40/80
Standing up I walked over to my bag and began to rummage through it, searching for something while I began the exercise. I began to draw minute bits of power into my mind's eyes so that I could begin to form the sphere. As I did so, I could tell that it was not going to be as easy as it was before when my concentration was more focused. Still, I needed to be able to perform this task as if it were second nature like this and in any conditions. Still, baby steps were better than trying to leap head first into a pool with an unknown depth.
Finally I found the book I was looking for, not one of my own works of course, and began to flip through the pages. If I could perfectly shape this sphere while I read, then I would move on to the final phase of my training. Still, I needed to speak with Miyuki as well which further divided my attention and increased the difficulty of the mental exercise. "Honor. A concept created by man so he could feel better about killing people who were against him. Well, not wanting to turn your back on people you care about is indeed a noble notion, though leaving your village does not necessarily mean turning your back on it." I turned the page and continued to read this book as the ball began to take a more clearly spherical shape in my head.
I continued to focus, shape the sphere as I did leaving a little pause in my speech to let the woman wonder. "You see," I continued, "you might find better opportunities to protect your village while you are not part of it. It is like the man in this story, in order to protect his kingdom he must leave it and never return." I would leave it at that and if the woman still did not wish to join me and my village as we struggled on then there was simply nothing else that I could do. Returning the divided attention once more to fully grasp my training I could feel the energy shaping itself much faster than before.
Yet it was still not fast enough, if I stopped reading then I was certain that the speed would increase again. Still, I would not allow my eyes to leave the page, if I did then I would be failing in my training completely. In battle I would need to form these spheres instantly and make use of them with a lot more going on than simply reading a book. My focus was poor yet the edges of the sphere continued to become more and more defined, this time I knew how clear the edges would need to be for the ability to take hold. A thought occurred to me and caused the edges of my technique to waver.
Perhaps I would need more than just the clarity to create the ability, maybe my focus needed to be completely on the technique as it formed. Well, now was as good a time as any to test this would while I read, as the edges had completely formed in my mind. The small amount of energy swirled within my body and I unleashed the miniature torrent of power. The chakra began to seep from my chest again yet it did not take form, my focus was not great enough to let it retain solidity.
