Have you become completely external to yourself, watching your body go through meaningless motions from dawn until dusk, seeing that poor soul you call 'you' only to feel nothing more than a glimmer of sympathy let alone empathy, thinking about your own internal state when you ought to be feeling it first hand and living it?

If you have, maybe you've got a sense for how I once felt, and often feel in times of weakness. We're all slaves to some strange subjective reality at its basest level - some arbitrary set of rules about what food you can eat and water you can drink and angel trumpet tea you can knock back before your consciousness gets severed. And we're bound only because we've got no clue what happens next, so we're forced to let fear happen - to fear some set of rules we have to take for granted. And all the people looking for reasons for this rules are madmen - they come up with some sacred scapegoat, but refuse to toss curses at the motherfucker or they carefully construct a precarious pyramid of practical results, looking deeper and deeper for some sort of inductive definition when they know as well as I do that the base case just doesn't exist. And they call me "goddamned" and a "cynic."

I'll admit it - I used to crave victory and transcendence and meaning and all those fixings of human 'achievement.' I was an Uchiha - a master of reality itself. I could shape this world - bend it to my will and make a place more appealing to me. Become one of those chosen few who is not bound by fate, but helps to write the destinies of others and of the universe itself. One who is unstuck from the fabric of these cosmos. Maybe that part of me is lurking somewhere in the meaningless connections of my brain chemistry, but that's not me. That's a figment, a product of situations which were leading me away from my true path. A vulnerable heel in my psyche or an impurity ironically in my essence itself.

If I'm going to assert one thing, its that I do believe taking things in your own hands is the best approach. There's too goddamned much cosmic machinery between me and anybody else. Do I trust my voice to the air which whips around and vibrates endlessly, noisily and noiselessly, do I trust my words to the written languages, constructed by men from eons ago with ulterior motives and grammatical obsessions grounded in obsequious books of 'rules of writing' and other ambiguities, do I trust the hearts of the men around me, when I know they are as deeply bound by the trappings of this falsehood we all live? My comrades are a necessary evil at times, and I do feel for whatever true human soul might lurk inside of their deepest recesses, but I know that to communicate with such fellow sufferer through the walls of this prison is absurdity.

People call me 'spacey' sometimes, probably because I don't give a shit about my actual existence. I'll drink milk that expired two days ago. I'll skip meals for a day if no food is convenient. Will that shit kill me? Of course it won't. If it can't strip my consciousness - my soul if you're willing to call it that - from my body, then I can predict the result. A day of sickness, so what? Losing a few pounds? They say my head is up in the clouds, but my head is right on my shoulders. It's just that the thoughts "within" that head don't always care about what's going on outside. If it's spacey to realise that nothing really matters in the end of the day, except maybe life and death itself, then I suppose I fit the bill.

appearance:
How do people react to the illusion of my body? Usually with the phrase 'you need to shave.' I'm awful about shaving. For some reason my face believes it needs to continue growing spotty patches of hair at the bottom of my face whose sole effect - or perhaps purpose - is to cause the average person with whom I converse to spew inanities about the state of my chin rather than say anything that could be at any level considered to be interesting. Those particularly annoying hairs - along with the ones on my upper lip, under my arms, and in the other crevices of my body where that shit grows - matches with the color of my hair, which is the same flat black color as most of my clan. However, while I don't let my hair get particularly dirty, I don't take the best care of it, so it is often greasy. As a result, I keep most of it tucked away in some sort of hat whenever I can - I can avoid inanities with this approach, whereas covering my face often has the opposite result.

My eyebrows are pretty close to perfect without any sort of maintenance - many people have commended me on the excellent upkeep I must invest in them, and I usually can't be bothered to tell them otherwise. They do frame the feature of my face that I'd consider most important, if any of it can be considered to matter at all. My eyes do allow me to view the illusions of life with considerable detail. My irises are almost as dark as my pupils - a trait common to my kinsmen, if I remember correctly - except when I activate the "Sharingan Eye" as it is called, when my iris turns red, and my pupil is replaced with three spinning marks. My normal eye is often bloodshot. Maybe it's partially because of my training with the eye - that's what my family likes to postulate - but I mostly doubt that. Regardless, a convenient cover story for whatever it is that makes my eyes bloodshot - poor sleep, alcohol, and medicinal herbs, most likely. The rest of my features are fair or fine or sharp or whatever you want to call it. I guess it makes sense - we’re descended from the Astral Plane or fairies or whatever, so our faces still bear the marks.

