Entering the realm of the enemy

A

loud bang was heard as his creations went through the door leading into the house. The ticking was immediately heightened and Emi prepared to meet a wave of flames from the possible explosion. His arms were slowly lowered as he realized they were in no threat, thus far. Emi turned around, looked on his teammates, nodded to them and then walked in. The darkness engulfed him, something he wasn't accustomed to. Surprised by the sudden lack of vision made him stumble in a few steps before he had recovered his balance. What had happened? His right arm flew up as to grab something in front of him but was met by the void that was hidden within the darkness. Emi knew that the light reaching in from the door would be enough for him to see perfectly fine in there, so he began to get suspicious of the abnormality. Was the enemy in the room? There were only one way to figure it out. His steps became a little more confident as he got determined to find his foe. Since the structure didn't appear to be as stable as he had hoped, Emi and his birds walked close to the right side of the stairs, hoping that it would allow more pressure on the whole structure before crumbling. When he heard his huge friends first claws hit the stairs, Emi turned around and held his hand up as a sign for him to stop.

Wait

Emi said in a loud whisper to his friend. It still echoed a little and Zetsubô immediately stopped. He had grown tired of getting told to stop all the time, so he roared at his master before walking out. The time had come for him to do something HE wanted to do. His tail hit the debris from the door on his way out, but otherwise there were no more sounds from the large beast. Emi sighed as he thought of all the troubles he would have to make it up with his friend before he turned back his head and headed down to the platform. Before he walked out on it, he send out his first bird to scout in the darkness. It was foolish to continue too far completely blind.

He whispered before he continued his walk. The ticking sound intrigued him, what was it coming from and why hadn't he met any hostile robots or engineers yet? There were definitely something fishy about the whole event.

(OOC: in my defense, my beast Zetsubô was on the bottom of the building and wouldn't move unless something made him move. So when ryo wrote that we got an approx time from Zetsubô smelling the dagger, I had to assume that we had gone down to him, since he wouldn't come up to us. Which means ... we were outside in the rain and mud, found some tracks, which we followed to a door, leading into a staircase.)

Mikutashi steadily followed behind Emi and moved at his command. The Genin, once they entered the room wherein the ticking noise originated, would notice that the darkness was unnatural. He had been somewhat proficent in the illusion arts and knew much about the perceptions involving darkness and shadows. With the proper set of hand seals, the boy pushed chakra through his body in an effort to dispel the illusion; "Kai!" he spat, and should the darkness be seen through with clarity, then he would seek out the source of the sound. 

If Emi and Jager were not able to see through the illusion had Mikutashi succeeded in the former endeavor, then he would cast the Genjutsu Kai technique on both of the Hoshigaki shinobi, thus enabling them to see what he himself could.

Description: The user needs to stop the flow of chakra in their body, and then apply an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the caster's chakra; this is called GenJutsu Kai (Dispel GenJutsu). This can also be done by an unaffected characters by applying a sudden surge of chakra into the affected person. The unaffected character must know GenJutsu Kai (Dispel GenJutsu) in order to perform it on an affected person. The affected getting out of a GenJutsu is dependent on the knowledge of the unaffected. Depending on the rank the user knows depends on the amount of extra points they gain on their Save.

Emi’s bird flew down into the shaft, scouting the area and spotting a group of figures hidden within the darkness. Four armed mercenaries awaited at the bottom of the stairs. However, before the bird could return to its master, a single kunai would shoot out of the darkness and strike the bird in the chest, causing it to tumble down into the darkness. However, as Miku performed the dispel genjutsu technique and the chakra lore; both would dispel the genjutsu as well as identify the jutsu as being a glamour perception genjutsu by the name of Age of the moon. (sorry rusty on skill checks).

Once the darkness lifted, all four men would rush up the staircase and charge at the pair of you. Each mercenary would have knowledge in Tensora however only two were masters. Little did Emi and his comrade know of that, the nearest members whom had reached the top of the staircase would lunge forward at the Chuunin and Genin, striking as they did so.

Description: Affects anyone in the area of distance. The user is able to perform this technique at a distance of 120 meters plus 60 meters per class level. The duration of this technique lasts for 50 minutes per class level. This technique may be disbelieved once interacted with. A technique that affects the sight within the area of distance, turning the light into day. A dark illusory cloud appears over the sun making the area seem like night time as if a strong eclipse blotted out the sun.

Effect: The user lunges forward and strikes at the same time.

