eep within the forests of Hi no Kuni you find your target. The forest gives way as you step across the tree line, finding a large clearing in front of you. Squat in the middle of it is a grubby palisade, which although slightly lacking in terms of maintenance it seemed to suffice in keeping out wildlife and the occasional bandit. Clearly they did not fear much here. Beyond it brilliantly coloured green and orange roofs poke up above the sharp tips of the palisade.

Around you the air was thick and heavy from the smell of the many flowers surrounding the town in many brilliant colours. In the distance you could see a few orchards on the south side of the town, whereas sugar beets seemed to grow towards the north side. Apart from sugar beets you did not see much food production, but there was not much question as to where these people found their food. On the north side of the town you could see the smoke rising from a small hut near the treeline. A deer was hanging upside down in front of it and a hunter was busy processing the meat. Near the gates, which were open you could distinguish a cart where sacks, presumably filled with grain, were being exchanged for buckets full of beautiful flowers by the cultivator and a trader.

You approached from the east, which meant that the sun would now be behind you, considering that it was still halfway through the morning. You had been brought here by a murder mystery, but there was little from the outside that revealed that any kind of tragedy had taken place here that required your attention. By all accounts there should be a square exactly in the centre of the village where the local sheriff was supposed to be waiting for you with a first report. You had been given special dispensation for this mission, to that accord the Godaime had equipped you with a parchment full of official looking wax seals, signatures and difficult words, which was supposed to be proof of your all-encompassing authority during this mission. Judge, Jury and Executioner.

Somehow it did not sound that awesome when all you had to Judge, Jury and Execute was a small woodland village producing flowers…

'This should be interesting' thought the male as he approached the village gates. He was wearing his hip pouch which contained 2 smoke grenades, 6 kunais, 5 explosive pouches, 15 hira shurikens, 20 exploding tags, 50 senbons, a rake pick, a ball pick, a hook pick, a half-diamond pick, a torsion wrench, a multi-tool, a gas mask with filter B, a soldier pill, a lensatic compass, a glass cutter and 2 bloodclot pills.
His Chuunin flak jacket had 2 smoke grenades, 2 stun grenades, 4 kunais, 10 hira shurikens, 6 kunais and 3 fragmentation grenades. Inside his wire reel was 81 meters with wire while his katana was strapped to his right side.

Minoru had brought his animal companions with him. The biggest one was resting inside his flak jacket and looked like a giant white pillow. His smaller one however stood right next to him.
'I suppose I should try to find the sheriff. But where can he be?' thought the young man while he looked around in the square.

Nobody could tell that he was a main house Hyuuga since the headband was tied around his head. The Chuunin preferred it that way given that his eyes gave him quite an advantage.
Toshio was scanning the surroundings with his golden eyes as well. He did not seem to care about the saying 'curiosity killed the cat'. Then again, cats had nine lives.

'They seem to be using flowers instead of money for trading. But I wonder what kind of flowers they're growing here. Shake it off Minoru, you're not here for herb stuff.
You're here to solve a mystery case' recalled the male. He straightened himself as he walked towards the gates.

His animal friends were thankfully not bothered by the heady scent of flowers. The black-haired man was no stranger to herbs, but he found this smell a bit strong. 'I wonder who else signed up for this mission.
Maybe I get to work with some people I haven't met. I hope I don't hinder the team in any way' thought the man as he entered the village.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai walked up to the Eastern Gates not far behind another Hyuuga. This member of his clan wasn't someone he knew very well or even at all. But then again his clan was fairly large especially if you take in all the branches. With a deep breath Kyodai focused himself and ran through a mental list of how he was equipped. He was making sure he hadn't left behind anything he needed.

Kyodai was a medical nin of average height and a lean build. How he was equipped might be considered odd by some. He was wearing a short sleeve shirt, the left arm of which had a band of white and a marking which marked him medical corp. He wore a tactical vest that had a waist pouched attached to it bulging with a pair of kinves and a dozen kunai. Over his shoulder he carried a full medical pack full of several books, splint rebar, field cauterizer, a plenty stone, and several kinds of medical supplies. Oddly his leg rig that fitted over his pants was empty of pouches but his pockets had a few items like a penlight, a compass, and a walkie talkie. 

On this Medic's head he wore his Leaf badge headband over his cursed seal so you couldn't tell if he was branch or main. Over his butt was another pack of supplies, with two pairs of goggles, twenty pieces of flint, nine grenades, several oils, a bottle of rum, three Leyden Jutsu Bottles, another pair of Kunai, and two half bottles of fish float. As we got where he was beside the other Hyuuga he took a deep inhale of the fragrances of the flowers. He tried to use his limited knowledge to identify a few and was failing. Which just made him make a mental note to study and read up on flowers and other plants.

