudge against a branch of his own clan.During his time within that small village, he learned many techniques of the Sankuchi, motivated to be as strong as he could to protect their art, especially from the greedy Tanrans who practically lived next door. His mother, Kayo, taught him just about all he knows about the clan techniques and sculpting. Although his father, Takeo, was more of a painter, even a part of the Li clan, taught him how to create art with a brush and paint as well, very quickly too. Though he wasn’t really all that interested in learning those techniques, far more indulged by the Toujitakuma’s famed exploding sculptures- Obsessed, almost. By the time he was eleven, he was skilled well beyond his years, even some sort of prodigy, but he didn’t really stick with it.
The thought of running away from home isn’t all that uncommon for young children, especially one who hates where he lives, such as young Kyo. Sure he wanted to protect the art, but it was difficult to go day by day living so close to those who only made art for money and even destroyed masterpieces in the past. And being young and naïve, the boy couldn’t stand it any longer, snapped and ran at the young age of eleven. The world was a dangerous place, but thanks to his skill with his bloodlimit, he wasn’t about to be eaten by the wildlife nor killed by some mediocre bandits. Having fled south without really realizing it, he ultimately ran into the edge of the vast deserts of the Land of Wind, and he went along the side of it until he ran into a caravan readying up to cross the barren hills.
This rather small group of people was made up of Dhënada clan members getting ready to cross the desert to the Dessabo branch, located in the southeastern part of the country. They weren’t heartless and eventually caved, let Kyo venture with them after he pestered them for a while. Surely he wouldn’t be followed across a desert, right? Well, that was his logic at least. The long trip wasn’t that fun, to say the least, what with the heat and how easily his skin burned, forcing himself to remain covered and, therefore, even hotter. Although within the caravan there was a young girl who was about his age, Takara Arai was her name, and she provided quite a bit of entertainment. They got along quite well and she even explained to him what her clan was all about, how they explored the mysteries of the planet and all that. Intrigued, he didn’t part with the group when they stopped for supplies at Hitofuki, stuck with them in hopes of learning more.
It was quite some time before they reached Dessabo, and he spent quite a few years there learning more and more about the clan. Sure they weren’t the most welcoming of people, but he didn’t mind, especially when he learned how one of the things the clan held in high regard was art, right up there with science and life. Kyo learned a lot in the five years he spent at that branch of the clan, damn near inseparable with Takara for a good majority of the time. She was a bit more reckless than he was and the two got into a lot of trouble, but they believed it was worth it simply because of all the fun they had. Although he wasn’t quite as involved in the clan as she was, sure he learned how to perform the techniques, but he never really learned any. Takara, on the other hand, spent a lot of time mastering them.
Five years they spent there, it took that long for Takara to grow bored of the branch and convince Kyo to leave with her. Not really wanting his best friend to go out on her own, of course he accepted and they went with the next caravan that left Dessabo and the Land of Wind altogether. Where it went they didn’t really care, and they parted with the group upon reaching the Land of the River. Heading north, they managed to make it to the Land of Rain and even stumbled upon the Village of Rain, completely by accident too. Of course they were questioned at first, as to why they were at the village, and they explained exactly how they got there and why- Even they knew that lying to ninja was a bad idea. And after the skill they each of them possessed was discovered, it was offered for them to join the academy and become ninja for the village.
Kyo was wary of this offer, knew that it meant he wouldn’t be able to spend quite as much time with his art, but with some encouragement from Takara, he finally agreed. The main selling point was that he would be able to use his sculptures to their fullest potential, to use the explosive clay against his enemies. Both of them seventeen years old by then, they stood out quite a bit in the academy, but they were also able to progress through it at a relatively fast rate since they already were well aware of how to mold chakra. It was easy for them to pass the exam and be given the title of genin, mostly because of the skills they obtained before even entering the village.
Within the Village of Rain, there was a small pottery store ran by a Tanran, something that Kyo tried very hard not to pay attention to. But about a month or so after that bastard spotted him, a Toujitakuma genin, word of it managed to get back to his home town along with a description of him. His parents ended up at the front gates not too long after, more on a wild goose chase for their only and missing child more than anything. Oh how excited they were when they found out that it really was their son, the only problem was that they couldn’t take him back home with them. Not only did he not want to go, but they couldn’t just up and leave with a ninja, not safely at least. So they bought a small house there, opened up an art shop simply to pay the bills and share their creations.
[/tbody]
[/div]
