Raika was exhausted from his time away, so much had happened in the last two years. He had been on a mission that failed, been captured and put in jail, escaped, then readied himself for the Chuunin Exams before participating in them. Ahhhh, the training he had done. Tatsu sighed as he remembered the skills he had learned in the villages and cities he had been through after his time in that foreign prison. Skills that could no doubt be useful in a variety of situations.
During his imprisonment, he had been forced to act out a lie in order to save himself and escape. He had gotten quite lucky that the guard he had deceived was not particularly bright, because otherwise everything might have been different. He had decided to actually learn how to act. Thus, while staying in a city in one of the countries near the place of the Chuunin Exams. There, under a different name, he trained under a company of actors in a local theater. Thinking back on it, it was quite the experience….
“So, you want to know how to act? Well, you’re in the right place. We can teach you, that is for sure. We’ll put you in small positions at first in our plays, and maybe you’ll learn enough to take on bigger roles. We’ve got some productions coming up that you’d be perfect for.”
Raika nodded. He had used Henge no jutsu to hide his abnormal appearance, giving him a slightly different visage that was more appealing. He was tasked with acting out a regular citizen in the street who had to answer some questions. He read his lines silently before the trainer began directing him.
“Alright, to act any part, you need to make it feel natural. You can’t memorize lines and recite them back. You have to make it seem as if you were saying them of your volition. Alright, try it.”
Tatsu looked at his lines and then tried to act out the scene he was given. “Sir, sir, the man you are, um, looking for he is that way. I can take you to him, um, for some compensation.”
“No, no, no, too stiff. You are monotone and unseemly. You must not act so jittery, keep your complexion. Come on, try it again. See yourself as the street man, looking for money, willing to cooperate for it.”
Raika nodded. He said the same lines, but this time with less monotone and more feeling. But he was still quite stiff. He had a lot to learn. He watched the others act out there parts, observing the way they moved, spoke, and delivered their lines. He would get to that point soon, he knew it.
