The effects of the gas was finally wearing off, and the Chuunin contestants would start coming to in their respective rooms. Those who had been placed in room #21 were no different, although unfortunate in their placement. They had found themselves in a circular room, about twenty meters in radius. Light came off from torches placed on the walls. At the western end of the room, an oddly shaped door was standing. On the top half, an eerie blue eye was turning and twisting, as if watching those that had arrived in the room. On the eastern side, there were there chairs placed in front of an ordinary wooden table. At the wall was an ancient fireplace, laid with marble stone. Each contestant came to, placed on one of these chairs, sitting no further than six feet apart from each other, as if they had passed out over a cup of coffee with long lost friends. All of them had the potential to move backwards towards a corner of the room, and as such noone was trapped against the fireplace.

As they started coming to, a booming voice echoed through the room. It was the voice of an examinator, informing them of the rules. Really simplistic rules, too. "Welcome Examinees, let's play a game. As you have noticed you are somewhere not familiar to you. Your exams start now. You have one test, and one test only. Escape. If you cannot escape you have failed the exams. You can use whatever skill, and whatever item to your disposal. We will be waiting for you at the entrance."

At the exact time the examinator had finished talking, the eye would whirl in place, watching the contestants. An eerie, creepy voice, like from a slithering snake, would come forth from the door. "Draw your weapons. Show me your skill." As it was however, the contestants would notice that all of their items had disappeared during their minor timeout. As such, they had no weapons on them.

Waking up wasn't much fun. Sure, it was nice to finally get his consiousness back, yet he could not get over the fact that those bastards got to him and tricked him into falling asleep with their annoying jutsu. His gas mask was still on, or so he thought, and since there was no real threat of gas, Tora reached for it as soon as he opened his eyes, only to find out it was gone. It was then that he heard the voice of the examiner, and when the rules were explained to him and the other two.

Standing up immidiatly, Tora was ready to examine the room, but didn't have the chance to speak as the second snake like voice began talking again. Of course it would've been too easy to let them strategize while alone in the room. So, it made sense some mort of a dangerous aspect would be added to the room to keep the on their toes. What it meant was simply to add another element to the equation before solving the puzzle and getting out of the tower, which should prove to be a fun little game.

It was time to actually build some sort of strategy. But before that, Tora decided to keep himself on his toes. When the voice finished talking, Tora flipped the desk everyone were sleeping on, serving as something of a defense from an attack he felt would come soon enough. "Right. We gotta move and do it quick. I suggest we work together and get of this room alive. All in favor?" He asked as he raised his right arm into the air, while his left reached for a knife under his cloak, ready to defend himself, yet finding nothing since their weapons were removed. How was he to draw his weapon? What the hell?

Since there were three of them, it probably meant they were up to it. It also meant that if they wanted to survive, working together was essential. Should they all agree to the terms of working together, they would have a better chance to gain said promotion. In such an event, Tora was ready to share. "We need strengths and sadly, weaknesses. I'll start. Physical abilities aren't my forte. I do however have a good analytical ability and a way to see through these walls and look into the past." He would say.

If, however, there would be some who oppose working together, instead Tora would simply sigh and deal with such a case then. Here's to hoping they were all cooperative.

Everything felt so off. Junko was in a whole different world. A heavy, drowsy world. She had no recognition of what happened but, it would be too late trying to remember. It was all so very hazy at the moment. Junko started waking up slightly after the first one. She was being unobedient though.

She should be trying to stand up and, such but she didn't. The thought of a running Chuunin Exam event slipped her mind completely. That booming voice was nothing but, an annoyance however Junko listened anyway. Luckily it was enough to retrace some of her memory. Junko picked her head up, as her vision adjusted. She yawned shortly after before actually paying attention to what was going on. She noticed two things. One other contestant and, then the following snake like voice.

Well this was quite the rude awakening. Junko checked her things and, everything was gone. The examiners must have taken it. Fine then. Junko stood up out of her seat and, dusted off her clothing as the other guy flipped the table. Hearing his words she couldn't really see why not to go with it. She has a very low standard for things. "It could help make this process faster. I vote yes but, I'm sure won't be able to team up forever." she responded in a clear, and mildly sweet voice. She was generally ignoring the snake-ish creature as the conversation went on.

