OOC- barely managed lol, but I got a quick post in before I went to school




Eyes wide, the boy would amble on forward as Abbadon led him through her sprawling underground expanse. It was a bit hard to believe that there was this much space underneath the hut at first but it was soon made obvious that this series of tunnels had been directly carved from the thick earth that surrounded the modest dwelling. The lad’s eyes were attracted to the various rooms that they passed Shoko and Abbadon would eventually come across a large concrete room. It was massive. As the two entered, the boy’s eyes would gleam intensely with anticipation as Abbadon announced it to be a training room.

Upon impulse, the young shinobi began to indiscriminately fiddle with arbitrary objects with keen interest. The vicinity was decorated with straw training dummies, weapon racks, benches, bulls-eye targets and the lot. Shoko could feel his hair stand on end as his thoughts lingered to him learning the chidori technique.

“Whoa… My fingers are itching, let’s get started then shall we?”

For reasons she couldn't understand, she was glad to see the boy in such awe of her years of collected wares. He even goes as far as to mention he's itching for this whole thing, and she can't imagine why. "Certainly!" She says, clasping her hands together as she looks over Shoko. He was an excitable boy, but in a subtle way it would seem. Where some things must go over his head, the search and thirst for strength was not one of them. If he could so greatly appreciate strength, so be it then. "How about a demonstration?"

Moving to part a good distance between Shoko and herself, Abaddon takes to one side of the room and the boy is motioned to do the same. Once a good distance apart, with no intention to cross it all the way, Abaddon smiles side ways to Shoko before turning. With her right side to him, she throws together the particular handseals needed for the technique. For the boy's benefit, she says them out loud as she tasks each. One, "Ox," Two, "Rabbit," Three, "Monkey." After the utterance, she extended her dominant arm towards the ground and slipped her other fingers over the bit just under her shoulder and above her elbow. "The seals are for the charge," she explains, pumping her chakra from the grasping hand and into the extended arm. Not long after, the chakra begins to dribble over, seeping clearly into the air around her arm. It slowly produces a static, her chakra changing nature. Soon, she's palming impossibly bright white lightning. It flickers around her person, making the light of the overheads seem dull in comparison. Her face, illuminated, turns to regard Shoko with a large grin. Although her vision rattles a bit, she fists the supersonic touch in a slashing motion, slicing a straw dummy clean in half.

Easily, she suppresses the Chidori and the booming noise of obnoxious, crackling electricity dies down to first a silent chirp, and then silence. Her robes, singed at where they had met her exposed hand, settle back against her form as she moves back to meet Shoko again. "Do you remember the seals?" She asks plainly, settling a hand on her hip as the other, previously lightning-touched hand drapes at her side. "Because that's what we'll need to work on first before you can move into wielding this bad boy.

She brings up her dominant hand, slamming her other hand over her upper arm as she brings her fist upwards as if to display muscle. Instead, she simply speaks about chakra. "As I said, the seals are mainly for the pumping of the chakra. Since you're clearly one of Raiton, as I am, it should be easy for you to manipulate your chakra into one of Lightning nature."

She takes a few steps back, gesturing widely to Shoko. "Complete the seals and then grasp the bicep of your dominant hand, and direct all your chakra to your hand. Channel your Raiton solely, until you can feel the power accumulate." She brings up her hand again, smiling. She flexes her fingers one after another in a swift, single motion. "Your fingertips may tingle."

"Ox, Rabbit, Monkey." The voice of the young shinobi hummed like a mantra several times over. The boy's roamed excitedly over Abbadon's performance, skin tingling. As the mad intensity and high voltage of the 1000 birds technique died down, Shoko's eyes would beam brightly in awe and fascination of his new mentor's technique. "Do you remember the seals?" The woman asked plainly, settling a hand on her hip as the other, previously lightning-touched hand drapes at her side. "Because that's what we'll need to work on first before you can move into wielding this bad boy.

Shoko nodded nonchalantly, before repeating his mantra out loud. Abbadon began demonstrating how to properly clutch one's arm while performing the technique. After listening to her words, the boy would make his first attempt at chidori moulding. The young shinobi would begin to close his eyes. From there onward, his hands would take over, efficiently weaving a set of handseals in a fast flurry. The boy would then begin the next stage.

