Capture Image
Rank: "C"
Type: Deception Ritual
Effect: User captures an image for later use.
Special: To perform: 10 minutes; Duration: Permanent
Drawback: ---
Description: User can capture the image of the site where they are standing and bind it into a Gem. Anyone peering into the crystal can see a tiny version of the image, and by using this ritual on a capture-image crystal, the user can create a full-scale image. An image recreated by this ritual is true in detail, but slightly transparent and obviously an illusion, fooling nobody but useful for conveying information. User can also use an image crystal with the Mirage Arcana ritual or similar Chakras to recreate the scene more believably. User's Deception Skill Mastery determines the size of the scene user can capture or recreate.
Novice: 4-meters radius
Average: 10-meters radius
Advanced: 20-meters radius
Expert: 40-meters radius

For the first time in a long time, the young Mizukage had come to the training ground without a specific goal in mind. Normally she came already knowing what she wanted to achieve, and it generally fitted into a greater overarching plan, an example being her prior research into alchemy so that she could create potions, or her study of monsters so that she could better deal with them. On this occasion, however, nothing had really come to mind in terms of what she should learn. Instead, her objective was grounded simply through the jutsus she had on hand and an obligation to train.
As a result, it was time for the young Mizukage to train in the art of deception, specifically the rituals centred around the art. She had been in possession of a mystic book that contained the details of the rituals for quite some time now but had never found an opportunity to employ the jutsus, normally being preoccupied with learning some other form of jutsu. Upon opening the book the youth was quick to note the first jutsu was labelled “capture image”.
Upon reading through the technique Yoko began to formulate a decent idea of what the creator had envisioned for the ritual and what she would employ it for. The technique seemed to be ideal for advanced reconnaissance, the application of which could be extremely powerful. Taking a picture of an area as wide as eighty metres allowed for a lot of variables to be noted without the use of a camera. This meant that a ninja force could arguably recreate the whole image and drill operates over and over in the foreplanning stage.
In doing so they improved their chances of success. But of course, this was not the only application, a team of specialists could likely apply their skills all be it a purely observational capacity to assess points of entry, booby traps, or traps and tricks of any sort for that matter. In the heat of battle, it was easy to overlook a pressure plate or a bolted door. But with a perfect image of an area, all of these factors could be accounted for in advance before departing. Of course, the argument could be made that various factors would change, and indeed they would. But providing the operative had been discreet in their application of the technique then surely things would run quite smoothly.
