Gingerbread Man

Greetings Everyone and welcome to the 2014 Advent Calender. Today is December 9th, which means Day 9 of the Advent Calender and the theme for today (If you couldn't see the big letters above) Is Gingerbread Man! Yes, the crunchy cookie designed with frosting, candies, gumdrops, and other delectable sweets. Some say that if you decorate them just right, they even come to life! Well in this event, I want you to make them come to life using art! Any form of art will do! Stories, Poetry, Songs, Drawing, Painting, Actually baking and decorating one. Whatever form of art works best for you is fine by me! Can you create a wonderful gingerbread themed piece for me?

Here are the rules for this event!

[li]This is a one part event! 1) In some sort of artistic form, do something involving a Gingerbread man!
[/li][li]Any artistic form will do. Stories, Poetry, Songs, Baking, Painting, Drawing, Acting, Dancing... WHATEVER! If it's an art form, and it has something to do with Gingerbread Men, then it's fine by me![/li][li]I'm very lenient with art forms. But if I don't think what you've done is considered Art, I will tell you. If you still think it is, then I will confer with others to determine. If this causes the time to run out, an extension will be given before voting begins.
[/li][li]This is a Submission Event! This means that all entries into this event are to be PMed to Gift Giver. The thread will be locked until the voting phase begins.
[/li][li]This is a TWO DAY EVENT! That means that 48 hours from the time of posting, this event can be closed. Will it be closed immediately after that point? Nope! The thread isn't closed until I say that it is. So if I haven't posted saying it's closed, you can submit! However, each day is for something separate. The first day is for submissions, the second day is for voting. So submissions will only be accepted in the first 24 hours.

Now for the fun part... The prize! The prize for Day 9's event is... a mystery! Yep, keeping this one hidden (Most will be like this). However, I will say there is a First, Second, and Third place prize here. The voting is what will determine that. There will also be a participation prize just for submitting. And, as with all events, a chance to win one of five grand prize packages at the end of the event. Plus, remember that you have to participate in all 24 events to receive a special prize package at the end! So go out there, use those artistic minds, and make something dealing with Gingerbread Men!

I received quite a few entries into this, and now it's time for Voting to begin on the Gingerbread Man Artistic Contest! As usual, there is a first, second, and third place prize for this. And You are allowed to vote for three entries. After 24 hours, the voting will end!

GM 1

Baked little feet pitter-patter
A baker's child munches with glee
It seems you CAN catch the Gingerbread Man

GM 2

Start with the delicate flour,
Add in sugar to give it power.
Bake in the oven heated at three hundred,
Don't open to fast, he might run away at your dread.
Add on the colorful buttons,
Eat your fill with with gingerbread sins.

GM 3

I build my gingerbread house, every winter or so; when spirits are high and temperatures are low.

Each gingerbread piece comes out of the oven, glued together with frosting; assembled piece by piece, a completed puzzle worthy of boasting.

I then add the furnishings, using candy... or as we call them sweets; in order to complete the wintry treat.

What house is a home but without a resident? I realize my mistake and make one in the oven.

Once done I pull him out of the fiery furnace, I then go to decorating the ginger-man; his eyes and smile and bowtie, all brightly showing.

I place him next to the house, this was much easier than it seemed. I could not bake so I wrote some poetry!

Though I'm bad at both so... please go easy.

GM 4

It t'was a night before another night, I suppose, because most nights are. But, it was neither the day nor the eve of any notable holiday, the day the Gingerbread men went to war.

It was an odd notion, really, that of the Gingerbread man war, when it is looked at from the perspective of a human being, but it is no strange thing when cosnidered from the point of the Gingebread men who risked their lives for it, for, from that view, it was truly an inevitable occurence. The bastions of cake and Gingerbread were thrown up quickly, the chocolate bars were stockpiled in neat arrays, and the frosting was ready for any repairs that might be necessary.

But, just like many of the wars that are absent from mankinds great history, only one side was ever aware of the Gingerbread war. the Gingerbread men snuck slowly from their hiding spots, and went about, bringing havoc to all those who were not of their superior race, bringing revenge for all those who had fallen due to their unjust treatment. But, within moments, each and ever Gingerbread man ran with fear, as a beast of neither race went about consuming them. Thus ended Gingebread man [that short-lived war.

GM 5

The Hunt...