Drawback: If the user misses it leaves them open for a counter strike.
Description: The user combines Tensora Walking, Heaven Ready Stance, and Heaven Basic Strikes for a single deadly strike. The user raises the sword above their head. User then lunges forward with the right foot while bringing the left food behind and slash quickly. If a stab, user must learn to pull the sword back as soon as the stab makes contact. The user should step back a few paces afterwards to avoid any harsh counterattacks and to remove the sword from the opponent.
Limit: Must learn from a Master of Tensora (天空 Heavenly Sky), Must know Heaven: Basic Strikes

The enemies has emerged

arkness was something that most humans feared, the fact that one was alone in a wast space of quietness and unknown terrors. But Emi had always seen the darkness as his future, the village didn't need someone stand as the leading role, a hero over the people, it needed a bloody murderer in the dark, ready to slay those holding the village back. He did however fear a little that it was no ordinary darkness, because his mind was still weak and he didn't really understand how people manipulated brains using chakra. So to avoid risking brain damage, Emi's movements were quite slow until the darkness suddenly disappeared. The surroundings were a little hazy at first but he still saw his companion standing next to him, still holding a seal to release the genjutsu. Emi breathed out in relief and looked around to see what the room really looked like.

He said to the other boy right before he noticed that his birds had lost one of its members. A pile of dirt was falling down to the ground with a mere kunai attached to it. Had the opponent killed one of the birds with a kunai? Not even my strongest attacks can do that. He thought a little worried as he saw the opponents charging at them. That kind of damage with kunais, and they still prefer close-combat? Emi realized what kind of power he really could be facing, those guys could be the assassins after all, since he couldnt even detect their chakras. The young boy's arm didn't hesitate as the men charged at him, it drew the large umbrella and yanked it open, ready to defend.

Stay behind me, this will get rough.

The umbrella was really big as it was open it covered an area as large as a towershield, which covered most of the young boy. His right foot slipped backwards before stopping about half a meter back while his upper body changed into a more defensive pose. He hadn't practiced using his shield against several strong opponents before, so it would be a test of his skills. The middle of shield was aimed towards the person in the front and the plan was to block the attack and push the man in front of the others. He was strong, but his mind prepared for yet another scenario, to block the man and just keep him away as the shield would be used to block the remaining attacks as well. He didn't want to loose any ground as he had a companion with him and the fight would risk to become messy if he did, so he took a deep breath and prepared for the impact.

The birds did however not act as defensively. They split up into two groups, a group with three birds in it that would fly above the opponents, avoiding the swords, before turning around to attack the opponents flanks. While the two remaining would fly in front of their master and try to tackle the opponents to make them loose some, or all of their momentum. When the birds had done what they were suppose to, they would bite and claw the best they could with a great ferocity.

My birds can take A+C amount of damage before being destroyed, my sensoring ability is 200 meter up to A ranked targets and a few other goodies can be found in my first post. Here's what I used in this post that is not a passive or already active ability.

Kuma Tsume no Shisei (Bear Claw Stance)

Effect: Primary stance in the Kumotate; precursor to further techniques.

Description: With the shield hooked to their dominant arm, the user will stand with their feet precisely shoulder-length apart, their body squared to the enemy. Their arm must be bent at the elbow at a rough right angle, placing the shield between them and the opponent. From this fortified stance all manner of defensive techniques can be used.

Kuma Tsume - Hogo (Bear Claw - Block)
Rank: [“D”, “C”, “B”], “A”, “S”
Skill: Taijutsu
Effect: Allows the user to effectively block corresponding ranks of attacks with their shield.
Special: Effective while in fully-formed Bear Claw Stance.
Drawback: Shields used with this technique will still be damaged according to item breaking laws if the attack being defended is higher than the user’s knowledge of this technique. Less effective against non-impact based Ninjutsu. May be bypassed by all-encompassing area-of-effect attacks.
Description: With training and raw physical strength the user learns the basic principle of how to block attacks with their shield. Standing steadfast, the user will simply place their shield between themselves and the threat, nullifying it with forward fortification and, if executed properly, stopping the attack’s power. The user is only able to remain on their feet and have their shield undamaged by attacks of equal or lower rank to the rank of this technique the user possesses.
Limit: “Bear Claw Stance”.

Kuma Tsume – Surudoi Buki ga Funsui (Bear Claw – Sharp Weapon Shattering)
Rank: [“D”, “C”], “B”, “A”, “S”
Skill: Taijutsu
Effect: Allows the user to damage or break sharp weapons that they block.
Special: Effective while in fully-formed Bear Claw Stance.
Drawback: Doesn’t work as effectively against high-rank items. Does not work against blunt items.
Description: With practice in the matter, the user becomes more proficient in defending themselves against sharp weapons such as swords, knives, spears etc. in the sense that they are able to actually break the weapons as they impact with the user’s shield. When the user is slashed or stabbed at with a sharp weapon the user will not back down from it but instead take it on, standing their ground as the attack hits and subsequently breaking or damaging the weapon. However this technique can only break or damage weapons of equal or lower rank than the rank of this technique the user knows. “D”-rank weapons can be broken with one contact, however “C” and “B”-rank require two ranks to break; “A” and “S”-ranks require three. For every rank of this technique the user knows higher than the rank of the item being defended against, the required hits till the item reaches breaking point is reduced by one to a minimum of one.
Limit: “Bear Claw Stance”, “Bear Claw – Block” of corresponding rank.