The build-up of the boy's inner energy wouldn't be perfect, but it was enough. The tenketsu that made up the circuits in his body channeled the chakra to converge at one point in his dominant hand. In seconds the chakra became super-charged, it's nature dynamically shifting to an electrical current. Shoko fueled more and more chakra into his hand, adding more power but careful to not over-step his boundaries. The boy's eyes would then look to Abbadon pleadingly, in a silent query of what to do next.

Abaddon, with excitement, watches as the boy moves flawlessly through the handseals in reciprocation of her instructions. He took up his foremost dominant hand, his other four hands useless now. Curiously, Abaddon gazed over the other extremities and wondered if her could wield two more blades of birds, though she highly doubted it. The amount of chakra it takes to charge a single use alone was a great one, and two more in the same instance could easily carve a hefty portion of force from the boy's longevity. She let that thought go buried, instead taking a step back to rightfully view the young one as he manifested a small flicker of electricity. It traces his dark skin, moving around him at a smaller altitude than hers had. She smiles, chuckling a little when he looks to her.

"You're doing fantastic, just as I suspected!" She again clasps her hands together, the clap ringing through the concrete room. It was no candle to the static crackling that imbued Shoko's dominant hand. "Keep charging it up! You need it at an incredible voltage. She can't look directly into the boy's fist, and perhaps that is a good sign. His vibrancy shone through his ability with a flourish, and Abaddon almost admired his quickness to grasp the molding. She supposed, however, it wasn't all too difficult a task compared to the continuing steps. "Keep pumpin'! But don't pump too much, you'll burn off your wrist!" She laughs at the ill-told joke.

The veins in the boy's forehead bulged as he grit his teeth, muscles tense while his lightning continued to expand. Like an open circuit, Shoko would channel waves of electrical chakra like a rushing river into his right hand. The crazy torrent on energy was ecstatic, the young shinobi could already feel the surge of adrenaline flowing through him as he set to adding more and more chakra to the half-baked technique. The sound was intensifying and while Shoko was usually used to loud noises, this was nothing in comparation. The dynamic current in his hands was now a cracking maelstrom of lightning that threatened to destroy everything it touched. The boy would look to Abbadon once more on guidance.

"Great!" The towering woman clasps her hands together. "Now we can work on the speed and endurance part of the whole thing," she explains loosely as she crosses to the wall closest to them, setting up a target rig as she continues. "You'll have to concentrate your chakra, alongside the already concentrated chakra to your hand, in order to move fast and still keep the Chidori raised and strong."

Moving back to stand on the other side of Shoko, resting her shoulders against the concrete wall and bringing her folded arms over her chest. "I won't lie. The Chidori can hurt you and your chakra if you use it incorrectly, or are incapable of it in the first place. And because of the distributed concentration of chakra coupled with the speed you'll achieve, it'll make the edges of your vision blur. Make sure your target is always the priority of your sights, otherwise you may miss."

Abaddon smiles, tilting her head as she lifts a few fingers that lay over her biceps to point at the target ahead. "That's where this comes in handy. You'll learn to pick up speed at the same time you learn to endure it." Assuming he doesn't need to be ushered through it step by step, the old warrior smiles as her eyebrows furrow. "Give it a try."

Shoko smiled. Things were about to get more interesting. It was hard to make out what Abbadon was saying from the heavy mess of soundwaves that filtered roughly through his eardrums as a result of the intense turbulence emitted from his frantically buzzing right hand. Yet the boy could hear enough to know that it was his turn to work on developing enough speed and chidori endurance for the chidori technique.

The tingle in his skin was quite obvious to Shoko at that moment. After all of his effort in research and travels, he had actually made it. Shoko could hardly believe that he had met Abbadon himself, not only that but he had convinced her to teach him the secrets of the “One Thousand Birds” technique. But the young shinobi didn’t want to start celebrating yet, he still had a long way to go and the chidori technique. The fact that the jutsu was going to be difficult was a plain understatement.

