Umbral Personage [Star's Epic]

There are many mysteries in this world, not the least of which is the mysterious force which flows through it, Chakra.

Those who know a thing or two about Chakra know that many of the more specialized arts are kept as well-guarded secrets, and only a fewer masters in all the known world are able to teach them. Calynn and Caela of the Hidden Cloud Village certainly knew this, and had set about to find a teacher who could provide them with one of the more cryptically kept techniques.

Thanks to their intense knowledge of jutsu lore, they would know that there was at least one ninja who knew those techniques, off in the distance land of Yuki no Kuni. They knew not yet how to find him, or whether he would offer them tutelage, but at least they had a lead.

Thw twins were ready for yet another adventure. Hungry for knowledge and power the twins had set a new goal, but this time - unlike the previous times - the goal was much harder to reach, many had failed in the past or even gave up , but they believed in themselves. They didnt have much to go on but it was better than nothing at all. Their first step would be to reach the land of Yuki no Kuni, so before doing that they had to get ready for the travel.

Packing everything they could fit in just a single backpack each, the twins brought with them all their items - they didnt want to take any chances, dressed with their usual family cloak arodned with red flowers on top of its white color ,aswell as black leather boots and gloves , the twins would give their goodbies to their friends - to let them know they would not be back for a while. They didnt know where this adventure would lead them but they were excited about it.

The wonder twins had begun their journey, but they had far from ended it. Walking along the road towards the coast, one couldn't help but wonder; how would they get to the island nation of Yuki? It was not a long sail, true, but it was a sail nonetheless. Did they have access to a ship? Would a kindly captain on the coast offer them free passage, in return for something?

They came upon a bustling little port, where half a dozen ships were docked. It was mid afternoon, and people were hustling to load and unload things, the market was open and the pubs were getting ready to host the incoming sailors. What path would the pair take to garner their passage?

After all the preparations were done the twins had a plan in mind. To get across the sea and reach the island they needed a boat, and what better place to look for a boat than a port? they were sure someone there was looking to make some extra money on the side for an extra "baggage" of two people, or even get a good cabin in a decent ship at a higher price and relax on the journey toward the island, but what they needed to do was get there first and  see what the fate would bring them.

As the twins walked through the city toward their destination they would see the city in the peak of its activity. Every business was open and many people w ere going back and forth buying selling or moving stuff going on about their day making the city  come to life. They liked their city, it gave them many opportunities and they met alot of good people they got to be friends with. As they kept walking they finally reached the dock with roughly a dozen ships there. Much like the previous district , this one was just as alive.

As they kept  walking , they started to look around for anyone that stood out from the bunch of people working there, someone that looked like he knew what was going on and had the information they needed. As they kept looking they saw  a big tall and muscolar man standing still on top of a box, arms crossed - shouting at three other men giving them orders about their jobs. "Lets ask him!", said Calynn. As they approached the man they would raise their hands and talk in unison making their voices echo with eachother.

"Good morning sir, we are looking to get across the sea - any chance you could point us toward the right ship or the right man ? we are looking to rent a cabin for this journey, we are heading toward the land of yuki no kuni"

They did indeed, trounce through the city, a rough, but happy port on the coast of the Jikoku-Ten Ocean. The life there was hard and meager, but worthwhile, and there was an especial earnestness in the Fulgurians who went about the work.  Certainly, there were ships bound for all over the world present, and they would catch one to their destination in good time. The specific ship which they approached first was loading large crates; perhaps 5 or 6 meters square at the base, and just as tall if not more so. They used a mechanical crane, and several men worked hard at the winch to lift the things up onto the ship. It was no passenger vessel, that was certain, but it did seem a sea-worthy craft.

The man they spoke to was tall, more than six feet, for certain, and broad in his chest, no doubt from his days of working the very ocean on which the twins wished to embark. He was not unarmed, bearing a sword on his hip, as well as a small leather pouch, whose contents were not visible to the naked eye. 

