Interlude
After what happened of their last mission, it was clear to Tahkanousuke that being cold and non caring was not the best way to go about things. When Tahkanousuke returned home he found a note left by his grandfather saying he would be gone for a while.
Tahkanousuke decided to attempt to be nicer to people, and learn how to make weapons from ice, seeing as he lost his weapon last time.
Training Session 1; Blade of Ice
Tahkanousuke took the scroll from his grandfather’s collection and sighed. The old man had gone out on a request from the Kage and now he couldn’t get the old man to teach him the Black Dragon Blizzard technique.
Leaving the house, he trekked up the mountain side to a small outcrop that had a bunch of old training posts on it. Sitting down in the centre, he unraveled the scroll and started reading it out loud, “In order to utilize this jutsu, the user needs to perform a series of handseals and mould their ice based chakra into the shape of a sword.”
The fair haired teen shrugged, the jutsu seemed relatively easy for a B-ranking technique. Standing up, he folded his hands into the required seals and started pushing chakra from his palm. He noticed that modeling the chakra into the shape of a sword was a lot more difficult than he thought.
The moment he got one piece right, the other would collapse. Sighing in frustration, he furrowed his brow and started pushing more chakra into the still malleable ice sword. The sword grew in size but it still refused to retain its shape. So he decided to compress the chakra instead of increase the amount.
The moment he thought he achieved his goal, the sword would shatter into pieces and the shards of ice would fall to the ground. Growling, he remembered the words “Easier said than done.” Closing his eyes, Tahkanousuke took a long, deep breath and slowly made the set of seals required for the jutsu.
Hold his hand out, palm facing towards the bleak sky, he started slowly pushing chakra out of his palm, into the shape of a sword. Knowing that he finally got the general shape of the sword with normal chakra down, he started slowly adding his ice chakra into the mix.
Feeling it start to fall apart, he released the mould of chakra and decided to start again. Breathing in slowly, he folded his fingers into the shapes required to form the set of seals. Bringing his hand up again, he began to pour the chakra from his palm.
Feeling it set, he added his ice chakra and began to shape it into the fitting of a sword. Just as it was about to complete, the ice that had formed started to melt and the rest of the sword just fell apart.
Swearing under his breath, Tahkanousuke sat down and pulled his hands into his new meditating formation, courtesy of his grandfather. Touching the tips of his fingers together to form a peak, he placed his thumbs together and made a triangle like shape with his hands.
Concentrating on what was going wrong with his jutsu, he tried to come up with a plausible reason for why the ice was melting to easily. It was obvious that with the natural cold weather and the snow around that it wasn’t lack of ice or cold area. But he felt his body started to rise is heat due to frustration.
He came to the conclusion that because it was chakra taking the form of ice, it wouldn’t have as much resistance to his body heat as ice from the mountain would. Sighing at how obvious that was, he decided to add another of his elements into the sword, his affinity to wind should help in this situation.
Standing up, he placed his hand out in front of him and started channeling the chakra through his palm. Once the basic chakra mould was in place, he started adding his ice chakra into it, but this time he added a small amount of wind based chakra as well, in order to keep the ice cooled.
The sword took form and began to take on a solid structure, instead of the loose chakra that was floating above his palm. The cold structure that was his creation took on its correct form before it shattered again.
Groaning in frustration, he started thinking about when he formed his Ice Swallows. They took form from the moisture in the air, and when mixed with ice chakra they froze. Maybe, if he mixed all of his chakra natures together in the sword, water, wind and ice, it would finally take form.
Standing up again, he breathed deeply and pushed his chakra to his palm and pushed it out, forming the sword shape again. Drawing on the moisture in the air, he started mixing that with his ice and wind chakra from before.
After around a long fifteen minutes of sweat breaking concentration and chakra manipulation, he felt the cold hilt of an ice sword drop into his hand. Taking a firm grasp on the sword, he swung it through the air and listened to the whistling it made.
Tahkanousuke made a few intricate patterns in the air and smiled at his handiwork. He then heard a sound he really didn’t need right now, the cracking of ice. Looking down to the newly formed ice creation, he saw a long crack running up and down it, before it shattered in his hand. “Ok, time to work on resilience.”