In his hand he carried a rolled parchment with several seals. "Hello, guess your here for the same reason as I. "

Gardener’s square murders

rom the eastern village gate you could directly see the city hall (3) in front if you, fronted by a small square where you encountered the sheriff. The man in question was of surprisingly short stature, his bald head bobbing a mere one meter and sixty five centimeters above the ground, what he lacked in length however was most generously compensated by his girth. His gold thread embroidered brown leather jacket seemed to burst at the seams and his buttons were doubling down on keeping the garment from flopping open. Loose threads emerging from underneath the buttons revealed that this was not an uncommon problem and that the buttons had been sewn back before. He waved at you as you approached, his arm fat flopping underneath his blue sleeves. ”Thank you that you could come! Name’s Bluebart!” At this point he clasped both of your hands in turn with his sweat drenched ones, shaking them almost furiously.”It is horrible I tell you! We have not been able to do find a single clue. Would you like to see? I must warn you, it is gruesome…” He said, his voice dropping to a whisper as if the subject were taboo.

Townsfolk were walking about you, casting glances but none interfering as the man led the way, turning to the right. There was a set of four houses here, two with a straw roof enclosing another two with a wooden roof between them. The second house was behind a large bush, in the shadow of a large tree (B). It immediately stood out by the fact that it was being guarded by a deputy in his early twenties. This youngster donned the same uniform as the sheriff minus the gold thread and the floppy belly. This one was in shape, but clearly not used to combat of any kind. He held a spear in a semi-professional way and had a club too, but that was about it. His black hair was wavy and slick, combed back with an excess of grease. Someone was trying too hard to impress. As you approached he opened the door, pressing a handkerchief to his nose. ”You first please.” The sheriff spoke, gesturing to the slightly dark inside.

No lamp was lit and the window shutters were closed, so what first approached you was the rancid sweet smell of dried blood starting to decay emanating from the dark. Eventually your eyes would get used to the light and the gruesome scene would come into sight a little more clearly. The house had been quite simple. The room you were in seemed to double as both kitchen and living room. Flagstones covered the floor and blood covered the flagstones. It was everywhere. Large swathes lay on the floor, dark and dried. Splatters of blood covered the walls in select places. One particularly large one was directly beside the door. A differently coloured splattered covered that one and on the floor in front of it was… A single blue eye. The heavy oak table that once had been the center of the room was toppled, a girl around the age of fourteen pinned underneath and quite dead, her lifeless eyes staring at the ceiling and an expression of fear and surprise on her face. The chairs were scattered across the room. The open kitchen at the back was strangely untouched. Someone had been making something on the stove in a skillet but never finished, leaving it unattended. Whatever it had been was now dried and black. Next to the kitchen, on the left side of the square room, was a set of stairs, leading to the one floor above. ”They slept upstairs, it is most gruesome. The mother is there, brutally slaughtered. We have not been able to find a trace of the youngest daughter, age of three. No idea if she is dead or alive. At first we suspected the father but uhm… That there is his. Assuming he was likely not savage enough to remove it himself -the man is a florist for heaven’s sake- we presume him to be dead too.” Bluebart noted, pointing at the eye on the floor. Quite the mystery indeed.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai took out a bandage and ripped it up into four really small pieces. He stuff two pieces into his nose and handed the other two pieces to the Chunnin Hyuuga. He immediately afterwards activated his Byakugan for the better sight that would give him. As he took a second to look at the scene before him and around him, he held up an arm to stop anyone else from trying to enter. "Sheriff, How many people have walked through this crime scene?, and was your deputy only guarding the front or do you have more men covering other exits and entrances? Secondly later I am going to need to examine each of your shoes and hands to exclude evidence of you from the crime scene. I will need you to give me a exact play-through of yours and your people's actions after I am done."

Without much further ado, Kyodai placed down his medic pack, choosing some basic medical equipment out of it to make a rough shod evidence gathering kit. Cloth to collect blood samples, some dust to try to collect finger prints. While he worked his eyes narrowed at the various sights trying to pin point any chakra signatures or missing objects he could see. So far one body downstairs and an eyeball of a second person. According to the Sheriff, a third body is upstairs and their is a missing toddler.

So far the amount of blood makes little sense. The young girl under the heavy oak table doesn't looked to be chopped up. So unlikely the source of so much blood. Supposition it is probably the father's blood, detail analysis needed to confirm. If it is the father's blood he is most likely dead from blood loss alone. As he worked on gathering evidence his mind worked on a likely profile of the culprit.

His first action was not to walk directly inside, but to check the door frame and door for signs of forced entry. The he began to walk the crime scene perimeter. Two reasons for this to make sure the evidence was limited to the house at the moment, and secondly looking for other signs of entry. This was a family of four, and the father figure was a florist. This was just the beginning. As he walked around he took out a small notepad and pen, and started making notes. Looking for foot prints and or impressions. Any kind of trail would be helpful.

This was going to be one of the times he cursed his near perfect memory. For he will never forget the dead faces nor the carnage of the scene. But he had a job to do. After that quick perimeter check he would finally walk into the building. He was very careful not to disturb any evidence or to walk on any of the blood. Before entering he took out more bandages, to wrap his shoes in to make sure he could gather more evidence and lose very little.

His mind was already working on the patterns of the blood spray as we took in the scene. He wasn't looking for specifics yet, that came later. This was more of marking where the important pieces of information are. He was a trained medic though so his attention was drawn to obvious signs of trauma first. His mind being a very well oiled machine was already picking out details for later use. A fight of some sort obviously happen. This was not a quiet crime scene.

