Emi had finally started to realize how soon it'd be until he had entered the chunin exam and he just couldn't wait. His hands were shaking from the thrill and he couldn't rub the smile off his face. It seemed as if his friend was almost as eager as himself and Emi had to run to keep up with Zetsubô's pace. But as he crossed the first small bridge on the way, he remembered that he hadn't even tried his latest buys, the items he'd be using for the first time during the important exam. So he reached to his back and grabbed the first handle he reached and drew it. It was his metal umbrella and even though he had bought it for its shielding properties, he was a little surprised that it was weighting so much. Despite the fact that he was a very strong ninja, he had troubles to holding the umbrella as the shield it was intended as.

So he grabbed the shield both his hands started to swing it around himself while aiming at imaginary opponents. Zetsubô thought that it looked fun, so he turned around and joined in as the sparring partner. The stabbing part with the umbrella was quite easy with both hands as it was as if using a spear, but then when he let go of his right hand to wield it in his shield arm, the umbrella got heavy in the front and he aimed too low to hit Zetsubô. The beast jumped back just to zigzag back towards Emi. The young boy took a firmer grip of the umbrella and had his forearm rest on the long stick so he would be able to get more balance with the umbrella.

But even though it went a lot better, he still was unable to control it fully and Zetsubô was able to avoid the attack with ease. Emi yanked the large weapon backwards so the umbrella opened up. He then turned it and blocked an incoming attack from Zetsubô. The tackle from the beast was however a little too strong for him to manage it with only one hand, so he umbrella was pushed to the side and Zetsubô reached his master and had to stop to avoid hurting him too much. The hit punched the air out of him, but he jumped back and aimed the umbrella towards Zetsubô before he made a thrust with it.

The attack was slow but this time it was actually accurate enough to be able to hit the beast. But as the umbrella was about to hit Zetsubô the bulette bit the tip of the weapon and held it in place to start a power-struggle. Emi had to put his entire weight behind his left arm, and he still was loosing his grip of the umbrella. So he grabbed the handle with his right hand as well and was able to turn the struggle around until he finally pushed away the beast. Emi then closed the umbrella quickly before he aimed a stab towards Zetsubô's left front-leg. But he wasn't finished with that, before the attack would even hit, Emi pulled the umbrella back and made another three quick attacks towards Zetsubô before he jumped back and entered a defensive position.

Two of the attacks had hit his friend, but it was just to mark the hits and not actual damage, so Zetsubô was still unharmed. Since he was able to get a breather, Emi corrected his grip on the umbrella handle and was able to move the hand to a better place to get balanced. He spun the umbrella around next to him and then stopped with it straight out to the left. When Zetsubô then charged towards him Emi just made a sweeping motion to hold the beast off and then stabbed after him. The move was fairly useless as Zetsubô didn't hesitate from the attack and tackled Emi with just a little less force.

Emi stumbled backwards and then when he finally stopped he was laying in the mud. Laughter broke the silence and Zetsubô stopped and looked a little confused at his master before he started skipping around growling. Emi stood up and continued to walk on the road and was within short accompanied by his friend. He kept on swinging the umbrella around trying to get more use to the unusual weight. Whenever he saw a new sign heading towards fire country, he aimed the tip of the umbrella towards it during the whole time he was able to see it, just to get use to the weight for his aim.

The fire country was a big great country with several different kinds of terrain, but since Emi didn't know much about the diplomacy between rain and fire, he kept himself to the small roads leading through the woods. He was anxious to reach the chunin exam and he really wanted to make some final training before the event, but he didn't want to tire himself out or draw any attention to the duo. After several hours of walking through the woods, he finally reached the small village by the coast he had been going towards. There wasn't many boats present in the harbor, but those few that were appeared to be ready to leave at any given moment. The duo rushed the last couple of hundreds meter and stopped by the biggest ship's captain.

I'd like to head towards the maelstrom, you don't happen to be going there?

It was a long shot as the maelstrom probably didn't have much trade with the small fire village, but the man nodded and pointed at a small cabin on the front of the boat as he grunted something as an answer. Emi bowed down as a thanks and ran up on the boat with his friend and entered the cabin, now it wasn't long until he'd enter the exam.