I wait with bated breath, counting down the minutes till midnight. My eyes have grown accustomed to the darkness. The silence is unnerving, no one is awake in the house, but me. I tighten my grip around my weapon.

My blanket lays abandoned besides me, its warmth insufficient on a cold winter night as this. Yet it is for the best. If I were to succumb to the sweet release my covers had to offer then all my efforts would be in vain. It was almost time...

Tick...tock...tick...DONG!

Twelve times it chimed, but my parents lay asleep, having gotten used to the sounds of the grandfather clock. They would get in the way anyways, this mission was all his. Already he could hear them . . . their feet scraping as they made their way out the open kitchen door. He was the one who had left it open, of course they would come this way.

As the smell of gingerbread wafted over to him, he waited, his body shiver in anticipation. Liquid courage rushing through his veins as his finger tightened around the trigger. It was too late to back out now, do or die time. Only a bit more and they would fall right into his trap...

The scraping stopped . . .

They hadn't fallen for it. Did they know he was here, hiding behind this sofa? It was silent, they were standing there, waiting for something. It was too much for him, he needed to get this over with quick. But he couldn't attack head on, they might be expecting that. He needed a plan...

A shape appeared from behind the sofa and not a second after was it skewered by spears, spiraled red and white. The blanket fell to the cold floor, impaled by candy cane.

From the other side he sprung, brandishing the weapon at the group of gingerbread men, pressing down hard on the trigger of the water gun. Yet the clear, white liquid that was emitted from the nozzle was not water . . .

If they had voices, they'd surely be screaming now. As each man was hit with a stream of milk he would yield to the sogginess, crumbling away in agony. None was left alive, those that fled were shot down in the back. No mercy could be afforded for these murderous treats. Soon there was a pool of white on the carpet, upon which floated the brown corpses of his defeated foe.

Yet something felt amiss, as he dismissed his now empty weapon and got to work at cleaning up the evidence. He counted each defeated foe as he dropped them in the bucket, stopping in his tracks after he realized that there were one too few. One was still around, his hand reached for his squirt gun, remembering a second too late that it was devoid of ammo. And then it hit him...

The purple gumball collided with the side of his face, releasing its sticky juices and irritating him to no end. Another caught the back of his arm, which he had raised to protect himself. As the projectiles fell, one after another he tried to come up with some sort of strategem. His mind went back to the trap he had set, the bucket of milk attached to a rope which he would pull and finish off the enemy with one fell swoop.

However reaching the bucket was another task, the juices were far too sticky for his liking, causing him to struggle. The adhesive properties of the gumballs restricting his body, far too much. Nevertheless he pushed on, pushed on for tomorrow when he had free reign to tear away the wrapping paper from his presents, without worrying about being snuffed out in his sleep. His hand reached the bucket . . .

As he swung, the milk spread in a wide arc, covering most of the furniture and causing the entire room to smell of dairy. Yet his opponent had been reduced to a squishy mess, one not fit to scrape off of ones shoe. In this moment of triumph, the lad smiled . . . savoring his well earned victory...

I'M THE GINGERBREAD MAN!!!!!!

GM 7

Once upon a time, in a magic and far away land, there was a great kingdom. A kingdom of magic and wonder. The people who lived in this land were born from this magic. The Gingerbread people, lead by their Wise King Crumble, and their beautiful queen Gumdrop, lived in peace and harmony in there sugar coated homes, along the great, Milky Sea coast. The people were prosperous, living off the bounties of the large Candy Cane forest to there east, The Milky Sea to their West, and the huge Chocolete Moundside, with it's deep syrup mines, to the north. The land was filled with fun and merrymaking (and merry-baking). The King and Queen hosted gand balls and the whole kingdom would come. But it was not always this way.

Years before, the Gingerbread kingdom were nothing more then a few hundred nomadic cookies, looking to escape to evil Veggyman Empire, led by the Sinister Lord Sprout. The Veggymen hated the sweet, sugary cookies and wanted to crush them to crumbles and become the new favorite food group. THe gingerbread people suffered under the veggymen. One night, just before the rising of the sun, the Cookies made a daring escape. They climbed the celery walls that surrounded the empire and ran. Many Gingerbread men and women were broken during the escape.

The surviving cookies ran as fast as they could. The veggymen could not keep up with the surprising speed of the gingerbread men. But still they followed. THE cookies ran until they came to the foot of the Syrup mountains. With no where left to run, the cookies cried to the heavens for help, and thir prayers were answered.