"Chunnin, can you canvas the neighbors and see if they heard something? With this much damage to the property this was not a quiet murder. This attack happen fast, father was hit first most likely. His eye and the blood stains by the door seem to indicate this. So please poll how the man was to strangers and friends. His psychology is important. " Next to die was probably the daughter, likely she was the one cooking for some reason. No mother would leave a daughter behind to die, and the mother died upstairs. Unless multiple attackers killed this family, would need evidence of that.

Toddler is the unknown, probably was with the mother when she died. It would be instinct at the first sign of commotion to rescue children and hide them. So search for signs of missing child is a high priority. Another priority assess possible motives for attacking the family. Was a single member a target or was it the whole family. Another note to figure out why the excessive violence of the scene. Autopsies will be required once the scene is thoroughly examined.

Notes, Multiple attackers likely due to speed of attack. Father probably was incapacitated by the first one as the rest rush through. The rigor of fear and surprise of young girl indicates it was a bull rush attempt to the house, so it was sudden. Probably tried to run when the table was flipped onto her. She likely screamed, so noisy for sure. Another note that at least one of the attackers is fairly strong to flip the solid oak table. Unless destruction was their purpose it was probably flipped in the attempt to get at the girl.

Kyodai's mind was sorting through limited evidence and digging up conclusions. But he wasn't shutting himself from other possibilities as he did so. An open mind was needed for such a scene of horror. Poor children to be caught up in whatever happen here.

These would be good profiles to receive if the user is a character assigned to a case. They represent a big clue from the person telling the story. When writing a story, a Game Master needs to think about the psychology of their criminals; however, in game, a Game Master should not want to give too much away too soon. In reality, profiling adds flavor rather than facts. Profiling only gives clues and signals, not a detailed description (for example, the suspect is a highly intelligent person, etc.) By using Sense Motive -40, and Evidence Analysis -40, the user can gain the flavorful insight of a target.

[Minoru Hyuuga]

"Uuuurk" muttered the male as he tied the bandage around his face. His animal companion did not seem to appreciate the stench of dried blood either. Minoru noticed that there were splatters of blood everywhere inside the living room.
His animal companion then let out a violet hiss while looking at an object on the floor. The young man stepped closer to see what it was.

He felt shivers run down his spine...it was a single blue eye. It did not get any better when he saw the teenage girl under the table. Her facial expression was surprised as well as scared.
'That's interesting' thought the Chuunin as he looked at her body. She appeared to be pinned to the floor.

"They slept upstairs, it is most gruesome. The mother is there, brutally slaughtered. We have not been able to find a trace of the youngest daughter, age of three.
No idea if she is dead or alive. At first we suspected the father but uhm…That there is his. Assuming he was likely not savage enough to remove it himself -the man is a florist for heaven’s sake- we presume him to be dead too" informed Bluebard.

"Chunnin, can you canvas the neighbors and see if they heard something? With this much damage to the property, this was not a quiet murder. This attack happen fast, father was hit first most likely.
His eye and the blood stains by the door seem to indicate this. So please poll how the man was to strangers and friends. His psychology is important." told the other guy.

"I will - please call me Minoru by the way. I will leave Toshio-kun with you since he is quite good at discerning scents" replied the male.
"Toshio-kun, please use your nose to help this man out. But don't be too obedient. He does not know who the boss is" told the black-haired man in animal language.

"Yes" replied his animal friend. Once outside in fresh air, the young man activated his heritage. He scanned the house on the left side to see if there was anyone home.
'It'll be a waste to check the neighbors house if there's nobody home' thought Minoru. His other animal companion had started to wake up from her slumber, ready for action.

Description: The creature can detect opponents within 10-meters by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 20-meters; if downwind, it drops to 5-meters. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at x2 the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk, can be detected at x3 normal range. When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a movement to note the direction of the scent. Whenever the creature comes within two meters of the source, the creature pinpoints the source’s location. When finding herbs and animals (random), scent may improve searching for them (must have Scent of object previously before searching). Learning “D” Rank allows the user to search for common things, while “S” Rank for nearly impossible. Each rank user learns increases chance of finding by 2% for the rank of herb, and increases per rank thereafter. [Solus]

L

owering the corners of his mouth the man pulled a ‘I don’t know, got to think’-look as he wiggled about on his feet and tucked his hands behind his belt ”Well, apart from me and my deputy there’s the neighbour. Long time family friend. He noticed they were late yesterday morning so he went to see if they woke up. Understandably he did not go beyond the door.” At the notion of more men guarding the exits the sheriff and the deputy looked at each other before bursting into some light chuckles. ”Hear that! More men! Hilarious. You are looking at two thirds of the watch here sir. We got Red, he does the night watches so he is currently sleeping.” He wiped a sweatdrop from the top of his head. ”I do not see the point considering we’re the law here, but if sniffing our shoes makes you happy go ahead.”

Evidence gathering went smoothly. Immediately Kyodai would notice a lack of marks around the door. It looked like it had either not been used or open. There was an open lock on the door but it looked rarely used. No key though. Blood splatter analysis revealed instantly an interesting fact. Someone had been slammed with force against the wall next to the door. Clearly a skull had cracked, revealed by a stain on top of the blood stain. Could this explain the eye? Had it been sent flying from a destroyed skull? The wall was solid stone, could it take such a hit? Likely the one slammed against the wall had already been bleeding when he did so. The stain had gotten this size because the person in question must have been slumped against the wall, creating the large stain. Where was the body though? There were no signs of a body having been dragged across the floor.