The ride was calm but very long, and even though the captain said that they already had arrived in the correct country, the boat kept on moving around following the strong currents without the ability to leave. Emi wasn't really frustrated, but he was anxiously waiting for them to arrive to the chunin exam, so he ran back and forth between the front of the boat and the captains room. But as he ran across the deck, a hand suddenly appeared and dragged him inside one of the unused cabins. It was Kaiser with a new different attire holding a finger in front of his mouth to indicate that the young boy were to keep quiet. Emi nodded to show the man that he had understood. The man lead Emi to the room's bed and made him sit down before he silently whispered into his right ear.

Emi's eyes were wide opened as the man finished the sentence, but he was unable to say anything before Kaiser form a couple of handseals and then the world became dark around him. When he woke up, the sun had set and he had a soaring headache. He took a few stumbling steps towards the door before he noticed, he was no longer able to see his feet. He raised his hands and tried to look at them, but they were also invisible. The journey towards reaching his divine powers had taken a quick dash forward.

He walked back out on the boat and the ocean had started to get a little less calm. Waves splashed up on the boat which made water stream down the deck making his feet completely wet and revealing his position for anyone aware to his or her surroundings. His innate ability to manipulate the element of water made him a little interested in using the cold water around his ankles. He started by stopping a small amount of the water from running past him, it was easy and the chakra he had sent into the water to stop it appeared to be larger amount than he had expected as almost a cubic feet of water stopped. He did however not know what kind of technique he wanted to develop, so he had the water slowly rise into the air before he split it up into several small orbs of water. By moving the water in the air he had to use more chakra than he had wanted.

His eyes immediately wandered to the wall right next to him and he send on of the orbs to the bottom of it just to see how much chakra it would require for it to climb the wall. It was more effective, but it still required unnecessary much as the wall was inanimate and the distance was making some of the chakra vanish into the air and into the boat. So he lowered the remaining water orbs to the wooden deck and had it climb his own body. The chakra in his body attracted the water without him needing to spend any of it, and within a few seconds the water had risen to the same height as the orb on the wall had, but he had only used a small fraction of the chakra as before. Emi nodded a little to himself as he had learned an effective way of moving the water upwards. But what would he do with it next?

The boat suddenly went down, making Emi feel like he turned several times lighter. His confusion was brief as he noticed that the boat was shadowed by a large wave. It was carrying a large amount of small debris and as the wave was hanging over the boat, some of them started to fall down on him. They were so small that he knew that they would barely scratched him. But since he wanted to learn a new jutsu, he took the opportunity and had the small orbs move along his body to the place were the scraps would hit to dampen the blow. Since they fell so slowly at him, it wasn't hard to move the orbs, but Emi noticed that he would need to make it fast if he were to block things in a real fight. So he flattened the orbs out so they were forming a thin layer around the places instead.

It made it quite a lot faster, but he wasn't fully satisfied, so he added some extra chakra into the water until the amount almost had doubled. When a small twig crashed into his body and a small amount of water traveled to the spot without Emi even thinking about it, he realized for the first time how useful technique he really was developing. The twig was followed by a dozen other wooden scrap pieces, so Emi leaned forward and put his hand into the ankle-deep water and forced it up onto his body. When his entire body had a small amount of water covering it, he stood up and waited for the projectiles to come crushing down. The scraps pattered around him as a small amount of them hit him. But he didn't even feel a single one of them hitting him.

The wooden scraps were piling up next to him when the wave finally hit the boat. It wasn't devastating, but the boat was forced into a different direction. His shield had gone up to protect him against the blow, but it had been too strong, and he had been bruised by it. Emi rubbed his aching left arm as he looked on the water-layer that was still surrounding him. He would need to make a couple of seals to make the technique go smoother. So after he had taken a quick look around for more waves and disbanded the chakra in the water, he closed his eyes as he attempted to see the easiest steps to do it. It didn't take long before he had a basic concept on how he should do the seals, so after he had tried the handseals a couple of times some water was drawn up onto his body and formed the layer of water he had previously performed.