Fuck clothing. Another piece of human existence I wish I could avoid. Unfortunately, we've constructed nudity to be even more of a pain in the ass than the process of selecting fabrics to cover our skin, so I play along I suppose. The thing I enjoy the most of all my clothing is my hat. It keeps my hair from getting out of control, saving me the work of tending to it in any serious way. I also wear a rather light and loose shirt, letting the breeze blow over my chest. People refer to this look as sleazy or unkempt, but honestly, I just kind of like it, and I find that if I let the air wash over my chest, I'm at least slightly less prone to the buildup of body odors. I do wear a slightly heavier coat over that, usually flung open however to let air flow through, closed up only to trap in a little bit of heat when it comes right down to it. Otherwise, I'm a man of simple dress. It isn't something I value or wish to put time into.

Those kinsfolk of mine often speak of their 'builds.' They're really just obsessed with the shape that their bodies take - they're bragging about their training, nutrition, the rest. Those who focus on the illusory powers of our eye and the secrets which it can see often emphasize their build as 'wiry' or even 'slight' as a result of training which is more spiritual and mental than physical in nature, but enough physical training to keep their build from being 'obese.' The more combat oriented folk focus on the bulk of their build and the size of their muscle. I fall somewhere in between those two extremes. I do train sometimes believe it or not- they made me a lot as a child, and sometimes the habit comes back to me as an idle activity - something my body does without any real effort. Further, I do not intentionally deprive myself of calories to maintain the appearance of an otherworldly ascetic like some. Resultantly, I'm somewhere near the peak of the bell curve - with powerful people of all types.

It may or may not be worth mentioning that I do own one piece of jewelry I wear occasionally. A ring, of simple metal with a silver plating fits perfectly on my left ring finger. It bears one ornament, the uchiwa, the symbol of my clan. It was given to me as a gift by a cousin a long time ago, and while I don't particularly care for that sort of sentiment, I've neglected to throw it away all these years, so why bother now? The ceramic icon is carefully painted and glazed with a shiny finish.

Additionally, it may be worth noting that strange smells often cling to me. I know a fair amount about herbal medicine and strange foods, drinks and pipe weeds. Most of those things do smell quite a bit. Some people find it off-putting, but I personally think its rather honest in a general sense. The chemicals which drive my body aren't hidden away like the cheeseburger scoffed down by an anorexic fashion model - but instead cling to my outside in the same way they do to my inside. I try to shower the smells off more often, but if you put your nose right up against me, its inevitable you're going to smell something strange.

The Uchiha are experts at charm and deceit, through their trickery they handily enhance their own power base and aid their allies. Their mastery of illusions is unmatched; their very eye the Sharingan provides them with mind-affecting abilities few can match. That is what the elders drill into your mind - careful to use the third person until you're old enough, lest you think the old crone droning on to you is the best they've got, or you begin to get ideas that you're just as good as any of them. A clever ploy which has thrived throughout the ages at making children of the clan train harder, activate their powers, and become the great people Uchiha have been throughout human history. Being born to an arranged marriage of Uchiha, and raised in a manor in Yokoburi among my clans-folk, this was the lie that convinced me to study hard, master illusions and refine my usage of the chakra arts.

So I was raised among the black haired and dark eyed race that make up some the greatest illusionists of the world. I was singled out in some my classes, for a variety of reasons. First of all, I enjoyed the idea of an illusion. After all, I knew even in my youth, that he who bends his own reality is he who rules over all. While others were excited by the fire ninjutsu techniques offered up by their elders, I was far more intrigued by the careful manipulation offered up by our eyes. Could they see truth? Could they change truth? It appealed to me, and I began to be seen as one with potential, one who grasped the true power of the eye - as more than a cantrip which could be used to steal a martial art or a fireball for myself. Particularly, the elder of the manor - the eldest if you will - took me under his wing, intent upon me being the greatest tool of the next generation.

