The Desert Embassy
As I walk through the Shadow of Death
The Desert Embassy is the safe haven for those lost in the desert and without hope. It is also the only way to gain access to the village thanks to the path that has been lain out by sand nomads through time. This path is the only part of the deser that remains unchanging while the sands drift and fade all around it. Maintained by nomads, and funded by Sunagakure; this palace in the desert is a mix of an inn and a political office. All folks are welcome to spend the night as long as there is room, and access to the embassy is allowed to any, even if it is just to free themselves from the unbearable heat of the desert. First and foremost though; this building is a place where foreign shinobi can gain access to the village without starting a political outrage. With the Kazekages permission, people waiting to enter the city are allowed to wait at the embassy and use it's resources while they rest. There are check ups by Sunagakure occasionally when there is no one waiting to be transferred to the city, and they happen a little more regularly when there is someone waiting.
The Embassy is built into the side of the last mountain of the desert before the landscape becomes nothing but sand, and a path winds its way up the sand stone outcropping, leading the way all the way up to the front door. The building itself is a monumental palace with smooth walls with no openings for natural light. The building is comprised of three cylindrical shapes of varying height, with the shortest and widest on the west side, the tallest and skinniest in the center, and the main living module on the east side. The entrance is a thick double door with no guard, but there is a sign by the door that asks visitors to close the door behind them to maintain the cool temperature within. Once the tall building is entered, a dark chamber awaits, with a ceiling high above the heads of the people inside. This chamber is decorated with carvings all around the inside of the wall, a dragon that stretched and coils upwards with war and battle etched in the spaces in between. The art displayed is truly masterful.
Entering the building to east reveals common room, which has a circular bar on the inside that is about five meters in diameter, where one of the nomads who work there will be available to serve drinks and food. On the furthest est side of the room the stairwell begins, one that leads upstairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms. In the common room there are multiple stools around the bar to sit on, but there are also dark brown leather couches that have seen years of service, yet remain strangely comfortable to find a spot to rest. These couches are pressed up against the insides of the wall, and there are tables dotted around the room in front of them. There is no real organization to the furniture here, it is a first come first serve situation. The lighting of the room is difficult to notice at first, as it is very indirect, with the sources of light being hidden behind small strips of sand that allow the light to leave the sides, but does not allow you to the see the source itself, making it a tad darker, but giving a far more relaxing scenery in the room.
Climbing the stair well leads to the second floor, which; much like the first has all the furniture running against the outside wall with very little in the middle. The second floor is the bedroom, and there are ten individual beds with a chest at the foot of each bed in this room. The linen is a soft fabric of a plan white colour, with a matching white comforter on top. Deep chocolate pillow cases stand out against the white sheets, but they match the oaken bed frames stained to match the colour of the pillows. The chests are broad, stretching five feet in width, and two in depth, and they can hold quite a lot of equipment and personals. Each has a lock with a key given to the holder of that particular chest until the bed is vacant once more. On the ceiling of this room there is an attic door that requires a pole to reach the latch. Once the latch is open, a ladder releases and opens up to allow a person to climb upstairs into the storage area. This area is simply used to stock any of the equipment that will not fit in the chests, and can only be opened by staff.
Matron Holly Quincy Arthur
Genjutsu Master
Holly is a woman of great faith and patience. She is also the Justiciar of her little plot of paradise in the desert. To those who need help; she is like an angel, willing to dress, feed and provide beds for those people. For those who wish to harm her home or the embassy to her home, she is capable of feats of great evil and terror, using her magnificent mastery of the mental arts, using her Genjutsu to fool and cause acts of horror among those who deserve it. Living in the embassy has been a relatively easy life for her, she is paid well, and she enjoys the peace that she finds at the edge of the desert. Very friendly and always there to have any kind of conversation with, she can be your best friend if you respect her. Unfortunately, she is also quite gullible and is often lead astray by handsome men who can charm her.