Emi didn't know how it had happened, but a huge wave had hit the boat before he had been able to take cover. The power of the wave had made him get knocked out. When he finally woke up, he was laying on a long golden beach with a forest not far away. His stomach was screaming after food, and he saw that there was some smoke rising above the trees. The fire was less than a mile away. He stumbled up unto his feet and took a couple of fast steps into the forest. He wasn't very used to move through thick leaf forest, but it appeared a lot friendlier than the swamps and mountains he used to travel through. His eyes wandered the forest in the search for any kind of dangers. The forest was full of different plants, bushes and trees, few of them looked even similar to each other.

When he found a little special one that he knew he had seen in one of the books in the library back in the academy. He sat down next to it and looked intensely at it as he tried to think back on his studies, to see if he could remember what qualities it had. The plant was 2 feet tall with leafs that was almost 7 inches long. Emi's left hand moved to one of the leafs and had his indexfinger stroke the under-side. He had never experienced the feeling of the leaf, but as he turned it around, he saw a very familiar look, the leaf was white underneath. His mind showed him a page he had seen back in the academy, a page from his biology book. On the top of the page the name was shown, it was a little blurry at first, but as he said the name agrimony out loud, it suddenly got clearer.

Even though he had learned the name of the flower, he still wasn't sure on what qualities it had. So he had his fingers wander up the flower until they reached the petals. They were spiky reaching for the sky with a glossy surface. But the petals didn't help him learn the details of the flower, so he went back to the leaves. He felt like they were the important part of the flower. So he kept on studying them and finally when he knew that he wouldn't be able to figure it out by just looking, he pulled off one of the leaves. He closed his eyes to observe the page again. Despite the fact that he wasn't the kind of person with a great memory or the interest in flowers, the page got clearer until he was able to remember some more smaller facts about it.

The flower wasn't very common, but the only place one could find it was in the forests. But as he was about to put the flower to the side, a fact hit him. The agrimony was supposed to only be blooming during the summer, so it was supposed to be dead. But as he looked around, the area appeared to be quite a lot warmer than the season indicated and there wasn't even a trace of snow around.

Emi gathered all of the leaves from the flower and put them into his pocket. He wanted to find some more before he attempted to do something with it. He walked for almost 15 minutes before he finally found a second version of the plant. That one was however not feeling as well as the previous one as it was sulking in the shadow of a great tree. After a quick scan of the plant, he decided that it would have to do. So he picked it carefully from the ground and put it into his pocket as well. As two flowers probably was enough for him to experiment on the flower, he walked over to a spot clear from grass and plants on which he placed some twigs and made a campfire. Something told him that the way to fix the herb into something useful was to cook it.

So he hung a stone with a small cavity in it over the fire before he filled the hole with water. As he waited for the water to start boiling, he took a few samples of the leaves and began to pulverize them. He did that as he didn't know in which form the flower would need to boil in. When the stone was warm enough for the water to boil, Emi put the powder from one of the leaves into the water. To make sure that the powder wouldn't stick together, Emi picked up a branch and started to whisk the liquid. When it had gotten a dark green color and the powder had been completely absorbed by the water, Emi poured it into a wooden cup he had carved while waiting. But it didn't look correct. Even though he didn't know how he was suppose to do it, he had an image in his head of the finished product.

So he smelled on the liquid before he took a small sip. None of them was like the proper potion would be like, so he poured the liquid out right next to himself and filled the stone with some more water after cleaning it. When the water was boiling again, Emi threw in some of the leaves he had just split in two. He didnät know how much of a difference that would do, but he hoped that he would be able to craft the correct potion. The water continued to boil for quite some time before the liquid started to stench. It smelled like old garbage and Emi felt nauseous from the smell. Since he wanted to know what the end result would be, he left the liquid to cook for another three minutes until he took it out from the fire. But he was disappointed as he saw that it was even further from the correct version than the previous one had been.