We spent hours together. He taught me everything he could get me to take in - how to perform ancient Uchiha rites of passage, how to identify traps and persuade people and analyze their motives. He taught me every illusion and enchantment he could get me to bother with, he helped me activate my the third tomoe - further enhancing the already powerful sight which our blood gave to me. He would take me to his study after classes and encourage me - rewarding me for hard work and putting me down for laziness. However, as I aged, the natural cycle of our clan began to take shape. I wanted distance, I craved space. I insisted he let me have some control over my life - let me walk the streets and learn how to move among people, learn about BINGO and about liars and criminals and making money on my own. He reluctantly agreed, and regretted his decision profusely. 

On the streets I met a man who went by the pseudonym of 'The Kaiser.' He was a kind man, older than me for sure, but he knew his way around. He could navigate streets like no other, talk shit like no other, scare people off like no other. He showed me things I'd never seen. But, eventually, he started talking to me about herbalism. He took me off into the forests for weekends, we went hunting for rare medicine. He showed me how the could enhance my body and expand my mind. Slowly, my clan members began to wonder what I did all the time, and why I smelled like smoke and fruit and pine all the time. But slowly, I began to wonder why in a far more general sense. Fuck, man. Those were the days. Suddenly, all those cantrips and shit, they were just like, illusions within illusions. So insubstantial. At least they gave me a head start. I'd learned to recognize illusory stimuli - the time had come to use my Sharingan for its greatest trick; seeing through the Grand Illusion. 

And I was smoking for days on the family's fortunes. They fed me and clothed me, and I wandered off to learn the secrets of the universe from medicinal sages in crazy huts deep in the wilds. Slowly, I began to distance myself from me. I began to realize that the voice inside my head isn't everything - hell, it isn't anything. Everything became insubstantial to my touch, totally ignorable, totally able to be seen through. However, my elder was pushing me. I was getting older. It was time for me to marry, father more great Uchiha warriors. Or maybe do work for the clan, go to Konoha and do some missions, or fight battles, destroy enemies. Perform services for the grand council's greatest desires or some shit. But I couldn't be bothered. I just wanted to keep living.

Finally, I came up with a plan - a pretty clever one if I may say so myself. I wanted to found a new manor for the clan. We were filling up the Yokoburi branch, and we were always looking to expand our sphere of influence. Hell, there was hardly even room for me to have a girlfriend or wife move in to the old manor if I found one, I argued. The elder who had trained me all my life, beginning to lose patience with me, finally caved and fronted me the money to found my own manor - a new Uchiha house. I could finally be alone, do my own shit. Be free to explore or sleep or whatever I needed. Finally, I told the universe to fuck off, and I began to live my life as quickly or as slowly as I wanted.

So all I got is a line of credit for a big old house, my clothing, and nothing in the world to hold me back.

The duration of this technique lasts for 5 rounds per class level. This technique may be negated. Creatures in the area that fail their saves are caught up in the throes of the Chakra, believing themselves to be in the last desperate battle of a war against their most hated foes. On the next round, all affected creatures attack the nearest creature with their most damaging attack. This attack can be of any sort, so long as it is the most effective means of killing the nearest creature. Creatures in the area of effect must make a save each round to avoid attacking the nearest creature. On the rounds following the performing of the Jutsu, the user can direct the Tide of War to move in a straight line, sweeping up new creatures in its effect. The Tide of War may be moved up to 10 meters per round in this fashion. Creatures in the areas the Jutsu moves over, or that do not leave the area, must make a save to resist its effects.

The duration of this technique is permanent. This technique may be negated. This Jutsu functions like Permanent Scene, except that the scene entrances viewers before consuming them. Any creature other than the user that views the scene must make a Save. Creatures that fail are fascinated for 1 hour. A creature that watches the scene for 1 hour must make another Save or be physically absorbed into the scene. A creature that succeeds at this Save must make another Save to avoid becoming fascinated for 1 hour (this cycle continues until the subject’s fascination is broken). An Engorging Pattern can hold a total number of creatures equal to 8 per Class Level. The pattern consumes creatures with the highest Class Level first. Among creatures with equal Class Level, those who are closest to the pattern are consumed first. Break enchantment, Miracle can free a creature from the pattern. However, if the User of Break Enchantment, they must attempt a Save or be absorbed by the pattern as well. The user of Engorging Pattern may attempt to release a creature from the pattern in order to make room for new creatures. Creatures that are released emerge in an area adjacent to the pattern exactly as they were when they were consumed by the pattern. An Engorging Pattern cannot be washed away or dispelled. However, if the object that hosts the illusion is fractured, the Chakra is destroyed as soon as any piece of the scene moves more than 10 meters away from the nearest piece of the same scene. If an engorging pattern is destroyed, creatures that were trapped within are slain as if by a death effect.

