Objective: Investigate the area in question and purge any of its evils from this world.
Description: An isolated wasteland in the middle of a forest in the Land of Fang has reported distressing activity. Screams regularly echo from a clearing in the forest that no one has yet been able to reach. Some have even reported the appearance of monsters in its depths. Recently, a corpse with over a dozen deep gashes and cuts has been found at the border of this region, and finally the local rulers have formally requested that the matter be investigated and cleared away.

In the middle of a clearing, there is a wooden cabin that is practically black with mold and grime. Dark red spots—dried blood—are scattered all over the flat dirt ground surrounding the cabin.

The ash trees surrounding this cabin are dead. There are no leaves upon their branches, and the wood is dry and brittle.

One short, loud scream emanated from deep inside the cabin. Birds scattered and flew away from the lone cabin.

It awaits.

The twins had been living in the land of fang for quite some time now, not so much that they could call it their home , but enough to care about it and its people. They would often travel from town to town looking for various things, be it books or weapons. Everytime they arrived in a new location they would often check the various taverns and guilds  to see if they could earn some money from the missions  located in that area to pay for their travel expenses.

That day would be just like any other day, they would wake up at the usual time in a local tavern and after their usual preparations they would follow the road that led to the next town. However, as they were about to exit the door of the place they  were staying in they would notice a new mission on the notice board hanging from the wall.
As they picked up the letter with its details and read it they would notice it to be a quite odd mission description - beside that however they were not  sure what truly piqueted their interest but regardless they simply felt like seeing what that was  all about.

Before starting their new journey they would however ask the bartender if he knew  any other details about the mission they had just picked up.

[Nira]

"Oh, that creepy place?" The bartender, Rogen, said, "Yes, I've been hearing plenty of tales on what's going on in that forest. I'm glad they're finally doing something about it."

The man stroked his thin, graying beard. "Cabin used to belong to a nice couple that had just moved here. They met with one of those wolf-riding highwaymen about a year and a half ago, though. Terrible thing. I think they had a daughter, but I haven't heard a word about her since the incident."

Rogen shook his head and began polishing an empty glass. "Well, either way the cabin is no good nowadays. Had to warn my shipment carriers to travel in a wide ring around that place. It's like the branches are knives. Somehow anyone that passes through that forest gets cut up."

[Starnaess]

Kael would lean sideways on the counter next to him, his head turned toward the bartenderand would begin listening to what he had to say about the letter. "Interesting, however  we are more interested about facts rather than tales "Could you point us toward the cabin? if u give us that information we could perhaps solve whatever is causing trouble around here and maybe re-enable your merchant's route , a win win situation if you will" As Kael tried to exchange favors for information about the mission, his sister Kaelynn would sit on a chair and would spread her arms around the handles. As she tilted her head backwards leaning onto the chair she would stare at the ceiling hoping that she could get out of that old tavern as quickly as possible.

While she realized that mission information was necessary, she was so disgusted by that tavern's condition that she simply wanted to get out as fast as possible even if that meant skipping on some information.

Rogen nodded and pointed at his front door. "I can't draw for nothin', but if you make a sharp right as soon as you leave out that door and go straight for about two kilometers, you'll stumble into the border. The trees start to have fewer and fewer leaves, so just keep an eye on the canopy. But once you see trees with no leaves at all, you'll be in the place, so be careful of being cut."

The second the bartender gave them the information they wanted, Kaelynn would jump out of the chair and immediarly rush off the door "Lets go Kael!" she would scream as she ran out. A smile would form on Kael's face and as he turned away from the bartender. he would simply say "We will be back, thank you." A small sprint would be ebough to catch up to her sister who was waiting for him outside. Once closer to her she would place her right hand on his cheek and would whisper to him "Lets go have some fun" - a light  chuckle would follow. The twins knew the general direction of the cabin and would immediatly start  walking toward that direction. They were in no hurry for the mission did not seem to have the utmost emergency, so they simply took their time to get to the trees described by the old man earlier.

Kael would be surprised by the look of the trees for they did indeed look like they were dying - since they were getting closer to their mission the twins would enter  a more serious mood. They both would immediatly begin looking for any  sign of human life through their tracking skill - they would also cover their own as they walked stealthly through the forest. With their high observation they would also keep a n eye out for anything out of the ordinary such as traps and the likes.

With a combination of their skills, the twins were able to gather a fair amount of information and clues.

Before either of them touched it, a spiderweb strand was spotted. The web was nearly too thin to see. It seems that there were many of these stray webs in the space between the forest's death trees.

Several meters ahead of Kael, there is a small, bloody footprint on the trunk of one of the trees. It's about a meter and a half above ground.

