I'll actually be posting a complaint here for the first time in almost 3 years, and it's regarding masterworked items. Do not continue reading if you think this might make you upset or if you're judgemental about my feelings. This isn't written in hate, just that I don't think this is made justice.
Since it has come out, I know about one item being created by an artisan, the glove Draven gave to ayame, which was the first level of masterworked.
I've however always liked special items with names, special attributes and abilities, they are however almost only currently possible for sword users to get. So I've had this idea for a quite long time to make some kind of hammer or axe that would be special, that had a force that was unique to itself and some legendary blades, which is basically what artisans are suppose to create if they put the time to actually do so. I've now trained 300-400 TP into the art of creating weapons without having anything to show for it but the techniques and the total amount of TP. But since few if anyone else has the techniques, it makes my character a little special and gives me the opportunity to make good items.....
However, in the thanksgiving event, a lot of people received free masterworked swords and now even more people will get the second level of masterworked items from the christmas event.
Sure, I do get why its a gift. It's easy to make and people appretiate it. But why even bother to get into artisan? To create a sword which now most of the community has, the user would need to learn a lot of TP into the skills and techs to make it go faster, then another 100 + TP worth of rp to craft the second level item. This means that there is a lot of weapons without names, background or actual creator out there that will have a great significance in the future of the sight while the artisans will have to focus on creating masterworked secondary items, since it takes a lot less time, and is actually hard to gets ones hands on.
To be able to make masterworked items of 2nd or 3rd degree is about as much dedication as getting 2 ATI's, even though the ATI's are DE and can fail, this should still reflect the rarity of the weapons, and not be handed out to everyone for partipating in an easy event.
This is not a complaint on the event itself, it is very fun and creative. It's just that I feel sad about the masterworked items loosing all of their uniqueness and it feels like it has been a wasted way of training on the only free time I've been able to put on the forum, since I've had to hold back on my muse so I could write another 20´+ posts to get a item, so the training was hard and very boring, and now I can just watch everyone else use items just as good, as shiny and with no soul put into them whatsoever.
