He could hear that the others were still moving around, still avoiding attacks as they came at them - who was alive, however, was not on the top of his priorities when it came to working out the solution to this situation: these enemies were skilled, giving them a distinct advantage in the current circumstance. He could see that someone's attack had made an impact, injuring one of the enemy, but as they withdrew into the woodlands, he saw an opportunity to make a flanking advance.
He focused himself into an all-out dart across the path they had been travelling into the woods opposite while the enemy withdrew, and then change his direction once inside to advance through the woods on a parallel route, using the trees as cover from their line of sight. He knew that they had area attacks at their disposal, but he doubted that such attacks would have enough of an impact area to cover the entirety of where the Genin were.
He heard a solid release of a bow, and saw black pilums reaching upwards in to the sky, preparing to blanket the area... a trajectory that would give them a near-vertical fall and minimise any cover from the trees in the area. 'Not bad, but kind of desperate.' He said under his breath and entered the Iaijutsu stance again, observing the angle of fall of the arrows while preparing to step out of the way - relying on his observation and on the improved reflexes of his stance.
There was one distinct advantage from this desperate attack - if any of his comrades survived; these arrow attacks are extremely costly on their supply of ammunition, and unless he has some functional method of crafting new arrows in seconds, this volley was likely to be the last.
"EVERYONE, NOWS YOUR CHANCE!" He heard from across the path, some sign that he was right in his assessment. He focused on his defense for this moment, and then, he would enter the fray directly.
Just using the Iaijutsu Stance and my increased distance from the majority of the Genin pack to decrease my chances of being struck by the flotilla of arrows, likely aimed at the group, not an individual.

Shiki Your attempts to avoid attack was successful, however chakra usage was still not available.
Kenji
Sadly, your character is dead after sustaining two powerful attacks. Your life had been placed in Shigure's hands and he missed the iic. So as he stood dumbfound you would be pierced by the rain of arrows.
Kitsune
Since the opponents where higher class ranks than you, you were not able to avoid all of the arrows using that technique. However, only two struck your flesh. One skiming your shoulder and the other lodging into your leg.
Shigure
Dead. You missed the iic, and have already suffured major damage. Sorry, better luck next time.
Kininata
Your placement on the battlefield allowed you to avoid the mass of arrows.
Comrades of genin would fall as the cloud of arrows descended upon them. And as smoke crept from the grounds surface, the three enemies would retreat into the forest. Making no sound or trace of their retreat. Once more would the forrest become serene, sun beaming through the green canopy over head as the mysterious haze disappeared. The flow of chakra would begin to return to the shinobi as they mist faded and in the distance a camp could be seen.
ooc: congratulations. you have survived path c, and made it one step closer to becoming a chuunin. please continue to the other thread known as the hideout and make an entrance when you get the chance. thank you for participating. good luck for those who made it to the next part. c:

((OOC: Crap. I know this is out of order, but I thought I should try to make a decent death post so people could loot him and whatnot. If this post should be deleted, please PM me))
The young male curled up in the older male's grip, but there was no avail. He was hit by a mass off arrows before he felt out of his hands and landed in a bush beneath with a loud THUMP! 'So...much...pain...' thought Kenji as he slowly dragged his torso out. Because of the fall, he would be between Kitsune and the redhaired Ame shinobi. 'Chakra...it's working...' thought the boy and did some simple handseals for a last jutsu.
'Good luck everyone....sayonara' thought the Genin while he looked at the two closest to him [Kitsune and Kininata]. His eyes shut down and he had now left the mortal world with a small smile on his face. The young male had done his best, but it seemed like his weakness would become his ultimate demise. Hopefully, someone would send his body back to Konoha so he could be buried. Little did he know that his sister and his parents had been assassinated on their vacation...but now, they would all be in heaven together.
[Kenji's dead, you are now free to loot him. His umbrella is broken though]
Kenji's last jutsu. Aimed at Kitsune and Kininata.
Sasayaki no jutsu (Whisper technique). Rank: “D” Rank. Skill: Genjutsu. Effect: Creates a whispering voice in the target’s mind that only they can hear. Special: “Handseals”, hold ram. Drawback: The user must hold the ram seal for the voice to be continuously projected towards the target. Description: The user performs the handseals, ending with the ram seal and holding it. This projects chakra towards the opponent, stimulating the part of the opponent’s brain that translates the messages sent from the eardrum into actual voices. What this can do is create a whispering voice in the opponent’s mind, with the user choosing what is being whispered into it. Limit: Must know phantasm perception.

