I stepped quickly and quietly through the village gates, waving in silence to the ones on guard before looking out at the path before me. I hadn't done much around the village lately, so it would be nice to get out and about, visit some of the areas around the country, and just generally be a wandering spirit. To match the occasion of traveling, I had donned my preferential 'combat' attire - loose fitting navy leather leggings, white tabi and mocha geta, a navy undershirt covered with mesh, and a deep sapphire cloak. My katanas rested at either side of my hips, and a smile lay upon my porcelain face.
Eyes as visually cold as winter chose my path, and off I went. An excited determination ran deep through my bones, and I found myself bursting into a sprint, leaping high into the air before my geta clapped against a tree branch with a soft 'clack'. Leaping off once more, I continued to utilize this method of traveling, branch to branch, for about a half an hour before my exhaustion began to get the better of me and I came to a halt near a river, my body crouched, left hand touching the branch for balance, and observed the area.
Taking only a moment to assess any potential threats in the vicinity, I decided that I there were no potentially life-threatening hazards nearby and I closed my eyes. Inhaling deeply, I focused on settling my breathing patterns. As they returned to normal, I opened my eyes once more and exhaled. Pushing off gently from the branch, I gently fell to the ground, where, with a practiced landing, I stood and stretched.
Moving over towards the clear river, I glanced into the surface and found a large number of fish swimming. Grinning, I reached my hands into my pouch, pulling out several shuriken, and with a brief moment to calculate, I threw at the closest fish nearest to the surface of the water. The shuriken aimed true, striking four fish simultaneously with shuriken. Moving quickly over the water, I grabbed the dead fish, reclaimed and cleaned my weapons before storing them, and moved closer to shore.
After another brief expenditure of time in which I collected wood from my surrounding area and placing a circle of stones to form a pit, I found myself next to a roaring fire (only partially stroked from my ability to control the elemental nature of flame). The fish had been cleaned, gutted, and skewered over sticks that I had found while hunting for firewood, and they were cooking nicely.
I couldn't wait to chow down on the feast before me.
