Several days after learning of his chakra nature, Shida spent most of his times mastering his chakra control. Lightning by nature was powerful and difficult to control, arguably the most difficult to master of the five basic elements. It was a reasonable cost for such a powerful element. Shida, after finally becoming comfortable with the nature, took the task of learning several jutsu to test his capabilities. It was for this reason he ventured off to one of his favorite training spots.
Shida stood in a grassy opening, several trees spread out at spacious distances. In the center of the clearing was a rather large stump, the circumference of which was wide enough to accommodate four people. It could work as a makeshift arena for close combat taijutsu or weapon training. The trees nearest to Shida were marked up with various cuts, like scars. He had frequented this spot due to it's privacy, although it was by no means hidden.
Shida stood atop the stump and unsheathed a kunai. He tossed it upwards and caught it again, almost as if he were juggling it. A small smirk crossed his face as he toyed with the kunai. A sly sense of excitement took hold as he thought to himself. It could be said that even looked like a fox with a dubious plan. "Let's see what this stuff can really do!" he said chuckling to himself. As he continuously tossed the kunai up and down he let his chakra flow to his hand, finally catching the knife by the handle. "Flow, shape, charge..." he thought to himself. In the previous days of training his elemental affinity it had become his mantra. Originally it took a very concentrated effort to let his chakra flow freely, control it's shape and finally add the element but now it had seemed he could do so with ease. That is, assuming not too much chakra was being manipulated at once.
Shida held the kunai, the shroud of blue aura now overlapping the blade. Moments later the shroud became a whirling blue spiral. That spiral then became a crackling stream of blue electricity. Still grinning, Shida threw the kunai forward, aiming towards the nearest tree, which had been a few meters away. The kunai cut through the air and found it's place in the bark of the wood. The jolt of lightning was sent into the tree on contact, further damaging the wood. Chunks of burnt bark fluttering down. Shida's grin remained plastered on his face, proud of his work. It was a fairly easy and low ranking jutsu, but he was proud nonetheless.