Now Junko wasn't too sure she just wanted to give away her strength and, weaknesses like this. They may be trying to work together but, it was still a Chuunin Exam. It was sketchy overall. Junko would cross her arm below her breasts and, think for a bit. Well if she had to fight anyone of them then it would happen then would her secrets be revealed. For now she would give a hint. "As a benefit from my bloodline and clan I am truthfully not alone. I have a sister; currently hybernating within my body. We have the ability to split and rejoin. However there are a few quirks yet I am not comfortable giving them away just yet. For now I suggest this first test gets dealt with." she said before glancing at the door.

Junko played it off that she was willingly not retrieving any of her weapons as the serpent wanted. Instead she stoodt her with her arms folded, hips tilted to the side, strictly ignoring it. Sort of a cute sassy look in a way. Yet still she was really just plotting her escape. Makeshift team or not.

His attempt to resist the sleeping was proven futile, a light thud pulsed through his head as he awoke. Arms rose to push against the table, the Kamyuja rubbing his eyes and blinking free the remaining sleep. His first conclusion upon inspecting the room was the different location, a fireplace behind and a door in front. The rest of the room looked ordinary at a quick glance.

His head turned to inspect the two next to him, female and male. He scanned the room further upon their notice to seek any additional bodies in the room. With only a singular desk and the three chairs the trio were placed upon, his conclusion was simply deduced. As he leaned back in his chair, the back rested firmly against his spine. His eyes narrowed for a minute as he came to realize his crossbow was missing, a quick peek at his waist proved his next guess accurate. His katana was missing too. At least he has his clothes. They wanted to make things difficult, then he wouldn't protest.

He shook his head for a moment and tried to focus internally on the events that had passed, hoping to activate his body clock and figure the amount of time that had passed since the room. Nothing came to his mind, instead just a blank nothingness. He looked back at the door to inspect the light above, see if there was any movement or indication but found it relatively inactive at the time. His attention drawn to one of the shinobi around him as they flipped the table they had been resting on. His eyes locking onto the table itself for a moment to consider his next development.

The man who flipped the table continued his movement and started talking, the voice noted in the back of Kenshin's mind as he stood. Something about teamwork, working together and being stronger or such. It didn't matter, they were fools to do otherwise and discussing it only wasted their time. The Kamyuja turned and took hold of the top of his chair, inspecting the metallic material visually for a second. He placed it back onto the ground and moved to the table, picking it up and placing it back on all fours. He then continued to inspect it for a moment to figure out the physical properties.

He stood back up after inspecting the table and turned back to the door. The snake voice drawing his attention for a split second, if anything was coming, it was likely through that door. His ears would keep themselves alert however, continuing to listen to the location of the two behind him. If they tried anything, he would be wise enough to know they were advancing.

He was relatively amazed to find the two were still discussing their treaty of sorts, where he ignored them and didn't bother to offer anything up. He understood the sentiment but they were in the Chuunin Exams, not in some teamwork workshop. He didn't have to tell them anything, and they would soon figure that out. Whether they trusted him or not would change exactly how their futures would play out.

[OOC: I would like a proper description of the chairs and table, almost an exact description if you can manage it.

I also need to know, since it wasn't declared, if my clothing stayed. It's made of paper, and you said that no items remained. Meaning I'm either butt naked, or I have my clothes and paper.

On another note, now that the posting order is established, the IIC will be set at 48 hours. If you fail to post in that time, you will be skipped. In case of hostile action towards you, well.. Tough luck! - As for your paper clothes, you're not naked. Use it as you see fit.))

Everything aside from the group had remained completely still and silent. The eye atop of the door still watching them with interest, awaiting for some compliance of the request. The table was one of dark oak. A soft piece of wood that wouldn't do anyone much good as a weapon if broken into pieces. Now that it was flipped, the underlying board became visible. As it turned out, there seemed to be nothing of much interest. A few pieces of blank paper, a pen, an old newspaper completely unrelated to current events, some post stamps, a post card from a snow-covered mountain area. Exactly what you'd expect to find under an ordinary work desk. The desk itself had four legs, and had halfway broken from the violent flip. It didn't seem like it would offer any protection if things were going to go awry.

