User must choose a specific Region each time they go up this Skill. A successful Botany Skill check provides knowledge of plants, while failure indicates the character does not know or cannot recall anything about that plant. Each Skill level allows the user knowledge of each Herb category (Example: Novice can identify Common Herbs, Master can identify Nearly Impossible Hearbs) within a region. Here is some Difficulty Examples.

Trivial - Plant is in bloom
Easy - Plant is whole
Average - Identify plant fruit, leaves, tubers or seeds
Difficult - Parts of plant in a mixture or food
Very Difficult - Identify plant from charred remains

I slowly opened my eyes. Where was I? A river before me, I reassured myself that I was where I first slept, none had disturbed me. My sword was still within my left hand, I gripped it tightly even in my sleep. The old training fields of the village, I found myself at peace here. None ventured in these parts anymore, how upturned the place was with strife none had time. I was alone to my thoughts here, I hated it. Where was my gold? My wealth? I had no collection yet. I wanted my collection. Simply lying on the ground was not going to get it though so I stood and made my way through the forest, back toward the village I was now a part of.

As I strode I found that the plant life here had indeed begun to flourish, growing wildly and out of control seeing as though there were no ninja here to destroy them anymore. There was some sort of flower sprouting from the trees, were these fruit trees? I didn't know I have no knowledge of the kinds of plants around here. For some reason I'm not okay with that. I walked around looking for more of these trees, I want to know what they are. The trees in the area were pretty much the same, or at least the leaves looked the same to me. Same general shape, same general colour. Must be the same trees. Only a few of them bore flowers however, some of them were in bloom. Referring from the trees I now stood witnessing I found that these were flowers in bloom, the others were not yet awake. This land was lucky to even have flowers, the constant rain clouds shrouded the area so often that it was detrimental to plant life yet they still remained for some reason.

My question was still unanswered however. These flowers while in bloom were yet to tell me if they were fruit trees or not. I continued to walk, pondering just how this task was going to get me rich beyond belief. More trees, these ones were different. I could tell that the leaves were of different shape and the colour was slightly off. There were flowers on these trees as well, different ones. The others were somewhat pink, these were a kind of yellow. A difference in contrast, why would they bloom together like this? It looked ridiculous. Mismatching colours like that, nature was colour blind. More questions, were these fruit bearing trees? I was hungry. I wanted to eat. Give me fruit you damned trees! I grew angry. More and more flowers from the trees and yet no fruit whatsoever. After walking further I eventually came to the conclusion that these were not fruit bearing trees. God damn it. I wanted food... Now!

Hungry. I was hungry. I searched the trees for fruit and yet came up dry, to good to be true. It could never be that easy. If looking up wasn't helping me, I guess I'll look down. I proceeded to walk once again, this time I was looking for mushrooms that I could eat. This was the Land of Rain so it was always damp and shady, the perfect climate for mushrooms to grow and I knew this. Just because this was the case however did not necessarily mean that it would be an easy meal to find. Most mushrooms were poisonous, so even if I were to find if it were poisonous I couldn't eat. I noticed some on the ground, red in colour. I walked toward them, kneeling before them and taking a sniff. They smelt like death to me, like I should eat them. Poison. Damn it. At the very least I now knew what not to look for as I continued my search. I found myself sniffing other mushrooms as well, most white in colour they appeared only different to me in shape and otherwise the same.

I had to widen my search if I was going to eat. I looked to the trees once again, along the bark of the trunk. Sometimes, more often poisonous than not, there were shrooms growing here. It took a few more moments of search but I soon found some. They looked well enough, they smelled well enough though I had some doubts. There were far to conspicuous for my liking. I decided to perform a spot test. I touched my right arm to the shroom and brushed against it. If in ten or so minutes it were to turn red then this mushroom was not going to be my meal. I waited, and waited, until the time limit was up. Red. Annoying. My search continued and I managed to happen across some more mushrooms in the ground. These were familiar, the looked like some I had come across before. Moving closer to inspect them, it turned out I did recognise them. Shitaki, but just what were they doing here? Not that I cared at all. I was hungry, I wanted food. I bit down into the mushrooms and moved along on my way.

There was enough of them to fill me for now, though my hunger was limitless. As I walked I recalled something. There was something about a nut, one that gave the effects of charms an increase in power. I wondered if I would be able to find some here in this place. I doubt it. With my luck today, I really didn't think I'd find anything.

I was hungry, though fruits were not going to be my comfort food apparently. I walked along and wondered if these flowers would be useful at all for anything, like perhaps crushing together in order to make something of use. I can recall something of purple flowers being ground up for some reason but I just couldn't put my finger on just what they did or what they were called. I searched around, looking for the flowers of a climbing vine. They had to be purple else it was useless. The trees around me seemed like viable options for what I needed so I just had to be lucky, they were rare now that I thought of it. Vines, vines, vines, I walked around for a solid two minutes before I found them. Purple, purple, ah yes, purple! These things seemed right. I found myself a single flower, was this going to be enough? I picked it and tore down the vine. Using my fire breath I set the vine a light and began to prepare the flower I was going to consume.

