The walk along the road in Earth country was going well so far but only a few miles had been traveled so far. There was no urgent rush on this one, and Tien was busy thinking of how to find out where to find the water country with no map and such. He turned to Junko while they where currently rounding down the side of a mountain path which led to a summit where; from here; a river could be seen going yonder to the horizon. "Well I guess I should be asking you if you know the right way to the land of water?" Frankly I don't have a clue...The mission statement say's we should start out south east...I don't have a map though..." The air out here was of the smell of high mineral. It was dry and cool but not like that of full blown desert temperature. On his person he carried his cloak, and projectile marbles, knives and kunai, as well as his dai suriken on back. And his wireless radio.

[OOC: Yeah sure; what's a naruto style story without a little random encounters? I don't mind having it to that setting.]
[enter]
As the two Iwagakure ninja scaled the mountain path the land around them danced about in the distance as different shapes of rocky mountains carved the outline of the far horizon. Junko noticed Tien looking back at her as they walked along this path. It didn't seem very rough but, in this kind of world anything can be as misleading as Genjutsu itself. The air was still yet some winds had blown by causing Junko's hair to move very lightly. The atmosphere is actually quite pleasant up here. Something that most outsiders don't see in an Iwagakure landscape until much later.
Suddenly the naturally aquatic sound of a running river started adding on to the noise within the wind besides the slight patting from Junko and Tien's footwear landing on the ground beneath them. Soon enough Junko spotted the identified river which stretched out until the horizon blocked its path like a bunch of paranoid ANBU ninja would do to protect a kage. Eventually Tien had spoke up notifying Junko that they would need a hunch on what possible sense of direction they could get besides heading SouthEast. Junko started stirring up possible ideas until she figured what could be a logical answer. "Ok well water country of course has water in it. However that doesn't mean we should follow every stream of water we see. First off I suppose we should find a suitable resting point to where we can scout out any water sources that look like they could lead to a village. If that doesn't work then we can also rely on the terrain. Nature needs water to survive right? and the more of it that is around can symbolize that there must be some kind of water source near by. A forest for example could possibly be a lead but, there are many more options." Most of all Junko hoped that what ever the two decide to do will help find this mysterious water source that they need to examine. It might not be easy but, it is worth trying in means of helping the Tsuchikage.

You would find nothing to deter you on your journey...yet. However, there was no direct route from Earth to Water without going through some other country. Which route would you take?
Tien would listen to Junko's observations whilst they made their way to the summit of the mountainside. The road towards the river was yonder and something rang true about Junko's words: finding a forest. Tien would halt on the path now and look out over the expanse. Wind blowing caused his hair to rustle. "Ok...well, the river's should at least head towards the south-east...why don't we just head that way seeing as all river's head towards a village eventualy...and seeing as where destined for the country of water...well...I think it's a start...come on!"
Tien would say this with resolution. The expanse was wide and the village had been left enough now that it was time to really get going. He took a step forward, and arced forward, propelling himself in the fashion that ninja's ran with. His speed escalated sharply and like a blur he was off, running at a shinobi's traveling speed.

Junko followed Tien up to the summit to observe a good starting point. On a different level of situations there was a really nice view up here. If Junko wasn't busy with this mission she may have to come back to this place so she can take a relaxing break once in a while. As for sense of direction Tien seemed to already have that covered. So in that respect it would seem that the first thing they were to do was follow the river and see where that leads.
Soon enough Tien announced that they were going to start moving again right after he found their starting point. Junko nodded that she understood what was to be done. "Right; let's go." suddenly Tien took one step forward then bolted off into the distance with great speed. Shortly after that Junko leaped forward as well then followed Tien closing the gap between them within a decent amount of seconds.

The journey was a long one, covering a hard run down the lake which brought them to the edge of the country by the end of the day. A few stops to estimate direction and get a grip on traveling around took a few moment's but mostly they would notice a change in terrain after a while. The earthen terrain's began to turn more mossy and rock laden. Fresh dirt was appearing more and more until they seemed to reach a summiting plateau which cliffed to a 5 story drop with a waterfall that fell from the river's they'd been following. at the bottom of the drop was a expanse of green pastured valley, which seemed to run to a new land.
