||appearance.—
[Image.]
Pale bleached hair dangles freely from his skull, stretching down to his brow and kept short in length. It's naturally spiked to a slight degree, ragged and untamed. His physique is lean and strongly built, weighing precisely 122.3 pounds and standing at 5'07". Strenuous training has presented Toraku with a powerfully toned physical appearance. The cerulean eyes inherited by his Kaguya father stare blankly at the world from behind wintry tresses hung overhead, emptiness lingering within his gaze. Sky hued eyes can be distinguished even in dully lit areas. Hair bangs commonly prevent sunlight from interfering with the optic nerves. Only centimeters of dark brown expose Toraku's true hair tint. His color of flesh is lightly toned, evenly silken throughout his entire body. Constricting his cranium is his proud Mist Village headband with the metal plate spread horizontally at the left side of Toraku's skull. He has strong cheek bones and an angular face that closes to a narrowed chin.
The more noticeable features of Toraku are at the back of his two hands, the left branded in black ink, a tattoo of the Mist Village's insignia. The right however, appears dramatically scarred by unknown causes. By close observation, it faintly makes out the symbol unique to the Hidden Sand. His finger nails are dulled from having been gnawed on occasionally. Toraku's Li Clan tattoo is located on his left shoulder blade. His shoulders are firm and solid, having an average width, nothing considered overly impressive. Minor curves in Toraku's torso mold to the Chuunin's well-toned muscles, an insignificant quantity of fat located on his slender figure. Toraku obviously isn't bothered with facial hair, and sustains skin with texture smooth and flawless by natural means. His teeth are aligned accurately to near perfection. They have a colorless luminosity, unimpaired and sturdy. A single tooth far beyond Toraku's jaws has remained absent since his encounter with the ninja from the Rain village years prior to the current point in time.
A massive piece of black fabric drapes entirely over Toraku's body when standing upright and without any sort of motion. Its collar runs up to Toraku's jaw line, masking a small portion of his facial characteristics. This cape suspends down to the Chuunin's heels, a gentle but rather durable piece of clothing. The strange garment isn't commonly worn unless seen out of the village. Walking among the citizens through the streets of the Mist Village, Toraku's common wardrobe is a simple sleeveless white shirt, the neck narrowing down in the form of a 'V'. The opening is connected by black fish net running horizontally across Toraku's chest. A teal colored scarf rests upon Toraku's shoulders, concealing his delicate throat and just lightly caressing the man's lower jaw. Approximately two feet worth of excess fabric sways freely in the breeze. Suspended from Toraku's right shoulder hangs a simple piece of thin clothing, dark as obsidian. It runs downward along Chuunin's torso and folds around the left thigh.
Standard arm guards are worn to protect Toraku's vulnerable forearms. A dark green belt embraces Toraku's sleek midsection, of which may also be used to assist the jet black pants from dropping beyond the man's waist. The ends of the touch and flexible fabric come to an end around Toraku's shins, where two white shin pads overlap each pant leg. He does not wear the common Chuunin vest, but does portray the standard black ninja sandals and of course the noble Mist headband. On seldom occasions, Toraku bears an unwieldy gourd of impressive weight. Only during missions that call for Toraku to leave the country does he bother carrying around the heavy weapon full of nothing but sand. But, the Mist Chuunin has never been seen putting the contents of the gourd into use in any way. Besides the bothersome gourd, Toraku appears to tolerate the use of shadow shuriken, but what he relies on in battle hasn't been deciphered. A shuriken holster is secured at Toraku's right thigh, and a pouch is located near his right backside.
||personality.—Any trace of emotion felt within has become inclined to remain unspoken to others. Other thoughts and/or ideas acquired by the Chuunin are kept to himself, but there's no objection to expose his mind when questioned. Since arriving to the Mist Village, Toraku has sustained a silenced nature. The warrior of Mist strives to reach a degree of power no other Shinobi could possibly overcome. He's deeply devoted to his training, and his efforts are for nothing more than his dream. Such greed has gone hidden from the eyes of his entire village, yet he's shown to have a protective sense of duty towards fellow Mist Shinobi and the village itself. He'd make the ultimate sacrifice for his country and his Kage. Truth be told, this missing ninja of Sand has sought the respect of the Mist Village since years ago when first discovering its location. He'd been carefully watched by Black Ops upon being accepted as a ninja to the village, and never felt he'd ever fully gained their trust.
No mission or level of training can leave Toraku satisfied. There's no question it's impossible for Toraku to experience contentment with any mission, deeming it as being a waste of his time. He longs for Jounin, and even Kage ranked missions. Of course, he does not bother explaining his disappointment. He's particularly stubborn during the hours spent growing in strength. Occasionally, he will not cease training until he lies unconscious on the forest floor. He has been unable to approve of his strength, as though no level of strength would ever be considered enough. Toraku possesses minimal knowledge of the Kaguya Clan and their unique bloodlimit, and very rarely uses the Clan's Jutsu. Because of this, Toraku has only seldomly suffered from the disease brought upon every member of this clan with excessive use of their jutsu, but has gone uninformed of the true illness that plagues the Kaguya.
