Taken from the Player's Handbook:
"Mission Eligability
The list below shows how many Missions in a specific Rank the Character must Pass in order to take a more difficult Mission:
"D" Rank Missions: Any Character may participate in "D" Rank Missions.
"C" Rank Missions: To participate in "C" Rank Missions the Character must complete 5 "D" Rank Missions.
"B" Rank Missions: To Participate in "B" Rank Missions the Character must complete 30 "C" Rank Missions.
"A" Rank Missions: To Participate in "B" Rank Missions the Character must complete 50 "B" Rank Missions.
"S" Rank Missions: To Participate in "B" Rank Missions the Character must complete 50 "B" Rank Missions.
"
So I've only just looked at the recent changes to mission progression and I have a few concerns about the ones for A and S-rank missions.
First of all a B-rank mission is a mission that usually entails assassination, spying, bodyguarding or some other dangerous activity where the threat of death is extremely real as the participant is expected to face enemy ninja and chakra-users. Furthermore, B-rank missions need to be GM'ed by a staff member, which makes things even more complicated.
Reaching the requirements of A and S-rank missions is not something you can just "grind out". It's literally 50 dangerous GM'ed missions where you as a player have no control over the npcs or the threat involved. No one I've heard of on this site has even come close to 50 B-rank missions in their character's entire career that will likely span several years. I feel its impractical, not because of the danger involved, but because of the sheer amount of time it would take to get 50 B-rank missions GM'ed. This would take several years IRL at the very least, considering how long it takes to not only find a willing GM for a single mission, but actually complete a GM'ed mission successfully without the GM bailing or some argument or complications arising. And then doing it again 50 times.
I simply find the number of B-rank missions you need to do in order to unlock A-ranks and S-rank missions being far too excessive to be even remotely realistic. But I'm not here to ask for it to be reduced. I'm here to offer an alternative solution that I think would benefit the site greatly.
Division of Mission Requirements
I understand that missions have eligibility requirements primarily to prevent players from taking on missions far above their level and getting killed, but what if shinobi and non-ninja wish to take on missions with groups/parties/teams/squads? An A-rank requires that the participant has done 50 B-rank missions, but doesn't the relative difficulty decrease if there's more than one participant?
How about this?
If the mission requirement for a certain rank of missions is X and a team of Y people want to take on that mission, then the new mission requirement for each person is X/Y.
To clarify:
5 people want to take on an A-rank mission together. The A-rank mission requirement is 50 B-ranks. However, since they are taking it on as a team, the new mission requirements for each individual person is 50/5 B-ranks or 10 B-ranks.
This maintains the status quo of mission difficulty while also allowing flexibility for people who want to take on missions together rather than solo.
The reason why I brought this up in the first place is because of the plot I'm working on which revolves around working together with a team of different players. Also I'm making a non-ninja and so I can't simply progress to jounin in order to take on A-rank missions (which would take significantly shorter than 50 B-ranks in my opinion) so while A-rank missions are still going to be way down the line, its still a huge roadblock for me and other low level characters with the requirements placed before us.
Please consider my suggestion because I feel it would genuinely help the site especially with my upcoming RP plans. If there's something you disagree with please let me know and give constructive criticism. Even if you have nothing to add and simply like the idea, I'd be extremely grateful if you posted just to show your support for the idea.
