After using the water dragon technique for the third time and blowing another large volume of water up into the air, Hamura decided that it had been enough for today. After all, he did not want to alert anyone to what he was doing down at the bottom of the cliff, as the guards were roughly thirty meters or more above him. Even though they would be quite far above him, chances were that they had heard him already, though he figured this was fine for the most part. That was since he passed by them as he started scaling the cliff side in order to get down to the bottom a bit faster.

While he could have chosen to go down by leaving through the main gate and walking around the cliff, Hamura was not the kind of person to waste time when there was really no point in doing so. If scaling the cliff had been something he believed would have been hard or potentially dangerous for him, he would have refrained from doing so altogether. In that regard, he was still being rather wise about his use of time, and would not mind wasting some if it meant making his way down without encountering any trouble. In the end, Hamura was not one for being wasteful, though he was also not the kind to be stupid when it came to his life.

With the way things were now, he was rapidly climbing up towards becoming one of the finer Shinobi the Hidden Cloud had to offer, and in so doing was all the closer to proving to himself and his late grandfather that he had it in him to become a capable Shinobi. That said, he wasn't planning on letting it go to his head, as there was still a very long way to go before he could actually be recognized as a strong Shinobi in his own rights. Luckily, that was something he was very well aware of, and what kept him grounded instead of elevating him above others.

(Part 2)

During his training as a Shinobi however, there had been a few things that he had more or less been neglecting, things that some might consider to be rather basic. Regardless of whether it was in fact a basic thing or not, the fact that he had allowed himself to go without properly training it made him into a rather lousy ninja. This was because he had never actually put any additional effort into his jumping skills, but had still managed to find time for his elemental ninjutsu and even to sit around meditating, sometimes for hours without end.

For Shinobi, fundamental things such as knowing how to leap about from tree to tree in order to not have to touch the ground when mines might have been placed or other traps may be near ground level were simply a must. However, since Hamura could easily leap for a good ten meters straight, he had never really seen the use in being capable of jumping any further. This was for the very simple reason that he could already go far enough and that jumping was not exactly something he felt like a smart move to pull in combat.

When airborne, there was only so much one could do as they had no legs on the ground to aid them in a dodge or other form of counter. As such, he considered being off of the ground with both legs to be one of the worst things he could possibly pull in combat. On the other hand, knowing how to jump better and more accurately was not something that simply served no purpose whatsoever. When not in combat, it could serve him in making his way around a tricky landscape a lot more easily, not to mention that actually training himself to become better at it would not tire him out as much during travels.

(Part 3)

Looking up at the cliff wall, he used his observant eyes to find a path back up, which was not nearly as easily said as done, something he could tell on first glance. Still, he figured that this would be a good training of his skills. From what he could see, there were a few places that had decent footing, though the way up would make for a slower ascension. Then there was the portion that had a lot worse footing, but if utilized properly would make for a far quicker ascension to the top of the cliff. Not really enjoying the way the "quick" route looked, Hamura decided to go with the slower route.

Jumping onto a large rock, he took his first leap onto the cliff by placing his feet on a small ledge. As it was big enough for his entire foot to rest upon it, he could even take a short break there if he wanted to without fear of falling. Once he landed however, he had already figured out where the next stepping stone would be as he made his way over to it in little to no time at all. Landing yet again, the next location was most likely going to be a bit more tricky than the first two. This was because of the nature of the location, a small tree growing out of the cliff itself.

Whether it was going to be capable of holding his weight or not was somewhat of a gamble, though one Hamura had prepared himself for. Reaching into his pockets, he took a Kunai into both hands since he had no actual use for his hands while jumping anyway. This way, if the tree could not sustain his body weight, Hamura would be able to use his Kunai as a means of slowing his decent or by using them as hooks to hang from, whichever of the two was applicable in his situation. That was, however, if it was incapable of sustaining him, and that had not yet been proven or disproven.

