You and Your Character.

I form my characters off of one concept, and drop it right after that. Usually I have them do what I would do if I were them, I try to "method act" through them or something... But I'm trying to distance myself from that, and just trying to think "what would they do if they were them (which seems redundant, but...)" instead of "What would I do if I were them." I just have to stop imposing my beliefs on them, which is a bit easier when I have a younger character as I do on this site.
Kana to me is something of an enigma... I've been thinking a lot lately, how I like characters in an anime, but if I met them in real life I'd really dislike them, and so on. It's very difficult to pin how you really think of someone fictional, or for me to, at least, because I'm really not sure what I think of them. In the context of the fictional word, a character can be cute, and I'll love and only see that aspect of them, where as if I met someone really like that in real life, I might despise them. It's difficult to judge fictional characters for me, thusly.
Anyway, enough with the little rant. Kana is the embodiment of mischief combined with an innocence of sorts. She's selfish in a lot of regards, but in a way that never harms anyway. Occasionally she'll be struck with a surge of empathy on top of that, and I think that's what she really is; a person that wants to be supported and accepted. Though she may be brute in her methods at times, or might cause a bit of trouble in doing so, that is part of why people love her, and if people really start to have a problem with her, she'll actually worry about it. I think there's a bit of this in everyone. For most people its simply telling a joke to get people to like you, for Kana it's just taken to an extreme.
On the other hand, simply due to her age, there's an element of innocence I've not had the fortune of toying with before. Sometimes her good will ends up being interpreted as a joke, and so on. I won't go on about this, it's kind of boring.
I chose this character because I've never RPed as a young person before, and because I've never RPed as a character that is innocent in an way, that is oblivious on the level that Kana is, or that is as much of a trouble maker as Kana. Do I care about her? Yes, but not that she is "okay" or whatever, but rather that she has a character has an interesting, eventful, and at least on some level, important life within the context of this RP. If not that, I created her so that I would have more experience in RPing a young person, for the sake of improving my writing ability.