A loud roar bellowed from the top of the mountain. A dark shadow flew down towards them and with a crash, landed before them. It was a huge Steak Dragon. The leaders of the gingerbread men dropped to there knees, begging the dragon not to harm them. The dragon laughed at their pleas.
"Do not fret, young sweets." The dragon bellowed, his voice echoing up the mountain. "I have no intention of ending the best part of dinner. Now, why have you come to my land."

he leaders of the cookies explained their plight to the dragon. The dragon once again laughed at the cookies, and took flight.
"Do not worry, my new friends. For these are my lands, and as long as I watch over you, no harm shall come to you from the Veggymen." The Gingerbread men cheered when they heard the dragon's words as their savoir flew back into his mountain home.

When the Veggymen drew close to the foot of the mountian, and their army surrounded the runaway cookies, the dragon once again let out a mighty roar and flew down. The dragon circled the army and both cookie and Veggy watched the beast in awe. The dragon opened his wide mouth and released a breath of molten hot sauce onto the Veggy army. The Veggy's were forced to retreat from the spicy, eye watering liquid, and would never return. The cookie's cheered and many years later had built their grand home, under the watchful gaze of the mighty steak dragon

Body of ginger, yeast riddled and baked;
the legendary tale of Hans,
A man that no other can take:

Swift, like the winds of the rolling hills,
Eyes of licorice gumdrop shimmer with glee;
As the alactrious Hans departs from you in a quickened flee.

If one could catch the fleeting gingerbread man,
they would find a taste like none other in the land.
But that is all that is known of Hans;
aside from the fact that he giggles, and likes to dance.

Holiday time. It's the season of friendship and joy. The month where families and friends get together to celebrate their believes and be together. The season where kids run around excitedly, playing in the snow, wondering if perhaps this time they'll be able to get that one special gift they've always wanted. Where the adults run around buying presents, submitting themselves to the hassle of getting everything done in time because they know in the end the others will be happy for it. Or perhaps they too just want to be a child again for once a year.

And who can forget the gingerbread men, of course? Maybe you're making them with grandma, or perhaps the kids. Or you may make them alone, humming a happy holiday tune as you peacefully go about your business. You mold the dough carefully into the shape of the tiny cartoon men, placing them on a baking sheet as you put them in the oven and wait. The delicious smell fills the house, giving you a warm, fuzzy feeling as you wait.

Finally they finish. It's hard to resist biting into one as you carefully take them out of the oven, and so you don't. The warm bread fills your mouth as you munch down on one, sending the taste of baked ginger through your mouth and making it water. As you let them cool, you remove them fro. The baking sheet and place them on something else. Afterwards, you finally get around to decorating them. You put the icing on carefully, drawing in the shape of clothes and faces. Or maybe you use little candies for the eyes and buttons. Perhaps you get even more festive with them. Whatever you do, you're careful with them, as if they're a precious treasure that isn't going to be devoured without a second thought.

But what will you do with them? Will you use them as a snack for the whole family to sit around and eat? Maybe paired with some milk or egg nog? Perhaps you're taking them as a treat for a holiday party you've been invited too. Or what if you're using them in place of Santa's cookies, so as the children sleep you can keep them for yourself and let them think that the joyful gift giver is really the one who ate them all. You're little secret.

Whatever their temporary purpose, you know one thing: You can't wait to eat them.

GM 11

A sonnet to my gingerbrear man:

Oh my sweet savoury gingerbread man,
how I long to put my fingers on your hips
Taste your sweet body on my lips.
Create as much pleasure for me as you can.

I want your white frosting splattered over my face,
reaching climax as I go down on you,
Making this night saucier than fondue,
I know it sounds dirty but my desires are base.

Rip your wrapper open,
My gingerbread man, tasting so fine

We shall skip the wine and dine

The Gingerbread Dance

Gently she places the sugary button
Inklings of dusty delight

which was bought at the store

for all of his outer feature

are corrected to make him look like a creature

Each volume gives a +5 Competence bonus to the user's skill pertaining to that region, and the user gains a +1 Competence bonus per die roll when learning the skill. Example: User has a volume on the Forest Region dealing with Herbivore Cooking. They will gain a +5 Competence bonus towards their Cooking/Baking if they are working with Forest Region ingredients. No matter how many books the user has they will always gain a single +1 Competence bonus to every die roll when learning the skill Cooking/Baking, even if the user has multiple books.