The table had indeed been flipped clean and seemed to be the cause of death at first sight. The small spine of young girl had not survived the impact, nor did her ribs. Blood splatters around her indicate that she had lived for a while, coughing blood in silence until eventually perishing. Her hands were covered in blood and it seemed she had left handprints around her in a futile attempt to crawl from underneath the table.

Surprisingly there were no footsteps through the blood. The attacker had somehow smashed the father into the wall, flipped the table and had not bothered with either the man or the young girl after. At least not enough to finish off the girl quickly or get his feet dirty.

Outside:

In the row of four houses there were two houses in use. You could see smoke rising from the chimney of the first house with a straw roof, indicating someone was at least nurturing a fire there. The second house you stood in front of and was the scene of the murder. The third house, another one with a wooden roof was dark and looked like no one was home. Then there was the fourth house, here an elder man stood grooming a patch of roses in his front garden.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai processed the evidence so far and it made little sense. So no force was used at all at least on the front door. That was off, more so was the lack of evidence of the attacker. And the Attacker at the very least had to take the body of the father figure but there was no evidence of dragging. So he quickly double checks for a blood droplets trail to indicate that the body was carried out. As he was looking around he spoke to the Sheriff. "That was exactly why Sheriff, since you and your deputies are the law. I figure I can take any evidence you left behind and exclude it as having any baring on the case. "

As Kyodai finished up with the bottom floor, he picked up the eyeball and bagged it for later analysis. He decided to go upstairs and inspect the scene up there, and when he was finished with the evidence there. It would be time to come back and do proper autopsies on the girl and her mother. He needed to get time of death and specifics of the injuries though the girl's is pretty obvious. He was putting together a pretty decent timeline.

Kyodai had almost forgot about the cat in his analysis. He looked up at the cat and pondered for a moment. " I am not your master, so do what ever you think best but please stay out of the blood. "

Description: As a science, it is not exact. Characters can ask for psychological profiles, but only in big events. The Ninja use profiling when there is no main suspect. The ANBU is the biggest user of profiling; its own study found that only seventeen percent of cases were solved by the use of profiling. Profilers draw most of their evidence from the scene of the crime. It is not unusual for profilers to disagree. Example profiles include:
•An urbane intellectual who is a manipulation freak.
•A blue-collar worker of low intelligence and no remorse.
•A victim of great personal loss or anguish connected with the MO.
•An antisocial personality looking to articulate themselves.
These would be good profiles to receive if the user is a character assigned to a case. They represent a big clue from the person telling the story. When writing a story, a Game Master needs to think about the psychology of their criminals; however, in game, a Game Master should not want to give too much away too soon. In reality, profiling adds flavor rather than facts. Profiling only gives clues and signals, not a detailed description (for example, the suspect is a highly intelligent person, etc.) By using Sense Motive -40, and Evidence Analysis -40, the user can gain the flavorful insight of a target.

[Minoru Hyuuga]

'Hmmm...which one should I pick?' pondered the male as he studied the houses. House number one had smoke coming out of the chimney. Someone - or something - was most likely inside in order to create the fire.
House number two was the 'murder house' while house number three was seemingly dark. There was no smoke or anyone outside of that house either.

Minoru then spotted an elderly man grooming a patch of roses outside the fourth house. 'I think I'll ask the gentleman first. Then, I'll move on to the house with smoke coming out of the chimney.
But I wonder why I feel a bit suspicious about nobody being home in the third house. Eh, I better not jump to conclusions just yet' decided the young man.

His animal companion let out a small chirping sound. He smiled before he opened his flak jacket to let her out. Shimoko flied towards the sky soon after she had stretched her wings.
The Chuunin walked calmly towards the older man. "Hello sir - how are you?" greeted the male in a polite voice.

He was standing about eight feet in front of the man. "You look like a trustworthy person. I've heard rumours about some murder and I'm not sure what to believe.
Are all of it lies or is there some truth to it?" inquired the black-haired guy. He did not wanted to associate himself with the police immediately in case this man did not trust them.


Toshio:


"I am not your master, so do what ever you think best. But please stay out of the blood." told the human. The animal gave him a quick 'meow' to confirm the order.
'It's not that I want to mess around in the blood either' thought Toshio while pulling a face. He decided to complete the worst part first and started sniffing on the dead girl.

All the blood combined with the dead body made the creature more suspect. Someone or something that could kill humans like that could easily end his nine lives too. But cats had better noses plus better vision to compensate for that.
The abyssinian was currently sniffing at the girl's torso. He knew quite well how different humans smelled like thanks to his life at the Hyuuga mansion.