The chairs themselves were of times past. Made entirely out of the same oak wood as the table, they had a back-holder and were, compared to todays standards, brittle. To use them either as a weapon or for defense wouldn't suit anyone too well. The fact that the chairs had managed carrying the weight of each individual person of the group seemed to be a minor miracle. Once again, the voice cut through the silence - the eye fixated upon the group. "Draw your weapons, show me your skill. Only those blessed with skill may leave this room."

It would appear his strategy only half worked. Sure, that girl told him some information, but that other male did not seem to care much for his words. It was also apparent that flipping the desk wouldn't prove as much of a defense, and yet that creepy voice demanded to test their skill as a condition to get out of the tower. A very interesting start to the exams.

Tora turned to the other two, eyes wondering from one to another. "I assume that some rules were set that could determine what skill is sufficient. I'd guess the examiner cast the jutsu to try and test us without actually testing us. Please step back while I try something." He said and turned to the weird eye thing. Since it was their only way to communicate with it, Tora wanted to see if he could reason with it and perhaps outwit the being.

"Do I get to swap weapons as I go along?" the Genin would ask, having his weapon ready. He positioned himself in front of it, sitting down on the ground and taking in a deep breath. Whatever the answer of the being would be, Tora's next words were set. "I have chosen my weapon. My mind is my weapon of choice. Test my skill." He said, ready to see what sort of attack would be set upon him to test him.

While sitting down, Tora decided to see if he could really outwit the eye. Since it was a visual sort of jutsu, Tora hoped a Genjutsu would work nicely on it, providing him an advantage when dealing with it. The seals were formed under his cloak, and the Genjutsu was cast as soon as Tora was done talking, hoping it would have some sort of effect on it. However, if it didn't, he'd just have to deal with it when the time comes.

So far the current events were quite unorderly. Junko was thinking of random things at the moment. She plotted what the obvious pros and cons of the situation was. The choices she makes from now will reflect how successful this exam will really be. As the third participant in this room woke up Junko's mind shifted from the serpent to the other two shinobi quite a bit.

Junko would let Tora do what it was that needed to be discussed. Further down that road she stood back giving him the spotlight as she simply stood half defensively. She was ready to go at it. She curiously watched the first guy try out a beginning little attempt of whatever this was. So in that case she kept her guard up just to reasure herself. "I do not have any weapons, but honestly it doesn't matter. You still can't be allowed to hinder my goal." she would respond back calmly.

The components in the room weren't worth much of anything, a wood but even then only a soft wood. Utilizing it would likely get the other two in more trouble than not. He left the idea for another and began inspecting other parts of the room, trying to find something they could do to help get out of the room. It was then that Kenshin's attention was drawn away from his searching to the voice of another in the room. An idea, and one he wanted to test by himself. The Kamyuja let him test his theory. The teen set himself in front of the eye and sat, his words reaching through the room with ease.

Whether the idea would work or not was what really mattered, Kenshin remained close, standing behind the teen with his attention ready. If they needed defending then he would be ready to do so, but for now expected little to actually happen as a result. He hadn't formed a theory on how to escape, expecting that brute force wouldn't work to their advantage at all. He was willing to exhaust all other options before utilizing his strength to free them. The Kamyuja absentmindedly checked his clothing, brushing over it with his hands to visually account for it all. Everything had been there that was since the initial room, the cards contained in his holsters were removed however, and obviously his crossbow and katana. They wouldn't remove the items unless there was a reason to it.

He didn't expect the examiners to lead them to a room and ambush them with monsters without weapons to defend, many shinobi counted on their weapons to fight and removing just those would severely disadvantage many people. Kenshin for example was a reasonably skilled Taijutsu user, and without his cards or crossbow his options had become limited to Ninjutsu almost exclusively. He wasn't skilled in Genjutsu, so couldn't provide an offensive or defensive action based on that at all, his only other focus being in the medical field where he was limited in knowledge for the time being.

If nothing came of the teen's attempts at drawing an answer from the voice, he would make up his mind and try his own methods. Kenshin was under the assumption there was a limited time to their actions, they couldn't stay here for days trying every option, they needed to escape. His eyes watched the door, waiting for some response.