"I think...I think we made it to a new country...the terrain has changed dramatically over the last half hour...No forest yet, but perhaps finding a town in this land will set our direction straight...Besides...I want to see the life here..." Tien would speak out while letting his eye's scan the land and then settled them down at the great drop towards the pool of water below. He would wait for Junko's thought's first though; a team was a team before all else.

No matter how fast the shinobi may run travel form one country to the next it still takes a while. Even though the water helped point in the direction the 2-shinobi team had to make some stops for either rest or guidance. It was a simple process which Junko had no problems in completeing for it is basic ninja requirements. Eventually the two had found themselves in a different land all together.
They were currently standing upon a 5 story cliff with a flowing current of water making a beautiful waterfall in between it. On the bottom pass the small lake of water, a civilzation of grass and maybe some trees covered the soil it grown from then traveled far out into the distance. A place this covered in sweet nature has to have somekind of village somewhere. So the next objective for Tien and Junko was very clear before he even had to say anything. Still Junko listened to his words to confirm what is to be done. "Alright then; we can begin searching for any clues of a village on your cue. I will be right behind you."
Tien paused after Junko's explanation before he looked for a way to go. From here the terrain wasn't as etched as in earth country. The rolling hill's beyond afforded a sense that the wind directed all direction at once, by view of the reflection's of light coming from the blades of grass. The wind blew that way and the entire sheen of grass changed, or this way and the same result. In earth country it was different; one could look for the worn and beaten roads to tell where many people had trodden before. Or you could tell where soil was getting good nutrient and thus judge from unexplored terrain versus explored terrain. Here it was just wide green for miles. But Tien recalled one thing from training back in the day at the academy: The was a neighboring small country called grass country; and it was significantly small. Therefore Tien concluded that heading straight from here with Earth at the rear should place them at fire countries wide expanse...meaning a forest should emerge within a few hour's travel. This made a smirk of intuition cross his lips.
SWOOSH!
The shadowy blonde topped form of Tien flew over the edge of the high cliff. He dove with the rushing waterfall beside his left, the water itself seeming to slow down in descent as he glanced over at it in fall. The cloak about him fluttered in the rushing torrent as misty spray buffeted his face. The pool below began to loom wider and wider as he dropped from one story to the next. He looked back-or upwards- to shout directions to his partner, "We can just keep going...another good run on the current path should either lead to a town, but if not I think we will find that forest you spoke off...we should at least if this Is indeed the grass country that border's a small part of the Earth country..."
You would not have any further trouble on your travels but your lack of knowledge of the area led you a little further away than you expected. You would look around and realize that this was not Hi no Kuni at all.
Post by Nekomata Minh on Jul 25, 2014 23:42:23 GMT -7
Junko walked a couple steps forward until she was near the edge of the cliff next to her partner. As he scanned the area tracking where to start searching. Junko took her own spare time to observe the surroundings just in case. This seemed to be a peaceful area with a nice breeze blowing to help calm the nerves. To Junko this looks like a place her sister would like to see but, of course that would have to happen some other time. It would be pointless and, most importantly would break the twin's personal rule of separating only when a situation seems mandatory. Which is something Junko does not feel like breaking anytime soon. Especially when she and Tien can handle surely it themselves.
Then suddenly Junko's attention was throw in a different direction until she caught sight of Tien plunging off the cliff with his blonde hair and cloak flailing behind him. Rather on instinct Junko had leaped off after him so she wouldn't get left behind. As the ground below expanded Tien looked up or in this case backward at Junko the proceeded on by telling her what was next on the agenda. After hearing his words she simply nodded then modified her form to fall a little faster. Once Junko was decent feet away from the ground she opened up the large fan on her back catching air under it to slow her decent minimizing her landing to a painless thud.
Once she landed Junko would stand up closing the fan while waiting for Tien to land as well before she would follow the path he pointed out.
