Character Depth
Personality ||Izuki is, if anything, a peculiar woman to get to know. She's one of those characters that stands successfully in the grey area between good and evil. At her base, she is a strongly independent person, in spite of her disability. She stands alone most of the time, wandering wherever the wind takes her and taking no shit from anyone, including her own family. Izuki is not altogether good, either. Should you stand in her way, she'll have no qualms about cutting you down to size. In fact, she's kind of a bully when it comes to socializing. It starts with her cruel sense of humor and the lack of remorse for her actions.
At the same time, she has been known to show acts of the most sublime kindness... when it suits her fancy. The point is, you shouldn't try to force anything on her because in that case, she will fight you every step of the way. If you stand back and leave her to her own devices, she may surprise you. It all depends on how she's been treated, honestly. She can be nice, although she's most likely to be cruel no matter how you treat her, but if you treat her with respect, she'll reciprocate.
Evil? Not exactly. Selfish? Bingo. Izuki would rather do something that will benefit only herself, rather than act out of the kindness of her heart. She comes off as a slippery coward, but she's just a strong believer in looking out for numero uno, and for that reason, she would rather be alone than weigh herself down in a village. For that reason, she's not particularly happy where she is in the Hidden Grass, but she doesn't know how to get out without putting a target on her back. The way it is now, she's likely to emotionally shatter at any moment and that's because, as stated before, she hates being forced to do anything. If she's in a place where she's unhappy, she will actively search for a way out of the situation and if she can't find one, this unhappiness will build and grate on her sanity.
That's not to say she would be completely opposed to settling, but she would have to have a VERY good reason for doing so, and the situation in question would have to bring her peace of mind. For example, if this battered, sarcastic bitch could find love. Otherwise, she's about as cuddly as a saw blade and her personality can come off as being abrasive at times. She may be blind, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't be interested in biting you a new one if you decided to treat her like she was anything less than a capable individual.
Appearance ||
Izuki when her hair grows out.Izuki is one of those quirky beauties you find only once in a lifetime. She's not particularly drop-dead gorgeous, or for that matter, much to look at at all, but she's decent, for a blind girl. She usually has her hair pulled back into a bun, even though every now and then she'll let it down to hang to her shoulder blades. Although it can grow to an ungodly length if she let it grow out. You wouldn't know she was blind at first, because her eyes are not white or clouded over. They're a normal light blue. What gives it away is her inability to look anyone in the face, or the blankness in her expression.
The femme is kind of short for her age and as such, her weight makes her seem a bit pudgy, but that's because she hasn't exercised beyond walking from place to place. She's also lightly tanned from her extensive time spent outside training with her dog, Niko. As a result, she's usually covered in a layer of dust and dog hair, even though she DOES bathe regularly. Usually, she's wearing a kimono, with hidden pockets to hold all of the equipment she brings with her everywhere- the poison-tipped shuriken, the cotton wraps, and the other standard ninja tools all have their own pockets. When she gets into fights, she usually lets the top half of the kimono shrug off her shoulders to expose her bare torso, which is bound in a cotton bandage at all times as though she were embarrassed of her cleavage and wanted to pretend she was flat-chested. Mind you, this is actually true, but also it's because fighting with her chest wrapped makes it easier for her to move.
On her feet, she wears a pair of brown leather sandals. No particular reason for the switch but she's not very comfortable in the air, and so she doesn't need the grip that the standard blue ninja shoes usually have. In a battle, she will sometimes simply abandon the shoes altogether, having a sturdy belief that the earth is her anchor when grass is all she can feel under her toes. Don't get her wrong, she can walk on water and cling upside down on ceilings and tree branches just like a normal ninja can, she just prefers to remain on the ground.
Background ||||Before Birth||
Mother || Tari Inuzuka
Father || Kuromaru Ryu
Siblings || She has 2 younger half-siblings in the hidden leaf, living with her mother, but she doesn't know who they are, has only seen them once when she was a child, and would likely not recognize their faces if she were to see them again.