(Part 4)

Upon making the leap, his right foot landed on the tree, which started creaking a bit, but did not rip out of the cliff wall itself, which was quite honestly a good thing. Without wasting too much time, Hamura set off from the tree and made his way to the rock jutting out about four meters above the tree. Once he landed there, he was quite happy that the tree had not broken, as the idea he had with his Kunai was not exactly THE best idea he had ever had. It was a last resort at best, though one he was quite confident in regarding its workings.

In his own opinion, having the confidence to pull through was almost as important as the knowledge of how to do so. He had actually seen people who knew how to do something fail because they did not believe in themselves, just like he had seen a large margin of academy students because they had every possible bit of faith in their own ability, but lacked the skill to make it happen. While the latter was the case way more often than the former, considering how most of the world had too much confidence and not enough to back it up with, Hamura had learned to suppress that part of him.

Overconfidence had been the downfall of many, and it would not become his. With that thought in mind, he set off and moved to the next ledge, and the next one after that. Slowly but surely, he had started scaling the cliff wall and made his way to the top. Though there was still a way to go, he was rather proud of his earlier analysis regarding having to figure out which was the safest way up. Estimating that he had about six similar sized jumps left before he made it safely to the top, he could likely do it in three if he were to disregard his own safety and bet on his skill alone.

(Part 5)

Since he had already established that he would not be placing his own health at risk for the sake of silly things such as overconfidence and sheer pride, he would stick to the six leaps he still had to do in order to get to the top. Jumping up, he landed on ledge number six, at which point he gently turned himself around in order to see just how high he had gotten. Had he suffered from a fear of heights, chances were that this would have been the moment in which he lost his footing and fell to his death in a very un-elegant manner.

Looking out across the canyon that would lead straight out to the ocean, the beach beneath him was starting to look a lot smaller than it had before. Still, the way the sunlight danced across the watery surface was an enchanting sight to see for those that could appreciate nature's beauty. Of this, Hamura was quite capable, as he would always enjoy the creations and sights of nature over those created by the hands of humanity. Knowing of the things that had to make room so humans could live in luxury, he could never truly appreciate the things his kind made.

Regardless, he could still see the beauty in craftsmanship and such, it was just that he would always pick nature's creations over those of man. Figuring that he had been hanging around sightseeing for long enough, he turned himself back around and started heading over to the next couple of ledges. The more he tried it all out, the more easily his leaping just happened. Figuring that this was because his body was slowly adjusting to it all, it might not take him a whole lot longer before he truly got a hang of things.

(Part 6)

Just two leaps away from the top, Hamura made his way to the one that would take him almost all the way to the top, though like Icarus flying too close to the sun, so did things take a turn for the worse for Hamura. As he placed his foot on the footing, it suddenly started crumbling and breaking apart, thus removing his footing almost entirely as he started sinking. Rapidly pulling his other leg up in an attempt to place it on the portion that had not yet crumbled and seemed sturdier, it seemed this too was not something that was going to happen.

As that portion also gave way and fell down, Hamura would certainly follow. Instinctively, he slammed the two Kunai he was holding straight into the cliff wall. Sinking in only a little bit, both blades had been anchored in deep enough to be more than capable enough of holding his weight and more. The problem however was that he was still hanging there, having quite some distance between him and the floor, and only little over two meters between him and the top of the cliff. At this point, it turned into the kind of situation where Hamura had to either give up his training or make one last attempt at succeeding.

If he wanted to, he could just channel chakra to his feet right that instant and walk up the rest of the distance vertically, though that was not the thing he had trained himself to do. The goal was to finish up his training, and that was going to be his first intention right now. If things truly took another turn for the worse, he would need to abort and do things the safe way, though he would refrain from doing that until he really had to.

(Final Training Post: Part 7)

Forcing his body up with one fierce tug from his arms, he raised his body up just above where the two Kunai entered the cliff wall. After that, he would place both of his feet on them and set off one last time, this time going straight up to the top of the cliff. Knowing that the two meters he still had to go were more than within the distance he could jump, he angled himself just enough to land just over the edge. Soaring through the air for a moment, it was not longer after the jump that he landed on solid ground.

