The boy then put the glove on and had it move around in the room, trying to see if anything would fall off and to feel if the hair would be in the way. But he calmly could note that he could move on with the next step, to fix some more details to the face. To form a lions head, he would need to make some more depth in the item, which he only could do by cutting the fur. Since the gauntlet had to keep its for he would have to be really careful not to overdo it and cut off more than he wanted. So Emi measured the length of the overall fur and decided that half of that would be the shortest point of it. The lions did however not have that many low spots, at least not what he would be doing on the glove.

That made him think that he could stretch the limit a little more, but his heart swayed him to keep it easy at first. So he removed just a small amount while creating the structure of the face, just to get the overall appearance. When he started to see the lion within the gauntlet, his hands moved around quicker and more hair flew around as he swiftly cut it off. When everything was cut, he took a quick look on his work, but estimated that he indeed was able to make the face even more clear. So while being completely aware that any mistake would force him to redo the entire fur, Emi began to cut out even more of the hair to reveal the face. The boy had to brush off some sweat as he finished the final cut, he had managed what he had feared to do, the lion structure had been completed.

A few winds of air was blown from his mouth as he removed the scraps left from the cut, while he held it in front of some light to see if there were any hair that had escaped. What else is there now? He wondered. The eyes, nose and teeth were obvious, but he pondered if he wanted to add in the ears as well. It looked a little empty without those hanging out from the mane, but if he did make them he figured that they would just be in the way. But then he came up with a great idea, he could make them into one of the weapons for the glove. If they had a cutting and stab function, they wouldn't be just a flavor thing, but what would he use? Emi came to the conclusion that it would be easiest to just make the ears out of the same steel as the rest of the gloves.

That would however force him to remove a big path of fur and mane away from two areas on the head, something he really didn't want to do. But as he considered his possibilities, he realized that he could keep the fur if he just redid the net upon it and cut it open enough to fold the fur. What he however did not think of was that when he had rearranged the net and made a cross-cut in the leather, he remembered that he had glued it on. He swore from frustration and looked through the room for any possible glue remover. There were a few of them in the smithy, but all of them were used on stronger glue and would damage the fur if it came in contact with it. That made him wonder if there even were any kind that he would be able to use, as the glue that he had used was among the strongest he could've used.

So he had to scrape the glue off using the same dagger he had opened the leather up with. It was painful for the boy as he heard the beautiful metal screech beneath his hand and the leather take minor damage each time his blade touched it. So when he had removed the absolute minimum from both of the openings, Emi threw the knife away and checked out the damage. It was not as bad as he had thought at first, but he still had to remove the lowest level of tissue before applying a new one. The process was slow and he had to be really careful not to inflict further harm to it. The ironical thing was as he added on the new layer he had to use a leather glue to attach it to the main part.

When it had dried and he had made sure that it was a complete merge that would be able to hold on, he put in some metal into the flames. After a seconds when it had been properly heated, he pulled it out and hit it a few times to make it slightly larger. Then he added on some coal powder upon the iron before he bend the metal a couple of times to make sure to mold the coal into it. Emi then threw it back into the fire again to soften it up until it was time for him to actually form the ears. The general appearance of the ears would be very simple as they would be like two sides of a pyramid. But the hard part was that he needed to have the ears to be functioning in combat, so he made sure that the tips were pointier and the edges long.

Since it was supposed to be able to take some impact, he had to add in an extra layer of metal so it would break apart. Then he attached it to the holes that he previously made by carefully weld it to the metal that was the base of the glove. He had to make sure to keep the welder at low heat not to make the metal too hot, as that would just damage the leather attached to it. When he safely had both of the ears on, he used some of the same glue from before to put on the fur to the bottom of the ears. Since that was barely covering the base of the ears, he had to get some more fur from the clone. The fake Emi had fallen asleep on the floor, but had a big pile of both mane and normal fur in front of him.

So Emi picked it up and began to cover the back of the ears with the normal fur while he had it double bend on the inside of the ears. That made it both easier to cover all of the ears with fur that looked like belonged. But Emi then wondered what kind of color he would need to use for the inside of the ears. It made sense that it would be even brighter than the normal fur, but since he had never seen any real lion, he got a little worried. But he thought that it would better to just make it believable to him and then accept if it wasn't quite proper. So he used the same color as he had used for the normal fur, but added in some extra white to even out the color some more before he began to apply it.