There are signs of spiritual activity. The path goes straight through where some of the stray webs and strands are currently occupying.

[Starnaess]

"Hmm a bloody footprint" said Kael as he pointed toward it to warn his sister - "You found anything interesting K?" whispered the man as he kept observing his surrounding. "There seem to be signs of spiritual activity and they seem to be following a path covered in surprisingly hard to see cobwebs". As they shared information with eachother the twins decided to keep talking through their minds to avoid anyone listening and noticing them for they decided to remain stealthed for the moment. "We should get up in the trees to gain a better view on the place while we follow the path with spirit traces" suggested Kael. His sister agreed, The foot print seemed to indicate that someone climbed up the tree due to the distance between the ground and the footprint location. So as they went up the trees they would keep their comunication through their mind link and would begin to split keeping their distance roughly 10 meters apart. Following the trail they found they would still keep an eye out just like before - and like the bartender said, they would also try to look out for trees with fewer and fewer leaves.

[Spectre of the Falls(Kuroki)]

Before they got to the trees when they broke through the cobwebs to get to it, they would see hundreds of little spiders flock towards them chittering angerly. The twins would need to figure out what to do about hundreds or more of tiny spiders flooding towards them from the surrounding trees. Now the twins knew why these were death trees.

[Starnaess]

The spiders were rightfully a ngry at them for destroying their precious cobwebs, so what better way to avoid getting hit but to turn completly incorporeal thanks to their augmentation? Both Kael and Kaelynn would turn incorporeal the moment they saw the spiders attack - making it so that the spiders, instead of landing on them would instead pass through causing no harm.

After all they had no time to waste on spiders - they needed to find out what was going on in the forest - if the spiders decided to keep chasing and attacking them they would find another solution to permanently deal with them.

As the twins dialed down the solidity of their beings, the spiders passed through them just as they would have hoped. Confused, the spiders scatter on the forest floor and chitter endlessly, turning to follow the pair slowly.

The further the pair travel, the thicker the stringing webs are. First appearing silky, the strands slowly thicken and eventually turn to sticky rope, a blockade of web ahead. It seemed impassible, but hollow. Upon further inspection, it turns out that it was merely a large sphere of dense spiderweb. The walls are at least a foot thick, the top of the egg reaching the mid branches of taller trees. Tethered to the orb are millions of thick web, stretching for miles through the trees, stringing treetops together closely. Touching any of these thicker silk strings would meld you to it, like instantly drying glue. In some places there seem to be large, oblong mounds of wrapped something. They almost look like human-shaped pods.

[Starnaess]

The twins would manage to succesfully avoid the small spiders that seemed to have been enraged by their presence - as they headed further they would find themselves in a rather peculiar place. Webs ...webs everywhere. That was the scenery before them. As they observed their  surroundings they would notice that the webs seemd to form some sort of sphere rather thick and sticky that extended from the ground all the way to the top of the trees. "What do we do Kael? The tracks clearly lead here" kael would nod as he kept looking around hoping to spot anything that stood out.

he would notice that shapes similar to a human being would seem to be wrapped in the sticky webs and as he lifted his hand he would point to them. "There is something wierd about this place" would say kael through the mind link. As he unsheathed his sword he would step forward with his left foot making a sure  strike onto one of the wierdly shaped webs , hoping to cut it and see i ts contents.  They didnt want to interact with the spheric shape yet.

As the tip of Kael's blade slices smoothly through one of the oblong pods, the smell of rot and decay plumes from the slit that precedes it. Inside the pod is the body of what seemed to be once a man, but was now nothing more than puss and bone and meat. The face is the most notably deteriorated, the skin and cartilage of his nose almost completely gone and the muscle at his jaw seemingly torn, the inside of his throat visible through a rotted out cave in the side of his neck. There is no hair littering the body where there is also an alarming lack of blood. Skeletal structure predominates the corpse. It almost looks as though it's been picked at, like stale leftovers from the back of the fridge. Kael was not wrong in assuming something was weird about these woods.

The large egg in at the center of all this mass gives a violent shake, the trees attached to the interconnecting silk strings swaying awkwardly. Dead leaves sprinkle down around them as the egg convulses momentarily before returning to an eerie stagnancy. If listened to closely, the sound of angry chittering reverberates within. Whatever was in the cocoon was seconds away from hatching. The twins would have to find a way around quickly if they didn't want to deal with the contents.