As Tora was walking closer, the strange eye above the door looked intensely at him. It was as if it was staring through his very being. The man sat down, and started to explain what he was hoping to accomplish with his little plan. They eye blinked. Seemingly confused for a second before the voice once again broke the silence. "Offensive action detected." Then without another warning, a bolt of electricity was shot at Tora. The speed and distance being so harsh that it couldn't be avoided. It was clear that, whatever this door was, if they came to show the door something that wasn't correct, they'd get blasted. In addition, if they showed offensive action towards the door, it would protect itself.

The bolt of lightning itself, was more of a warning shot than an actual damaging attack. It'd leave Tora's fingertips feeling numb, and hurt a shitton, but otherwise he was going to be completely okay.

"Draw your weapons, show me your skill. Only those blessed with skill may leave this room." The door then repeated in the same distinct tone. It was an obstacle that they'd have to pass, and their first choice hadn't worked. Also, there was no guarantee that the door would continue firing back warning shots.

His attempt failed, and yet provided some information too. Surely, if the examiner wanted to be crueler, he would have killed Tora, which was not the case. Instead, a little bit of a warning shot was fired and provided him and the others with valuable information which he was lucky enough to gain. Not only did it inform them about the rules, but also gave away something of the examiner's nature and attitude towards them during the exam. He wasn't cruel, nor was he heartless. He simply wanted to test them.

"It seems there are certain specifications as to what may count as a weapon. It also seems that with the same sort of logic, what skill we use and how skillful we are is also something determined by this door thing." Tora said as he stood up, shaking his hand, trying to loosen it a little from the pain of being electrocuted. It seemed like someone really didn't want Genjutsus cast on them, which put him in a very annoying position in front of the door. "Anyone else wants to try? Perhaps someone a little more skilled with some weapon or another?"

With that asked Tora took a step back and took in a deep breath. He pulled up a chair and sat on it. There was a lot to think about. They were stuck in a room, without items and were expected to choose a weapon and show their skill. How was that even possible? What sort of game were they in? "How about we try an imaginary weapon? Tell the door we choose a sword or whatnot, see what happens? I really don't wanna be electrecuted again, anyone else wants to do it for me?" He said coldly as he leaned back in his chair, trying to figure out how it worked.

Watching the current action was getting Junko the sudden instinct that something was way off here. Witnessing the guy get shot with electricity was unsettling too. It certainly did not look comforting. She kept her eyes fixated door as the same phase was spoken once more. There has to be a clue somewhere if that is their only task. Junko was starting to back track a little as Tora spoke his opinion. Well further more down the line she began putting pieces together.

First off the examiners or, whoever brought them here took all of their material weapons. So logically asking for them to use such things is unethical. There was really no sign of genjutsu; at least that is what she figures. "Let me give it a try." Junko would say shortly afterwards. As Tora stepped back, Junko stepped forward calmly. She stood in front of the door but, had her eyes wondering somewhere else. This wasn't impossible.

However as crazy as it is. Hearing the sound of a chair being moved sparked something else. Junko would ask shortly. After Tora gave his thoughts, Junko would shake her head as she turned around. She didn't nessecarily disagree but, her mind was already pondering up ideas.

Now it is clear hostile actions aren't the answer. And Junko's plan was far from hostile. She walked over to the table again and, stopped to make sure she knew what she was going to attempt. "I think the answer is actually something a lot more under the radar. And far easier." she would state loud enough for everyone to hear.

Junko gently tipped over the table and, laid it on its side again. She remembers seeing these hidden items before her now: Blank sheets of paper, a pen, an old newspaper, post stamps and, a post card. What she was about to do was foolish but, is part of the reason why she thinks it would work. The intructions where to draw your weapons. That may have been interpreted wrong the whole time.

Junko took the pen and paper then, comfortable sat down at the table. She would try her very best to draw her Katana. Freshly polished, a nice adaptive grip, followed by a nice red tassle. Junko would attempt to draw this exactly.