When he was done with the coloring, he couldn't help but feel that the ears was a little too constructed. There were little to no life in them, so he added in a couple of longer straws that would make it look like there were some individuality to the lion. Even though he still wasn't completely satisfied, he nodded and accepted it as functional and moved on. Next step for him was to make it actually combat friendly, which he did by removing some of the fur at the edges, not enough to be visible, but enough to fixed. Then he sharpened the edges and made them pointier to the point that they were as sharp as kunais. Emi then used some sandpaper to finish the grinding off and polished the edges with some oils.

The next real thing he had to address was the fangs, as they looked quite ludicrous as just a part of the overall head. So Emi removed the fur from the teeth and placed it in a pile that was ready to be salvaged. It was an immediate improvement, but it was still not nearly close to be done. he brought out some of the remaining mithril and put it into the fireplace for some heating and strengthening. The reason he decided that he wanted the rare metal was as he intended to use the teeth solely for ripping damage, which the metal would be great for. He was however still a little inexperienced using the metal, so he made sure to continuously check the instructions he had made for himself regarding it.

When the metal had been properly heated, he brought it out and cut it up into ten smaller pieces and hammered them all flat. Emi then took one of them and added the chemicals needed to increase the strength of the metal and allow it become more flexible. After also covering the remaining ones as well, he hammered in the chemicals and put them back into the flames. Some of the fire turned into a bright blue color, similar to the metal and when he finally brought them out, he saw the similar lights shining from them like he had seen before. He took that as a good sign and carefully placed them on the anvil right before he began to shape them. The goal was to have them in similar shape to arrowheads while having some room within for the fingers.

As he first tried to make the shape immediately from the lump of metal into the finished thing, he had a hard time making the space for the fingers. So he changed his strategy to make small triangular shapes and then merge them like a pyramid. As he allowed the metal to cool down before handling them, it was easy for him to be precise when placing them. But since the metal was so thin, he had to make sure to use a normal weld instead of the blowtorch. It went smoothly with the machine until he had made a complete side of the claw and noticed that the merge was covered in normal iron weld. The boy cursed as he removed the machine from the metal and tried to scrape off the weld, but in vain, it was a beautiful weld.

How could I miss that? Was the only thought that went through his head as he tried to rub off as much iron he could. Since it was a lost cause to save it completely, he picked up the metal saw and split up the pieces from the merge. The frustration about that small piece made him throw it into the fireplace instead of salvage what was remaining. But since he had so little mithril left, he had to accept that he wouldn't be able to make the claws as thick as he wanted. So he hammered out the metal to get the same size as needed and made sure to place them in the same pattern as before. When he then had put the blowtorch on the absolute minimum heat and merged the pieces, he check for possible damage and sighed.

The merge had managed to stay completely damage free, but there were some darker patches that he suspected came from the heat. There where no other way however, so he made the same thing with the remaining nine and kept his patience and tried to master the gentle way of welding. Emi then shaped the pyramids into a more rounded version which he then sanded down to make it even more like a claw. That made the metal gather more closer to the tip of the claw, which he got quite happy with as that would be needed to get the durability needed. But since the base was too weak even with such a good construction, he added in some stability pillars in there. He didn't want to do too much before he put them on the actual glove as they could change what he needed to do.

So he made some final adjustments to the claws and sharpened them to the point that they were actually really sharp before he placed them upon the finger tips. Most of them fit very well and only need a couple of minor modifications, but the thumbs and the pinkies were far from close to fit. Emi then had to measure the real length around them both on the inside and from the outside just to get a grip on how thick it was. After that he warmed the pieces up until the metal got softer, making him able to bend the sides out to fit the shape better. The thumbs did however get so thin that some holes began to appear in the mithril, which forced the boy to quickly remove them from the flames. Another couple of swear-words escaped him as he tried to repair the damage done to the surface.

Thanks to the fact that he had made all of the tips thinner, he was able to gather enough mithril from the left overs to make a sheet to cover the holes with. The shape of the claws were however lost, which forced him to reheat them to be able to bend the metal as he wished. To avoid yet another disaster, he had to come up with a better solution than to just put it into the flames and have it melt. So he instead pulled up his tongs and made a temporary construction in front of the fireplace that would hold the claw close enough to heat it. Since it was so basic, he knew that if he needed to move it, he could do that with little to no effort. So that made him confident enough to have the construction start off further away from the fireplace than he would normally anticipate the metal could be affected at.