[Starnaess]

With the egg shaking so much that even the trees themselves started to do the same. The twins only had one thing in their mind, destruction. They didnt want to deal with more spiders, not again. While they could turn incorporeal once more, that wouldnt a ctually deal with the problem itself. Both twins would stop at the ground aiming at the egg, creating a huge shockwave that would attempt at destroying the egg and its content in one hit. the shockwave would have the two layer efect bypassing its hardness too.

The corpse didnt have much impact on the twin, nor did the smell - they were used to dead bodies. This however, gave them some useful insight about what they were facing. For the moment however, they would see what would happen to the egg and its contents a fter the attack hit it

As the destructive path made a bee line for the egg, the ground cracked under the pressure. Bits of dirt spit up along the way, but the real show begins when the explosion takes over the egg directly. The shockwave cuts deep into the mound, the thick silk crumbling along every inch until bits of static protrude from the breaks in the fibers, finally destroying the egg and taking down some silk and tree with it in a spectacular spectacle. As the debris and dirt fly into the air, so do millions of baby spiders. Those of the spiders who had been pressed against the inner, silk walls of the cocoon are lifeless in their first upward and then downward trajectory. But the spiderlings who had prevailed spread across the way, some in the sky only to come back down and some being blown straight outwards in all directions. The blast and new rainfall of spiders shook the land. There had to be at least a million tiny spiderlings, all with sharp fangs and prickly, poisonous hairs littering their body and many legs. The swarm of spiderlings heads directly towards Kael and Kaelynn, angry and disturbed babies ready for their first meal.

With the blockade of web egg out of the way, however, a new part of the forest was visible on the other side of this fence of silk web. Like looking through the window to another plane, the other side was barren and dark, almost appearing crag-like. The dirt and trees are almost as black ash, but no signs of a recent fire present itself. The trees seem sparse, only a few leaves clinging to expansive branches. There are no more blood-speckled foot prints to lead the way, but instead a clear path through the trees presents one strange fact. The further in they would travel, the deeper into a forest without foliage they would go. It was as if something was killing the trees and stripping them of their green, glowing life.

The twins had used more power than they had imagined, or the structure they thought was sturdy turned out to be rather weak. Regardless they had caused some serious damage to the whole place making the tree fall along with all the walls. This had a good side and a bad one, while it revealed a new passage that the twins wanted to reach - they were faced with an army of disgusting little spiders and their million eyes all looking at them. The mastery of two layers while powerful wasnt wide enough to take care of all of them. And to be honest they had no way of eliminating all of them. So there was only one thing they could do, escape. As they begun to shunshin toward the new way they had unlocked they would turn incorporeal to avoid any possible attack.

The portion of the web wall that had been destroyed was gaping, browned by the many spiders that now weave through it carelessly. Before the spiderlings can get any real vengeance upon those who have awoken them, the objects of their rage seem immune to them wholly. Moving fast enough to leave the spiderlings before, the twins would be safe of them for now. Perhaps going back the same way would prove confrontational.

Past the clearing, it wasn't much longer before a clearing would be full of one thing. A lone cabin.

The twins would sprint until reaching roughly fifty meters from the cabin , always keeping their guards up they would stealthly and slowly advance spreading out kael going to the left and Kaelynn going to the right. With their mind link they would be able to see what the other saw and feel what the other felt aswell as easily comunicate . They only needed to observe the surroindings for now  they wanted to stay safe.

Once they've gotten close enough to observe the dreary cabin safely, there were a few prominent features they would see right away. Firstly, a clothes string was hung from one side of the house to the only tree in the area, a few feet from the left of the cabin's door. The only things pinched to the line with a few clothespins are soaked with red, some more deeply than others. A smaller shirt seems to also be torn, while another pair of larger clothes are simply splattered with blood. A long, silk sheet billows in the wind, a large discoloration at the center. Although some red blotches the mark, the stain is another type of bile than blood.

The cabin itself seems sullen, as if nobody inhabits it. The only subtle give away is that of a single, flickering light seen from the only window adjacent to the front door. A set of steps, only three, lead to a small porch. There's some sort of crash from inside, following by what can only be described as a mutt whimpering.

the twins couldnt spot anyone inside the cabin , not many windows to look through sadly. The only thing they could see was a flickering light turning on and off meaning there was electricity and most likely someone inside. With the bloody clothed pitched on a line outside the house the twins knew this was the right spot.

 The whole place had a wicked aura about it. Suddently as the twins  were hiding just outside it they would head a crash noise followed by a whimpering sound - this was the confirmation that s omeone or something  was indeed inside. They wanted to see what was inside but they needed to be careful, so they would send Kael's shadow to do their biddings - as it a pproached the door it would slip right below it and enter the house, it would refer everything it would sense.