Tari met Kuromaru when the two were working a mission together. The person who had hired the leaf ninja for this particular mission, was a delegate from the Land of Grass. He had hired a ninja from his home land out of patriotism, but the ninja in question were either killed or went missing during the mission, so the delegate had to turn to one of the great nations, the land of fire to hire ninja from the leaf village in order to get the mission done, and to also find out what had happened to the last team. Tari had been assigned as the sensory specialist and went with her team to complete the mission. They found Kuromaru alive, but injured badly and Tari was ordered to take him home to seek medical attention. The journey to Kusagakuri was agonizingly slow because of Kuromaru's wounds and as a result, the two spent a lot of time together.
As is the nature of these things, the two ninja fell in love and soon after parting, Tari learned she was to have a baby. However, because Tari was already married, the kunoichi kept the pregnancy a secret for as long as she could, and faked her own death on a mission when she was close to pregnancy. She met with Kuromaru to give birth on the border between the lands of fire and of grass, and when Izuki was born, she was given to her father to be raised as a Hidden Grass Ninja. The two forbidden lovers never saw each other again, and Izuki was raised to believe her mother had died before she was old enough to remember her.||Childhood||
Izuki's childhood was pretty much wrought with a lot of sickening jolts and twists. The first of which was when they figured out she was blind. Izuki's father had such high hopes for her, that the news she could not perform as a ninja if she was blind the way she was, was devastating to both of them. But from that moment on, she was treated differently. Izuki thought that the people around her didn't think or know that they were being so piteous towards her, or maybe they just thought she couldn't tell the difference, but when you were allowed to swing as high as you wanted one week, and then were closely monitored the next so that you could only swing yay high? You tend to notice the difference.
There were so many restraints placed on her that she eventually tried to run away when she was 8. She got all the way south to the land of fire when she was captured by a group of hidden leaf ninja and brought home once they realized who she was and that there had been an alert sent out to all villages about her, requesting she be taken home immediately. Unfortunately, one of the leaf ninja to capture her was Tari. her mother was furious when she found out what was going on and realized that Izuki was her daughter and she and Kuromaru had a fight about how he was treating her. Eventually, Izuki's father gave in and allowed Izuki to go to the grass's ninja academy. She was only allowed to learn up to D-rank jutsu, but at least everyone was happy... ish, and now that Tari knew that her eldest daughter was alive and safe, she sent a puppy as was customary for any member of the Inuzuka clan. Izuki wasn't a traditional member, but Tari did it anyways because of the need and because she wanted her daughter to have something from her clan. Affectionately named Niko, the girl and her dog grew up together from then on.||Post-Academy||
As a Genin, Izuki was placed in a three-man cell with a supervisor just as all the other teams, but unlike them, she wasn't permitted to participate in missions above D level. It seemed that even as a kunoichi, she was to be coddled. Resentful, and entering her teenage years, Izuki rebelled as much as she could manage against this handicap. She ran away from home several times, but was always brought back. She and her father were always fighting. It was like there was a resident storm cloud hanging over their house. Nothing Izuki did made any difference, though, and so in time, she gave up and dealt with it. It wasn't until she was 16 that her life changed. her father died on a mission and she was... well, at least a little freer to do as she pleased. She trained herself rather hard, but that didn't change anything in how the village treated her.
Because in their eyes, she was still useless. She's grown up without a friend, even the members of her old Genin team baby her and she hates it. In truth, she would love nothing better than to leave and never come back, but she doesn't know how to do that without being captured and brought back home, just like she has her entire life.||And now...||
At nineteen, Izuki is old enough to be a jounin if she were normal. She's on the verge of snapping because of how unhappy she is. What keeps her from it is her dog, Niko. He always seems like the only one who understands her, and she would probably be lost without him around in her life. She feels like she can withstand anything as long as he's near her- protecting her and comforting her. Niko worries that she's not trying hard enough to find human friends, although neither of them can predict the future or what it has in store for them. We'll just have to wait and see.
