At five in the AM a thirteen year old girl snuck out her bedroom window and took to the shadows. Street lamps dotted the path and Kauri passed under none. Practicing the art of invisibility she dodged and weaved through the empty streets. Little warm ups like this always rose the excitement she held for a day of training. There was no need to leave her home in such a fashion, but she had felt like it. It gave her a small thrill to be sneaky, and so ... she snuck. She even trespassed through a couple yards just for the hell of it. Bounding silently over fences and climbing backyard trees. Kauri had considered sneaking into someone’s house but thought better of it. No sense in killing the thrill by getting caught.
When she reached the edge of her village the girl followed the path for sometime before taking a left through a thick clump of bushes. She scurried on her hands and knees through the underbrush for minutes before she finally came through the other side, face laced with tiny scratches and leaves in her blue hair. She had come this way countless times before and has never cared to find an easier entrance. It was a secret place, her training grounds, and like good secrets it should be hard to get at.
Ahead was a small waterfall flowing into a creek. Though she could've easily trekked up the hillside to reach the top she went straight into the water and began finding the familiar hand grips. The fall was about eight of her own body lengths high, and it wasn't long before a soaking Kauri landed in the stream above. Spluttering a little she got to her feet and hiked on. It wouldn't be long now.
Six o'clock rolled around by the time the girl reached her destination. The trees had opened up into a small meadow with two large trees in the center. The sun was just making its rise to claim back the sky and Kauri’s meadow came into a clearer view. A smattering of white flowers grazed the expanse and dew drops laced the grass like crystals. Hanging between the two center trees was a dummy made of straw. Kauri had made it herself and lugged it up here some time ago. She looked around with satisfaction before settling her self down on the grass against one of the two trees and emptying the contents of her hip pouch.
The forest was a place of continually flowing life. A sweet silence encircled the little grove and Kauri could almost hear the flowers breathing as the sun looked on them with adoration. The smooth white bark against her back seemed to pulse with life and the little girl soaked it in, enthralled by every sensation.
On the ground beside her lay a couple scrunched pieces of scroll paper, a pen and five bottles of Shochu each 50% proof and pre-mixed with a little lemon-hai. She grabbed a random paper and studied the instructions she had copied from a Suiken scroll. Her first mission since graduating from the academy had been a complete mess! While searching for a stupid dog at the beach, she and Ekaki met many obstacles when a highly skilled ninja of the Mist village showed up with the same objective. She had then promised herself to become stronger, and wrinkling her forehead in concentration she attempted to memorize the new technique.
Considering what she had read and giggled at the prospect. Whenever a single drop of alcohol touched her tongue she’d usually fly into a rage; fighting with everyone and everything she came in contact with. This was only in the presence of other people, though. Which is why she came to this grove for her training. Here she could be alone and practice her techniques with a level head and balance.
Kauri slipped into deep thought, imagining the movement in her mind. She kept to this meditation for a little over a quarter of an hour before deciding to begin her training.
Now, she thought to herself. Time to get hammered!
Just as she was about to cap off her drink an odd sensation came over her. A presence was in her grove, it seemed. She looked around only to find that she was still alone. It was just a forest creature, perhaps… she couldn’t know for certain, but decided not to concern herself with the matter.
Draining away the contents of bottle number one, Kauri let the buzz hit her before getting to her feet and turning her back to the dummy. Doing as the scroll had indicated she began to act out the move in slow motion. With careful, studying movements she placed her right foot forward and away from her mark. Turning slowly, rehearsing each move with meticulous determination so that no incorrect habits would be formed, her feet spun on the spot to bring her around 180 degrees. She took care to ensure her spine curved slightly, stooping her form and shifting her body weight onto her right leg; Heel pressed firmly into the ground and knees bent.
In this position Kauri’s already small form seemed even smaller. She understood why the instructions had informed her to lean back, because she definitely needed to in order to see the dummy’s chest. She then continued to fix her right hand into a “clamp claw”, which was much like the Paiken she’d learned in the beginning, but with the index, ring and pinky fingers tucked into the palm.
The next part was where things got exciting and a little humorous. She had to admit that this technique was mainly for show and when performed correctly took the blink of an eye to finish. The humor came from holding the final position. Thrusting the clawed hand toward the dummy’s throat, Kauri latched onto its adam’s apple, or at least, where the adam’s apple would be if it had one. Holding tight with finger and thumb pressing on either side of the vulnerable area, she brought her other hand up to her mouth and took fake swigs of an imagined bottle of wine. She liked to imagine it was Shochu, and decided it didn’t make much of a difference.
Stepping back and letting go of the stance, Kauri went through the movements again in her mind before turning her back on the dummy again. She breathed. Forward came her right foot as she instantly spun to face the opponent, weight falling on her back foot and back arched. Her right hand was already moving and in that moment her clawed hand had grasped the dummy’s neck, her weight shifted and her right leg bent at the knee and came into the air. The buzz had significantly jarred her head, but her movements were firm and precise. Now she drank the imagined wine.

Down the Hatch
Rank: C
Skill: Taijutsu
Effect: (in description)
Special: --
Drawback: --
Description:First the user must have their back to the opponent before performing this maneuver. Stepping forward with the right foot, the user must spin on his toes so that the forward foot becomes the back foot, their back slightly hunched forward and away from the opponent. Putting most of the weight on the back heel (right foot) and bending the knees to lower them to the ground, bending backward until they are able to see the opponent's chest. Using their right hand, making it into a clamp claw with their index and thumb, the user then grips the opponent by the Adam's apple. Their left hand comes up to their mouth, mimicking the act of drinking a bottle of wine, with their left leg off of the ground and still bent.
Limit: Must be drunk to do.