"What's that, girls?" He hollered, in a large, billowy voice. "Passage? To the Icy Isle?" He leaped down, absorbing the shock of the fall in his knees, before glancing over at his crew to confirm they were still hard-at-work loading up the ship for their voyage.

"Captain Ishmael, and you are?" He would pause briefly, accepting names, before speaking again. "We're bound for Yuki, that is for sure. However, this is no passenger craft. We've got but a small amount of room, most of which will be taken up by the crew. I'm sure I could clear out a place for you, but unless I've got some extra cash on hand to compensate the men displaced... two girls like you might have a rough time on the seas. How's this, 10,000 Ryo a piece, I get you two a little room to yourselves, you don't poke around too much, and in a few nights you're in the frozen wasteland for... whatever it is young women want with those bearded brutes called Nixians. Hows that?"

[Starnaess]

"You can call us K" Said the twins to the large man, they didnt want to give out any unnecessary information. "10,000 ryo for a cabin you say? thats a little too much for a passage on a ship thats not generally transporting people" the twins couldnt help but notice the various crates being loaded all around them, some of them you could see the insides for they were opened, perhaps they were checking the integrity of the materials they were carrying. Some of those crates had pelts... fur of various animals - some could even be used as clothes.

"You throw in a couple of those fur coats you got in those crates and you got yourself a deal sir.  Their clothing were good but if the weather there was harsher than they tought a fur coat would help them immensely. As they finished talking a gentle breeze hit the whole bunch providing the hard workers with the much needed relief of the wind, by the appearance they had been working for hours without stopping"

"We got two more questions, how long will the trip to the island take exactly ? and will you also provide us with water and food?" asked the twins, after all they needed to drink eat and perhaps get some good rest while they  were on their way to the island. If the deal with the large man was succesful the twins w ould be one step closer to reaching their goal, and that in itself made them happy.

The sailor looked down at the two girls he had been told to call K, and listened carefully to their offer. He knew that any coats he had left would be worth nothing in Yuki no Kuni - that was their origin point - so offloading them here would be rather prudent. He nodded in agreement.

"I can send someone by twice a day to drop of some fresh food and water for you two. But not sticking your nose in our business, got it? This is a top-notch trade vessel. Just relax and we'll be at the shores of Yuki in three or four days, depending on the wind we catch.

"Is this agreeable to you? I'll show you to your place." The sailor would climb aboard the ship on the gang plank, walk off to the side, and duck inside a low room, gesturing for the twins to follow. The room had a single bed in the middle, a small table, and two rough-cut chairs. There was nothing resembling a window, just a small covered lantern with some oil in it for light, and a slot in the door to let some air in, at the cost of privacy.

If the girls settled into their new quarters, in a short while the ship would launch...

"one bed and no window for 10,000 ryo? im pretty sure other ships here would offer us much more for that sum , im willing to raise the price by 1,000 ryo but we want a bigger room two bed and a window or YOU lose easy money - your call Captain - last offer." The twins had no intention to spend the next three days locked in a terrible room with no space and no window. They much rather look for another ship to go there - there would'e been plenty more captains willing to accept their money and willing to offer a better accomodation.

"Also you wont have to worry about us sticking our noses in your business, you do you, we just want to have a smooth and comfortable travel." As they were talking the twins would start looking for other captains around the port , there were plenty of people looking like one giving orders to other people, they had plenty of choice expecially on a busy day like these - many ships were docked afterall.

If the transaction went smoothly they would follow the captain onto the ship and into the room they would be assigned to. However on both their way to the ship and into the room AND while talking to the man they would look around for anything out of the ordinary or of possible value on him or any other man.

The pair of girls, intent upon finding their way to a land of harsh and cold climes, to seek the mentorship of a mysterious practicioner of the ninjutsu, and learn a near-unholy art to enhance their strength, nonetheless decided that they would fight the captain of the ship who had offered them such a room. It seemed they needed to cruise in luxury; at least for the maritime part of their journey. But, they couldn't help but notice, one of the huge crates they walked by seem to slowly sway, as if it were... breathing?