(Sometime when their travel was near finished)
So far Junko and Tien have stayed out of trouble as they travel away from Stone village to other lands in search of their main objective. The current journey seemed to be as simple as the last one. Of course the two were venturing by hunch however. So their options were limited when it came down to finishing this mission fast so they could get back home safely. Maybe in some cases they haven't made much progress besides running around on the ground trying to find a place that could give them their information. Lucky for them; they may have found something that could help give clues for finding this mystery water.
Junko's pace was fast yet careful. She was in deep thought at the moment. It was mostly about the terrain then anything else. It just felt...different as her footwear pounded against the surface. The soil seemed even more healthier than the one in the grass country. As a matter of fact maybe a little too healthy because the ground felt a little soft as well. The trees around this place looked way different also possibly darker than the ones in Grass. If anything the two shinobi may have found a clue of a forest type land more than an open village. So if that was the case then this may or may not be Fire country. Either way this could be the chance Junko and Tien have been looking for.
In a flash Junko picked up her speed (or decreased it depending on where Tien is at the moment. Heck odds are she didn't even have to change her movement but, you get my point XD) Anyway Junko decided to get her partners attention to see if he noticed the changes or not. "Tien I don't know if you have noticed but, this place we are going through right now has a feel to it sort of different than grass country. As a matter of fact I don't think this could even be fire country. What ever place we are in luckily has clear signs of a water source because the atmosphere is a lot more humid; maybe even foggish. The trees look different as well. So with that said I think we may be close to finding a forest if we aren't already in one and, if we are lucky maybe a village is hidden in here too." Junko hoped that she was right. However most of all if they did find a village she hoped its people wouldn't be too thrown off from two stone ninja suddenly showing up in their homeland.
Last Edit: Jul 30, 2014 9:16:57 GMT -7 by Nekomata Minh
As Junko acquired the information she would proceed to increase her descent. Of course the aggressive taking the lead caught the male in Tien off guard. It showed on his face as his lip's parted in shock watching her dart down towards the ground below, but then Tien resumed a natural expression seeing nothing really wrong with this. Of course his bloodline was prone to higher doses of testosterone, and his perception of dominant challenge was a bit touchy by nature. But he was no fool to his own self and merely sucked in the tension as he usually did 24 hours a day.
As she opened her fan to settle herself off the intense momentum, Tien squinted. He forgot that not everyone was built like him. With strange finesse near the bottom Tien would slam a palm towards the cliff rushing past his front. This would cause a bit of rubble to burst from the impact sending him into a lateral vector of flip's and turn's until he landed on the ground itself with a thud. He landed a bit ahead of Junko's location but waited for her to speed off ahead. This time when she zipped by Tien followed suit.
She seemed to begin to explain that the terrain had changed yet again. it was strange but Tien hadn't noticed that thing's had changed again. Nothing except for the strange overcasting of the clouds above. Seemed a storm was soon to brew. Junko was right of course however: the terrain had dramatically changed again within a moment's time. Tien looked around the surrounding expanse and luckily in the distance he saw a village where it seemed people would be gathered together.
...
"Hmm...Junko...to the far west...see, over there about 4 miles distant...I think that's a village...It seems like it's gunna rain, so why don't we look for shelter and directions...might not be bad to get something to eat as well.."
[RE requested! PLease move this thread to rain's capitol in the Yokoburi thread please! I think we are going to check this place out for a bit!]

Junko's theory about a possible village was soon proven true. Tien was the first to spot it and, notified her soon as he did. When she looked over to the West like Tien said a clear village was in view pass all these trees. "Good that means we are on track. I suggest that as soon as we get close to the village we take things nice and easy. I don't feel like taking kunais to the face right now" In an instant Junko bolted off in the direction of the village Tien spotted.
With the village in the distance and grass all around you, you might not have noticed that you had entered the humble residence of a hummingbird. He lived amongst some taller stalks of grass which he had put together tediously to form a cool and dark home. But, to his surprise, he would feel the tremors of some would-be predator and home-wrecker march near his home.
Now he was furious. Erupting from his home in an angry nature, buzzing violently, he would spot the two intruders.
