Valerys set the Wolf Fang under the specialized microscope and viewing platform, which was adjusted with all sorts of powerful clamps to hold the gem in place, and was able to see any aspects she wanted of the crystal. She could see the highly complex, and intricate, crystalline structure as well as the chakra swimming underneath due to the sensitive nature of the microscope. Valerys took a small chisel, and a hammer which she didn't use often, and set them down. The olive green of the peridot shined with luster as Valerys pulled up the small chisel, almost a hook, and cracked away at certain points on the Wolf Fang. The hook caught into a groove in the stone and quickly tore away at the edge, opening up a gash and eventually forming shapes and then symbols. Symbols that Valerys knew could be infused to allow the Wolf Fang to sustain its chakra twice as long.

The symbols were sigils that had been taught by ancient craftsman for preserving the life of an alchemical creation. They were old and no one was quite sure what they said anymore, but Valerys took great care as she transcribed them into the outside of the Wolf Fang. She had to curve one circle that was on the left side, one on the right side, and one in the center. It took considerable precision as well as control over her chakra to get the infusion to work properly and for the shapes to be completely even. She used the microscope as much as she could allow, getting into close detail as she perfected the work with the chisel. She used the hammer only when it was necessary. Then she set to work filling the circles with the runes of the craftsman which was much more difficult and took a considerably longer amount of time to perfect.

As Valerys was finishing inscribing the runes, her chakra began to radiate toward the crystal and fill in the symbols even though it was not time for the infusing. The crystal seemed powerful already, and Valerys thought she could see an aura of the white, dire wolf crawling around the outside of the peridot. She grabbed the Wolf Fang from its platform and took it over to the table, where she placed her hands a few inches above and concentrated on the stone. The runes on the outside had been learned by ancient craftsman in order to activate the doubled endurance of the crystals, so she called upon their wisdom and her chakra wrapped around the stone. She could feel the direwolf and it was as if her chakra fused with hers, as Valerys energy gave strength to the presence of the wolf. When it was over Valerys looked at the completed Wolf Fang, knowing at once what she had to do with it...

Shihana and Akumu walked outside the Senpu Dojo and were standing in front of the broken wall. Akumu suddenly transformed into his normal appearance, a huge, dark quetzalcoatl that stretched over the sand, and let out a bellow as Shihana climbed on his back. She instructed him to fly into the air and soar over the desert landscape and investigate anything that may be below. He did so, his big body flapping powerfully in order to take to the air. Shihana looked over the edge of his body and into the air underneath them. It felt good as her feet kicked in the breeze and Akumu began to take her higher into the air. As they got further up, Shihana could not contain her excitement and transformed into Valerys -- her short, auburn hair blowing around her face as Akumu moved into the sky. The two looked a perfect pair as they made their way higher and higher, and the first fringes of the clouds began to curl and tuck beneath their feet as they took flight. 

Although they were both fairly adept at flying, Valerys wanted them to get better and so today she had Akumu make a sharp swerve to the right. His body reacted in a moment, bending down to that side and lowering his wing across the fluttering wind. As he was moving down, Valerys suddenly told him to do a flip all the way around. Akumu was surprised, they had never tried this maneuver before and it seemed dangerous. But Valerys beckoned him on and eventually Akumu did as he was told, laying down his wing until his whole massive body was spinning to the right through space. Valerys hung on and used her chakra to remain bound to his scales, using her concentration the whole time to help her stay focused on the ride. If this were combat then she would have to be very alert, even during a spin, to dodge or attack the foe on the other side. The two rose to a new height and were able to see the landscape in a way that they had never done before, spread out across the planet like some great, golden field in the sunlight.

Akumu roared and let out a breath of flame out of excitement as the two of them bucked, and hovered, in place some ways from the dojo. "Now... a nose-dive," Valerys said. Akumu rolled back his eye and gave her a look, as if suggesting that they don't. When it was obvious that she could not be dissuaded, Akumu sighed and launched himself toward the earth and suddenly began to plummet. 200 meters, 175 meters, 125 meters, 60 meters... the ground rapidly approaching. Valerys held on and kept her eyes open, her concentration strong, never wavering from their mission. At the last second Akumu unfurled his wings and threw up a gust of wind as he caught the both of them and flapped upwards once again. Valerys felt for a moment as if she were filled with a case of vertigo, and butterflies in her stomach, but quickly regained her composure and rubbed Akumu's back with the palm of her hand. "That was good," she said, trying to judge what new trick they should perform. It was clear that their skill in flight was getting better with each new movement, and she wanted to make sure that the two of them were on par and a whole different level from everybody else.