After that was her sister's weapon. A large Battle, Fan. A simple design. A strong metal frame with a durable series of paper in between of course. She had to ease her hand with this design to successfully capture the folds of the paper. Shading and such was lightly applied to really draw out the features of both weapons. She had to be precise since she was using a pen. Yet in that case she liked her work. Junko put the pen down and, held up the paper. She smiled. Even if this wasn't the answer Junko would be happy with herself regardless.

It was a tough shot but, Junko walked back over towards the door, holding the paper to show her work. "Is this what you wanted?" she would ask polietly.

((We're skipping One. Continue between the two of you as you see fit, and One will have to catch back up if possible once he returns. Besides, you lured my little trick already. ))

The eye blinked, peering down at the creation that Junko was drawing on the paper. The door seemed to squee with joy, as it bellowed out loudly.

"Such pragmatism! Realistic, ohhh, a small touch of avantgarde I dare say! Very pleasing to the eyes, very skillful deduction! I shall let you pass this minor test.. but beware, the dangers ahead are many times deadlier than I..." With the foreboding warning, the eye smoldered away, and all the locks on the door clicked open. The group was now free to go into the connecting corridor if they so pleased. Corridor "M".

"You've got to be shitting me." Tora said as he saw what the female was doing. What the hell was that kind of test? Wit? How is that a ninja skill? Tora couldn't get over the fact that it would work. He actually hoped it wouldn't and wanted the girl to be electrocuted like himself, which didn't happen. Sadly enough, she was right, and he was standing there, embarrassed to see that he fell into the dumbest little trick the examiner could think of.

Once the door opened Tora sighed, walking over to the girl, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Good job. I'm glad I've been placed here with such an intelligent being. I hope I'll be as useful as yourself." He said as he looked at the open door, raising a brow. It was supposed to be obvious that this would be the type of test they'd be put in, especially since the person who registered them was a bright and colorful person with an annoying personality, who was obviously 'Fabulous'.

Now they were facing another challenge, one that still hasn't revealed himself to them yet. It wasn't really his thing to get out there first without finding out what's waiting there. "Anyone wants to scout ahead, or should I?" He asked as he stretched himself, hoping he could prove his worth in the next challenge.

As soon as she heard anything other than "Hostile action detected," or "Incorrect answer." Junko was smiling very bright. It felt good to actually get this right. Yet it felt even better to sense the envy possibly brewing up in some people in this room. Still it was a group effort. All ideas were very reasonable ones. But the power of random action has won again. No there really isn’t an explanation for it, honestly Junko was surprised herself but, she was too happy to even admit it.


Tora gave some short congratulating words making Junko giggle simply by the sound of his voice. “You are useful. Don’t even try to count yourself out yet. But still...thank you for the kind words I appreciate it.” She spoke sweetly but, Junko didn’t want to waste too much time though. By now there could be tons of other contestants roaming the tower. The empty corridor ahead was bare and, awaiting their presence.


Now it come down to one another decision. Who was to go first? Screw reason. “I’ll go first if you want. Just follow close behind me if you so desire.” Junko would then walk past the door with no worries whatsoever. She was expecting a challenge up ahead or, maybe some kind of ambush but, her mind was doing an excellent job in keeping her thoughts calm. On the left wall was the words "Corridor M" in standard bold letters. Walking past it Junko was ready to move on to the next step.

The first plan had failed, something he had somewhat expected but was hoping to work either way. With the unusual style of exams they were set in, it appeared there was a similar following to what had happened and what was required. He'd let the two take their own actions first before looking for an alternative and fortunately the second provided by the younger female had worked. Her plan simplistic and something he had honestly overlooked, far too distracted by the bright shiny things and ignoring the tools provided.

The eye disappeared after acknowledging her success, the locks clicking open as it did so. Kenshin remained alert but pushed forward, it was then that the discussion came up as to who to go first. He would have offered but the other two seemed more than happy and eager. His eyes scanning the corridor for anything out of place. As the young female pushed forward herself, she expressed her disinterest in being anywhere but at the front, and so the Venator fell behind her by two paces. Hopefully the younger male would fall behind him and they could stay together temporarily to face the dangers ahead.

The clothing of the Venator remained close, his fingers prepared to form a set of seals if needed to try and protect the lot should they befall a trap. His focus on their survival and defense as he entrusted their lead to look for traps and the rear to watch for threats and ambushes.