Was this it? Her vague idea had been completely off point, and she was - Hmm? The arrows descended, piercing the beautiful butterfly above her. "Rayna..." The kunoichi murmured as the summon disappeared into smoke. But, could it really be? Were their opponents truly just... retreating? Her hands still clasped in the Serpent seal, the girl just had to make sure. She could feel it! Flowers exploded into life around her as her chakra flowed, filling her with life and confidence once more. "Whoo~hoo!" Shiki couldn't help yell out with joy. However... really, they hadn't beaten their opponents. All they had done was run, desperately trying to survive... Speaking of survival, who still remained?
The kunoichi walked back towards the main battlefield, spotting a few dead bodies which she'd rather not look at. "Oh, looks like you made it then. Pity." She muttered, trying to hide a smile as she surveyed Kitsune. Should Kininata be in view, she would nod at him, feeling a touch proud. The Rain had come out on top, at least here. But, from the numerous Genin who had embarked on this path, only the three of them remained. "I... We were overconfident. Things are only gonna get harder from here, y'know?" The kunoichi said thoughtfully, hands on her hips.
However, Shiki couldn't help giggle at this point. They had made it! Regardless of the conditions or circumstances, they were alive, when others had died. And in fact, she, herself, was completely unscathed, and not even low on chakra~! Breathing deeply, the girl attempted to bring some sort of presentation back to her appearance, brushing twigs and leaves from herself, and combing her fingers through her hair. "Shall we move on then?" And with a small, determined smile, she began the walk towards the camp visible not too far ahead.

well, let it pass; april is over, april is over. there are all kinds of love in the world, but never the same love twice.
Apparently a twist in the arrows she had not forseen, one just barely missed the chance of stabbing through her shoulder - merely scratching it. The second however had chosen to pierce her leg, causing a great spurt of blood. This wasn't critical, but it was certainly problematic should the enemies fire more attacks. She could see the shadows of the figures disappear into the distance, just passed the smoke. A sigh of relief overcame her, it was over. Her eyes closed, as she pulled out the rather long arrow with a great tug of her right hand - it fell to the ground, joining the blood which dripped so frequently. " SHIT! " the pain was rather intense. Her hands gathered a warming green around them, lighting up the poised red. Her hands pushed against her wound, and the process began to quickly function. She looked around, seeing that Shiki, and the other rain ninja were the only ones standing , she could not see Kenji. Her chakra still wavered within the mangled flesh, steadily regenerating. She moved her leg in accordance with her hand, to ensure chakra reached the entire thing - couldn't have a wound half healed after all, could she?
She soon saw a blood trail, it dripped from the tops of a nearby tree, and blended with the brown bark the entire way down, the tree was fairly tall too. She began to move forwards, while continuing to heal. Her wound was soon gone, and so she focused on dealing with the scratch, which, with a quick press of her green hand atop the bare skin, was gone. It was there she saw Kenji. He was a in severe condition! She began to concentrate more powerful blasts of medical chakra to her palms, kneeling to his level, then forcing them into his chest. " Crap! He's lost too much blood! Theres wounds everywhere, I..I don't think I can.. " There was no movement, nothing happened. The cells wouldn't regenerate, the blood wouldn't pump. He had been taken.
A tear dropped onto his torso, as the medical chakra dissipated. Shiki gave a spiteful comment, but it was ignored. A whisper echoed, in her back of her mind. Good luck everyone....sayonara " Forgive me, Kenji. I couldn't protect you after all. " Her hands rummaged through his items, taking what she needed. She stood to her feet, forming many handseals - opening up a scroll, and scraping blood from her leg onto her thumb. Then , with a quick placement of her hand onto the paper. There was a gargantuan amount of smoke. Clouds of white engulfing the entire area around her. There stood Himara, the building sized Pink Slug, with delicate brown stripes running along her back. Kitsuné jumped atop her back, with Kenji on her shoulder. " Himara, take this boy back to Konoha, have the Hokage informed that he has fallen in battle. Then take him to the Crisis and Control Clinic, the medics will handle it from there. Oh and yes, Himara - show them my Medical ID, they'll know I sent you that way. " Kitsuné placed her medical ID around Himaras antennae, and then put Kenjis body atop Himaras slick skin, and with a quick bow to his corpse, she leaped off the slug. Landing on the safety of the rock hard ground. Himara gave a quick " Yes M'am. " before she and Kenji disappeared in another puff of smoke, back to return Kenji to his rightful place - Konoha.
Kenjis items were added to her collection. And thus, she followed Shiki out of the dreaded Path. ' C ' , the third letter. And the Path where only three survived. This..would be a memorable event, for all the wrong reasons..
His plan had worked, managing to avoid the volley, and he was in position to advance on them... but he could hear the quick movements of the enemy ahead of him. A small part of him wanted to pursue and deal with them, but he had to face facts - they had the ability to repress his Chakra - of this he was certain, considering that he could feel and mold his own once again - and any kind of pursuit was likely to get himself killed. He clutched his shoulder, checking the flow of blood to see if his blood had coagulated, and then went to inspect the casualties.
This wasn't what I was expecting he thought to himself, seeing the littered dead on the ground. He gave Shiki a look as she nodded towards him, and returned it; only three of them had survived the ordeal, it seemed, and unfortunately Shigure was not among them. He walked over to his body, kneeling down beside him, and closed his eyes in respect of the dead. Sorry, Marii. I wasn't fast enough. He said a quick, quiet prayer over the body of the young man, and then carefully took off his headband; he would return it to Marii personally, since he would be best to explain what happened. She would appreciate that.
He then had a quick look on his body for anything useful; he didn't like the thought of doing that, but at the end of the day, this exam was far more lethal than he had been expecting, and he had no intention of dying here. He checked through the pouches on his body, and saw a small pouch containing some useful tools, and laced that on his belt - the rest were more for his personal style, he guessed, and decided to leave them there. 'Take care, Kazeraikou Shigure. May whatever gods you believe in take you to a better place.' With the pouch collected, he would quickly move up to catch the other two and meet them.
