History
Stolen from her cradle as a baby and whisked into the night, Lillian Opal Harloss has lived her life a lie. Her 'father', the man she has lived with for nineteen years, raised her from the cradle and trained her, taught her, to be his perfect assassin of men and women alike. But Lillian's soul was never meant to be one of a killer, and despite his initially harsh treatment of her she wormed her way into his heart and to her he is very much a father now, and she his daughter. She loves him like only a daughter could, he is her world, her life, she trusts him implicitly and even when he tell her to do something that makes her soul scream in pain, she does it, because she loves him. In his own way Elijah Harloss loves her too; despite his own somewhat callous nature he has cared for her, doted on her, and she has him wrapped around her little finger. Yet his word is her law, the only law she follows in fact.
She is a skilled killer; proficient both Glamours and a brace of knives in varying lengths. She does not relish in the act, rather a part of her is in agony whenever she takes another life, but she cannot afford to fail in her tasks, for her father's disappointment is her ultimate shame. She is fearless in a way, utterly brave in the face of overwhelming odds, because at the end of the day failure is not an option for the girl. Because it would make her father sad.
Lillian and Elijah have travelled the length and breadth of the ninja countries, picking off influential targets in politics for nearly ten years. Lillian's first kill, at the tender age of nine, was of a fat and wealthy merchant who preyed upon little girls. She hadn't minded killing him much.
But the targets were not always so despicable, she had slaughtered gentlemen, princesses, lords. On her seventeenth birthday she was charged with killing the son of a duke and to do so, she had to get within the walls of his palace where his body guards were few.
She had made the young man fall in love with her, date her and romance her for several weeks. Truth be told she had fallen in love with him too. He had not been the first lover she had killed, and he would not be the last. She took the name Opal of her own choosing one day when her father told her that the stones brought bad luck, it was in honor of the ill fortune she had brought upon so many of her father's political foes. She often uses it as an alias when she is stalking her next victim.
Her eighteenth year was her favorite, she didn't kill anyone that year as her father simply taught her all he knew as they travelled, she learned many things about the world, small tidbits of trivia and knowledge that meant little upon revision, but each was a cherished thought for her, because they were moments spent with her father in happiness and peace.
Recently though her father has become nervous; his targets in the political theater are moving apace, and for the first time in nearly a year Lillian has been tasked by her father with the death of another noble, and to her dismay, another young man. But she would not fail Elijah, because he is her father, and she loves him so very very much.
Appearance
Lillian's body is lean and tight, at five foot six she has a compact frame and uses it to her advantage when seducing the men she is charged to kill. Her bust, while not particularly full, is firm and attractive, another tool in her kit.Her sparkling eyes and beautiful blonde hair are often the target of adoration for many young men and women (Sometimes for different reasons, sometimes not), and her full plump lips have been described as both 'delicious' and 'alluring' by former men, and present day corpses.
She wears a smile at all times and her blush is pretty, she laughs often and happily, though sometimes it is false no one would know, such is her skill. She understands deportment and holds herself with the confident grace of a noble born girl and wears elegant dresses and skirts with figure hugging blouses. She is an assassin, a careful killer who uses her target's affection for her as a weapon. Sometimes it is friendship, sometimes it is lust.
Her fair skin bears a light tan in the summer, but quickly turns pale in the winter, much in the same way her hair looses much of it's color as the winter months roll around. Her hands, while soft and delicate, have a wiry strength about them that is oft hid by shapely gloves and delicate gestures. She exudes an aura of fragility and affection to all around her and it is easy to wish to protect the young woman and pull her close to your chest, as if to shelter her from the world. That is when one of her knives slips beneath your rib cage and pierces your heart.
Her blonde hair is long, when loose it falls past her shapely rear. It is strong and tough from long years of careful care, and more than once she has used it like garrote wire, twisted about a lover's neck.
Personality
Singularly devoted to Elijah Lillian's entire life and personality revolves around him. She has had boyfriends, lovers even, and many of them, but none of them would ever hold the same importance for her as her father. AS a result of this Lillian's personality is built up around this core tenet. Her father's word is law, she follows it absolutely as she has been taught, from the cradle, that Elijah is the only person she can trust.
Elijah deliberately exposed Lillian to the worst of humanity at a young age, the pedophile she killed as a child was the catalyst for the very coldest parts of her, the parts of her personality that tell her that no matter how nice the people she kills seem to be, in the darkness of their souls they have to be evil people. Elijah has encouraged this, telling her that she would never be told to kill someone who wasn't a horrible person in some aspect.
While this is a bald faced lie Lillian knows no better, her trust for Elijah is absolute and she firmly believes that if her tells her to kill someone, there's a morally sound reason for it.
It's an important facet of her character, because Lillian is otherwise a very gentle soul, easy to laugh and smile, a bit of a chatterbox, and very happy. She's kind, loving, and generally very compassionate. Over the years she has had to develop a partition in herself; a locker where she shoves all of her emotions when she needs to kill someone, a place where they can still be a part of her, and yet have no control over her actions.
This results in her becoming terrifyingly detatched from the situation, she can love someone completely and still choke them to death with her hands. Should Elijah ever tell her to kill him, she probably would, but it would kill her completely inside.
This leads in to another aspect of her character, the aspect of self loathing that she desperately tries to bury at the bottom of her being. But for every life she takes she dies a little more inside. Despite all of that though she'll maintain her outwardly bubbly personality, if only because it's so efficient at reeling people in for the kill, and killing people makes her father happy.