Effect: Utilizing a water source, one emits a large area with extremely high humidity; almost mist. Lowers the power of katon jutsus used within the area.
Special: Handseals
Drawback: A water source must be used, because one is adding water to the air around them. Effects all katon jutsu including ones own and their teammates. Only last five rounds before it must be reapplied. A fuuton attack just one rank higher can blow the Reiki Mizu completely away.
Description: Using a near by water source, one evaporates the liquid into a clear mist. This mist leaks into the surrounding air creating an area with extremely high moisture levels. If one would walk through it on a hot summer day, it would feel pleasant and refreshing. The point of the jutsu however is to protect one from katon based attacks. Any Katon based techniques created in or sent into the Reiki Mizu will automatically be lowered a rank. If one continues to learn the B rank version, katon attacks will be lowered two ranks. This is the limit of the jutsu however. Any more water in the surrounding air would be to difficult to handle, becoming too heavy and falling to the ground. The size of area in which the Reiki Mizu spans depends on the ninja's rank. At D rank it covers a 20 meter radius around the source of water. Every rank it increases by ten. S rank maxing at a 60 meter radius.

The remaining attempts with the rest of the leaves wasn't very successful, but he had learned some from it at least. But he jumped back onto his feet and started to walking off. The heat was unbelievable and he started to understand how the flowers were capable of surviving through the winter without dying. So as he walked through the jungle towards the fire, he made a couple of seals to get the layer of water surrounding him. But since his body was so warm, the water quickly got heated up and lost the function of cooling him down. So when a heatwave followed the wind and some of the leaves shriveled up and some even burst into flames. To avoid getting burned, Emi gathered the water in the air and made it into a mist. Because even though a mist got warm, it had still a cooling effect.

The mist was however very thick, so he was unable to keep a straight path through the forest. Flames started to spread through the closest trees, and Emi started to fear that he would accidentally walk into the flaming areas himself. So he tuned the mist down until he was capable of seeing through it. The gaze that meet him was unbelievable, the forest around him had almost completely started to burn and the smoke was rising fast. He would no longer be able to find the campfire, so he looked around himself to see if there was any safe points. When he saw the best route to take, he dashed through the nearest fire to reach it. The thin mist that was surrounding him was protecting him from most of the flames, but vanished within seconds.

As the mist disappeared the flames licked his flesh and made his eyes hurt. He had been a little too optimistic and he would get seriously damaged before he'd exit on the other side. So while he was running through the fire and his clothes started to burn, Emi reached out with his hands to the sides and dragged the remaining water in the area to surround him. It wasn't instantaneous and the water quickly evaporated, but it was enough for him to distinguish the flames on his clothes and to avoid getting too burned. When he got out on the other side, he threw himself to the ground to get rid of the last flames before he looked on the damage he had received. His feet had several big areas that had been severely burned, but he was still capable of walking on them. So he got up and took a couple of stumbling steps away from the flames.

Emi gathered some more water to his side and made the fog-like mist cool down him once again. His legs were hissing, but he couldn't feel anything but relieved. There were more flames that he would need to get through before he would be in the safe-zone. So he gathered as much water to his mist as much as he though he could handle. It was an impressive amount, but he was still insecure that it would suffice to get through the flames without evaporating.

I need to make some kind of seals for it, so I'll be able to make it even when I'm under distress.

He already knew the basics behind the technique, as he already had learned how to make the kirigakure-no-jutsu. But he wasn't used to decrease the effect of a jutsu, every time he learned a new one, he always increased the effect. So he performed the seals for the mist technique over and over until he remembered why he made every single seal in the technique. They were pretty straight forward, so he knew which two seals that he would need to remove for the mist to cover less area and to be easier to see through. But to know which ones he were to exchange them for was the hard part.

Emi had to go though most of the seals that he knew before he found those with the most similar effect to what he was trying to do. A burst of flame shot out from behidn him, so he hadn't the time to test the technique before rushing forward into the wall of flames. The seals were performed quickly but with steady hands and when they were all done, he send out a wave of chakra into the air. The effect was surprisingly good as several fires was put out by the cold water and all the heat stopped tormenting Emi's body. He also noticed that the water was renewing itself as it vaporized. So during the whole run through the fire, he was capable of maintaining his cold temperature and didn't get burned.

The other side was calm, and no flames had been capable of reaching that far. So he calmed down and walked slowly forward until the forest started to clear up. What had happened in the forest? He didn't know. But he looked on the surrounding vegetation to see how risky it would be to stay there and since it was rather cool and most of the trees appeared to burn very slowly, he expected himself to be in the safe zone. It was such a waste that everything in the forest burned down, all of the herbs and plants that could be used for things. So while he walked forward, Emi made sure to keep an eye out for anything he expected he could use. His eyes wandered the forest and he even stopped a couple of times to check the bark or leaves on the trees to see if they were the ones he thought they were.

