After doing an exact replica of the piece using the same kind of leather, he pressed them together and made sure they fitted perfectly. Emi then began to sew around the edges of the leather using a durable string he knew regularly was used for leather. When he had done the whole thing but the entrance for the hand, he turned the freshly made glove inside out. It wasn't completely even and had some places where it was drastically too large for his hand. So he turned it back to the first side and opened up the stitches, then he tried to measure the approximate thickness that he would need there and then sew it back. Emi also used a special solution that was supposed to make the leather more flexible, which he hoped would make it easier and more fitting to use-
That time the glove actually fitted quite good and he just needed to fix a couple of more stitches before he was completely satisfied. Emi then began to mark all of the joints on the glove and approximately how big they were. Then he tried to imagined how large the area would need to be to avoid two sides of metal to lock in to each other. That cost him quite a lot of protection, and he began to wonder how much normal gloves were constructed to protect the entire hand. To study the picture in the book didn't give him much information, so he had to try it out himself. That was when he remembered that he still hadn't done anything on the blueprint, so he added in all of the details that he had found out thus far.
Emi then made a hard piece of steel and placed it on top of the leather glove, it was still uncut, so it was by far too large. But he just measured the plate, how much would be needed to be taken off and how much he had to bend it for a perfect fit around the hand. Despite that his hands still wasn't quite fully developed due to his fairly young age, he didn't need to bend the metal that much. But he cut out the metal and trimmed down the rough edges before he hammered on the steel with a few blows before testing the piece again. When the piece didn't feel uncomfortable to have upon the glove, Emi added it to the piece by both wrapping it around with small leather strips, but also by inserting it into metal buttons. It was a little awkward for him to make the buttons as he didn't really know how they functioned, but he had heard that it was the most common way of doing it.