Now that they had taken flight and learned even more together, Akumu decided that he would go off into the Senpu Dojo and learn more at the training room. It took only a second for him to transform into his human, child-like appearance. When he arrived there were various people there learning all sorts of techniques in the dojo. He detested them a little bit, because they were human, but found a nice corner to practice his own webbing techniques. He sent chakra through his throat and into his saliva glands, mixing up the chakra and spit before it even entered his mouth. When it did enter his mouth, Akumu could feel the sticky spit seeping around his mouth and wove it with his tongue into the Web Net technique. This time, however, he wanted to add something special to the jutsu and enable it to crush helpless victims that were caught beneath its effects. He had to add a special layer of chakra on the outside of the net that was infused with some of his own power and mind, using his concentration to make sure that the chakra continued to flow appropriately after it had been applied.

Suddenly Akumu threw back his head and launched the net toward the dummy that was braced against the floor. The Web Net flung itself forward and wrapped around it in an instant, and Akumu watched closely to see if the crushing enhancement that he had applied to the jutsu would work. It took several seconds, but eventually the webs did seem to fill with their own life due to the extra layer of chakra. Soon the net used this energy to begin to construct itself around the dummy, suddenly wrapping around the wood and making it splinter. However, after a short time of this it stopped constricting the dummy and ran out of power. Akumu knew, based on observing these results, that he was going to need to do more work with the Crushing Web technique and infuse it with more chakra if it was going to work. Without wasting a moment, Akumu set about creating a new net filled with triple the amount of chakra from the previous exercise, still coursing around the fine threads and flowing like a river.

The net built up inside of his throat, wrapped with the sticky fibers that could be produced from his body alone. Soon he was arching his neck and directing his attack toward the dummy once more, watching it shoot out and wrap around the ragged husk. In a moment the chakra began to work its magic and tighten, as if fueled by some internal power. Akumu watched with growing interest as seconds went by and the net got tighter and tighter. Before the dummy snapped apart, however, the webbing stopped and Akumu found that the chakra had not been enough to keep going for long periods of time. Akumu knew that he needed to find a way to make the chakra self-sustaining so that it could continue to run through the webs even after it left his mouth. Akumu set about on a new project, now designing the walls of the Web Net as if they were filled with tiny, molecular valves that would increase the speed of the chakra as it ran throughout. Then Akumu set his net to fill up with his chakra.

Akumu filled his next web creation with an intricately designed network that would push the chakra throughout the webs, while also forcing it to speed up and continue moving even after the attack left the body. Akumu was amazed with how much he had learned with the dummies and other items to assist him in the training room, and prepared himself to see the fruits of his labors once more as he opened his mouth and sent the net flying toward the dummy. The many, sticky threads wound around the target and suddenly tightened around its base -- causing it to creak slightly. Akumu continued to watch as the nets grew tighter and tighter, eventually causing cracks to form in the dummy and after another few seconds the dummy began to split apart. Akumu watched with fascination as his chakra did not dissipate, like the previous times, but continued to build in power -- getting tinier and tinier and crushing the dummy as it did so. When it was done, the webbing had broken apart the practice dummy and someone came to replace it with a new one. Akumu chuckled as he let more saliva drip down into his mouth, prepared to give it one more attempt if he needed to. The chakra responded readily enough, under the spell of a soon to be chakra master.