(OOC: the only reason everyone hunts it is because it's THE herb to hunt for cash. No other flower gets even close in value to search for)



Zetsubô had been flushed up on the same beach as his master but a couple of hundred of feet to the north. He coughed out some saltwater as he stood up from the golden sand. The scent surrounding him was quite different in comparison to the moist and stinky swamp he was used to. The wind was blowing towards the ocean so the salty smell of water didn't disturb him from noticing the smells coming from the forest. The most compelling one was a strong scent of blood coming from a bush less than 100 feet away. So instead of immediately looking for his master, Zetsubô turned his head towards the blood and ran closer to it. As he started to get closer, he could sense that the blood most likely had come from a small rodent.

The bush surrounding the smell wasn't any of interest and it didn't even mask the blood, so he walked around it for two laps while trying to distinguish from what direction it would be easiest to enter the bush and snag the rodent. When he had successfully found and taken the small squirrel, Zetsubô filled his empty stomach with it and smelled the air for his master. It was a familiar smell for him as his master was the only human he had spend most of his days with. After he had walked around the area for a few minutes and a wind blew past him, he found his trace and ran into the direction. There were flames near his master, but he ignored it as they weren't a threat to him.

Emi had found a tree that he immediately recognized as the spanish nut tree. It wasn't any rare but it's value was quite good when the nuts were fresh. So he climbed the tree and picked all of the nuts he could see. He was careful not to damage any of them as he didn't want to ruin their value, but as he saw his friend running through the forest, he jumped down to hug the large beast. Zetsubô was however a little too thrilled, and smelled the weird things Emi had put in his pocket before running off into the woods to search for it himself. He knew the procedure since they had done it before. Emi smiled as he saw his friend so enthusiastic, but focused on searching for a way out.

WHen he had walked for a little more than an hour, a dark pink mist erupted from a couple of nearby flowers. Since he suspected that it might be poisonous he avoided it without caring too much about it. But when he had turned away his head, a shuriken came flying out from the gas. It wasn't very hard for him to avoid it, but for some reason it vanished as quickly as it appeared without making a mark on the tree it was supposed to hit. He did however not have the time to think too much about it as ten more shurikens were shot out of the mist. Instead of avoiding them as he had done to the first one, he drew a kunai and started to block the projectiles.

WHen he swung towards the first one to block it, the shuriken surprisingly just went through his kunai. Since he hadn't expected it, his arm was already moving towards the second one, but was unable to block that one too. The time between the first block and when he got hit was too short for him to react in any other way than to prepare to get hit. Blood was splattered all over the place as the shirukens hit him with a surprisingly force. They pierced his flesh and most of them even got stuck in his body. The pain was surreal and Emi had to jump back to analyze the situation. A couple of more shurikens flew after him as he jumped back behind a tree, but he was able to avoid all of them. His breathing was heavy and he had to bite his lip from the pain in his body, but when he was about to take out the shurikens from his body, there were none there.

His hands wandered over the wounds, but there was no metal left in the wounds, it was as if the weapons had never been there. He highly suspected that the pink minst was producing genjutsu shurikens, but it always had been his weak-spot, so he doubted his ability to notice it. And if it were genjutsu, who was the user? Since it was highly unlikely that a pink mist was capable of doing anything as advanced as mind affecting jutsus. As his wounds were starting to close and breath was calming down, he suddenly heard a few footsteps. The rhythm in the steps were steady yet quite silent. So Emi leaned past the edge of the tree to see who the person approaching was.

Despite that the area was poorly illuminated and the distance to the person was making his vision a little blurry, he still saw that the contours were his own. Eveery step that the individual took further towards him made him see more and more similar traits until the opponent finally walked out into the shine from the flames and revealed that it was looking exactly as he did. If there were an advanced ninja, it were possible that it was a physical change, but Emi squinted his eyes as he attempted to see any flaw to the design. If his opponent was a genjutsu user, Emi wanted to know that before the fight got too intense as that would be a little too hard for him to handle in comparison to just a copycat. So he followed the opponents movement and scanned it from the bottom of his shoes to the tope of his head. But if it was a genjutsu, it was very believable.