Able to spy out the four men before either of the Hoshigaki could, Mikutashi began to preform hand seals the moment that they had lunged. Emi moved to the forefront, thus leaving Mikutashi behind the umbrella wielding shark-ninja as chakra continued to amass within his gullet. Finding an opening in the defense of his comrade, Miku spat out a vicious arrow of wind at one attacker, looking to impale the man with a Kaze Ya. Emi's earthen creations began to distract the men with aerial movements, thus leaving the unexposed Mikutashi to continue his onslaught from behind the strong guarding Hoshigaki.

Due to the tight enclosure that they had found themselves in, the Genin opted for a lesser Fire Element technique than the Goukakyuu. With his kata already performed as he pulled in a deep breath, Mikutashi allowed chakra to mingle with his innate element quickly before spewing a small gout of flame out towards his attackers. They were physical men; Mikutashi was spiritually aggressive. The Inferno that pushed past Emi with no signs of friendly back fire would prove to be potent in this enclosure. Whatever amount of the men who had cast the dark Genjutsu on the trio of Amegakure ninja would become doused in lurid flame. One of them, had he even managed to survive or avoid the initial Wind Arrow, would be doubly injured had he not already succumbed to a fatal injury from the first attack from Mikutashi.

Here, he managed to control the flames before they controlled him. While he was always quick on the draw, he had to make sure that at least one of the men survived his brazen attack. The Inferno would end before life threatening damage could be dealt to any of the four; it was used moreso as an attack to hinder than to decimate..

Kaze Ya no Jutsu (Wind Arrow Technique) 
Rank: "D"
Skill: NinJutsu
Effect: User is capable of breathing inwards and exerting outwards a large like arrow to pierce into the opponent's body.
Special: User takes in a deep breathe filling their lungs with air.
Drawback: Only one may be created at a time.
Description: The user molds chakra and breathes in. He or she then blows out and an arrow made of wind is shot from the user’s mouth. This arrow may be blocked as it is just a large consumption of wind, however it can not be deflected away. This means that the object must be large in size enough to defend from one against the wind. The size of the arrow is the size of the opponent's mouth with the length of three feet as it can travel up to the distance of twenty meters. This technique is used for short range to steer an opponent away from the user.
Limit: Must have the Wind Release

Fire Style: Inferno Technique 
Rank: D
Skill: Ninjutsu
Effect: Shoots small gout of flame towards the opponent.
Special: Ox, Monkey, Rabbit, Tiger
Drawback: Requires the user to exhale and keep their dominant hand cupped over their mouths. Once the user is out of breath or moves their hand, the technique falls.
Description: The user performs the handseals, energizing their hand and their esophagus with chakra. The user then cups their hand over their lips and exhales. The oxygen being expelled from the lungs combusts upon reaching the chakra from the hand, and the user blows it out a maximum of ten feet away. This is different from the Goukakyou no Jutsu in the fact that this comes out as a stream and not a fireball, and also different from the fact that once the user stops breathing out or moves their hand, the technique ends.
Limit: Fire Release

The kunai that had struck the bird merely gave it a small fright. It had fallen from the air for at least two seconds before regaining its flying momentum and returning to aid their master in battle. (Sorry Emi, I didn’t read the post properly. The bird is still there if you need it) the block made by the chuunin was enough to bend the swords jutting forward in their attempt to stab, while the birds had made easy prey of two of the four men, knocking them off the platform they had been scrambling up.

Mikutashi’s Kaze Ya technique slipped through Emi’s defence easily and had impaled the man hanging at the back straight through the chest. He stumbled a few times before toppling over the stair’s railing and falling to his death. This left only one more man: the guy with the bent sword. But at the onslaught of the genin’s fire jutsu, flames latched onto his clothing before engulfing the man in flames. He slipped on the staircase and rolled the rest of the way down to the platform where the remaining men were laying.

Such an easy kill. Something that the shinobi would describe as being a total waste of time. However, should Emi and co continue their way down the stairs, the ticking noise continued to run, echoing through the shaft just below the platform. However, should the bodies be inspected, each man had a piece of a note in their pockets. The white parchment sticking out of the sides of the three men. The fourths would be nothing more than a pile of ashes thanks to Miku’s Katon technique.

