Glamour Perception Rank: "C" Skill: GenJutsu Effect: Jutsu allows the user to perform Glamour Perceptions. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: Glamours cannot produce real effects, but they can change things that already exist. That's the chief difference between a Figment and a Glamour. If you want solid wood to feel rotten, birdcalls to sound like the shrieks of the damned, an otyugh to smell like perfume, or a disguise yourself, you probably want a glamour. As with Figments, everyone within range perceives the same thing and reacts appropriately. Limit: --- [0/10] Brightly lit but deathly quiet, the library sits nearly empty of people save for a dozing librarian, an unidentified person concentrating on books on the shelf in front of them, and a young lady who from a distance could be mistaken for wearing shiny metal skin tight clothing. Michiko sits staring into an old book having nearly slipped into unconsciousness twice already. She shakes her head slightly and continues reading. The book gives very basic pointers on a specific style of genjutsu. The book told her from the beginning once she’s able to utilize this type of genjutsu she’ll be able to see a change in the pages themselves. The book has diagrams of chakra flow through the brain and talks about moving chakra gently through different thought patterns. She has been attempting this each time it explains it but has yet to be successful in seeing the hidden message she was promised. Closing her eyes she moves chakra within her at a very slow pace bringing the energy to her skull and trying to visualize the image this page recommended. She was trying to visualize the book itself smelling like steamed ramen. “Ramen. Ramen. Ramen” she chanted in her head focusing the chakra through the image in her mind. Slowly inhaling she leans forward over the book slightly only to be nearly gagged by the books reek of dust and nearly rotten pages. Opening her eyes she looks at the pages themselves. The paper was not rotten in any way , why had it smelled like that. Activating her Byakugan she let her vision zoom close on the pages and inspected it in better detail. However the pages were in fact not showing any signs of decay. Deactivating the Byakugan she shrugged and chalked it up to the genjutsu training. Taking a deep breath she exhaled slowly and stared at the book for a moment before closing her eyes and visualized the book in her mind. She imagined it being infused with her own chakra as the chakra in her mind actually began to activate. She tried to mentally force the book to be saturated completely, like drowning it in a lake. The chakra she visualized soaking the book began to steam upwards around and out of the book she had mentally imagined. This was not her original doing , apparently her mind was moving images along in a progression subconsciously. The book’s appearance began to shift slightly , the words in the pages looking more like squiggly lines and less like words. The squiggly lines began wriggling around and trying to crawl off the page, as if they were hidden under an invisible screen atop a book shaped prison. The squiggly lines looked less and less like words in her mind becoming more and more like long stretches of ink. The long squiggles sudden began rapidly crawling about the pages before hundreds more sprang up and began crawling atop the book in her mind. The squiggly crawling strings shifted in color to a white and yellow appearance. She chuckled to herself having realized she was apparently turning the book into a plate of ramen without knowing it right off. The squiggly ramen noodles almost poured out of the book in her mind and coated the book itself covering it completely. The ramen noodles stopped moving all at once and began steaming almost as if they were being heated with no source of heat. She pressed the chakra from her mind into the image once more and attempted to soak the now noodle covered mass with a coating of chakra. The chakra vanished into the noodles in her mind and the steam rose heavily. Leaning forward she held the image in her mind and inhaled deeply. She was now going to see if the chakra pattern she'd been holding in her mind was taking effect. She visualized the steam coming from the ramen was pouring out of the book in front of her. The result however was not as expected. Taking a deep breath in pulled the smell of something sweet and steaming, yet with a back hint of putrid and rotting. Nearly gagging she pulled away from the book quickly and exhaled in disgust. Opening her eyes she looked at the book itself trying to figure out what she’d done wrong. She’d read the book and tried to follow its commands exactly. The pages of the book almost seemed to shimmer. Grabbing the book she examined the pages. Nothing definite but something for sure. She flipped back to the beginning of the book and began skimming through examining the pages that had diagrams. Each diagram had something slightly different than it should. She began noticing small changes in the pages and some of the chapter titles had different stylized embossing than the books original boring font. Flipping through the pages she tried to continue holding onto the chakra pattern she made in her mind and tried to watch the pages. Over time the pages began to form small words enscribed along their outer edges. The words were flickering in and out, like an illusion, first there then not. From what she could catch as they were fading in it was a congratulations to the reader for learning how to utilize this style of genjutsu. |
