Kiyoshi had absolutely no doubts in his genjutsu capabilities, however he was well aware that it was the only thing he was skilled in as well. For this reason, he now wanted to train more sound techniques. For this, he was in one of the village’s standard training grounds, not really needing anything special besides space. With him he had Torak and his flute, not really needing anything else. It was the middle of the day, the sun high in the sky shining down on the two of them and his white and blue kimono clearly visible.
Gesturing to a spot about ten meters away from him, his pet hawk landed there obediently. “I promise this won’t harm you, I just want to practice a technique that will knock you back is all,” he assured the other, not sure if the other understood him fully but still it seemed to calm the bird. Reaching to the inside of his kimono, he pulled out a small piece of scrap paper that he had written notes on, having used the village library to get this but not having wanted to check it out. He made it a point to memorize the handseals, planning on performing this with them alone the first time around before he even touched his flute.
A few times he just repeated the sequence mentally, before pocketing the paper again and physically forming them. His nimble hands could move incredibly fast thanks to his practice over the years, and after just a few rounds he was able to perform the eight handseals in about three quarters of a second. His fingers were in a flurry of movement no doubt, but after he had the pattern down his movements slowed as he actually started pouring chakra into them. The chakra he used for sound was quite easy to distinguish from the rest of the chakra in his pathways, able to mold it easily just because it was so different from the rest, which was basically all perceptions.
The first pass was just a practice at molding the sound chakra, preparing his system for what was coming next. Once more, and this time he gathered his chakra up while he was performing the seals, and then expelled it in front of him after the last one was put together. The wave of sound that rolled forth was lackluster, if nothing else. He could hear the quiet ‘boom’ but it didn’t appear as if anything had happened. Having felt the travel of his own chakra, it was clear that the technique had only gone a couple meters in front of him and was only about a foot in diameter, nothing even close to what it should be. Instead of just starting again right away, he took a moment to think and concentrate, thinking of how he could get the results he wanted.
When he finally did perform the seals again, he pushed a tad more chakra into them, and focused on making the sound waves to spread out a lot more than they had previously. While there was some improvement, it wasn’t exactly as good as he had wanted, not even close actually. The range didn’t even meet Torak yet, and he kept working on it until it did. When he finally was able to make the technique go all the way to his bird, it was so weak that it barely ruffled the hawk’s feathers. Now that he was near the range he wanted, it was time to kick up the punch. Kiyoshi absolutely hated using more chakra for techniques to achieve what he wanted, but he really didn’t have to.
With the level of skill he had with his chakra control, he mostly just had to concentrate and control his chakra more finely, getting more for his energy rather than using more energy. The blonde was able to increase the power of the technique with no added chakra, if anything he was working on using less chakra for the technique. It wasn’t too long until he had both the power and range that was standard for this technique, a simple technique like this not too difficult for someone like him. Every time he managed to push Torak back, the bird always returned to his previous position, and Kiyoshi wasn’t satisfied until he could push his friend back fifteen meters, and could feel his chakra reaching out four feet in diameter while being one foot thick, and being able to travel twenty-five meters.
