Description: Picture Ginseng refers to a species of slow-growing plants with fleshy roots and grows in forested areas during the cooler seasons. Generally speaking, the ginseng plant is small with bright green leaves around the base with stems of small red fruits. Although the plant bears fruit, they are useless for anything other than simple sustenance. The roots of the ginseng plant hold many types of adaptogens, or chemicals that help the body accommodate stress by increasing the body's production of hormones and endorphins. Takes 1 week to prepare. Will be cut, dried, crushed or powdered for later use. Herb consists 2 doses.
Limit: Must know Herbal Knowledge for Forest Regions. 80% chance of finding.
Cost: 9,000 Ryo per herb. 3,000 Ryo per Dosage.

Description: With a great show of will the user rips their soul in half effectively making a copy of themselves. The duration of this technique is 4 hours per class level. By performing this technique the user makes a full size copy of themselves. This copy is the user as much as the user is a copy of it. The user takes their chakra and splits it in half. This means that the user must now work with half of their energy, and half of the capabilities when dealing with Soulcaster techniques. The same can be said with the copy. At any time one of the copies can dismiss the other no matter what the range may be. If one is dismissed or if they are killed it does not bring back the chakra or energy, however the user will know. If one is killed the other copy is stunned for 1 round. If dismissed or killed any extra items they are carrying drops to the ground as the copy vanishes.

The girls stopped walking once they were deep enough in the forest region.

"So what exactly are we looking for?" Tarah asked The Saint in her mind.

An image of a leafy plant with red berries growing out the top flashed through Tarah's mind. Vi also receive a similar vision. A second image of the plant being pulled out also flowed past, and the roots were incredibly thick.

Ginseng.

Tarah and Vi nodded at each other, then split into a pair of two.

Tarah went towards the East. To assist with the search, she activated her mono-goggle and looked through the vegetation with the X-ray lens. She kept the thermal vision off, since the heat signature of everything was roughly the same. Her other eye was kept open, in case her goggle vision missed the telltale red fruit of the ginseng plant. Tarah kept to open areas during her search. She wanted to get the obvious spots out of the way first.

Vi tried a different tactic. Although the plant was small and had a single red fruit point, she walked up to the trees in order to search. In that way, she could just jump down to any spots of red on the ground. She may confuse the ginseng with other plants such as berries and roses, but it also gave her a more direct approach to the herb she was searching for. Slow progress wasn't very fun for her.

Both girls had large and simple sacks strapped to their belt to place all the herbs they found.

"I got one!" Vi yelled from across the forest.

Tarah turned her head and narrowed her eyes. She was losing the competition. She immediately began jogging through the trees in order to locate some ginseng. Her haste caused her to trip over a few tree roots, but the stumbles helped her with looking down, so it wasn't a total loss. She keep her eyes open and the X-ray activated to look through any passing tree trunk. That way she didn't need to waste time circling trees.

Vi grinned as she put the ginseng into her sack. Then she sprinted up another large tree trunk with her chakra grip. Once she was a few meters of the ground, she roosted herself on a branch and gazed out at all of the forest. Most of her view was blocked by the plentiful trees, but it didn't take long to spot another dot of red far in the distance. Once found, Vi leapt off the bark and towards the bundle of red.

Tarah sighed with relief as she found one of the particular plants. "Finally."

After placing it in the sack, Tarah ran forth once more. She didn't alert Vi of her find, since she wanted to take the lead by surprise. This time she dug through bushes to locate any hidden Ginseng plants. A few of the thicker bits of vegetation blocked off her X-ray goggle, so she had to search manually. The bits of leave and branch prickled her arms, but didn't harm her much. It did make her ticklish, though.

Vi was disappointed. The bit of red she had spotted was only a distant rose. The old personality shook her head and dashed up the nearest tree. Ginseng was usually surrounded by big leaves, so this time she avoided any dots of red in bushy plants. A few dozen meters to the West, there was a small gathering of red bit that could indicate ginseng plants, so Vi ran over there in a swift jump.

At first, Vi was disappointed. She only found a bunch of berry bushes. But then the very specific ginseng berries were seen at the corner of her eye. "Got another!" She shouted.

Tarah cursed to herself when she heard the triumph from her sister. She had the goggle advantage, but Vi was taking the lead somehow. Now half enraged, she started to turn around wildly with her X-ray goggle, hoping to try and brute force her way into finding some ginseng plants. On accident, she moved too fast and tripped over a root, landing painfully on her head.

Vi had a similar slip up when she packed up the herb and ran up another forest tree. The lumber she scaled this time was hallow, and the branch she tried to perch on was extremely brittle. Before she could look out for more bits of red to run towards, the branch gave out and dropped her down into one of the bushes. Her physical capabilities protected her from any damage, but it still disorientated her.

