Ah, it was about time that I properly went about working on my abilities once again, particularly those that were among the suiton release. I had once heard that those who wet capable of mastering the release were capable of drawing water from the very air itself to remove the reliance upon having a source of water nearby in order to utilize the release. Since I, however, had no such mastery of the power I had found myself at a lake within the country of Sound and for my next ability I was going to make a concealing mist. The concept itself was simple enough, but the execution would be much more difficult to pull off.
In order to keep myself from expending too much energy to create such a concealing mist I would have to limit the range to roughly twenty meters most likely. I took a seat by the waterside and closed my eyes for a moment before speaking aloud, "Lasciel, I would like to confer with you for a moment." When my eyes opened the image of a lovely woman with blonde hair was before me, her proportions very similar to my own. 'What may I do for you, my Host?' With a click of my tongue I would go on, "You know full well I seek your opinion on creating a dense mist like this." 'Then allow me to say that the best option before you is to take a portion of water into your control and disperse it as far and thinly as your power is able, with my aid such a thing would be-'
With a force of effort a ball gag appeared fastened to the image of the woman before me and I got to work, focusing my chakra. One thing that most people did not realize was that manipulating chakra without hand seals was simple, if incredibly time consuming. With the force of my own will the power gathered slowly inside of me and a weave of energy began to pour into the lake's waters. Slowly a trickle began to pull from the surface against gravity itself and form into a ball, slowly increasing in size. The trickle became a stream and then the ball grew and stopped at about ten feet in diameter, now was time for the real work to begin.
With the power I had infusing the sphere I began to pick it apart, bit by bit so the concentrated ten foot sphere of water shifted the a fifteen foot sphere of individual drops of water. They were still fairly tightly packed but using the power I had over the water I began to slowly move those drops away from all the others and, in thought of the time this would all take, began to separate those drops into even smaller droplets. Alas, that turned out to be a terrible idea at this point in time and without the aid of hand seals as well and those drops all rained back down into the the surface of the lake itself. So far the only thing I managed to accomplish an understanding of a simple way to make use of the technique and realized I needed those seals to do what I wanted to do all the steps in a timely manner.
I shan't bore you with the excruciating details, but needless to say that it took around an hour and a half to get back to the point where I had a fifteen foot sphere of water drops. Once again I began to separate them to spread the water over a greater area, centered around me of course. I was not paying any particular attention to the exact range I was covering yet, once I got the mist itself down then I could worry about the range. With the drops in place I began to separate each and every one of them into smaller and smaller droplets of water, it was a very time consuming process and took ever ounce of my concentration to make work without another rain shower. Finally, I had a mist formed and yet it was quite lacking in density, the next step would be in drawing it in until I had a far denser mist.
Using both power and the power of my will itself, the light mist began to pull closer to me and darken the surroundings until it was becoming difficult to see. With the mist finally dense enough to fit my standards of concealing I made it sit in place and got to my feet, luckily it did not take up too much energy or concentration to keep the mist inert. As I moved through the concealing fog of war I counted out my steps, measuring my stride as best I could and estimating how far from the center to the edge was. By my math I covered about six meters, yet I knew Lasciel was also keeping track and I up gagged the image that had been standing before me, clear even in the mist, expectantly. With a slight sight it spoke, 'I wish you would call, me up for something more interesting than this. It was five meters from the center to the edge.'