Description: The creature can detect opponents within 10-meters by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 20-meters; if downwind, it drops to 5-meters. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at x2 the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk, can be detected at x3 normal range. When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a movement to note the direction of the scent. Whenever the creature comes within two meters of the source, the creature pinpoints the source’s location. When finding herbs and animals (random), scent may improve searching for them (must have Scent of object previously before searching). Description: An animal has a keen sense that no other person has. With this type of keen sense it can read one's body type, feel the intentions emitting from the body, as well as get an understanding of everything. It doesn't matter what a person does, the way they stand, how calm they are, how much they move, how they walk, or even the heartbeat of the person, an animal is able to sense the type of person they are. With this technique the animal is capable of figuring out of the person is perhaps an evil intentioned character. This will help the animal feel threatened or feel more at eased, or to perhaps not even care or feel if one is perhaps suspicious in some way.

Sekondo nen (Second sense) [10 + 20].

Effect: The brawler depending on the rank of the technique the user is capable of reacting through subconscious mind against attacks against the user in different manners such as being flanked, and from behind. This technique makes the brawler incapable of being surprise attacked.

Drawback: The user may only learn this technique by the class that they are. This means that in order to learn the “C” Rank version they must be “C” Class, if they wish to learn the “B” Rank version they must be “B” Class.
Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the brawler is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. If an opponent comes to a brawler at a bar, and attacks with a sword, or a club, the brawler gains the urge to dodge to the left, or to the right, where they are capable of reacting before the action is completed. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a “D” Class user that knows this technique can not use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.

[Solus]

S

hrugging the sheriff would accept Kyodai’s explanation. He did not seem to fully understand what you were saying, doubly so for the deputy. Not quite surprising, these people were used to guarding the most boring palisade in the country, breaking up very minor occasions of fisticuffs and escorting drunk people home. Neither was even mentally equipped to conduct a proper investigation. Still, you found something interesting. A few droplets of blood, there were two between the door and the stairs, a third one was about halfway the stairs on one of the steps. Going up the stairs you noticed it creaked heavily.

Upstairs was quite simple. Above you the two slopes of the roof adjoined into the top of the room. Down the centre a wall had been built separating this floor into two pieces, but there were no doors to keep anyone out of either room. At the back of either room were windows which could be closed with and were currently covered by shutters. Both rooms had a clearly defined purpose with both being bedrooms. The one of the right was slightly larger and clearly the master bedroom, here there was a kingsize bed. The other one was the children’s room and featured two separate beds. The children’s beds were still made neatly.

In the master bedroom things were different though. The sheets had been ripped off the bed and the mattress had been pushed off, leaning limply against the bedframe on the opposite side. White goose feathers blanketed the room as they had been released from the pillows, many stuck in dried blood. The mother was between the bed and the wall, slumped against the wall just right of the window. Her face was contorted in pain and her arms lay uselessly at her side. Her stomach had been ripped open from the navel right up to the bottom of the ribcage in a gruesome wound. Flies buzzed which gave an eerie sound to the otherwise silent scene. A rancid sweet smell told you something else. The woman had soiled herself in her last moments.

Outside

Your greetings were met by an undecipherable grumble from the frail old man who looked you up and down several times. It was the bane of small towns like this, for the old man clearly identified you as an outside on the spot. Rather than answering you he turned his back towards you and continued raking his patch. ”It is your fault. All you outsiders and your stupid ways raping our women and whatnot. You shinobi think you can do whatever you want, well, I’ll tell you we don’t want your kind and your rules around here. Please go stink up someone else’s garden.” He said, not even looking at you as he continued to rake. Well, that was a kind starter to the conversation.


Toshio
Sniffing the cat would find a myriad of people smells, mainly belonging to the ones present, plus the ones of blood and other bodily fluids from the deceased. The smell of the burned food made it difficult however to find a specific trail. There was another smell though. Something the Abyssinian could not place for she had never smelled anything like it before, smelling neither specifically good or bad.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai noted the odd pattern to the droplets on the stairs and jotted down the directionality of the droplets for something was more than a little off. What was off was not the fact that three people were murdered and a toddler is missing. No this evidence is both to much and to little. The two scenes show chaos as the murdr or murders killed their way hrough the house. But they left very little evidence of him/her/themselves.

Either way, Kyodai started picking apart the upstairs scene. The fact that only the Master bedroom was touch would seem to signify that they knew the mother was in there. Secondly the amount of destruction was overkill. Rage or at last something personal was the emotions played out as the mother was killed. The poor woman was eviscerated and the indignity of death has claimed her. Causes of death seem to be straight forward, but maybe their bodies will have clues.

Kyodai tested how stiff the dead woman was to see if rigor had set in. Then he got a temperature check of her liver using equipment from his medical bag. It should give him approximate time of death. The woman was definitely an epicenter of what happen here. He closely examined her clothes, her nails, her skin. He was going over her outside collecting anything that could lead to her murderer. He also measured the wound, examined it for jaggedness and depth.

Opening up his medical bag and forming a chakra scalpel, Kyodai prepared for an autopsy. So he moved her to laying flat on the ground in a space that he cleared of potential clues first and then clear as to not lose any clue from her. Then he began a through examination of her inside and out. Nothing was to insignificant at this point.