Description: The Cow Parsnip is a tall herb, reaching to heights of over 2 meters. It has the characteristic flower umbels of the carrot family , about 20 centimeters across; these may be flat-topped, as in the picture at right, or more rounded, and are always white. The leaves are large, up to 40 centimeters across, divided into lobes. The stems are stout and succulent. Cow parsnip has small leaves covered with tiny hairs. These hairs must be made into a salve. Cow parsnip will cure madness for a short period (8 hours). Repeated application over a 2 week period may (GMs discretion) cure insanity altogether. Herb consists 8 doses.
Limit: Must know Herbal Knowledge for Forest Regions. 50% chance of finding.
Cost: 14,500 Ryo per herb; 1,450 Ryo per dosage

"Hey, let's switch to Cow Parsnips!" Vi yelled out, "Worth a bit more!"

"Fine!" Tarah shouted back.

The yells were faint, since the girls were more than three dozen meters away from one another.

Tarah searched her head for the image of a Cow Parsnip, and found an internal image of a tall herb that was just over her height. She looked down at her sack, and figured that it would just be enough to keep the herb in place if they found it. Knowing that, she did a quick sweep around her with the X-ray goggles, to see if there were any tall herbs nearby. There was one a few meters to the North, so she slowly walked towards it.

Vi dislodged herself from the bush and patted away the dirt that stained her clothing. She then retrieved the sack and began searching for the tall herb. In some ways, it was harder to find because of its lack of vibrant colors. She couldn't rely on singling out red like the ginseng, so she also resorted to walking through the forest soil. There were numberous tall plants around her, but she ran at the one least like a simple sapling.

The flowers were white on top. So it wouldn't be so difficult to spot after all.

There was a defining color for Vi to search for, so it wasn't actually as difficult to find cow parsnips as she figured. Pleased with her discovery, she stuffed the tall herb into her sack, then climbed yet another tree to use as a watchtower. There were plenty of white plants, flowers, and objects in the forest, so Vi had to pick carefully. The cow parsnip was tall, so that was her key to finding it.

It was faint, but Tarah was pretty sure that Vi found another herb. Now she was way behind. Then again, perhaps Vi just wanted to switch targets because she had already located the cow parsnip beforehand. Well, it would be something to find out later. Tarah was only able to locate a few tree saplings so far, and had no luck with the new herb target. She actually considered switching back to ginseng, but continued looking because she didn't want to admit defeat.

Tarah found a cow parsnip at last. It had taken a while, and she had almost missed it. Thankfully the fuzzy leaves brushed against her skin and alerted her about its position. After she dug it up and placed it into her sack, she examined the finer details of the herb. She paid attention to the white flowers on top, as well as the bigger leaves growing out. Once she confirmed the appearance, she looked all around her with the X-ray vision.

Unable to find another cow parsnip, Vi jumped further and further away from Tarah. Once in a complete new area, Vi lowered herself to the ground and stared at the tiny forest of saplings she stumbled upon. Apparently a squirrel must have misplaced its nuts, because there was a bush-like cluster of stemmed plants poking out from the ground. It was like a mossy porcupine was sleeping in front of her.

The gap between Vi and Tarah lengthened as the former went prowling elsewhere. Nothing out of the norm appeared to be happening in their pursuit of herbs--no sign of wanton disturbance kept them from searching for whatever it was that they were searching for..

A large bush abruptly appeared in front of Tarah. She didn't recognize the species, but it had fuzzy leaves similar to a cow parsnip. Curious about the possibility of it hiding a herb deep within, she began to rummage through the plant. Sharp of pointy branches poked her from within the bush, but they were just a mild annoyance. Tarah didn't see any of the white flowers yet, but it was a chance worth taking.

Vi shook her sack to make sure that all the herbs were properly bundled. Then she looked towards a small crevice by plants blooming inside. Although most of the plants in the crevice weren't that large, she figured it was possible to find a young parsnip hidden within. She immediately hopped over and cheerfully picked around the plants. She tried to identify all the plants with white flowers, hoping to find one that matched her goal.

Tarah yawned and stretch out her limbs. She went back to looking around the forest with her x-ray mono-goggles. While she looked through trees and leaves, she began to wonder about getting a zooming lens feature for her item. While she looked around, she noticed a flash of something white inside a hollow tree. She tried to make out what the object was, but the inside of the hollow was too dark. She settled for breaking it open.

Vi climbed her way out of the muddy crevice. Once free, she looked for another other signs of a tall white herb. When nothing was found, she shrugged to herself and went over to climb a large and stable tree. Since she was a bit tired of walking up, she used some fire based jet propulsion to get her to the upper branches. Once seated on a tree branch, The Nova gazed down below for another cow parsnips to be found.

Tarah strolled through the forest while picking splinters out of her fingers. She muttered to herself in annoyance, as she thought of all the better ways to break open the hollow tree. That said, it was worth the risk. Her ability to heal handled the rest of her injuries, so she went about looking for more of those white flowery umbrellas. Her eye was feeling a bit tired, so she lifted her goggles and looked around with naked eyes.

Vi cracked her knuckles and started to backtrack to Tarah’s location. She didn’t want to remain separated for too long, but she still looked for herbs on her way. She leapt from branch to branch, scanning the forest floor below. Every time she spotted a glimpse of white, she would hop down from her roost and check it out. Most of them were standard plants and flowers, none of which were the type she was searching for.
