• Astral Projection 星の投射
Rank: A
Skill: Ninjutsu
Effect: See Description
Special: Must hold the rat handseal
Drawback: Body is left completely defenseless, and vulnerable to attack. User body may be difficult to move for a post. Can only project to a place where you've already been.
Description: This technique is one of the few techniques in the ninja world that neither hurt nor heal, but it is considered one of the most influential. This technique has a long history of pride. Invented in the cloud village many years ago as a communications device meant to assist their valued shinobi during the great ninja war, it has been used throughout the ages as an information tool. The users of the technique must first perform a flurry of handsigns, finishing with the rat handseal and holding it. Once the handseal is held the users body becomes totally stiff and immobile. If they are standing they may fall and injure themselves. In exchange for the total loss of their body, the user gains the control of his spirit. The spirit has no physical form, meaning it cannot attack or be attacked. Genjutsu still may effect it (only if it something meant to confuse sight) but other then that is basically just a vapor. After the spirit form is taken, the user may appear anywhere they have already been, though unable to change the environment physically, they may use chakra to act as a voice box, giving them the ability to speak. Because of the nature of the technique, it does not have a limited range, but there is a time frame. The spirit form may only be away from the body for a maximum (getting the stiff penalty) of 20 posts. After this time, the spirit is forced back into the body. Anyone can hear the spirit, and easily see the spirit cause it looks multicolored. The user may still detect the presence of nearby people (within 10 meters) of the body. They wont know who it is, just that someone is there.
Limit: None
Lisa sighed gently as she walked through the town. She had only stopped into the town to pick up a rare book she ahd heard was in the area. She was under a new face. Dark skinned with gentle features. She wasn’t looking to be seen by anyone. She would not be in town for long after she found the book. To dangerous with something that valuble. She sighed gently as she walked around town. 2 days later under a new skin she had found the book. She smiled as she left town and traveled to reach a safe destination. She smiled as she held the old book in her hands. It was a rare find, she would need the skill in this book to send information.
She sat down in her hide out and turned on her lamp. The soft light giving her just enough light to read. “Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an "astral body" separate from the physical body and capable of travelling outside it. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body to travel in an astral plane. The idea of astral travel is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife in which the consciousness' or soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an... out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in his/her subtle body (or dreambody or astral body) into ‘higher’ realms."[3] It is frequently reported in association with dreams, and forms of meditation.”
Hm…. She sighed gently. Out of body experience. To leave herself open like this, to leave her mortal body was a big risk. She reread the information. It sounded dangerous, but to be able to move her soul independent of her body would allow her a great new power. She smiled gently and took down notes on the words she did not know. She was a quick study when she had to be. And today would be like any other day. She would learn this tech before sunrise.
“Aura is the life energy produced by all living bodies vital for survival. Aura from all parts of the body has a tendency to flow together, producing one mass of energy. This happens without the individual's awareness, typically resulting in a slow leak of aura continually escaping the body. If one were to lose their entire aura, it would be equivalent to using up all the energy keeping them alive, which would be fatal. The pores or points on the body from which aura flows out from are called "Aura Nodes (shōkō)." Controlling those nodes is the first step to being a user of Nen.”
Nen? What was this Nen she was reading about. She had never heard the word before. But she soon realized it must be a name for Chakra. She smiled gently. “Nen…This book must ether be from a different country or far older then I anticipated.” She had heard of auras before, and it would make sense for it to be important to having the soul leave the body. She smiled and gently closed the book. She would start with the basics. Meditation was a known way to cause the aura to grow stronge. She closed her eyes and focused her breathing. Slow….slow. just enough to keep the body alive but small enught to allow for the brain to release chemicals needed for meditation to begin.
Focus…find your center. She copuld feel the slight tug on her skin as the aura leaked out around her.it felt cold, lifeless and cold. But that was what her aura was. A broken girl reformed into a killing machine should have no other kind of aura. The aura leaked around her and soon she felt it surrounding her. But it was weak. So very pitifully weak. She was not a chakra user by nature so causing her body to do this was new to her. She felt odd. Her body seemed to grow cold. Soon she felt the tell tale sign of hypothermia and instinctually flipped away from where she was, she had broken her concentration and had lost her aura.
She panted gently. What was that feeling? It felt like her body had gone as cold as ice. Was this what it was like to run out of chakra? She stared wide eyes at the spot she had been. That’s what its like… She felt her heart racing and she smiled gently. She had experianced something new, something she never wanted to experience again. She let out a shuttery breath and gripped her arm tighter then need be. “Hehe. This will be fun.”