After he had waited a few minutes to see if the metal was getting hotter, he noticed to his surprise that it actually was gaining some heat. Unsure if the heat would be enough, he allowed it be for a couple of minutes more while he walked over to his tools to see if there were any pieces he could fix while waiting. As most of the stuff were old, he could actually just choose whichever, so he decided to work on his hammers. Since he normally used them in both his crafting and training, he wanted them to be at their best when needed. So he brought out all of the hammers and put them in a long line with the biggest at one side and the smallest on the other. Most of them were made of some normal steel version and had just a few small cracks on the metal, but had begun to break in the handles.

As he didn't know how long it would take for the claws to finish, he decided that he would take a couple of easy ones to begin with. So he grabbed a couple of ball peen hammers and put them on the anvil and began to carefully observe their flaws. The first one he wanted to fix had a couple of burn-marks on the head and a long crack along the wooden handle. The head would be easy to fix, but Emi worried a little about the handle, as he needed to remove the head to fix the crack, but that would risk breaking it. But since he already had so many of them, he figured that it didn't really matter that much if actually did break, so he decided to try. So Emi took a small rubber hammer, cooled down the ball peen hammer before he began to hammer on the head, careful not to hit it too hard.

It took a lot of weak hits before he had managed to get it from its normal position, but after that it moved a lot quicker. But then before he had almost removed it, the head got stuck into a fat splinter and as he couldn't see how it was attached he got worried it would hurt the handle if he forced it. So Emi forced in a thin rod and poked the splinter away from the metal head and pinched it into the wood while he hammered with the rubber hammer again. The head slammed against the anvil as it suddenly burst away from the handle with surprisingly fast speed. Emi had to swoop down to catch the head to avoid it hit the ground and get further possible damages. In his drastic movement, he momentary forgot the handle, which fell down to the floor as he accidentally dropped it.

Emi shrugged as he realized that it was too late for him to do anything about it, but he felt bad as he saw that the crack had allowed a piece to break free. He scratched away the loose pieces and tried to clean up so there wasn't a bunch of different depths in the crack. The boy then measured the entire crack and made a 3D drawing of how it was and all of the dimensions for it. Then he began to sculpt some wood to make it into the exact same form as the crack. He checked the fit several times before he just had to sandpaper it a little on the sides before it was a perfect fit. But as he placed the wood into the crack, he realized that he had to sand it down a little more to make sure that the glue didn't make it too large.

When he had managed to get it in proper size, he inserted it with a bunch of wood-glue that immediately ran down the handle as he pressed in the piece. So he wiped it off with a piece of paper before clamping it shut with one of his strong tongs. While it was drying off, Emi walked back to the fireplace and checked on the claws. They were getting softer, but as he wanted to form them easily, he had to allow them to get even softer before removing them. As the glue was drying fast it had already done so when he got back to the handle, so he had his fingers move over the surface and explored the dried glue. The wood had risen slightly over the surface of the handle, but as that was better than being lower, he didn't mind that much and began to sand it down.

It didn't take long for him to sand down the excess wood, which allowed him to quickly continue on with evening out the remainder of the handle. There were no difficulties with that task as he just moved up and down along the wood with the paper. But like many previous simple tasks with his weapon crafting, it was therapeutic for him. So when the handle was finished, Emi just knocked off the head from other hammers with similar need of sanding and kept on going on those. When the damages turned into more advanced versions, he sighed and put the sandpaper to the side and began to knock the heads back in place. He still used the rubber hammer as he didn't want to hurt anything on the hammers, even though he knew they were durable enough to handle some damage.

As he didn't want the task to take too long as he was just doing it while he waited for the claws, he ignored the hammers he hadn't started with and focused on the ones he already had fixed the handles for. But before he got to start with the heads, he realized that he could still do some work on the handles. It did however require for him to remove the heads again, which he did without so much as a complaint. Then he searched for a good oil for wood, which there were quite a lot of in the work-room. There were not very much information to go for whilst deciding which one to use, so he decided to just go for the one that appeared to have been used the most. Most of the statistical information appeared to have high numbers, but the most important to him was that the durability was increased versus water, heat and aging.