Emi took out a small amount of his shurikens and threw it towards the opponent, hoping that at least one of them were to hit so he could see if it went straight through, canceled the henge or just simply damaged the opponent. But the young boy moved at an impressive speed and dodged all of the attacks with ease before signing a couple of handseals. What surprised him was that the technique that was performed was a hidden technique restricted to the village of rain, the four raindrops technique. Some sweat broke out at his forehead when he realized that the opponent had the same abilities as himself. When the water-spears came rushing towards him, Emi focused hard on the first one coming towards him. If it was some kind of illusion, it was a really good one. But what else could it be? He couldn't just be fighting a clone of himself, could he ?

Emi jumped back and avoided the spears with quite a little effort, but his enemy had increased his speed and was quickly approaching him. To avoid close-range fighting with himself, as it was his strong suit, Emi drew one of his shurikens and hurled it towards the opponents thigh. He did however draw the shuriken too slow and the enemy was able to reach him and threw a punch at his upper body. The projectile flew into a bush scaring away a few small birds as Emi leaned backwards to dodge the attack. But it still glanced him and his upper chest was immediately numbed by the shock from the punch. A small cry of pain escaped the boy as he fell down to the ground. Emi bounced three times before he finally stopped, but as he turned around and jumped back on his feet, he pulled out yet another shuriken.

He was able to draw it quicker, but he would need to do it a lot faster if he were to fight with shurikens only. The opponent did however flinch a little when the new projectile which stopped it in its tracks and allowed Emi to move around one of the trees. He was unsure if the enemy had noticed which tree he had moved in behind, but he didn't want to wait to find out. So he moved his hands inside his cloak and with a familiar touch felt his way to the opening in the pocket and pushed his fingers inside. Since the weapons in it were painfully sharp, his hands automatically hesitated a little as they moved into the pocket and had a finger move into the holes in the center of the projectiles. When he felt the ordinary weight of the shurikens, he angled his hands slightly so the point of balance were over his hands before he moved the fingers out from the pockets.

As he held the shurikens in his hands and looked at them, he realized that he would have to stop hesitating and find the hole a lot quicker for him to draw the shurikens faster. He listened carefully and when he heard the familiar sound of footsteps just a few meters away from him, he turned around the tree and threw the shurikens towards the boy. The opponent turned into a pile of earth the second the projectiles hit it. Emi's eyes widened and he got a bad chill down his spine as a shadow moved on his right. To avoid getting hit by another monstrous punch, he shunshined backwards and saw the tree he had been standing next to fall down to the ground from the hit. While he still was in the air, he attempted to try drawing the shurikens faster again. So as he reached down into the pocket with his agile fingers, he prepared himself for some pain.

He was able to push his fingers inside the pocket a lot quicker with the drawback of getting long scratches on his fingers. His weapons were colored in his red blood as he found the holes and pulled them out. The action had been a lot faster, but it still wasn't flawless and he had to learn not to scratch himself on his own weapons. So when the weapons were hurled towards his enemy and were still in mid-air, he tried once more to draw some shurikens. When his hands were successfully in the pocket next to the projectiles while the hands were still unharmed, he was a little shocked and paused in his movement. He was glad that his opponent also appeared to be hesitating. So he pulled out the shurikens and threw the second wave of them towards the boy. Due to the hesitation, it still hadn't been flawless, but he felt confident it would work next time.

When he landed at a tree, he noticed that it had very familiar kind of bark, so his gaze automatically went to the crown of the tree. Among the leafs, a number of fruits could be seen, the ones from the spanish nut tree. He smiled as he jumped into the tree and started to harvest the nuts. They wasn't very uncommon, but it took so long time to get to the places in which they grew, so he thought that he'd use the opportunity as his opponent had jumped back and hid behind a few trees. After he had found, picked and placed all the nuts in his pockets, Emi had his vision wander the area. He looked for some kind of movement, and as he scouted the area, he also allowed himself to look for the characteristics of the spanish nut trees.

