Okami Kyoudo. An old man of great stature now within the village. ANBU, and rich. Yet there was something that he desired above all else in the world. Complete mastery over the element of lightning. An appointment with the village council had been easy to arrange for someone of high standing within the village. They held he secret to his power, but would not give it up easily.
As the man walked through the huge double doors into the village council building, he found huge lights glaring down on him. Shielding his eyes from the light with a single hand, the man looked around the room. There was a great long desk, magnificent and grand, lined up lined up to completely surround and overwhelm him. The front and top were covered in strange designs, the likes and quality of which he had never seen.
The man stared blindly at the folks behind this great desk, probably on thrones each and every one. He glanced around at them, but none were distinguishable, all were hidden. The fancy blinding lights of the room did not extend so far as to light them. For they wished to remain in darkness. Finally one of them spoke, yet it was not words. A shrieking cackle, likely forcing its way out from an old hag with nothing but money, time, and a cane on he hands. A wretched bag of bones not fit to live, yet remained alive through the heritage and past she possessed. "Who are you to void your throat of such vulgarities. Spiders and cockroaches lie in wait in, deep inside that filthy neck. They pluck the strings of your vocal cords to the tune of a donkey being mutilated and skinned alive, by the sound." Okami would burst out. He would seem to rise up above the darkened fiends and they seemed to shrink at his voice. Yes, the power of command this old man had honed from the day he was born, his parents slain. His voice had the years of countless battles and horrers behind it. This man would suffer no hag.
There would be a pause as the old man allowed the council to regain their composure. He was after all asking a service of them, it would do no more good to keep poking them with a stick. "Now grant me my power or I shall take my Ryo and leave, your choice." Okami would finish. The task of giving the seal was no small one, but for these people it would mean little. They had little else to do, and what they truly wanted was the Ryo.
Finally a man spoke. It was probably the only useful one of the bunch, he one who would apply the seal. It as obvious, for he was hissing from the centre of those desks, and all seemed to quiet when he spoke. "Hmm, we could use a little entertainment. No one has dared to survive in that horrid forest for years. We may allow you the privilege of this seal..." And it went on like that for some time until Okami was finally allowed a place in the forest.
All in all it was a terribly overcomplicated meeting, one that could be resolved with a quick passing of words and an exchange of money. This is what Okami believed. None of these looming monstrosities that dared to call themselves powerful would have any effect on such a man as himself. They could loom and blind and cackle to their hearts content, never would Okami's heart be swayed.
Soon he would enter the forest, and there his wits, his strength, and his very life would be tested.
(Got Hotoka's permission, going into forest now. ^_^)