Going back to his days in Sand, since one particular night in the village, Toraku has sensed the presence of a ghastly being that threatens to dominate Toraku's very body, like it had several years ago. Suffering from immense confusion, when isolated from the world Toraku will speak with an unseen voice sharing his head. Since the development of a schizophrenia disorder, Toraku has demanded his training be done in a location deeply separated from the village. He requests that his missions be accomplished on his own instead of with a team. In battle he cares not to share conversation with his enemy, but rare occasions call for him to spare a few muttered sentences between Shinobi. An insensitive, blood thirsty persona dominates Toraku's physical being, and he will not regret any acts of murder he may commit. He does not care for the lives of those who do not display the Mist Village's insignia. As of late, he's grown bitter towards the major countries, excluding his own beloved Water Country. Due to unfortunate mishaps during his early years in the Sand Village, Toraku despises the Wind Country with hatred acquiring no equal.
Overall, Toraku has been described as being an altruist, idealist, quite malcontent in the majority of situations, egocentric, yet concurrently extroverted and reticent. Staring at a face deprived of all distress and bliss, amusement and anguish, it’s hard to read what exactly this Chuunin experiences, emotional wise. This is no phenomenon however. The persona once belonging to the Sand Shinobi, Itoyama Toraku has long since withered to an empty shell. At no point in time is his state of mind concentrated on what he feels, nor the feelings of others, but rather on the countless jutsu capable of being obtained by his very hands. It's very likely Toraku is inflicted with a split personality. This nameless side to him however does not expose itself to any eyes. During missions he's known to think thoroughly over situations while blocking out voices disrupting his focus, but doesn't appear reluctant to begin battle. Among the subjects he holds tremendous hatred towards, is betrayal of a fellow Shinobi.

||history.—Seventeen years ago, a child born into the Hidden Sand Village would shamefully expose the characteristics of his father, a member of the Kaguya Clan. Having a terrifying and abusive history with the man, the mother would discard the infant in a concealed location, a great distance from the village. The newborn was discovered by a woman and her husband. Although the married couple had recently been granted a son, the couple would take the boy in as their own and name him Itoyama Toraku. The secrets of his bloodlimit would not be recognized until years later. For decades, the Itoyama had been a well recognized family within Sand, and known for providing elite and powerful ninja. The parents agreed to deny Toraku the truth of him being abandoned as a child. Instead, Kairo and Toraku were so close in age they were deceived into believing they were one another's twin brother. It was not a difficult task to pull off considering Kairo and Toraku had both been born with the familiar shimmering bright blue optics and dusky toned hair.
Toraku's adoptive parents were notably appreciated Jounin of the Sand Village, all their lives they had dreamt of nothing but elite strength, of which would be passed onto their sons. Since they were very young, Kairo and Toraku had been notified the importance of power, and that it alone was the key to success. Yet, they could not pursue strength if it meant they would turn into their brother's enemy. They admired one another simultaneously, and even though it never slipped their lips, they would develop a strong bond as brothers. Entering the academy would gradually force Toraku to distance himself from Kairo, who absorbed knowledge at an intimidating rate. As a boy, Toraku constantly sought the praise and approval by both his parents, his father especially. Kairo would be seen as a barrier in boy's eyes, one that he had to overcome to reach the thing he longed for beyond anything else.
In disgrace, Toraku would view the event of his brother's graduation from the academy by their tenth birthday. Kairo obviously possessed potential greater than his sibling's, and their father took immediate note of Toraku's lack of achievement. Not long after the failed graduation test, Toraku's parents would be informed of the boy's bloodlimit by the Kage of Sand after being given such information by Toraku's birth mother herself. Once realizing her son had lived through her efforts to rid the village of his existence, she could not refrain from confessing her crime to Lord Kazekage. The Kaguya were viewed as a disgusting clan of hostile ninja by the Itoyama, and immediately their hearts were shut out from the child they saved years ago. Kairo was given the knowledge of Toraku's true birthright, and that he was not truly Toraku's brother by blood. They would turn their backs on the young man, and he would be left to dwell in his confusion. By the age of twelve, Toraku would at long last rise to Genin, yet no family member would attend the Genin's graduation.