Even though he didn't use oils that often while crafting things, it had become all the more common for him to do so. Which meant that he would be able to use that oil in the future, as the qualities was exactly what he would need. The instructions were however in a foreign language which he had no way of interpret, so he hoped that it didn't have any other flaws than being flammable. Emi then brought out some of his pencils and decided to pick on of the thinner with a broad head on. It went both swiftly and smoothly as he allowed the brush run and down the handles, leaving a trail of sparkly surface behind. To make sure that the oil wouldn't be rubbed off while they dried, Emi hung them up in strings, which he attached to them using clamps.

The wood darkened under the oil until the point that it had dried up, then it got a little brighter as the final color. He used his finger to confirm that all of it had dried before he once again attached the heads to the handles. Then he began to fill in the damages on the heads that actually were hurt with a small amount of molten iron. To get the exact amount that he wanted, he used the blowtorch and aimed it at a small amount of iron that he held above the damage. Since the amount was too small for him to transform into steel, he hoped that it wouldn't matter too much if it remained as iron. He imagined that it would fall off easier and possibly get more dents if that area was affected, but other than that it wouldn't do much.

To make sure that the surface was good-looking on those too, Emi made sure to sand it a few extra times to really bring out the shine. When he was satisfied with the overall appearance of his tools, Emi went back to the hearth and noticed that the claws were ready to be expanded. So he brought them with himself and gently began to pull the sides outwards until they had reached the width of the desired measurement. Then he quickly put the pieces of mithril into the bucket of cold water he had next to the anvil to rapidly cool them down. When he brought them out from the water and tried them onto his fingers, there were little changes he needed to do until they were optimal. That would however require a lot of small maneuvers, which forced him to use his rubber hammer.

But after a couple of hits, he noticed that the area he needed to affect was so much smaller than he could touch with the rubber hammer. So he instead had to go back to his hammers that he just recently had fixed. Emi used the rounded side to affect minimum area while making his careful hits with the hammer. He didn't want to risk ruining the final pieces of mithril that he had in the house, so every change in them were carefully planned and measured. When he finally thought that they looked good and they fitted upon the fingers of the glove, Emi decided that he wanted to add in some extra sharpness to the claws. So he looked through his chests until he found what he was looking for, a small piece of a diamond.

Since the edges already were extremely sharp from his sanding of them, he felt that it kinda would be overkill to add on that. That would also replace the tips of the claws, which would've made the entire point to make them perfect a useless endeavor, but he still felt like it was something he wanted to do. So Emi brought out a tiny chisel and a hammer, both which were commonly used to work on diamonds or similar crystals. He then investigated where it would be most beneficial to take a piece from the diamond. But since it was so small, it was really hard to judge and in the end he had to settle with just measuring out equally sized parts and divide the diamond after that. Few of the shards were actually what he had wished, but most were fixable to some extent, which he immediately started off with.

Tiny shrapnel were laying around the diamond on the table and even though Emi resented himself when he began to search through them, he knew that he had to find some better pieces that those he accidentally had destroyed. It had been too hard for him to make them all good, but he applied the best ones upon the claws of the glove and then merged remains from others to create the final ones. The claws ended up looking so bad that the boy even considered to just scrap the entire idea with the diamonds, but after a few slash tests with it, he just couldn't do it, it was just too good. So Emi tried to camouflage it by adding on some color that made it blend into the general background of the claw. That was almost successful, yet he couldn't help but wonder what would happen with the claw if used often. He had to stop thinking about it however as he realized that the glove in general would become quite damaged by fighting as just a few drops of blood would ruin the fur.

So he closed it off by making a couple of minor adjustments to the weapon and made it shine both in the pieces of metal and the fur before he put it on a shelf. It was time for yet another project, he looked around for any possible inspiration and found it while looking at some of his spare wood. The boy had been using an umbrella for defensive purposes for too long, it was time for him to move on to actually use a shield. So he brought out the hardest wood he had and tried to punch it a few times. Not very surprisingly it managed to take the blows quite good, mostly because it was a massive chunk of wood, but also because it had the proper attributes that he wanted. To make himself more comfortable with the material, Emi looked it up in his book and was happily surprised on the high grading it had received as crafting component.