Sucking in a deep breath, Shoko remembered to keep up the flow of chakra within his body as he started to jog on the spot. Slowly at first, merely having his knees jut up and down and his feet pound against the ground at a meagre pace. But then the lad would attempt to go a little faster. He had to admit, this activity was killing him slowly.

Shoko always had a little problem when it came to multi-tasking while performing a jutsu, but this was just something else. The infant of the chidori that the boy struggled to harness in his hand was growing more extreme and volatile by the minute. Not only did it feel like a swarm of fire ants dancing on his skin, but it was like the chidori itself weighed almost a hundred kilos. The reason he held his hand downwards was because he could barely raise it up.

So ultimately, simply jogging slowly on the spot would give the young Hidden Cloud genin the worst work-out he had ever experienced in his entire life. To add insult to injury, the boy’s skin almost seemed to be burning up due to the immense levels of thermal energy produced by that much lightning contained by only the semi-conductors in the boy’s body. To cut it short, Shoko wouldn’t be able to keep this up for long.

But the lad would just have to try and make the most of the time he had. Years of self-training had taught the young shinobi that these things were ought to be handled slowly and cautiously, so the boy would stop his pathetic attempt at jogging. With things like these he had to get used to maintaining the chidori to last a while before he would move unto actually moving with it.

Shoko planned on accomplishing that by getting used to the chaotic feeling of harnessing the chidori, especially being able to lift it up and move it around with ease. Maintaining the chidori to last would also build up his discipline and pain tolerance. So Shoko began, gritting his teeth as he continuously fed the dynamic current in his hand more chakra, at the same time doing his best to get used to it. It wasn’t easy.

But there was one thing about it that personally irritated Shoko; the noise. It was horrendous, wild, untamed and to be frank, a mess. Abbadon wasn’t kidding when she told him it was the “One Thousand Birds” technique, it literally sounded like a thousand birds squawking, cawing and fluttering all at once, enough to drive any man insane if exposed to it long enough. The combined factors of all of these was enough for Shoko to “drop” his chidori after a total of twenty seconds.

But the boy wasn’t done, his objective was to get used to it, and endure all the hardships that came with such a powerful technique. So naturally the young shinobi would try again, gritting his teeth as he suffered through and sustained the chidori technique this time for an extra five seconds. Shoko could feel his skin tingle with the excitement of progress in his endeavor, he just needed to keep getting used to it so he could maximize its effectiveness.

It was only ten minutes later, that Shoko Natamura felt content with himself after being able to not only hold the chidori technique for a full minute, but lift his lightning-shrouded right hand and move it around with little difficulty. The grin on the boy’s face said it all, but that was only the endurance part of the training. Next was speed. Shoko started pumping his knees up and down as he prepared himself for the hard work to come.

Sprinting from one wall to the next. A seemingly arbitrary activity to your average bystander, but Shoko was hell bent on first of all improving his speed in order to master the speed aspects of the “One Thousand Birds” technique. The boy would soon find himself out of breath as he neared his limit pacing from parallel walls more than twenty times. The young Hidden Cloud genin felt exhausted, but he knew that from timing himself as he ran each lap, he had slightly gotten faster.

That being said, training speed was significantly harder than just training endurance. Shoko felt he was ready to try and balance the chidori with his speed at this time. So the cycle would repeat himself, Shoko channeling a majority of his chakra into his hand then performing handseals and manipulating the frequency of vibrations to produce electrical current. Little by little, Shoko Natamura would keep up a steady jog.

Okay, so what did Abbadon say I do next, the young shinobi thought. For a moment there he struggled to recall what he was supposed to do next, but then remembered that he was supposed to be applying chakra throughout his body, or at least something like that. Shoko didn’t exactly remember the exact details and it wasn’t like he could ask unless he cut off his chakra input to the chidori to stop the noise. It were times like these that Shoko’s mind reverted back to simplicity and decided to wing it.

Chakra flowed to the boy’s legs and feet like gentle stream, similar to the way he performed his body-flicker techniques. He was going to have to concentrate his chakra around his body in a way that he would assist him in running with the chidori. Feeling the time was right, Shoko would begin to move. The boy’s pace was that of a jog, even though he applied the amount of force that would equal to a run, meaning it still needed some work.