Feeling rather done with leaping up cliffs, he just remained where he was, laying on his back and looking up at the sky as he slowed his breathing. Looking up into the blue sky, he regained his composure as he thought about the training he had done today, and how he was likely going to have to try it again at some point if he was to further improve himself. Next time, he would likely need to take the more difficult way up, even though the one he had tried now had been difficult enough.

Figuring that the next time could be as close or as far away as he wanted it to be, he decided that there had been enough jumping practice for at least a week or two and that there were other things that deserved a bit of attention. To name a few, his throwing could use some fine tuning if he was to make better use of his projectiles, of which he had plenty but hardly ever got to use. Now that he was up at the top, it wouldn't be all that far to the training grounds, so there was really nothing keeping him.

This causes the hips and shoulders to twist into the throw forcing the body's power into the throwing arm. Now done with his jumping for the time being, Hamura had ventured into the training yard for the first time in his entire career as a starting Shinobi of the Hidden Cloud. The fact that he had made no attempt in going out of the village and doing his training where no one could see his growth was because this was not something he needed to hide. After all, every Shinobi was capable of throwing Shuriken and Kunai, some even had the skills required to do the same thing with Senbon. The only difference was that some were just better at it.

Remembering the stance he had learned in the academy quite well, he put both feet in a ninety degree angle with a small distance between one another. From this basic stance, throwing projectiles was a lot easier than when one was running around or just standing up straight, which was why the academy still taught it to their youngsters. While most trained Shinobi would no longer utilize the basic stance once they had gotten more adept at wielding their weapon of choice, it was still a routine thing Hamura wanted to get right.

That was because every single weapon style had a basic stance from which most other attack forms sprang forth. The same had been the case with the weapon style demonstrated by Ryutatsu, which required a basic sword stance. Reaching into his pockets, he pulled out a few Shuriken as he got ready to throw his weaponry at the target in front of him. Since he knew how to throw a projectile already, as he had done so many times in the past when using Ninjutsu seemed unwise, for some reason he felt like his proficiency was going to change today.

When throwing by the blade, grip the item at the end of the blade with the thumb parallel with the blade. The rest of the fingers curl against the opposite side.

Holding the weapon rather tightly, he made sure to abide by the rules he had been taught in the academy. Since it was the basic stuff that people liked to forget about or simply pretend like they never knew about it in the first place when they chose to improvise, the young Shinobi had made sure not to let this happen to him. Whenever he did things, he wanted to make sure that he did it right, and while that meant that things would at times need to be improvised upon, the basics would have to at least be there. That was why he was keeping his weapon centered, his gaze locked on his target.

Since his feet had already slipped into the basic throwing position, Hamura was ready to go about tossing more than just the one projectile he was holding onto now. With his eyes locked, he tossed the projectile at the mark, hitting it in the black lining that surrounded the yellow bull's-eye. While this felt like it was more or less a nearly perfect shot, it was not enough for him yet. Taking out two Kunai from the quick loaders located under his wrist guards, he tossed them at the marks standing next to the one he had just thrown at. Sticking both of them in the red center, Hamura reached for the last two bladed projectiles in his quick loaders.

In the same swift motion, he tossed them both at the center mark, hitting one another in flight moments before they would strike the mark. As they did, the were angled to the side just enough to both be able to sit in the bull's-eye together while knocking out the projectile that had only barely scratched the red center of the board. Continuing this process until he figured out exactly how he held the weapon before throwing it into the center of the mark, he made sure to keep adjusting himself to it until he was capable of doing so without even having to really think about it.

(Part 1)

Reclaiming the thrown weapons from the mark, Hamura checked them to see if any might have been blunted. Hating it when he accidentally carried around chipped projectiles or blunted ones, he knew that taking care of his equipment before going on any mission was an important thing to do. Finding that none of his weapons had been chipped, only one of them showed signs of losing sharpness, which had likely been why it had been slightly less balanced in flight. Normally Hamura was rather on point with taking care of his stuff, but lately he had been more occupied with other stuff.