Requesting answers from his grandparents, aunts and uncles, Toraku would soon come to realize he didn't merely vanished from his parent's and brother's lives, but his entire family's. After finally reaching Genin, his brother surpassed Toraku for a second time by advancing to Chuunin only a month later. As it would seem, Toraku's accomplishments would never gain him his parent's love and acceptance. While Toraku forgot the dream every member of the Itoyama family embraced, Kairo had done all in his power to chase after it. Toraku's ignorance would be punished one cold night in the Sand Village. The Itoyama and Toraku's biological mother would come to an agreement. Toraku's parent would disguise herself as a Rain ninja assassin, and be given the final opportunity to exterminate the child of the Kaguya Clan. In return, she had given her word to the Itoyama that she would get the family safely out of Kaze no Kuni while having absolutely no tracker shinobi trailing behind.
Since seeing the Kaguya as a curse in their household, this is exactly what the family wished for; to begin anew in an entirely different country. Clothed in darkness and bearing the symbol of Rain, the mother Toraku never knew would be preparing herself to abduct the boy and dispose of him in anyway she desired. Intense hatred toward the Kaguya before Toraku would be transferred to the boy who had no understanding of what the man had done to her in the past. A violent jerk of his nerves ripped Toraku from his harmonious slumber, welcomed by an intense piercing sensation at his left ankle. A single senbon had plummeted into Toraku's fragile flesh, and for the first time he would stare into the eyes of his mother, Shirashi Kihara, but her face was concealed in secrecy. As Toraku screamed for his parent's assistance, he would be muted by a hand compressed over his jaws. No actual jutsu would be used to slowly kill Toraku, but merely ninja tools.
Denying Toraku a peacefully swift death, and alternatively savoring her revenge, a long session of hellish torture would lay forth. The Rain sadist would not rush herself to finish Toraku, and over time the pathetic juvenile would lay contorted into the fetal position, drenched in blood, sweat, urine and vomit. The Genin's broken body quivered in extreme terror and untold misery, anxiously awaiting the end to rescue him from the inhumane torture. The darkened pain bottled in Toraku's core known as the Kaguya bloodline had other intentions however. Nearing death, Toraku refused a hand that would have undoubtedly taken him to another dimension. Instead, he submitted to his despair. Eyes once belonging to no other but himself would suddenly become merely windows to the outside world for Toraku to witness the barbarous acts he was capable of once he was no longer in control. To avoid death, Toraku had awakened the unearthly agony lingering deep within. Pain he never once spoke of to anyone.
Of course, this greatly interfered with the plan that was formed while Toraku had remained in the darkness. The little control Toraku had over his body was used to refrain himself from doing the unspeakable. Standing above a barely conscious supposed Rain Shinobi, Toraku lowered to his hands and knees, in the form some sort of blood lusting beast. The Kaguya's jaw could close around the flesh that extended over the warrior's shoulder. She battled against the crazed monster, but in the end her strength would fail her, and within minutes she slipped from this life, saturated in a pool of gore and tattered skin. To this day, Toraku does not understand he is the murderer of the very woman who introduced him into the world. Her passing seemed to click in Toraku's head seconds later, and finally the boy would return to a conscious state of mind, revealing a shocking image. The boy was speechless to see a large portion of the ninja's shoulder and neck that had been clearly eaten away. Tears training down from the Genin's face, trembling hands were spread over his reddened eyes.
Pitifully, he embraced his arms tightly to his chest, on his knees and contorted into a sphere, forehead pressed to the dirt. In such a position, Toraku appeared to be so young, far younger than the twelve year old boy he truly was. Toraku absolutely refused to believe he ever, any point in his life, longed for the taste of his own kind's flesh. Still he could not deny he had taken on a cannibalistic persona as he submitted to the demon within. He desperately wished for answers, thus the fatally wounded young man commenced the search for his parents. The desperate search was futile... the entire Itoyama had evacuated the village, leaving absolutely no trace of their existence behind. For the second time, Toraku had been abandoned. That night, Toraku was proclaimed a traitor of the Sand Village, and he wandered without rest until entering the Land of Snow. The freezing temperatures quickly overpowered Toraku, injured and exhausted, and he awoke within the hospital of a small village.
The visions coming to him as he lay paralyzed had been far different from his recent experiences, and once accepting the reality of things, Toraku would set his destination to the Land of Water. The headband of the Sand Village would be carelessly thrust into the dirt. Stepping upon its plate, the Sand's insignia would be imprinted in the soft soil while the ninja's journey would commence, his destination set in the north. Weeks of travel would reward Toraku with the discovery of the Hidden Mist Village. Once accepted as a ninja of Mist, Toraku was constantly under observation by Black Ops, due to his history as being a Missing Nin. With determination to rise at excelled rates, Toraku became a Chuunin within his first year as a Mist Shinobi. Since his family's disappearance, Toraku has resurrected the lone goal his family had followed for as long as he can remember. He can't resist wonder, was it because he lacked this objective he couldn't rival the pace his brother advanced at? There's no mistake Torazu will one day find the answers.