"Look, I didn't realise I was transporting a bunch of princesses across the sea. I don't think this is the right ship for you. This isn't some luxury port full of cruise liners. This is a place of work and trade. Maybe you can try your luck with some of the other captains. Not many have the gonads to sail to the Island Nation this time of year. It's a hard knock, and I'm not going to deny my good crew any more room or attention for a couple more Ryo. I want 10 grand a piece, or I'm going to move some hardworking sailors back into that little room I offered you. If you aren't going to take my offer, I want you to scram."

As the captain started rambling about rules on his ship and how the price to accomodate their requests increased, the twins couldnt help but notice something weird about one of the crates nearby. There was something fishy about this ship. Not only the captain had said that he didnt want them snooping around but he also seemed to keep looking at the crates while talking to them as if he wanted to finish this conversation quickly.

Even though the price increased, their curiosity about what was actually going on onto the ship far surpassed the cost of twenty thousand ryo. As the twins grabbed the two coats promised, they would then pull out a bag of ryo previously prepared for occasions like this. "We accept your deal, show us the room you promised and we will give you this money - we will behave until we arrive at destination." The twins had various ideas about what could be in the crate, but before jumping to conclusions they wanted to eat .
 
Since dark would be coming later on, they would use that time to sneak around the ship to find out what was actually going on on it, if opportunity presented they would even try to sneak into the captain's room to see if he had anything of worth hiding around.

The captain of the ship eyed this so-called K carefully, but ultimately accepted their money. Taking a huge purse of Ryo from them, he would go down to the storage hold and lock it in a safe, before returning to show them back to their room. Once the two settled in, the crew would continue their work, and set sail for the nation of Yuki no Kuni. 

Night, of course, would begin to fall, and darkness would settle over the sea. Would the pair dare to follow through with their devious plan?

On their way to the cabin the twins had done their best to remember every detail - what door door led to what and just how far their room was from the others. They had a very good memory after all. They were not interested in the Ryo onto the ship, but if the opportunity ever arose they would definetly take advantage of it. Their plan relied on the cover of  darkness to move around the ship unnoticed. Their first targer would be the cargo hold. They wanted to see exactly what the ship was transporting and what kind of people they were dealing with.

As they sat sail toward yuki - it took a few hours before darkness completly covered the sea making candles bright up the ship ever so slightly , definetly not enough for the few men awake to be able to see that well - especially without proper training. Their room was on the first floor of the second lower floor of the ship , the first being the deck.

On their way to their room they noticed many doors, some of them opened some of them shut. The opened ones revealed other rooms much like theirs with the workers inside of them.
The ship , atleast from the outside and what they saw seemed to be the usual four level ship - the first being the deck , second one being the worker's cabins together with a few doors labelled storage. The third and fourth it was still unknown to them but most likely cargo hold or some sort of storage room. The captain room was a separate room on the deck at the very back of the ship. Something that resembled a small house.

The twins waited a few hours for darkness to cover their tracks and as they felt ready they would slowly open the door - doing their best to avoid any strange sounds a swell as to check if  someone was checking their room. As they opened it there seemed to be noone few candles lighting their way to the corridor. It was big enough for the twins to stand side by side without bumping into eachother. The stairs to the lower floor were all the way at the end of the corridor while a few rooms ahead to their left were the stairs leading to the deck.

The workers , most likely asleep at this hour wouldnt be meddling wiht the cargo hold, atleast that was their theory - while on the deck there would always be people checking so for the twins decided it was best to head down and see what those crates  were all about, being as stealthy as possible trying not to m ake unnecessary sounds the twins would head toward the stairs leading down...

The twins had bided their time and plotted their scheme, but they were not in luck, it would seem!

As they crept through the cabin door, their stealth was limited mainly by their lack of options. True, they knew the lay of the land, and they could trace it in their minds a thousand times. And they were quiet, but they did not render themselves undetectable. A pair of guards had been stationed at their door, and when they crept out at night, one of them shouted quickly. "Aye! What do you think you're doing? Think you'd get the jump on the ol' boss? I'll have you know; 'is 12th commandment is 'sleep when you can,' and you're gonna regret not doing it! Get back in there!"