The message can be of any length, and the recipient remembers it perfectly upon waking. The communication is one-way. The recipient cannot ask questions or offer information, nor can the messenger gain any information by observing the dreams of the recipient. Once the message is delivered, the messenger's mind returns instantly to its body. The duration of the Jutsu is the time required for the messenger to enter the recipient's dream and deliver the message. If the recipient is awake when the Jutsu begins, the messenger can choose to wake up (ending the Jutsu) or remain in the trance. The messenger can remain in the trance until the recipient goes to sleep, then enter the recipient's dream and deliver the message as normal. Most realize they are asleep and in a GenJutsu – but this does not end the Jutsu or make it any less painful. It often increases their despair as they realize how helpless they are. The victim is visited by the user throughout the vision, and offered escape and healing if they will but take their hand and promise loyalty. The victim faces a choice. If they resist the vision continues. The Jutsu is so horrible there is a cumulative 5% chance per hour that he will go permanently mad (feebleminded). The victim is aware of this. An illusion of the user always visits before a save is rolled to resist being feebleminded and to end the Jutsu. If the victim takes the user's hand and promises loyalty, they wake up. The victims is well, unharmed, and behaves normally – except that they are absolutely convinced that serving the user is the right thing to do, and does so loyally and without question. If the victim attempts to lie, the vision becomes worse (limbs being slowly sawed off, body engulfed in flames and continues to burn for hours, etc.) while the chance to become feebleminded rises to 10% per hour (cumulative). Note that shaking, water, etc. does not awaken the victim; that requires a successful Dispel GenJutsu. If the victim is feebleminded, they can be restored with a heal Jutsus. This is an additive process and Kergan's Umbral Landscape cannot make terrain features disappear from view. It can however cover those features up, thus, open fields or a road can be made to resemble a hill, or some other difficult or impassible terrain that does not require the Jutsu to attempt to subtract features from the terrain. A pond can be made to seem like a grassy meadow by creating shadows of grass over the pond's surface, a precipice can be made to look like a gentle slope, or a rock strewn gully can be made to appear as a wide and smooth road, by covering the gully and its rocks with shadows of dirt. Structures, equipment and creatures within the area are not hidden or changed in appearance. The Umbral Landscape is considered real in the affected mind and is treated as the terrain being mimicked for purposes of movement. Thus a road made to resemble a hill would be traversed as if it was indeed a hill. Those who make their save to disbelieve see through the illusion.

While under the effects of Mind Blank, Protection From Evil or a similar Jutsu, the subject can ignore the Compulsion, but such a ward does not prevent establishing Psychic Clone, nor dispel it. The Jutsu serves its purposes in the following manner:

The psychic clone can cause the subject to enter a coma for 30 minutes, making the subject seem dead, though a successful Medical Check (15 + (5 x User's Class Level) + User's Enchantment Focus (Compulsion)) reveals that the victim is still alive.
The Psychic Clone can control the subject’s memory and nervous system allowing it to create any Phantasmal Jutsu effect it wishes though only the subject perceives the illusion (disbelief Save equal to this Jutsu) and can also modify memory (same Save) on the subject.
Once per day it can Dominate the subject for 1 hour as Dominate Monster (Save equal to Save of this Jutsu).
The Psychic Clone can protect its subject as if it is a Mind Blank Jutsu and as a Misdirection Jutsu if it so wishes.
The Psychic Clone has a mental link to the user that allows the user to track the subject as if the user were using Discern Location.
The Psychic Clone contains much of the user's knowledge and intellect. This includes any of the user's Skills and memories at the time of the performing but they will not have access to any of the user's Jutsus. It can choose to communicate its knowledge and information if it believes it will serve its goals. It also has perfect recollection of everything the user experiences.


A successful Save against the Jutsu or any of its effects suppresses all the effects of the Psychic Clone for 24 hours.

