Schatzi Rutherford, in the guise of the Fierian mercenary Leon, had come to the Gintsuki no Seikou Mai dojo of Taki no Kuni to receive further training with his knife. In a close fight, he still lacked the skills and reaction speed to avoid taking damage. He was more aware of this than ever before now. Much as he enjoyed his indulgences, every once in a while the time came to take things seriously. The time had come. He was all business now.
One of many in the class, he followed along with the master's display with a single knife. Other people being instructed preferred different weapons, but for him it would always be knives. The weakest and smallest eligible weapon, but the one that suited him the best for its ease of use and concealment. Following along with the lessons from the beginning, first were techniques he already had mastered up until the Boseki Yuki. This was the first new move to come up so far, and it was a simplistic one. Invert the stance to avoid an attack, use the momentum to kick the attacker with force.
Simple yes, but easy? No. Even experienced practitioners had to be mindful of their surroundings in this and any situation, and in a block with almost thirty individuals, most of whom were novices, the kick segment was a force of inherent chaos. All spun, though not as one, creating a tangle of legs and bodies that caused the master only to shake his head in disdain. How embarrassing. Schatzi, referring to himself as Leon, wasn't sure if he would have gotten that right alone. He certainly didn't manage to avoid getting caught in the human net. But he felt that something so basic as this would not likely take too long to master.
Of course, that was depending on how long exactly would be considered as "too long", since it was proving unable to be learned instantly. That could be his own shortcomings, or it could be the fault of these other idiots. He was inclined to blame them. Still, once everyone had disentangled themselves from each other, they continued in pairs. One would move to strike, the other would avoid it by inverting their stance, then spin around the follow-up to land a counterattack with the heel. The defender was expected to avoid it with an inversion of their own, while raising one arm to block if it couldn't be dodged.
After they did that a few times with mixed results, they rotated positions. Schatzi, rather Leon, was now on the counterattacking side. Inverting his stance was easy enough, as it was something he had mastered previously, but his spin was too slow to dodge the follow-up. Fine. He had an answer to that. Of the fourteen saddilia nuts in his possession, he ate five, which raised his speed to the point that it could no longer be competed with by his current adversary. This time, he inverted his stance so that the horizontal swing passed harmlessly in front of him, then spun around the vertical attack to plant his heel into his partner's face before it could be dodged. The force of it sent the radish tumbling to the mats.
Saddilia [5 Doses]
Rank: Nearly Impossible, Colossal
Type: Herb, Grassland, Summer/Autumn, TaiJutsu Enhancement/Chakra Enhancement.
Effect: An herb capable of increasing the user's chakra levels as well as their movements.
Special: Preparation: 2 weeks ; Duration: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: This rare tree can grow up to 20 meters tall, and can become quite old. It has dark red wood, and equally dark blue leaves. The flowers, which grow in small bunches, are startling white, almost radiant. Its nuts have a very special property; each nut raises the user's chakra levels and increases their movements by 1 (Effects stack up to 3 times). The effect lasts for a 1 day, after which it fades again (minus 1 every days), although there is a 10% chance the effect is permanent. Around the tree there are often animals (squirrels, salmon) who eat the nuts on a regular basis, and are therefore quite nimble, quick, and rumor has it able to possess Chakra techniques. Herb consists 128 doses.