(See Rabid Hummingbird for reference) Begin Battle Sequence
Tien was only 10 meters away and the hummingbird was at his 11 o'clock. Junko was 12 meters away and and the hummingbird was at his 9 o'clock. The hummingbird, from your frame of reference, was extremely quick. He would rush forth with some speed, taking only a couple of seconds to arrive at Tien. He would rush forth with his head, attempting a stunning blow by aiming at Tien's right cheek. He would dip around arduously and attempt a second stunning blow at Tien's left cheek.
Then the bird would, if uninterrupted, would begin an attack on Junko. The attack consisted of six quick blows in a flurry that, if hit, would cause a metabolic reaction in the ninja that would cause nausea and dizziness. This attack would be aimed at the kunoichi's left arm. The hummingbird would the turn and deliver a close bull rush to Tien's right hip, hopefully causing some damage to the young shinobi.
If uninterrupted the hummingbird would dart backwards to a distance of 20 meters, about 12 meters in altitude.
Sutan Tekken (Stunning Fist) Rank: "C" Skill: TaiJutsu Effect: A Brawler is capable of striking with such finesse, and such accuracy to where whenever a Brawler attacks using Sutan Tekken (Stunning Fist) they are capable of stunning an opponent for an amount of rounds depending on the class level the user is as well as the class level of the opponent may be. Special: --- Drawback: The user is capable of using this technique only to the amount of times they are capable of using Tetsu Tekken (Iron Fist) Description: Whenever the Brawler attacks the opponent hitting them, striking them using the Sutan Tekken with the consequence of using up a Tetsu Tekken the opponent would become stunned depending on the class of the user as well as the class of the opponent for a number amounts of time. If the user is... D Class - The Opponent is stunned for One round C Class - The Opponent is stunned for Two rounds B Class - The Opponent is stunned for Three rounds A Class - The Opponent is stunned for Four rounds S Class - The Opponent is stunned for Five rounds
If the opponent is one class higher to that of the user then the amount of rounds is reduced by one round for "C" Class, Two rounds for "B" Class, Three rounds for "A" Class, and Four Rounds for "S" Class. If the opponent is two classes or higher stronger then that of the opponent then the Sutan Tekken (Stunning Fist) does not affect them. Limit: Must know Tetsu Tekken (Iron Fist)
Gekijou Atemi (Fury of Blows) Rank: "C" Skill: TaiJutsu Effect: The user is capable of hurling a flurry of attacks, of strong like blows against the enemy more times then one is capable of within a single movement. The user gains the capability of attacking faster using their speed, but at that rate they also loose great accuracy for they are punching somewhat wildly. Special: --- Drawback: The user is capable of using this technique only to the amount of times they are capable of using Tetsu Tekken (Iron Fist) Description: The user sacrifices what he knows of Tetsu Tekken (Iron Fist) for this technique and attacks in a Fury of Blows. Normally a person is capable of attacking with their left and right hand within one movement one time. With Fury of Blows the user is capable of attacking two times with their left hand, and two times with their right hand per movement equal to that of the whole round. When the user attacks they are capable of attacking faster, but they attack wildly, their attacks are never precise and they are not very accurate as well. Speed is gained but accuracy drops down dramatically. Some believe it is best to pin the opponent down against the wall, or against the ground before the user is capable of attacking correctly. Limit: Must know Tetsu Tekken (Iron Fist)
Kitsui Kaba (Close Bull Rush) Rank: "C" Skill: TaiJutsu Effect: You become an expert at delivering a Bulrush. One who delivers a devastating blow capable of blowing though concrete, charging forth with such strength that obstacles does not matter. A full power bulrush feels as if it is much stronger then it should be. When the user learns this technique they are capable of using Sensai Kaba (Master Bull Rush) without a running start. Special: --- Drawback: --- Description: With this technique, the user does not have to rush, or really the user does not need a running start. This technique enables that of the Sensai Kaba (Master Bull Rush) capability without taking a running start. The user takes the understanding of Bulrush to a newest degree to where whenever they make connect, a rush is more powerful, more dangerous then how most people are capable of using the Bulrush. This technique feels as if the strength of the technique increases depending on the Class level of the user. Whenever the user first learns this as a "D" Class character, the technique feels as if it is a "B" Rank technique. This means that whenever a user bulrushes through a defense, the defense takes the hit as if it is trying to stop a "B" Rank technique. When the user becomes a "C" Class character, the rank of the technique feels that of an "A" Rank technique. Finally when the user reaches "B" Class, the technique feels as if it would be considered as a "S" Rank technique. Limit: Must know Sensai Kaba (Master Bull Rush)
Tien would be the first to see the Hummingbird incoming. "Watch out!" He would utter urgently, attempting to leap to his direct right about 5 meter's, maneuvering into a mid air cartwheel, from whence upside down he reached into his cloak and produced a Kunai, before flipping fully rotation and upright again.
