Character Depth
Personality
Jinzu has always been a boy of few words. He will often avoid social conversations if possible, and if required to speak, he'll be as concise as possible. Often, during heated debates, the arguing parties will go to him for advice. Social encounters such as these cause him uncomfortable amounts of social anxiety. His rather introverted personality has made it difficult to make friends at the academy.
On any given day that Jinzu will find himself strolling the streets of Sunagakure, his almost innocent presence is often clouded by his intimidating scythe, which earns him more criticism than approval. He will often let his fellow peers verbally abuse him, almost the point where it appears he pays them no attention. His nonchalant approach to teasing and bullying often leads to alleyway ambushes that always end with him running away to avoid getting in trouble.
Jinzu has an appreciation for music, which most likely a byproduct of his Kamashi Fighting Style teacher Lilith. When listening to any sort of music in a casual setting, he will take his time to listen, and as awkwardly as he must, will take the time to show his appreciation with some sort of consumable product. The only times that Jinzu finds himself animated about something other than combat is when he listens to music, as it's become an important part of his training.
Jinzu's skin is fair and he has thick white hair that's at an unkempt length. His eyes are a charcoal black, seemingly devoid of emotion upon first impressions. He has a triangular face with soft facial features, which are often perceived as feminine. His lips are full and rest pointing upwards at the sides. His face often remains expressionless, making it difficult to read his current emotional state at first glance.
Jinzu stands at a height of 1.62 meters and has maintained a lean physique. His biceps are slightly more pronounced than most ninja his age, which are a byproduct of his scythe specialization. Always carried on his back is a traditionally styled combat scythe, which extends to a length of 1.2 meters. The scythe has a large curved blade that's roughly half the length of its plainly decorated pole.
Jinzu can be found wearing a black cloak, which conceals a tactical vest that's quite common amongst Sunagakure shinobi. Underneath the vest is a plain white shirt, which he often wears casually around his house. He also sports a surprisingly fashionable pair of black pants that his Kamashi sensei Lilith suggested would his improve footwork, while in reality, it was just a way to ensure he doesn't continue wearing dull and simplistic clothes. On his feet are a simple pair of tan closed toe shoes.
Ages: 1-2
Jinzu was born in the local hospital and registered under the name of Jinzu Sasayaku. Both of his parents were shinobi by trade, but his mother Yuki Sasayaku, unfortunately, died after giving birth to him. After her death, Jinzu's father Goru Sasayaku was later found hanging in the same room as baby Jinzu in their Sunagakure home. Baby Jinzu, was found after the horrendous events took place by the local ANBU. Once the issue was addressed that both of his parents died days after his birth, none of his extended family was willing to take him in, with the fear he may be some sort of cursed child. Throughout his early years, the elderly couple in the neighboring home willingly took care of him.
Ages: 3-7
After the first couple of years, of being adopted by the elderly couple, they starting regretting their decision. Since Jinzu's birth, he barely cried and struggled to eat any of the food provided to him. Once he was able to walk, Jinzu often paced rooms with seemingly no goal in mind, and when playfully encouraged, he'd only give a gaze that's unsettling to even the generous old couple. It was not until Jinzu was four years old when he spoke his first words. Around the time of his fifth birthday, the old man Jinzu became accustomed to calling "Papa," passed away from a heart attack. The elderly woman he called "Mama" died the following day from what appeared to be a stroke. This was the first time Jinzu felt true emotional pain, resulting countless nights of grief and sorrow.
After the death of his adoptive parents, the village gave him a place to stay by himself. Village shinobi arrived with essentials every other day, and check up on his health. The isolation felt by Jinzu only accumulated over the several years with little social interactions and basic education until his eighth birthday, which was when enrolled in the Academy.
Ages: 8-12
During the first year of his Academy training, he was quickly outcast by the boys and girls of his class. Several of his peers would tease and make jokes about how "everyone who cared about you is already dead" and "get away from me, I might just keel over." Initially, these remarks led to violent outbursts that often led to his beating, but eventually condensed to passing remarks such as "ew", "get away", "I might catch the Jinzu", and etc. He soon became rather reclusive, missing several lectures that led to his sensei dragging him to the classroom on occasion. Eventually, he just began bottling his emotions to get through the first two years of the academy. At ten years old, he left for the outskirts of Sunagakure in hope that he could get some time to himself. Unbeknownst to him, several of his academy peers followed him this time, in hopes to get some of the Ryo gifted to him for living expenses.
While reaching the outskirts of the village, the melody of a flute, one that which he had never heard before quickly entranced him. Nearing the source of the melody, the three students that followed him quickly begin surrounding him. Startled by the ambush, he attempted to run, only to catch the fist to the gut from one of the students. "Hey, since we're so far out, don't think you'll get away with a few scratches this time!" one of the boys shouts, followed by the "Yeah! Yeah!" of his blind followers. Soon after the declaration, Jinzu notices the melody he heard before has now come to a stop. The smirks on the boys quickly faded and the blood seems to rush from their faces, all three of them soon after scattering.
Before he was able to bring himself together, Jinzu was lifted by the back of his collar, bringing him face to face with a brunette woman with piercing blue eyes. "That'll be 200 Ryo" she would say, her voice almost devious. With Jinzu's weak and expressionless nod, guilt fills her after sarcastic demand. She'd place him down and remark that it was only a joke, and soon after Jinzu would take quick notice of a grandiose scythe on her back. After a short while of Jinzu's staring, the woman would say "Hmm, interested?" Jinzu responded with a nod and 200 Ryo, causing her to laugh as she introduces herself as the Kamashi trainer Lilith. "You look like you've taken enough beatings to take the training, let's just see if your wallet can keep up," she'd laugh as she leads Jinzu to the inn not far from their initial encounter.
Two years pass after with his encounter with Lilith, during this time his training gained the attention of his academy as he started to attend regularly. The numerous back alley encounters with bullies slowly began to stagnate until they'd only feel comfortable approaching in a group. While there was no reason only a couple would suffice for a successful ambush, the large scythe on his back made some of the students uneasy. Jinzu also got rather efficient at running from groups of academy bullies to the safety of the inn Lilith frequents. Once the sound of her flute reached his ears he knew was in the clear and was always ready to burn off his bottled emotions through training. Aside from his Kamashi training, he learned to harness several Wind Release techniques that would assist him later on.