If the girls complied, the man who spoke would stay at the door while the silent man would sprint off, presumably to go inform the captain. Would "K" obey, or would they decide now was the time for mutiny?

As the twins opened their room's door they would find two guards stading there. They wnated to sneak around but the captain's lack of trust of the twins had shown to be more annoying than they had anticipated. So as their brain were looking for a quick reply time seemed to have been stopped. They thought of many answers their brain were working as fast as they humanly could. Many scenarios aviable to them, ranging from knocking out the guards , bind them with Caela's wires or even straight up kill them.

All of these options were viable but they , in the end, decided for something more peaceful. Before going berserk on the ship in order to find out what was going on the twins decided to lie to them. As they heard the guard talk ""Aye! What do you think you're doing? Think you'd get the jump on the ol' boss? I'll have you know; 'is 12th commandment is 'sleep when you can,' and you're gonna regret not doing it! Get back in there!" 

Caela would immediatly reply. "We apologize, we promised the captain we would remain in the cabin but my sister is not feeling so well. We are not used being on the sea and she has been sick for the last hour - we thought some hair would do her well. Calynn, following Caela's initiative would act as if she was sick of being on board, fake fainting on one of the guards. This ofcourse would be used as an opportunity to check for keys on their persona aswell as trying to get out of that terrible situation.

The pair would come out of the cabin, be accosted and fein illness. Certainly, the sailors made no effort to disbelieve what was said to them, but certainly they had no difficulty dismissing them. "That's your problem, get back in there!" Spoke the sailor, grabbing the sea-sick girl, and dragging her towards the room. He would extend his other arm towards the other girl and, unless resisted with sizable force, move all three of them into the room. "Be sick in there" he would say, pointing towards the chamber pot. Unless something of interest happened, he would head back out to the deck.

There were no keys or items of interest to be found...

The twins were tired of being treated like that. Their patience was running low and they knew something was fishy about this ship.  They were being too rude for people that paid to be on the ship. They clearly didnt want the twin to be around asking questions. As their curiosity far exceeded their good manners, the moment the man tried to grab Caela, she would immediatly unleash her rage onto them. As wires came out of her body she would try to wrap both of the man starting from their necks until they could barely move.

She decided to start with the necks to avoid them making any sounds, as the wires would tighten around them she would make sure to not squeeze to hard to kill them but rather make them stop breathing, immobilizing them until they passed out.

While this was going on Calynn would try to get free from the man's grasp as he was getting wrapped by the thousand of wires all around the corridor.

The man was not talented in fighting, and would bear no real resistance. The girls performed decently in their stealth, but they still had to worry about the man who ran off when they exited their room. They could hide for a time with the now unconscious sailor, but the crew would find out. They had made their choice to seek conflict on this vessel, miles away from the shore. Now, how would they deal from here?

The twins's first step would be to hide the unconscious man for the moment, as they brought him back to their cabin they would gag him up and tie him up with a few ropes already present in their cabin. They would also search on his body for anything useful before leaving him in the corner of the room far away from anything useful, unconscious and tied on a chair. This was done by Calynn.

Caela would be in the corridor looking out for anyone who might come their way. Since their room was the furthest in the corridor she would have the view of everything in front of her. As her sister finished dealing with the sailor - the pair would head toward the deck - always stealthy -  to see how many of the sailors were outside. As she peeked she would see the other man who saw them exit their room - he was coming back toward the corridor most likely patrolling the ship as a routine. He wasnt heavily armed except for a curved sword, nor did he look particularly strong but there was one thing the twins could tell about him, he was definetly drunk.

As the man entered the corridor the twins would be waiting one at each side of the entrance ready to pounce on him making him unconscious much like the other man. Caela was ready with her wires while Calynn was ready to punch kick and tackle the drunken man. Their main priority would be to make him go unconscious while making no sound.