Meanwhile, his friend zetsubô had found something that was smelling similar to the round things his master have had in his pocket. So he ran towards the large green bush and smelled some in front of it. There were something else that smelled strongly from within the bush, so he got a little curious and pushed his head into the plant. It was hard for him to see anything in there, but as his head reached the center of the bush, he realized what the smell was. It was the same as the green-stinky-jumpers from the swamp. But despite that it was the same smell, it was a lot weaker and it wasn't as acrid stench as he was used to, but a more vague and compelling scent. His jaws clench at the destination he suspected the animal to be at.

His teeth just hit some leaves and the main body of the bush, and when he pulled out his head, a small yellow frog jumped out. Zetsubô smiled and swallowed it whole as it was in the air. It was time to find the pocket thing. So he smelled the air again and walked around the bush to get a better view. It was a few small nuts and they appeared to have been eaten on. So he started to move around the area with his nose in the air. The wind was blowing quite strong, so it was hard to find any specific scents other than to the east. So instead of fighting the wind, he turned to the east and attempted to figure out what kind of scents he could notice. They were quite mixed together, so he had to take quite some time and distinguish one at a time. But as he figured out most of them, he smiled and ran towards east. He had scented a vague smell of the nuts, and he intended to find out if the trace was any good.

Emi didn't know why the opponent just suddenly had vanished, but it gave him a lot more time to walk around in the forest searching for the spanish nut trees. He picked up on of his shurikens and played a little with it by throwing it carefree into the air. His aim was poor, and he regretted that he hadn't been practicing the art of throwing more in the academy. As he though back to the days of the academy, he remembered that there were some kind of special stance to throw projectiles in. It had been so long time since he had been standing in it, so his body was really unfamiliar with it. The arms and legs moved into the proper positions and he tried to get the proper balance, but it felt uncomfortable and he wasn't sure if it would help him getting any better accuracy.

But he grabbed the shuriken with a firm grip and turned to face a tree just a few feet away. It was too easy target, so he focused on a dark spot underneath one of the branches and started aiming. He knew that his poor sense of aiming would make him hit a few inches under the target, so he moved up his aiming and threw. Even with his adjustment, the shuriken hit the tree slightly under the target. Emi shrugged his shoulders and picked up another shuriken. He hadn't expected himself to have made a perfect throw on the first attempt. So he adjusted his pose a little and made his feet a little further apart before he tried again. This time he hit just over the target, which was surprising as he had aimed pretty much at the same spot as he hit. Confidence hit him and he started to pick up and throw more shurikens in a rapid stream of flying projectiles.

When he had thrown all of his remaining shurikens, he walked over to the tree and put the weapons back into his pockets. The training had been surprisingly successful, his body had remembered the old stance quicker than expected. So when he had taken up all of the weapons, he jumped around between the trees and shot at different targets that he found on his way and whenever his aim was a little too much off, he would stop and try again. Emi noticed that the most difficult position was when he had to throw in a sharp right angle, since the arm hadn't really gained the momentum to hurl the weapon with enough force. After a short while when he had taken a break, he saw yet another spanish nut tree. So he walked over to it and started to gather its juicy nuts.

The wind was calming down, so the scents that were traveling with it got fainter until most of them disappeared. It was a shame as the scent of the small nuts his master had shown him disappeared as well. So Zetsubô began to growl, he wasn't happy that the trail was gone, so he had to go around the area to see if he was able to catch a new trail. It wasn't easy as the forest was so populated with small animals which gave away such strong odors that any weak scent was camouflaged by them. So when he had searched the same area for more than an hour, Zetsubô snorted and walked away from the thickest parts of the forest. His plan was to go to a less populated area to see if it smelled less of rodents and other weird animals that just made him hungry.

When the scents surrounding him was less sharp, he started to feel the different kind of trees and bushes. The smell of air, earth and water. Even though he knew that he wasn't very far from the ocean, he still recognized the smell of it and shivered a little from the horror of it. He was similar to sharks, but he really preferred the dry land. If for nothing else, the land had more food, was warmer and had a lot of more interesting smells. As he walked around a small dead tree, he noticed that there was a similarity to the tree and the one with nuts. Curious on why that was when he saw some distinct differences, he walked over to it and smelled the bark. Since he hadn't smelled the bark of the other tree, he didn't know how it was suppose to smell, but this one wasn't even close to something that ought to have such nuts.