Should the team look over the notes, the parchment would reveal a picture of half a woman, but Emi would be able to recognise the woman being the daughter of the first Amekage, young and in her prime. This suggests that she was a master of soulcastor. This new piece of information would prove handy, yet before either of you could say, the ticking sound suddenly stopped. A bright light suddenly filled the bottom of the shaft, revealing that a bomb was about to go off. Would the team have enough time to escape the building before it blew?

s the area in front front of his shield was cleared from enemies and the birds had began to fly down to the broken and most likely dead men, Emi relaxed his shoulders and lowered the massive umbrella. He had held his breath during the whole encounter, so as he looked down on the massacre he slowly breathed out. The fight hadn't even been enough to trigger his bloodlust. Quite disappointed yet relieved his comrade hadn't been hurt he started to walk down through the stairs. His steps echoed through the room and Emi used the time until he reached the men to scan the remaining of the building. Was his mind still clouded? He was relying a little too much on his senses, which he a few seconds earlier had learned wasn't anything he could allow himself to do while genjutsu user were still a thing. His feet trampled over the limbs of the men as he looked for any lifesigns on them. He hadn't been trained in the art, but all of them seemed to have quite revealing cause of deaths, so he leaned forward and began to search them. It would've been preferred if at least one of the men had survive as Emi then would've "question" him for information, but as he found the images, he knew that their lead still was not lost. The first piece of the image was nothing but just some of the womans clothing, so it didn't help him that much, but as he looked on the second one, he saw a face he recognized clearly.

He had studied the amekages, the known information about them at least, and what kind of families they had. The girl that was on the notes were also on one of the front pages he had read during the academy. The daughter of an Amekage, but it had been several years and the family members hadnt been that interesting to him, so he didn't know which Amekage had spawned the girl. She did however not look very unfamiliar, so she hadn't aged much, or at all since he'd seen her before. But before he had been capable of revealing the girls identity, a bright light shone up the entire shaft as the ticking died out. It was a trap. Emi recognized the light as the same one from explosion tags, so his first instinct was to cover himself up with the shield again to brace himself for the explosion. But his inner mind revealed a chakra on the top of the stairs he had not been prepared to notice. His friend had heard the alarms from the inside and had gotten curious on what was happening, so he had walked back and looked in. Panic spread through Emi as his thoughts showed him what would happen to his friend if he didn't protect him. So Emi quickly dashed up to his friend while attempting to pick up the genin on the way. It put some strain on his body and with the added weight it was hard to move at the his maximum despite his massive strength. He had to use 4 shunshins in a row to reach the top of the stairs, and as he did Emi just released the genin and turned around with the umbrella held high. The momentum would most likely have the genin fly through the air, but he would fly into the safety of the rain outside the building.

Emi saw in his friends eyes that the huge beast had no clue on what was happening, something that made him wanting to laugh. How many times would he have to save his friend from things? maybe it was thrilling for him to do it? He didn't know, but the beast was the only thing in the world that actually meant something to him. The only light in the dusky world of blood and corruption. His body moved on its own as it entered the bear stance using the umbrella and braced himself for the impact. But before the impact hit him, he remembered... no, Zetsubô wasn't the only light.... Emi's mouth revealed a small smile of true happiness as the image of a young girl entered his mind. Her too.

Jäger had been unable to keep up with the pace of the others; and had needed to depart the scene, his ire raised at his inability to keep up with the younger Hoshigaki making him feel disappointed in himself. Training was needed before he could impress himself upon the village.

Emi’s attempt at getting Miku out of the building had proved successful. Once the genin had flown out of the building from the explosion, the effects of the explosion would quickly slam into the platform Emi stood upon. Due to the metal not having been used for quite some time, the structure of the platform would crack and break away. With the additional weight of both Emi and the bodies of the deceased, the chuunin will have little time to remove himself from the area.

The bodies below, sprawled across the breaking staircase would disintegrate into dust once the flames from the explosion reached the area. The fumes reached the Chuunin’s shield shortly after. Should Emi not remove himself from the platform in time, the structure would give way and pull the small child into the shaft and into the devouring flames.

etsubo was the first one to notice that the platform they stood on was trembeling, so he immediately backed out to the firm ground while dragging out his master to safety. Emi was however still fully focused on guarding themselves from the explosion.

The area grows quiet

I

t was in the nick of time that the large beast managed to get his master out in the open and even though Emi hit the wall with his left shoulder, they were safe. The flames that was spat out from the doorway licked the surface of the umbrella and tasted some of the flammable objects behind it. The flames touching Emi and Zetsubô were just mere sparks, bur the heatwave was all the more frightening as it pained him greatly. When the brief moment of the explosion was over and the cooling rain was trying to offer some comfort on the stinging skin, the building began to tremble and large chunks of debris fell down towards them. Emi offered a hand to the genin a few feet away and then immediately ran away towards the tower. It was time to learn what the girl actually had to do with the attempted assassination.

After being rescued by the Chunin of Amegakure, Mikutashi then proceeded to follow the Hoshigaki back towards the tower. He huffed at the mission that they'd been sent on. Who knew where Mitsukai had been; who knew why another person had tried to impersonate her...