Whoosh! Slink! TAP!
He hadn't thrown it yet, because Junko would have been perhaps coming right across his path of vision and aim when he was landing back on his feet. Instead he decided to see how the humming bird would deal with her and time a more appropriate strike from a ready position. He could easily shunshin in if Junko was caught off guard, but she should have heard his warning and had enough time to react herself since Tien was closer and would have disrupted the flow of traveling serenely into the battle ready ether that ninja where trained for. His red maroon eyes where already leering at the small buzzing bird, his knee's bending as he leveled his Kunai in the right hand, getting ready to either chuck it, or rush in to stab with the blade.
[Attempting to void the Hummingbirds initial attack on Tien by manner of pre-emptively evading? I'm a little confused on the true rules of battle here but I think this manner of evasion disrupts the accuracy of the following chain of events form the hummingbird?]
Post by Nekomata Minh on Jul 28, 2014 10:38:52 GMT -7
Junko was walking on the other side of the path being on the right of Tien. Suddenly she heard him shout out a common call that is used to announce danger. She turned her head to a degree looking around her 9'clock line of view until she spotted a hummingbird flying towards Tien and furiously at that. Seeing as how Tien had to do some kind of cartwheel jump to evade the incoming bird who was initial aiming to strike the head. Junko took no hesitation in turning the rest of her body to face the bird while planting her left foot back for some room to move just in case.
Knowing that Hummingbirds are small, fast and agile creatures going for her holstered katana which was strapped to her right thigh would be useless for two reasons. One: the amount of time to arm the weapon would leave her open for whatever attack this bird was planning. Two: the speed difference between a bird that can redirect its path very quickly against a weapon that is best used two handed is too risky.
So instead Junko quickly reached in her butt bag and retrieved two kunais, one for each hand. She did this while keeping her eyes on the hummingbird then once her hands were armed Junko was more then ready for this bird which was incoming fast on her left side.
Junko moved her left arm up in a half upper cut motion blocking the first strike with her kunai. Then seeing as the bird was quickly trying to attack again she pulled her left arm down and behind her a little to force the bird to fly a little farther which gave her right arm the opening it needed blocking the second attack. Using the current positioning of her left arm Junko moved it forward with enough force to try pushing the humming bird back a little while blocking the third attack to give her some more room. If that didn't work then Junko would have to swing her right arm in a slight jab motion to block the forth attack. After that she did the same thing with her other arm blocking the fifth and, swinging her right arm again for the sixth. This all was in quick secession since Junko had to react quickly so the bird couldn't pivot or swerve out of the way since its attacks were aimed for her left arm to begin with hence why she would attack in unison so she could prepare to block again each time.
The humming bird suddenly darted towards Tien attempting to attack him again on his hip. "Tien get ready it is coming for you again!"
After the hummingbird did whatever it was planning with Tien, it suddenly darted off 20 meters away and 12 meters high. Junko to slow steps to align herself with the bird as it hovered there. Seeing as she had a moment left before it tried anything. Junko moved her right arm behind her back placing the kunai in the butt bag to store it for later. This left her with the one kunai in her left hand but, also meant she would be able to perform handseals for jutsus if she needed to.