Description: Range of this technique is Web Spinning. Duration of this technique is 5 minutes per Class Level. Effect is webs in an 8-meter-radius spread. This Jutsu functions in a manner similar to the web Jutsu, except the mass of sticky strands created moves away from the user in a direction of the user's choice. The webs move at a constant speed of 10 meters per round at the start of the user's turn every round. The flowing webs can travel vertically or at a constant angle, for example up or down a chimney or a sloping corridor. Figure out the mass’s new spread each round based on its new point of origin, which is 10 meters farther from the point of origin of the Jutsu. If the original dimensions of the web effect were curtailed by the width or height of the affected area and the new area is wider or higher, the webs expand to fill the new area, up to the maximum radius of the Jutsu. Likewise, the effect shrinks to move into an area not as wide or high as its current dimensions. If the webs flow into an area that does not allow them to affix to at least 2 diametrically opposed points, any unsupported area of webs collapses and disappears. If the leading part of the webs encounters a solid barrier blocking progress, it stops moving when its point of origin is directly in contact with the barrier. It moves again if that barrier is removed. Creatures already grappled in the webs are carried along with the mass as it moves, always maintaining the same position relative to the new point of origin as they had to the original point of origin. They are carried along in subsequent rounds unless they manage to escape on their turn. If a creature being carried along is moved into a solid surface, such as a wall or object larger than they are, they stop moving but keep the grappled condition until they are freed or the webs no longer include them in their area. Being carried along in the webs never provoke opportunity attacks.

After having learned how to make his web crush an opponent, Akumu decided to carry on with the practice in his Ogumo skills. He knew that he was close to mastering the techniques and wanted to get as far along on this path as possible. Akumu thought back to some of the techniques he had seen written on the scrolls at the Dalamadur Temple and began to work on one from within his mouth. The saliva and chakra began to produce the sticky webs, but Akumu let even more chakra seep into the roof of his mouth and his tongue. His jaws started to feel as if they were burning with power as the webs began to build with more and more chakra. Akumu had never manifested so much of his chakra into a web jutsu before, but knew that for this particular technique it would need as much power as possible to be able to grow across the area. When he thought that he had imbued it enough, Akumu spit all of the webbing out on the ground in front of him like a string of sticky fluid.

The white substance rested on the ground for a second and then suddenly seemed to come to life. The webbing suddenly pulsed as the chakra awakened from within and began to move around inside of the creation. Without Akumu doing anything, one of its edges stretched out and the chakra started to force it to grow. The webbing seemed to have a life of its own as it expended for about a meter and then rapidly slowed down, until after a few seconds it stopped growing all together. In his child form, Akumu looked disappointed at how little he had been able to accomplish. The growth rate of the technique absorbed huge amounts of chakra and made it where Akumu was going to have to figure out a solution to mastering the Flowing Web. He set to work on trying the technique again and let the chakra flow into his mouth as the chakra infused through his throat -- the two meeting in the middle.

As the chakra and spit combined, they worked to make the lethal combination that was the technique. Akumu poured as much of his chakra as he could into the webs as they flowed and moved over one another. The webs absorbed all the chakra they were given, to the point where Akumu was afraid they might break from the pure amount of power. But Akumu spit out his creation on the ground, as if he was vomiting, and watched as it came to life once more. The line of webbing throbbed and started to grow like before, but in an instant it grew 1 meter -- calling upon its reserves of Akumu's chakra. Within a couple of seconds it had grown a second meter. Akumu continued to watch but after this it had slowed to a near crawl, flowing over the landscape at an unuseful rate. Akumu tried to study the creation and see what he could glean from it, noting that a lot of the chakra was expended at the beginning and needed to be altered to persist throughout the entire technique. Akumu thought on this added benefit as he started mixing his spit and chakra once more, determined to master the technique and add it to his Ogumo repertoire.

This time Akumu was determined to master the Flowing Web technique and as he created it within his mouth, he imagined that it was a creature separate from his body all together. This was difficult to conjure, but he kept it in mind while all of his chakra ran into the creation. The webbing almost seemed to hum from within his jaws with all of the energy that filled it, before Akumu bent over and wretched it on to the ground. He hoped that since he had imbued it to work on its own, that the creation wouldn't use all of its chakra right away. Akumu's gamble paid off, as the web slowly began to grow and moved out a 1 meter radius, then a 2 meter radius, and a 3 meter radius and three seconds. Within the same amount of time it had reached out to 6 meters. Akumu watched as it curled between his legs and over the ground getting bigger with each passing second. Even so, he knew that it wasn't growing as fast as it was supposed to -- as he had seen other masters create webs that grew at almost twice the speed. However, his technique continued to grow unimpeded which was an improvement from their predecessors. Akumu knew that he would have to keep trying until the webs would flow at a rate that was comparable to a true master.