Description: As a science, it is not exact. Characters can ask for psychological profiles, but only in big events. The Ninja use profiling when there is no main suspect. The ANBU is the biggest user of profiling; its own study found that only seventeen percent of cases were solved by the use of profiling. Profilers draw most of their evidence from the scene of the crime. It is not unusual for profilers to disagree. Example profiles include:
•An urbane intellectual who is a manipulation freak.
•A blue-collar worker of low intelligence and no remorse.
•A victim of great personal loss or anguish connected with the MO.
•An antisocial personality looking to articulate themselves.
These would be good profiles to receive if the user is a character assigned to a case. They represent a big clue from the person telling the story. When writing a story, a Game Master needs to think about the psychology of their criminals; however, in game, a Game Master should not want to give too much away too soon. In reality, profiling adds flavor rather than facts. Description: When concentrating to See Through Chakra, the character can also spend time equal to Handseals to gain the ability to see through objects with X-ray like vision up to 10 meters from the user. This does not impede the user's line of sight and the distance a user can normally see, however they simply will not be able to use the X-ray ability beyond 10 meters. When the user first learns this technique the user trains it as a regular "C" Rank Jutsu. Each additional training allows the user to use the X-Ray ability for an additional 10 meters. For every 50 meters the user trains an additional +10 Training Points added to their previous training. [Minoru Hyuuga]

The older man was not turning around to face him. 'Maybe he can't hear that well' presumed the male. Or maybe he was trying to think about an answer.
He could see that the man was raking his garden. At least Minoru did not have to be afraid of the senior plotting a surprise attack.

"It is your fault. All you outsiders and your stupid ways raping our women and whatnot.
You shinobi think you can do whatever you want, well, I’ll tell you we don’t want your kind and your rules around here. Please go stink up someone else’s garden" replied the older male. His answer made the younger man rise his eyebrow so high that they nearly vanished into his hairline.

'HAVE A NICE DAY YOU TOO YOUR *****!' thought the Chuunin. But he knew better than saying that. "Outsider raping women? Could you please tell me what you mean?" inquired the male while he tried to maintain a polite voice. To insult an older person was quite rude, but this guy might have spotted something.

The black-haired guy made sure to keep his senses alert while observing the man. Not looking directly at his face was an annoyance, but his byakugan made up for it. He could see his heart beat as well as his muscles.
Not only that, but he would pay attention to how the man acted as well. Maybe that would give him a clue.



Toshio:

The animal felt a bit disgusted when he smelled the body. Human blood did NOT smell nice at all. Especially when it was not completely fresh.
Toshio let out a small hiss when his nose picked up the smell of some other bodily fluids. They reminded him of a freshly-used toilet back at the Hyuuga mansion.

'Hm? What's this?' thought the animal when it caught up on an unfamiliar scent. It was something that the Abyssinian had never smelled before. The scent did not reminded him of explosives or the toxic herbs in the research facility. Just what could this be?

With this technique the animal is capable of figuring out of the person is perhaps an evil intentioned character. Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the brawler is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. If an opponent comes to a brawler at a bar, and attacks with a sword, or a club, the brawler gains the urge to dodge to the left, or to the right, where they are capable of reacting before the action is completed. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a “D” Class user that knows this technique can not use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.

[Solus]

A

lready purple stains started to gather on the body where the blood gathered. The skin was already white and the body was as stiff as a board in the position it had been in for this long. Already the temperature had dropped to the ambient temperature. Clearly it had been there for a while. Not surprising since it had been the day before yesterday when the scene had been found. There was dark skin under the womans fingers, as if she had clawed at something to keep herself safe. On her clothes you found a single thick jet black hair. It was straight, about an index finger in length. An interesting find. The follicle was sadly missing. As soon as you touched the wound a few well-developed maggots fell out. The flies had clearly not wasted any time. With these you could narrow the time to between 60 and 50 hours ago. Between midnight and dawn the day before yesterday, the day they were found. This meant that when they were found they had only been dead for a few hours at least.

The wound was quite jagged, as if the one who made it had to stab and tear several times, about four or five times. It was post mortem however. Her neck had been broken first. Whomever did this had really been angry to go at a corpse like this after already killing her. Apart from that there was little to this corpse. She had no items on her. Not a big surprise since she was in evening dress.

Outside

The old man inhaled sharply, looking you over. ”Yeah you outsiders. That filthy immigrant did it I tell you. Does not even work. All he does is poach or something. You must have seen the shack he lives in as you came in, right outside the palisade north of town.” He turned around finally, leaning on the handle of his rake. ”Now off you! I have nothing to say to you you filthy job stealer! I bet you are already looking at which job to take over aren’t you? Now Shoo! SHOO! Off you go. Find another town to rape.” He said, an angry look in his eyes. Your byakugan revealed an irregularly beating heart and several signs of aging. It was just some old man who was still in quite good shape for his age, but overall he was still very much aging.


Toshio

As Toshio smelled he noticed that the smell actually went somewhere. There was a trail starting at the door. More of the smell was wafting in from upstairs. There it went straight through the master bedroom to the shutter in front of the window at the end of the room. The shutter was now closed but maybe the smell continued beyond it? Blood was smutched around the latch, clearly indicating that it had been closed long after the robbery. Probably from Bluebart and his deputy as they closed up the house.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai reviewed what he knew for now. Someone strong entered in through the front door. The father of the residence answered the door and was shortly bashed against the wall hard enough to definitely cause a break in the skull. Then the assailant tossed the heavy table onto the fourteen year old girl and left her to expire. This unknown subject then made it upstairs and killed the woman by snapping her neck then gutted her repeatedly. Then on the way back out grabbed the body of the father, leaving behind just an eyeball.