This unique ability manifests in a clan member's eyes, and while some might call it a genetic aberration of deformity, the Uchiha have used this gift to devastating effect. In some members this ability will only let them anticipate or predict the path of an attack. The user activates this ability as a "C" Rank weaving movement that does not provoke an opportunity of attack. Each Rank learned the user gains a Tomoe (maximum 3). User gains a +10 insight bonus to Investigate, Observation, Reading Lips, and Forgery (to copy writers) checks per Tomoe. User gains a +10 insight bonus to Sense Motive against Feints per Tomoe. User gains a +2 insight bonus to Intimidate per Tomoe. User gains a +2 insight bonus to Will Saves against GenJutsu and Mind-Affecting Jutsus per Tomoe. This ability does not reveal the truth, uncover unintentional inaccuracies, or necessarily reveal omissions in information.

Hypnotic Stare

Description: A Sharingan based technique. A user can focus their stare on 1 creature within 7 meters + 6 meters per Class Level as a weaving movement. That creature takes a -2 penalty on Will Saves. This penalty changes to -3 at "C" Class. A user can maintain their stare against only 1 opponent at a time; it remains in effect until the user stares at a new target, the opponent dies, the opponent moves farther than the range, or the user falls unconscious or dies. The user can remove the memory of their stare from the target's mind; the creature does not remember that it was affected (nor does it realize that it is currently being affected) unless the user allows it. The hypnotic stare is a psychic effect, and relies more on the Uchiha's focus than the target's Observation of their stare. It cannot be avoided in the same ways a gaze attack can. The Uchiha can use this ability even while blinded, but must succeed at a Verify Difficult Observation check to do so. Staring at a creature requires the Uchiha's focus, so if they use their gaze attack or similar ability, user must target the subject of their hypnotic stare or voluntarily end the stare. The penalties from multiple Uchihas' stares do not stack. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Mimicry

Effect: This ability allows the user to copy techniques using the Sharingan's precognitive ability, and its ability to See Chakra.

Description: A Sharingan based technique. The user readies a movement. Any technique the user sees performed within 7 meters + 6 meters per Class Level may copy using their readied movement. The user must meet the requirements of the technique to copy it, and if the user does not, the readied movement is wasted. The technique must be a GenJutsu or NinJutsu technique performed with handseals or half-seals, or is a Strike, or Stance TaiJutsu technique. A Chakra control technique, a technique performed with no handseals, or an Enhancement TaiJutsu technique cannot be copied. To copy a technique, user must succeed a check to identify it. If the user's check succeeds, the maneuver can be initiated. If the user succeeds, the user must pay the same Chakra cost as the technique that was performed. If the opponent performs a technique with a Jutsu Enhancement, the user can still perform the Jutsu with an added +20 difficulty to Identify the Jutsu. The user can choose to Copy, Memorize, or Nullify.

Copy: The character performs the technique as it was performed by the opponent the user copied from, and it has the same effects. The user gains a +1 Enchantment Bonus to Training Points per Post made to develop the technique for 2 weeks. If unused, the bonus fades.
Memorize: The character gains a +2 Enchantment Bonus to Training Points per Post made to develop the technique for 1 month. If unused, the bonus fades. User regains 1/2 the Chakra cost they used to initiate this maneuver.
Nullify (GenJutsu or NinJutsu only): The character counters the creature performing the technique, and the technique has no effect. The character gains a +1 Enchantment Bonus to Training Points per post made to develop the technique for 2 weeks. If unused, the bonus fades. A technique with a Personal range cannot be nullified.

The user does not learn this technique. The Y'la does, however the Training Points is applied to the user as if they learned the technique. The Y'la will perform this Ritual in a deep meditation as being part of the User. For these peaceful 2 hours, the Aura of Misfortune will not work with the user. The Y'la uses the user's and its own chakra and other materials when performing this Ritual as the Maledictions are created off of the stored Chakra. Before learning the Y'la will mischievously remove 23,000 Ryo from the user whenever the user has that amount of money as a Market Price. The Y'la will then perform this Ritual on its own as part of the User while 1,000 Ryo will disappear from the user as a weird force of nature or forgetfulness. Every 1,000 Rup the Y'la will always perform this Ritual in order to allow the user access to the power of Maledictions. The user has no say in this. Whenever the user has enough Ryo even if that Ryo is stashed away, the Ryo will disappear. For every 1,000 Ryo disappeared the Y'la is able to perform a Malediction. This means if the Y'la disappears 18,000 Ryo the Y'la may perform 18 Maledictions.

The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing.