After having learned several new jutsus at the dojo, Akumu decided that it was time for him to leave and he started heading out of the gates. He took on his usual form and to the sky, leaving the buildings behind as dots as he climbed into the air.

After learning a few new tricks with Akumu, Valerys decided to talk a walk through the desert and found a nice, shaded spot to lie down. As she did, she remembered learning to use various chakra devices right after she had acquired her spear, Bitter Mercy. She had gone to see Omoi Chikyu, a ninjutsu master who also had various chakra equipment and weaponry. As she entered his office, Valerys had looked around at all of the tools and items that lined the shelves and cabinets against the walls. There were many of them suggesting that Omoi was very knowledgeable in the use of such devices. She requested that he teach her the tricks and Omoi sat her down at one of the tables getting right into the lesson. Omoi first pulled down a kunai from the shelf and handled it to Valerys. "Run your chakra throughout that item and tell me what you feel," Omoi said and waited for Valerys to try so that he could teach her the art of using chakra devices.

Valerys took the kunai into her hand and at first couldn't tell anything special about the dull throwing dagger. As she began to look closer, however, she could see that there were strange cuts made into the hilt and that when she sent her chakra into the metal, she was able to perceive some sort of energy that was already present. She started using her chakra to probe the item and try to figure out how it worked, eventually getting a sense of a strange cold sensation from within the blade. "It feels cold," Valerys answered Omoi and he nodded. He said that was right, but wanted her to try moving even deeper into the weapon. Valerys did as she was instructed and let her mind go blank, taking deep breaths in and out, as her thoughts followed her chakra into the device. She tried to speak to it with her mind and eventually received a single word as a response: "Frost." She said the word out loud as if directed at Omoi, but her chakra seemed to respond from deep within her body and then something incredible happened.

The blade of the kunai suddenly frosted over with a thick layer of blue-white ice that chilled the skin of her fingers, which were several inches down the handle. She was surprised by how quickly her chakra had responded and that the weapon had activated in such a way. Omoi must have been too because he jumped up with excitement and said, "Yes that's perfect!" Valerys was proud of herself, but then Omoi pulled out a different item and told her to try it with this one. It was another kunai but with different cuts in the side. When Valerys ran her chakra through it she was able to feel heat, and when she went even deeper she heard the word, "Flame" in her mind. She knew that this was the word to activate the weapon, and so started to prepare herself. Chakra rushed into her arms as she said the word and the kunai came to life with fire, which Valerys knew could be used for attacks. Omoi was impressed but told her that their work was not yet done.

Next Omoi pulled out a wrap of five different kunai, one for each of the elemental releases. He wanted Valerys to go down the line and with her chakra identify each one, then finding its activation word and using it to demonstrate her knowledge. Omoi claimed that by sensing all of the kunai, she could become better attuned to the different natures of various devices. Valerys started and touched each kunai, sometimes needing to pick it up to get a better feel for the energy. The first couple she messed up on the first try, but her identification skills got better the longer she assessed the items with her chakra. Soon she was able to tell the stark difference between fire and water, or even the nuisance'd difference between fire and lightning. She found each of their special words for activation, and afterwards her body felt like it was filled with the aura of all different types of chakra. It took her a second to center her mind and ground herself after practicing with so many different materials.

"Now then, try this out," Omoi said and brought out two different kunai. When Valerys sensed them, as she'd been taught, she found that one was very dark and that the other was very light, as if there were a strange sentience and ethics to each one of the weapons. "What is this?" Valerys asked and Omoi explained that each of the kunai were triggered with alignment specific traits. Valerys paid more attention, and when she picked up the "light" kunai she seemed to feel weaker -- as if her strength were being sapped away from her. When she picked up the "dark" kunai, however, her strength seemed to grow as if the weapon were meant to be within the palm of her hand. "The key is to be able to switch between strength and weakness with either of the kunai," Omoi explained, "When you can do that, you have mastered the art of emulating an alignment and opened up your range of usable devices." She picked up the Lawful Good kunai and started to feel inside of the device, retracting her mind from the pain that seemed to come from the seal placed in the metal to keep her out.