Taking a second to explore the broken neck a little further as he bagged and tagged the stray long black hair. Even though the root was gone so no DNA match, it still narrowed down the suspect pool. What he was looking for in the broken neck was the signs of ligature marks. He wanted to know if it was a weapon or bare handed. And then determine the dominant hand that caused the broken neck.

The motive for this still eludes Kyodai but that was the next part. He needed to find some evidence of any body having problems with the parents. Also Kyodai noted he should compare how the daughter looks compared to photographs of the father. Because the Mother was the focus of rage but the father was the one taken. Father is most likely dead but the possibility of survival is remote but could have happen. Other notes Kyodai made for himself was to compare directionality and to look at the rest room for even with all this blood the scenes are too clean. Whoever did this should have been covered in blood.

[Minoru Hyuuga]

'Here it comes' thought the male as the older guy turned around to face him. "Yeah you outsiders. That filthy immigrant did it I tell you. Does not even work. All he does is poach or something" told the man.

"You must have seen the shack he lives in as you came in, right outside the palisade north of town." informed the male. He turned around finally, leaning on the handle of his rake.
'Uh oh' realized Minoru when he shifted his byakugan a little. The man had an irregular heart beat that was often seen at angry old people.

"Now off you! I have nothing to say to you you filthy job stealer! I bet you are already looking at which job to take over aren't you? Now Shoo! SHOO! Off you go. Find another town to rape." shouted the guy.

"Have a nice day" replied the young man as he went away. He rolled his eyes once he was sure the guy could not see him. But what the guy had told him made him think.
The Chuunin glanced towards the skies. His avian animal companion was sitting at the top of a chimney.

'That house looks empty. I think I'll check the house with the straw roof. Quite sure I saw some smoke coming out of the chimney' decided the male.
He went towards the said house while keeping an eye out for suspicious activities. If the black-eye guy was not hindered, he would knock at the door.



Toshio:


'Hm?' thought the animal as he noticed something odd. A trail of the scent was starting at the door. Toshio went towards the door and inhaled some more air.
He noticed that the scent trail was going up the stairs. The animal continued after making sure there was nobody or nothing suspicous there.

His nose lead him to the master bedroom. The Abyssinian followed the trail until he reached its end. The creature was now in front of the window at the end of the room. The shutter was now closed and Toshio could not open it.
He noticed the blood that was smutched around the shutter. The animal decided to go back downstairs.

It did not take him long to find Kyodai. "Come with me!" shouted the Abyssinian while touching his right leg with his paw. But for the male, it would sound like a string of meowing noises.
The animal hoped his owner would be back soon. He was able to understand him a lot better.

A

round the neck you could still see the bruises. The imprints themselves had been lost, instead by now replaced by big black and blue blotches as the blood had collected under the skin in the squeezed areas. It still revealed that whomever had done this had large hands. Both sides of the neck were broadly and equally bruised, implying that the attacker had used both hands to kill the victim. It was however too late now after the time of death to clearly determine a left or right handed attacker.

Minoru:
”I’ll have a nice day when you have left!” The man shouted after you as you left before grunting and then turning around and continuing to tend to his roses. At least you would probably not have to interact for a while with this malcontent.

The other house greeted you warmly with the smell of cherry pie. It came wafting from around the corner. A quick rap on the door would be swiftly answered by an old lady. She smiled at you grabbing your wrist and pulling you inside. ”Hello dearie, welcome welcome! You are one of the ninja aren’t you? Here have a seat!” She said, patting a chair as she turned a cup onto it’s foot, immediately filling it to the rim with hot tea from a pot simmering above the fire. Next to said fire was an oven in which probably something was baking as there were multiple cherry pies cooling on the window sill. ”Terrible business is it not? Do you know already who did it?” She asked, her voice overflowing with curiosity.

[Minoru Hyuuga]

A scent of cherries tickled his nose. It did not take long before an older woman appeared in the doorway. The village woman then took his wrist and pulled him inside the house.
Minoru was a bit surprised since he did not know her. Not to mention how curious she was compared to the old man.

"Hello dearie, welcome welcome! You are one of the ninja aren’t you? Here have a seat!" told the female while she patted a chair.
The young man sat down while she filled a cup with hot tea. He noticed the numerous cherry pies that were cooling at the windows ill.

'No wonder I could smell cherries' concluded the Chuunin. "Terrible business is it not? Do you know already who did it?" inquired the possible witness.
The male noticed the curious tone her slightly raspy voice had. 'Aha...she's in for the gossip I see' thought the black-haired guy.

He pretended to take a sip of his tea while thinking of a reply. Gossipy women were something the guy didn't really like. However, they were usually more observant than the average person.
'Maybe I can play this to my advantage. Especially since she live so close to the murder scene' pondered Minoru.

"I am a shinobi, thank you for asking. We're actually missing a crucial part of information. I thought maybe you could give me a hand" started the young man.
He tried to keep his voice as earnest as possible. It would make things a bit easier for both of them.