I was to brew it over a lit fire and then let it stand for a while, but screw letting it stand. I was a dragon, I could eat hot things. When it was ready to stand I consumed the flower without hesitation and kicked dirt over my fire. Something was odd, my stomach seemed slightly out of place though I found myself, rather calm. Ah, that was right. This flower was used for a calming agent, I guess I'm stoned. Or something of the sort. I did feel hungry, though I was hungry before I ate the flower. Now then, food time. It was now my goal to find some edible mushrooms. I scowered the forest floor for something to eat. The land of Rain was an Ideal place for mushrooms to grow so I was sure I'd find some soon. I happily stumbled across some and inspected them. They were of interesting colour though poison. I wasn't made though, was this the affect of the flower I had just consumed? Maybe, I continued my search and found one more. Now this one looked like death, pitch black in colour, most would avoid it though I knew better. I picked it and consumed, it was large.

I felt a rush of energy within myself now. This was a shroom that would give one magical strength, as well as quelling my hunger. Now with a belly full of shrooms and a head full of what i could only call drugs, my attention turned skyward. Outside of mushrooms there were also nuts I could devour and enjoy. I was still hungry and if I recalled correctly there was another nut out there that would increase my charming ability.

Well now what was this? By chance I managed to stumble across a nut on the ground, followed shortly by a squirrel who attempted to steal it from me, or maybe I was stealing it from the squirrel. Either way I killed the damned thing and picked up the nut. This was it alright! The Spanish nut I was after. Unfortunately there didn't seemed to be any trees around the area so the thing had probably scampered the damned thing from somewhere nearby that I couldn't see. I was to happy to care at the moment, that flower really did wonders for the mind-state. As I devoured the squirrel I moved to the east. I think it came from that direction so there was a chance the nut tree thingy was down there. I moved along and scouted the nearby trees, checking to see if they were the nut tree I was after. So far though, none of them were. Mostly just random trees with nothing of interest growing on them.

I proceed on my way, tossing the nut in hand as I walked. Humming to myself I really did feel on top of the world, with meat in my belly I was elated beyond what I thought I could be. Happy, happy days.

Now as I walked I came across something along the ground. Around a foot in length with bright pink with red tipped petals, a flower stood in my path. It seemed to be alone though I recognised it rather easily. A small succulent flower this one was used in a way that when it was crushed herbalists were able to use it to repel parasitic insects. In short it kept away things like mosquito's, a very useful thing for your wandering traveler as the suckers tended to be a nuisance. I leant down and took a sniff of its aroma. It was rather unpleasant to smell but not unbearable, I didn't really have to worry about it stinking to much. It wasn't to pick yet however though I made a mental note to return to this place to retrieve it later. One always had to be sure that the ingredients were ripe and ready before harvesting them, otherwise they were useless for creation.

Back to my search for the Spanish nut, I noticed a small moss starting to grow upon them. I recognised this as well, Belramba was beginning to grow. Not enough to make use of yet but in the future I would be able to use this to create something to heal any light wounds that I may suffer. Not that I ever would. It took three days to brew in water to create the potion of the Belramba so I really needed to make sure I had a lot to ensure I didn't mess up. I thought it best to leave it to grow here for now as well, I'd hate to waste all that time...

Now something else caught my yet. A small flowering plant that stood merely a foot off the ground, it had a nice bright greeny colour to it. This would go well with my light injury cure from the Belramba I was going to come and reclaim in the later days as it was an anesthetic. This one however was far more time consuming in order to create so it had its advantages. First I had to crush the leaves into a thick paste and boil the flowers, straining the flowers to create an oily substance which had to be clear else I'd messed up. Then I'd have to mush them together and let it sit for a whole week. Ch, I didn't have time for that. I'd rather just deal with the pain. I walked away from the plant and continued my search. All these things were distracting me today, was it from the flower I ate I wondered? Most likely. I wasn't easily distract else wise so it was all I could put it down to.

Now just how far could a squirrel run anyways? I had been walking for a few minutes now and I couldn't see any trees for the spanish nut yet. From what I could recall, it was a very large tree that the nut came from so perhaps I'd have to take a look up top...

Well, well, lookie here. In my path I managed to spy out of the corner of my eye another couple of nuts on the ground. Just two though I knew that these would sell for something of a nice profit once I managed to get them to market. I approached them and leant down to pick the up off the ground. Yes, these were indeed the nuts I were looking for. I felt something smack me on the back of the head as I stood however and turned to find an angry critter throwing things from the branches. Peering down at what was thrown it was another nut, though sadly not the one I was looking for. I redirected my gaze to the critter tossing things and found it had more items to throw at me still. Now did this little creature honestly believe that I was just going to allow him to do as he pleased. Even if I was in a good mood, I wasn't going to just take this. Before it could throw another item the critter, another squirrel of course, found himself tightly grasped by my right hand.

The nuts in my left, I made sure not to damage my merchandise and proceeded to quickly inhale the squirrel alive, eating it in one bite and chewing it thoroughly before swallowing. Things were just going lovely right now. Two meals, no three! Man, how great is today? Currently using my chakra to grasp onto the bark of this tree via my feet I had a hand free which considering that I found this little squirrels home in this tree was a good thing. I stuck my hand inside of the hole in the tree and began to feel my way around inside. Of course he, or she, was looking to store up supplies for the winter so it was very possible that he had managed to horde himself up a supply of Spanish nuts. I wouldn't mind at all if he had.