Placing all of his things back in the quick loaders under his wrists, Hamura decided that the first stop now would be going by home. There, he would replace the blunted Kunai and take a sharp one back with him, as well as take the first steps towards unblunting the edge with a whetstone. Sharpening was something not everyone was capable of, as some ran the risk of taking too much off of the bladed edge, thus further unbalancing the projectile and make it less effective and accurate when thrown.

By the time he returned home, it turned out that while he did have some sharpened weapons laying around, he no longer had any usable whetstones laying around. This meant one thing, he had to go out and get some new ones. Luckily for him, he was not exactly the richest person around, but he had everything he needed in order to make a decent and honest living, and purchasing a new whetstone or two was nothing he needed to worry himself with. In fact, he could potentially live a lot richer than he did now, but felt like it would be a waste of the money.

(Part 2)

Now that he was home, he made sure to leave the vast majority of his money behind in his house, having no real reason to carry it all with him. Having no real place for it, he put it under a loose plank beneath his bed. Figuring no one was going to come into his home, let alone start looking around for his money, it was as good a place as any. Once he had put his money in, he put the bed over it again, resting one of the legs on top of it so no one would be any the wiser. At least, none of the less clever burglars would find it.

With that, he made sure to put his newly gained books from the Winterguest collection on his shelve, next to the book called the mental acumen. Glad that he had found two more volumes from this encyclopedia set regarding nature studies, psychology and survival, he would be able to further his knowledge in those fields even further than he already could without them. Truly, he had been quite lucky with all of the things he had found recently, as they kept things interesting enough for him to keep trying to better himself.

Technically, now would be no different, as he was planning on going out into the marketplace in order to do just that. While it wasn't exactly bettering himself in the sense of potency and skill, it would better him in the sense that he could take care of his own weaponry again, and that in itself was also worth something. With that thought in mind, he took only the bare minimum with him as he headed out through the front door and went over to the marketplace, followed by the echoing cry of Hiroto.

(Part 3)

Upon arriving at the marketplace, it seemed that everything was just going the way it usually did. It was crowded, people were yelling, haggling and having fun shopping, which would imply that it was a day just like any other. That said, it was only to those that had eyes and hearing as well developed as Hamura that they would be able to see past all of that and take note of the less acceptable things going on. Among the people that were actively spending their hard earned money on groceries and other things from the marketplace were some youngsters, like no older than sixteen years of age with loose hands.

Deciding to keep an eye on them, he wanted to establish whether they had been trained as Shinobi, if they actually came from the village or had come with some merchant that wanted to make some quick money by employing the services of nimble fingers or if they were just some local group of street thugs looking for some quick cash. Figuring that they would most likely move around him as he was only a child that they believed wouldn't pack more than his allowance, it made it that much easier just to walk around in close proximity and not seem like a threat.

This in turn allowed him to keep a close eye on where their hands were going, seeing that they slipped into quite a few pockets and took out whatever they could without getting caught in the act. Truth be told, as someone who had some pretty nimble and nifty fingers himself, he was quite impressed with their stealthiness and subtlety. Believing that he might even be able to pick up a thing or two, the goal was to eventually take them out of commission, and for that he needed to know exactly how many were operating in this area and what they were capable of.

(Part 4)

Noticing at least three, he waited around to make sure that all of the ones he had pinpointed would actually be guilty of the crime of stealing, or pick pocketing. Not really liking the fact that he had to let them take more from people than they already had, it wouldn't do him much good if he stopped a few and sent the rest into hiding, meaning they would just get to come back sometime and try again. As this was not a legitimate option, at least not to Hamura, he decided to wait around and observe just a little bit longer.

After a good five minutes, he had more or less determined that all three of them were guilty, and that there were no others involved, at least not with these youngsters. With this knowledge, it was time for him to make a move and put an end to the illegal business they were undertaking right beneath the eyes of the citizens of the village. But he knew that he had to go about it carefully as he did not want to spook any of the villagers or make them aware of what was going on when he could actually avoid it.

And so he made sure to follow them, remaining quiet and just walking about as if he were just a child browsing new things he might want to add to his list of things his parents had to buy for him. That was when he noticed that all three of them headed over to the same corner every couple of minutes, returning empty handed, meaning they most likely stashed their loot somewhere over in that direction. Figuring that this might be how he could best draw them out, he did his best to figure out a pattern to when which guy went over there to find the ideal moment to check it out.