"I was wondering...were you here last night? I was wondering if you saw or heard something weird last night. I'm sure a bright woman like you would have noticed that straight away" continued the Chuunin.
He was honest about the compliment, but he did not drink the tea. The guy knew that numerous plants could be used for fatal concoctions disguised as tea.

The black-haired male would look at the woman despite having near 360 degree vision. His byakugan would see her chakra network and how strong it was. Any body configurations would be noticed as well.
His doujutsu was able to see how older her insides were. Was she as old as she sounded like or was it a disguise?

Effect: This extraordinary special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.

Description: The creature can detect opponents within 10-meters by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 20-meters; if downwind, it drops to 5-meters. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at x2 the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk, can be detected at x3 normal range. When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a movement to note the direction of the scent. Whenever the creature comes within two meters of the source, the creature pinpoints the source’s location. When finding herbs and animals (random), scent may improve searching for them (must have Scent of object previously before searching). Learning “D” Rank allows the user to search for common things, while “S” Rank for nearly impossible. Each rank user learns increases chance of finding by 2% for the rank of herb, and increases per rank thereafter. Description: An animal has a keen sense that no other person has. With this type of keen sense it can read one's body type, feel the intentions emitting from the body, as well as get an understanding of everything. It doesn't matter what a person does, the way they stand, how calm they are, how much they move, how they walk, or even the heartbeat of the person, an animal is able to sense the type of person they are. With this technique the animal is capable of figuring out of the person is perhaps an evil intentioned character. This will help the animal feel threatened or feel more at eased, or to perhaps not even care or feel if one is perhaps suspicious in some way.

Sekondo nen (Second sense) [10 + 20].

Effect: The brawler depending on the rank of the technique the user is capable of reacting through subconscious mind against attacks against the user in different manners such as being flanked, and from behind. This technique makes the brawler incapable of being surprise attacked.

Drawback: The user may only learn this technique by the class that they are. This means that in order to learn the “C” Rank version they must be “C” Class, if they wish to learn the “B” Rank version they must be “B” Class.
Description: A technique where the subconscious mind, where the subconscious body reacts just as they are attacked while flanked or while their back is turn. The body reacts in such a way to where they are capable of withstanding so much. This technique makes it where the brawler is incapable of being surprised attacked, a sudden second sense kicks in as their body screams out to them yelling at them telling them to move, duck, dodge or anything else within that manner. If an opponent comes to a brawler at a bar, and attacks with a sword, or a club, the brawler gains the urge to dodge to the left, or to the right, where they are capable of reacting before the action is completed. This works on whenever they are being attacked. This technique however has a major flaw. The user is capable of dodging only whenever the opponent's class is equal or lower to that of the rank of the technique they know. This means that a “D” Class user that knows this technique can not use this against an opponent that is “C” Class or higher.
Limit: Must be a brawler.

Kyodai thought for a minute then decided to look at what the cat wanted him to. He inspected the area the cat has found. Noticing the blood smudge around the shudder was curious. He looked closely at both the mechanism of the shudder and analyzed the blood smudge for directional clues and also as he was working he was figuring out a way to tell the timeline when what blood landed where. Maybe he could also figure out which bloo belonged to who.

learly the woman seemed to hang on to every word you said, clearly not so much as to be of assistance, but to milk you of whatever piecemeals of information you had, so she could pass them on. ”Ooooh? Information? What kind of information?” the woman asked as she sat down opposite of you. ”Where I was last night? I was sleeping of course, it is just me and kitty here you see. I wonder where that cat is though, have not seen him all day. Maybe you could keep an eye out dear? I said it to Jenny yesterday, I said ‘see what this village has become of! It is growing so enormously and quickly, I cannot even find my cat back is what I said.’.” She said, nodding astutely as she recanted her statement to a so far unknown third person from yesterday with great sincerity.

”I am an old lady young man, I go to sleep early and rise late. I haven’t noticed a thing.” So far she did not seem to lie. When it came to seeing her insides (dirty you, spying on old ladies’s insides) you saw the organs of an old woman and many indicators of old age.

Kyodai Hyuuga

The smudge on the shutter was interesting, it was not so much a print, but it was clearly a smear of some kind and it continued beyond the window. From what you could see the invader had opened the shutter after the deed, leaving the house from the side. From what you remembered from outside this window was only two meters above ground, easy jumping distance. Also if you remembered correctly the trees between this house and the thatched house on the left (where Minoru currently was) would sufficiently obscure the vision. So whatever trail there was, be it scent or tracks lay outside.

[Kyodai Hyuuga]

Kyodai eyed the smudge until it gave up it's secrets then looked out to beyond the window. Before even climbing out he looked at the dirt for tracks or foot prints. Besides looking at the ground though he looked at the various vegetation and wildlife for the appearance of disturbances. Those could give him a trail as well. Also while he was at it he took note of the soil composition as another indicator of who caused this. Any impressions would give him approx. weight and maybe height.

Kyodai looked back to the cat, still feeling odd talking to someone else's familiar. "Can you track scent?" He didn't know what the response would be but it would be helpful. Other things he was looking for and noting was signs of further blood smudges. Kyodai had a basic timeline and path through the house now it was to follow the criminal out of the house. Thinking on this he probably should reconnect with Minoru before going to much further.