This girl Junko was pretty flexible and agile by the looks of her Taijutsu. She seemed to exchange a few blows with the bird before it would spiral away and re-direct itself towards Tien's hip. However he had been watching from the ready by now, and as the bird came around he eye'd it closely. As it came for his hip he would literally curl a fist and attempt to punch right into it's face using his speed and exceptional strength to either knock it out, or at the worst break it's body. However had the bird been able to use it's exceptional mid flight trajectory agility, he would have his other hand with Kunai ready to provide a secondary slash if it dodged the fist and came forward again, OR he would watch it evade away and attempt to leap after it and stab it with the Kunai that way.
Tien was not very far into any discipline of Taijutsu though physically he was very capable of causing damage. Therefore his strikes would be seemingly straight forward at this stage in his life...lacking the finesse and grace of a truly masterful shinobi.

(Indeed, your evasion reset the timeline of the battle. Thus the true time of the battle is right after you jumped because you made no action following that evasion.)
The bird was slightly deterred by your call-to-arms and the evasion of its initial attack. It's confidence slightly down, it would retreat back two meters, putting a distance of 4 meters between Junko and the bird and 7 meters between Tien and the bird.
It would test your ability by making a mock bull-rush. It would charge Junko head on at a quick speed before completely stopping and reversing his movement, moving back to the position before he made the mock bull-rush. From this the bird attempted to take the flow of the battle back in its own favor, raising its confidence, and hopefully pushing you away from its territory.

Junko watched the bird with no intentions of backing down. It wanted to pick a fight and, now it had one. Of course there was the question as to what this hummingbird was attacking them for. However that would have to wait. Junko kept her position making no modifications to it what so ever. Her eyes were narrowed at the small opponent before her. She had the kunai in her left hand gripped tightly waiting to either make a move or dodge one.
Suddenly the hummingbird decided to make a move of its own. In a flash the bird started rocketing straight towards Junko like an arrow from a bow. She was ready for this thing too as her left hand clenched just a little tighter around the kunai's handle. However she stood perfectly still and, didn't get in a defensive stance at all. Her father had told her that sometimes you don't have to protect yourself from everything even if it hurts. Between the twins Junko was always the daredevil troublemaker that didn't back down so easy to begin with. She is known to like making sure she isn't underestimated due to her gender. Her ridiculous antics of trying to have bravery as tough as stone itself are usually what cause so much trouble.
So it wasn't a surprise that this was one of those times. The hummingbird was getting closer by the minute and, Junko didn't budge for a second. This was a matter of either waiting for the right moment to strike or, taking a hit without fear. However the odd thing was that neither of those things were given the chance to happen because the hummingbird just stopped. It halted in mid flight then just flew back to where it was before. Junko couldn't hide the small smirk on her face because she was pleased with what occurred. The kunoichi was thinking if she should launch an attack of her own now but, soon that thought was voided. Now was not the time for counters; Junko felt like observing this aggressive bird just a little longer.
Tien watched thing's transpire but the bird seemed to find no true success in striking the two. Tien waited ever patient watching the bird's pattern's. It came inwards at Junko with accurate fervor but then backed up!? Tien noted the dimensions the bird had operated in and looked around at the surrounding grass and realized it probably had a nest somewhere around here. Or maybe a nesting ground? At any rate; with him standing this far and having no conflict, he had enough time to look over his shoulder in the distance: The mission was getting delayed due to small fish...
"Junko...let's go...it's just a bird..."
Tien's voice would be firm, yet mildly resolute. His eye caught the horizon's beyond the land and something...something about getting back on track made him wonder what honor could be boasted of killing a small hummingbird. Even as a genin it would have been child's play to kill it. No telling what Junko was capable of but Tien alone could punch fissures in the ground and sock 5 meter sink holes through the earth. Genetically this was unfair, and intelligently this would be a ludicrous show of how distracted stone ninja could be...they had to profess the most of their headbands; to which they had been given in order to repute their village in every aspect wherever they went. And with that in mind Tien lept back by five meter's from his already seven, putting his kunai away and then landed, turned and began to jog off, knowing Junko should understand what was more important.
"Forget the bird...what is that compared to our mission...we are lost, in foreign land, and have a goal to reach as soon as possible..."