The pair would take successfully incapacitate the man who was guarding them, and tie him to a chair with small amounts of rope they managed to scavenge. Of course, the pair knew almost nothing of ropes, so their binding would be of questionable integrity at its very best, but for the moment it would do the job.

Standing guard, they would see three men incoming, one of whom was the captain with whom they had arranged passage earlier that day. He looked angry, and rolled up his sleeves as he came down the hall. The two men behind him, both of whom carried crossbows, stopped at the end of the passageway. The walking space was about 20 meters long, 3 meters wide with the door at the center. On one side was a wall, which included the door to the bedroom, on the other was a rope fence and a long drop off into the drink.

"These ain't no albatrosses, boys." The captain said to the people behind him, and as he did, two more crossbow-wielders came out, on the far side of the hall, leaving few options. for escape. "Look, 'K.'" He said. "I'm willing to work out a deal. You girls shut your traps and head on back into that room, and I'll dump you at the nearest island come dawn. Don't, and I can guarantee you will not make it off this goddamn ship in one piece. You hear me?"

As the twins saw the other men grouping up they would recognize the captain being one of them, the two men behind him would have crossbows on them. The twins were not fazed by them nor by the captain's words. More than anything they were getting annoyed by their presence and their manners. Shortly after two more men would join the group that were threatening them. The twins would immediatly smile as they heart the captain's threats, for they knew it was time to have some fun.

"Captain, you seem to be misunderstanding something" said the twins echoing their voices with one another. As they finished their sentence, both twins would begin to switch their stance, focusing on their inner senses they would get their inner beast take over them as their facial features would begin to change. Their skin would become more and more feral , almost animal like aswell as their pupils would shift becoming those of a wolf. Calynn would also feel her blood pump faster as the adrenaline would start to kick in. With her smile growing and growing she would start to get more and more excited about the situation.

"The one that is going inside the cabin together with your other man is going to be you. We are going to show you what the meaning of true power means."

The twins were standing one next to the other with Caela being in front and calynn being roughlyfour steps behind on her left.

Caela's wires were itching to come out, making her whole body seem as if it was trembling , unable to hold them inside any longer. As she let out all of the wires she begun to extend some in the attempt to grab the five men and incapacitate them, the twenty meters of range were nothing compared to all the wires she had inside of her. Not all of her wires would be used for this however, she would keep some for defense - both hers and her sister's, making them wiggle in the air ready to stop anything being thrown at them.

Calynn ,instead, would put her hands behind her back making it seem as if she was going through her items in her butt pack - when instead she was creating  five kunais out of her own body to throw  toward the men, one for each of them - the kunai would look just as if they were normal kunais. the moment the kunai would hit the men or touch anything on them or near them she would make them explode.

Effect: Creates a sword out of earth and stone.

Drawback: Cannot function in environments without ready access to soil and stone.
Description: A ninjutsu which does not require the forming of hand seals, though an equivalent amount is still deducted from a user's chakra and hand seals per round. So long as there is earth to draw upon, the user is capable of coaxing it into the shape of a one-handed long sword which rises from the ground and remains there until withdrawn by hand. Though sharp enough to cut and stab, the craftsmanship of this fake sword is shoddy and the material is brittle - soil and stone. It is not the equal of a true sword crafted from fire and steel, granting no bonus to damage. The weapon will break if struck with any force greater than 10 armor points, and crumble to dust after 12 seconds or once broken or actively dismissed.

Description: The user channels a "D" Ranked amount of additional chakra into a precise point within a Semblance Forged weapon they are currently touching. This destabilizes the otherwise solid construction, weakening it in the precise fashion such that on any solid impact the weapon will shatter violently. A relatively small explosion of chakra covers a one-meter range with a power of 40 Armor Points in Explosive Damage, and also spreads stone shrapnel across an additional two meters which has a power of 10 Armor Points in Slashing Damage. This tactic may be used both in melee and as a projectile.
