~Flashback~
Surome and Katsu trudged down the frozen tundra, just below the icy mountain. They were near the outskirts of Yukigakure, the purpose was for Katsu's training. The boy lugged his usual two bags that Surome forced him to carry, while she carried a single and light bag. "What are we learning today, Surome-Sama?!" Katsu asked with pep, his head turned to the side to face his mentor. "Just be patient.. it has to do with ice, though." She closed her eyes and spoke, right finger ascended. Ice is so hard.. I hate learning this stuff! The young Kaishin internally whined, the two kept walking on. Surome rubbed her chin, how would she teach him such a complicated technique? In truth, "Flying Water Needles of Death" required a multitude of jutsus combined as well as chakra. Which depended on your current situation. Could Katsu learn to form five hundred needles in one go? Ah.. we'll see. She thought to herself as they walked on, icicles formed on rocky ridges above them. Snow plopped down onto Katsu's head and the boy raised his right fist in the air, to shake it in anger. He'll be fine.. Just fine. Surome reassured herself and then would go on to brief Katsu.
"So, Katsu-Kun! We're learning an ice technique today. You'll need to turn water into ice needles. Think you can do it?" She bent over to pat the boy's head. "I guess.. where's the water at?" Katsu questioned as Surome pulled a plastic bottle from her bag. She untwisted the bottle cap and threw the plastic upwards, the water bottle soared through the cold air. Some liquid dripped out as Surome quickly weaved hand seals, then she held a tiger sign. "Now.. Katsu. You mold the water into a thin shape.. and then freeze it." The water droplets in the air began to shake. Each of them got skinnier and skinnier until they looked like senbon. "Ooohh, that's so cool! How do you do that?" Katsu asked with joy, his arms flailed up. The water had shook again and then froze over. Surome still held her tiger seal as the water turned into ice. With the freeze, it now looked like a solid senbon. The woman directed the needles to point to the rocks, about ten were made from the small amount of water.
"Release the seal after you position the needles to your liking, Katsu." She said as she continued to aim the needles perfectly to the rocks. Her tiger seal still held up, Katsu nodded and watched some more. The woman looked towards Katsu and began to explain the jutsu to him, in depth. "First, we either create water or use a source. The water needs to be established in the air. You then need to perform your seals when everything is in order." She released her tiger hand seal and the ten needles flew into the rocks. They dug into the rocks a bit, but not deep enough. "You can harden the needles with extra chakra, go it?" Surome poked Katsu, he seemed to be drifting off. When the boy came back to attention Surome handed him the water bottle, Katsu extended his right hand and grasped the plastic. "Show me what you can do.. kiddo. We have to do five hundred today." She said, then walked off to sit on the rocks.
Five hundred.. Surome-Sama is insane! Katsu nervously thought to himself, he looked down at the bottle of water. Time to make it happen, hm. He placed the bottle in his mouth and looked up, the boy's hands came together. The slipped over one another to cascade through the seals, he tried his best to do them quick. But in the end, he messed up and had to restart. The boy took it at a medium pace and formed his hand seals, he ended in the tiger. He felt chakra surge through himself, the ice affinity rushed up his system. He took the reigns and flicked his head upwards. The water bottle flew upwards and drops of liquid dripped out. Katsu's teeth grit as he took control of the water, it began to bubble up in the sky. His eyes narrowed, the boy manipulated the little drops of water with his chakra. He molded the icy nature and sent it forth, for the water. The little drops of water began to crackle and whatnot.
"You're getting there, Katsu-Kun! Keep going.. make me proud!" Surome shouted, she waved her hand at the boy. His cheeks flushed red, for some odd reason. Katsu smiled and turned back to the water droplets. He continued to send the icy chakra forward in hopes to freeze over the droplets.