With his chakra equally divided between his limbs, it would help balance the strain of taking on the chidori, thus allowing one to move somehow freely with it. Well, that was the logic the boy concurred given his recent test. But his problem was the fact that the chidori was a high-speed technique that could slice and man in half and is meant to be performed at the blink of an eye. The young shinobi lacked the speed to do so.

It seems that even with the speed training beforehand, the chidori was a technique that had to be flawlessly performed within the blink of an eye, leaving Shoko a bit befuddled on how to do so. It was something the boy sighed and had a long think through, generating ideas it did, but none plausible. Eventually Shoko settled on just trying again with the technique, doing so over and over until he… somehow got faster?

It wasn’t the best of plans, but he would try to work through it somehow, if not, he would surrender to invisible forces and painfully ask Abbadon for help. The grin he wore earlier had faded as he worked up another half-baked chidori that cloaked his hand fiercely. It was then while Shoko was guiding the chakra through the limbs of his lower body, that his concentration slipped due to the multi-tasking. The poor boy accidentally created electrical current in the chakra he was fueling to his legs.

The result was… well it was unprecedented to say the least. This new raiton was greatly unfocused, so as it grew, wild electrical sparks electrocuted his nerves instead of flowing seamlessly with them. Causing him to jolt in pain, from there he made the poor the decision of panicking and running as if it would stop or soothe the pain. Long story short, the raiton essence that his feet released was enough to super-charge his legs, sending Shoko’s sight into a blurred tunnel-vision state as he zipped across the room so fast that one would think he used a body-flicker technique.

Abaddon was not impolite or impatient - in fact, she liked the few moments that allowed herself to go over this whole thing in her head. It was surreal, to say the least. This boy and his persistence, and also his ability to work out his own method of approaching the endurance of the chidori, it was a lot in one day compared to the dreary past few years she'd been spending out here. As soon as eleven minutes have passed, Abaddon has given up watching. She settles against the wall of her underground training haven, yawning into her hand. When was the last time she slept? She wondered if the young man was fatigued at all, yet. For a moment, she thinks about setting up the couch for him, in case he needed to pass out. Or maybe he would pinch this little lesson off and head right back home. He was foolish enough, after all.

Abaddon's eyes snap up and her loud mind's dial turns down, attention caught by the boy's final zip across the room. He'd done it! He seemed content, huffing and puffing, and so Abaddon was content too. Approaching him, her feet tap soundless on the flat floor as her hands come together, clapping a few times. They echo hollowly throughout the room, the acoustics sounding as though they vibrate. Once she's standing in front of him and his frantic static, she ceases clapping. She admires his hand for a moment, the bright raiton it's clutching. It bounces off the floor and the lightning still squeaks and crackles, but the deafening screech is no longer lingering. Abaddon's ears ring in place of its absence. "Great!" She exclaims, clasping a hand on the shoulder of his that isn't attached to the hand holding a one thousand angry birds. "Now for the last part. Of the intro, I mean." She lets out a shrewd laugh before twirling to face away. Walking away again, she pipes up. "Last but not least, you need to control the raiton. I know you think you're in control of it, but right now it's just a harnessed power. You need to make it apart of you instead." She reaches where she'd originally been sat, taking up her lethargic stance against the wall again. "You'll need more of your chakra." She holds up her hands as if defensively. "I know, I know. That's'a lot've chakra." She folds her arms over her chest again, smirking. "You understand?"

"More?" The lad groaned.

His body was in utter pain and he was mentally overwhelmed by act of actually mastering his speed and endurance for the chidori. This last thing he wanted to do right now was to train some more. So to reinforce this, the lad would give a fake yet believable yawn, signifying that his fatigue was becoming to much for him to handle.

"Please, can we retire for the day? I've got some serious cramps and I don't think I can take anymore for the day?"

The lad could only hope his mentor would give him the chance to rest himself, that the mentor wasn't one of those overly-strict types that could make him train till he dropped. Kinda like the vision of Abbadon that Shoko had before he met her. The corners of Shoko's lips would curl upwards, it seemed that the heavens had been merciful to him after all.