(Part 5)

Making sure they were all still out hauling more loot, Hamura went over the wall in order to get a look at what was around the corner, finding a person sitting in the far corner while covered entirely in rags. This made it hard for him to see whether this person was a man or a woman, or how old he or she was. All he knew was that this person had either seen where the three stashed their loot, or this was the person where they had to turn in their loot for safe keeping. If things went the way he thought they might, it could even be their leader.

For the time being, he would sit tight and wait around for one of the three to come and either hide their loot or take it to the rag person. After two minutes, just as he had timed before, one of the boys came around the corner and walked straight over to the person in rags before handing down their stolen items. Watching things like coin purses and small things such as watches, rings or other jewelry being turned in, Hamura figured that they were making quite a bit of money off of such a haul. It made him wonder why they would all be dressed so poorly when they could get this much in just one afternoon.

Regardless of the implications, it did not matter to him, not really at least. At the end of the day, their reasoning did not matter as they were breaking the laws, that much was clear as day. Their reasons started to matter once they had been turned in and made accountable for their actions. Until that point, Hamura did not know and did not care about any of that, he only cared about stopping them from taking things from the civilians he was more or less sworn to protect. With a deep sigh, he figured the time for stealthiness was over.

(Part 6)

Not waiting for one of the boys to leave, he waited until he was just about around the corner before Hamura dove down right on top of him. Landing with a foot on each shoulder, he angled himself back a bit while applying all of the momentum to his feet, planting the boy with his face in the earth and knocking him out cold in one go. Figuring that this at least saved him from the pain of having to fight the young Shinobi, where he would sustain both the physical pain from a beating and the mental pain from being beaten by a ten year old boy, it seemed like the quickest way to handle this.

With that out of the way, he went towards the rag person, his hands turned into fists as the tips of his index fingers were resting against the handle of the Kunai in his quick loader. Given the fact that he could not see the kind of person that he was dealing with, what gender it was or even estimate a size, weight or age, the fact that this person made no attempt at getting up as Hamura approached was all the more intimidating. Surely this person had seen how he had effortlessly taken out one of the rag person's lackeys, though it seemed like this had not fazed him or her.

Stopping once he was at a two meter distance from the rag person, he tried his best to pick apart every little detail his eyes could find, though there was little to nothing to go on due to the person being covered up almost entirely. Asking the person to get up or get forced to do so, the mass of rags did in fact get up, moving ever so slowly as if this someone was plotting something. That was when a voice from behind him yelled out, which seemed to be one of the other boys noticing one of his own being unconscious on the floor and someone standing near to the one holding their loot.

(Part 7)

Not sure whether he should turn around and face the boy that was rushing at him or not due to being afraid of being attacked from behind by the rag person, it was when the boy made his move at Hamura that a smoke pellet was tossed to the ground. As this happened, Hamura flipped a Kunai from his quick loader and deflected the incoming strike from the boy who used an ornamental blade. Considering it to be the kind of thing one might steal from someone who had actually just bought it, he did not want to damage it too much.

And so, as he deflected it, he brought his other first at the boy's nose with as much force as he could, slamming his knuckles right into it as he placed his other hand around the handle of the ornamental blade. Only being able to do so by letting go of his Kunai, Hamura turned his body around and grasped the Kunai from the air with his free hand. Relieving the ornamental blade from the hands of the boy he had just struck, he used the momentum of the turn he made to catch the falling Kunai in order to apply it all to a kick aimed at the boy's center.

Kicking the boy to the ground with a bleeding nose, Hamura wasted no time as someone used the cover of the smoke pellet to dash forth from the rags and make an escape. Being quite capable of seeing through such antics as he too was a Shinobi, he could tell that the person that jumped out of the rags was at the very least somewhat well versed in subtlety and obscuring what was right in front of someone. Knowing that the technique used in order to escape was most likely the Body Flicker, there was only so much Hamura could do.