"Retire?" Abaddon mocks, cheeks hollowing as she thinks about being ancient and retiring from jobs. She laughs a little, swaying from side to side to regain an even balance as she walks back over to Shoko. With a hefty, satisfied sigh, she puts a hand on his shoulder firmly. "Alright. I'd hoped you coulda held out until you got it all down, and then passed out for a few days. But taking a well-deserved rest beforehand is fine, too. You can sleep on the couch." She turns on her heel, leading him back out of the giant training room. "We'll just have to smack the dust off, is all," she adds plainly as she slips into the hallway, hiking back to the main room.

With Shoko presumably on her tail, Abaddon moves into the alleged living room and pulls old quilts from high up shelves. She lies them out and does indeed smack the stale cushions, a cloud of brown dust wafting upwards. She waves it away before making up the makeshift bed. She turns to him, then gestures to his own little cozy resting place. "My guess is you'll pass out as soon as your head hits the pillow. It's not a big deal. You want a glass of water by your head in case you wake up?" She feels paternal and worries it'll give her crowsfeet; she didn't sign up for harboring this boy. It was a price to pay for warming up to the raiton-affluent boy that reminded her so much of herself, somehow. Despite the four armed difference.

"My guess is you'll pass out as soon as your head hits the pillow. It's not a big deal. You want a glass of water by your head in case you wake up?"

Shoko had followed Abbadon into a sort of living room and watched as the woman made his make-shift bed before asking him the question. The boy didn't want to be one to freeload nor take advantage of Abbadon's hospitality but he realized that he had few options. Well, he would find a way to make it up to her... somehow.

"Umm, Yes please, water would be greatly appreciated." Shoko responded in a sort of reserved manner.

He was still standing. Abaddon was surprised - hadn't he wanted to pass out? Or maybe he was just used to the leisurely and the calm. Regardless, she shrugs widely with up-turned palms. She clicks her tongue, grinning but also seeming defeated, however mock. "Of course," she says flatly. Turning on her heel, she approaches the area she's deemed a kitchen and fetches some clean water for her protege. There's a moment of silence that rings around the gentle trickle of water into glass, and then Abaddon is crossing the hovel once more to Shoko. She presents it to him but sets it neatly on the coffee table beside the old couch.

Truthfully, Abaddon wouldn't mind heading to her room to turn in for the night herself. Checking the time would tell her that it wasn't actually terribly late. It was at least earlier than it felt, the number of hours that had passed being remarkably less than what they felt like. She'd expected midnight but got late afternoon. Either way, rest was rest. "Alright. I'm through the kitchen if you need me." Just before she passes through the threshold of the room, she stops with a hand on the door frame as she turns over her shoulder to regard Shoko lastly. "But, uh... try not to need me." She flashes a toothy smirk before slipping into her room, sliding the door shut behind her.

They'd begin again when she arose the next day, whether or not Shoko was ready. For now, she took to her personal tidings.

Morning came quite abruptly for the young lad that begged for a few more hours of blissful sleep. His eyelids popped open, a bit woozy in fact. The boy’s upperbody rose from its dwelling, Shoko craned his neck left, then right, realizing that the events of the previous day were indeed existent and not a mere dream. The thoughts made him tingle once more, it was morning time now and another day had started; meaning inevitably more training.

The only problem was that with every slight movement, the boy’s body protested. It wanted more sleep, and he knew it. Shoko waited a few seconds, to be sure that Abbadon wasn’t about waltz right, before dragging his blanket back over his head and lavishing in its comfort. Falling asleep in a matter of seconds.

It didn’t last too long however, because before long Shoko woke up once more, feeling uncomfortable with the position he was sleeping in. The boy had attempted to resume his sleep but he couldn’t stand the taste of his own breath and decided to officially start the day by brushing his teeth. Luckily Shoko had all his vital necessities tucked away in his rucksack. After locating the nearest bathroom and brushing his teeth, Shoko would go out to find Abbadon. Apart from training it was the boy’s goal to make himself useful in any way he could throughout the duration of his stay.
